Years ago, while working at the lakeside resort of family friends in Maine, Miles and Avery experienced a summer neither would ever forget. Their romance had the potential to develop into something long-term, but at the end of summer, Miles suddenly broke things off, leaving Avery blindsided and brokenhearted. She did the best she could to move on, but a cheating fiancé and uncertainty concerning her career weren't what she'd planned for.
Ten years had passed when the owner of that very resort experienced a medical emergency, and with the focus straying from preparations, Avery agreed to go up to Maine to help get everything opened up and ready for the summer. What Avery hadn't been prepared for was Miles, who'd come for the same reason.
The unhealed wounds from ten years ago and the bruises from her fiancé's betrayal left Avery cautious, but she couldn't deny the attraction that remained. Miles had done well for himself regarding his career, but he'd never been able to get past a first date, unable to let down the walls he put up after his mother passed away. But there's Avery, the only woman who's ever truly understood him, and he's determined to spend the summer winning her back.
I love a good second-chance love story, and this one did not disappoint. The tension between the main characters was on point, and the alternating perspectives gave thorough insight into how they feel and why they make the choices they do. I also really love that this book has such a range of emotions throughout. It was funny, and sad, and heartwarming, and everything in between. The mental health representation was something I appreciated, and the progression in the characters' understanding of it felt honest. I also really enjoyed the "cracked-door" spice level, and I appreciated the level of care that went into making it very obvious what was happening without being too graphic.
Overall, this is a lovely read and one I would recommend adding to your summer TBR. There wasn't a single character I disliked, and I closed the book pleased with the conclusion.

Huge thank you to Kara Kentley for the amazing PR box (I understand why you added the Tobasco now) and trusting me with your beautiful novel.
