She thinks she knows me. It’s all a lie. She has no idea what the truth really is . . .
I let my fans think they know every detail of my life.
My Instagram page is carefully curated for my 800,000 followers: my latest manicure, behind the scenes content from my yoga studio and gifted collabs from the hottest brands. It all looks so glamorous.
But they don’t see the other side — the vicious messages and anonymous threats.
They only see what I want them to see.
I keep most people at a distance.
Until I meet our new cleaner at the yoga studio. She’s only eighteen and she’s just moved to the city. She has nowhere to go. I feel bad for her. I know what it’s like to be alone. So I let her stay with me.
I thought it was a chance meeting. I had no idea it wasn’t . . .
And now she wants to know everything about me. She wants to get closer to me.
I Let Her In by Sophia Spiers is a twisty psychological thriller that takes a look at the downside of social media fame and will make you question who is really watching you online.
Francesca "Frankie" is a very popular social media influencer. With her carefully curated posts about her blend of yoga and pilates gym (Pilaga), Frankie has hundreds of thousands of followers. But when Frankie starts to receive threatening messages from a follower, she realizes that her troubled past is creeping into her new life. When she finds a new cleaner she had hired named Bee sleeping in her gym one morning, she knows what it would mean to this girl to give her a second chance and helping hand. Offering her a place to stay until she can find other accommodations, Frankie doesn't realize exactly who she has let into her life. Because Bee is hiding some pretty dark secrets herself..
I did like this book but I found some parts of it to be a bit predictable. This genre is one that I read a lot of so it makes sense that I could read something where the trope has been done before. I still really enjoyed the premise and I especially loved the duel POV. I thought that the flashbacks were perfectly placed, seamlessly positioned so that the reader gets bits and pieces of the reveal at a time and it all ties up together in the end. I would recommend this for fans of Daniel Hurst, Nicole Trope, and Shari Lapena.
Thank you to NetGalley, Sophia Spiers, and Joffe Books/Lume Books for this ARC! Publication date is May 1st 2025.
A fast paced read with short chapters and some twists along the way. The story is told by Frankie, our successful influencer, and Bee, who is desperate to insert herself into Frankie's life. The male characters in this book are highly unlikeable and totally unreliable. Bee's intense desperation is described well and we soon understand the why. A few loose ends but overall a good read. My thanks to Joffe Books for the ARC.
I LET HER IN BY SOPHIA SPIERS. Release date set for the 1st of May 2025. This story follows the Povs from both Frankie and Bee and easy to follow along. Fast paced. I do love a good social media Trope and this one worked for me personally. I'd recommend this book. This is my first book by this author and I'll read more of her work
Frankie is a polished Instagram influencer and successful owner of a trendy pilates, yoga hybrid gym brand. On the surface, she’s wealthy and flawless, but she’s hiding a dark past. When anonymous threats begin to surface, her carefully constructed world starts to crack. Meanwhile, her new young cleaner, Bee, has secrets of her own; and things quickly spiral. "I Let Her In" is a fast-paced, twisty read with layered characters, even if some plot points were a bit predictable. Bee was delightfully irritating in that perfectly teenage way, and while Frankie wasn’t always sympathetic, she kept me intrigued.
A solid pick for fans of bingeable thrillers. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
Frankie is a perfectly curated Instagram star who owns her own brand of gyms that teach pilates/yoga hybrid classes. (Can I just say how much I hate the word pilaga?) She's well off and seemingly flawless. But really, she's hiding from her troubled past. One day, she starts getting anonymous messages, threatening to reveal her secrets. Her new, young studio cleaner Bee has secrets of her own. Things begin to spiral from there.
This was a fun one! Bee was perfectly annoying, irrational, and selfish like teenagers can be. It was hard to feel bad for Frankie at times but she did have some layers to her. I found some of it predictable but I still enjoyed reading. I Let Her In was a quick, twisty read. I would definitely read Sophia Spiers again.
I do wish I had realized there was a UK slang glossary in the back *before* I started reading, but I was able to figure out most of it with context clues.
This book was a very addictive read. When reading I felt really sorry for Frankie whose life was just falling apart in so many ways. I enjoyed the dual perspective as it provided the different experiences of both of the characters. I could see some of what happened but some part were quite the shock. I haven’t read any by this author before but will be on the look out for more by her as I enjoyed the writing style.
Sophia Spiers delivers a haunting and immersive psychological thriller with I Let Her In, a novel that explores the corrosive power of secrets and the dangerous consequences of letting someone get too close. This is a tense, character-driven story that sinks its hooks in early and refuses to let go.
At the center of the novel is a protagonist grappling with an overwhelming sense of unease, as secrets from the past threaten to surface and unravel her carefully constructed life. Spiers masterfully builds suspense through a creeping sense of dread, drawing readers into the protagonist’s mindset and allowing them to feel the same growing tension and paranoia. The pacing is deliberate but gripping, perfectly calibrated to keep readers turning pages late into the night.
What makes I Let Her In particularly compelling is its atmosphere—dark, charged, and layered with psychological depth. As the story unfolds, the revelations come at just the right moments, keeping the stakes high and the reader guessing. The twist, when it arrives, is both satisfying and impactful, tying together the emotional threads and plot twists in a way that feels earned.
Sophia Spiers writes with clarity and emotional precision, making the story not only suspenseful but also resonant. I Let Her In is a standout domestic thriller that will appeal to fans of slow-burning suspense and complex female-driven narratives. An intense, well-crafted novel that lingers long after the final page.
This is absolutely outstanding! An extremely well written psychological thriller, and a really heart breaking one. I don't want to say too much about the plot as I don't want to give away any spoilers, but just when I thought I had it all sussed out, I really didn't! Just when I thought we had got to the pinnacle of the reveal, there was still so much more to come. This book is written over multiple POVs and dual time lines. Whilst this is a frequently used tool to build up the plot and suspense in novels such as these, this was crafted perfectly. It maintained a smooth flow and didn't become clunky and disjointed. The "before" sections were particularly well written, dropping little bits here and there but blending in seemlessly. This was packed full of raw emotion. Aside from the main thread, the other aspects all added good value, no random filler bits stuck in to pack up the word count (I really enjoyed the love island/married at first site type reality show!!) I really loved the characters too, all of which came in their own shade of morally grey. This was fast paced and really does grab you from the get go and will have you thinking about it long after you finished reading. If you love the likes of Lisa Jewell and Shari Lapeana, you will definitely love this!
Wow this was a phenomenal read. I am still thinking 'what did I just read'? The concept was fantastic and it haunted me to my very soul.
I had an idea of where this would end up to an extent. It was just how it all unfolded. It was sensational writing. It flowed well and there were no plot holes or unanswered questions.
The characters were great. Frankie and Bee are the two main characters. How everything between them unfolded and their interactions with one another was fantastic. The rest of the characters were excellent in the story. They played their parts well in the unfolding of events.
The book is written in first person from Frankie and Bee's points of view. There are also some flashback chapters as well. We don't know if it's Bee or Frankie's past we are learning about but it is all revealed in the end.
This was a fantastic psychological thriller and I can't recommend or praise it enough.
Thanks to my partners @sophiaspierswrites @zooloosbooktours @lumebooks @joffebooks for the #gifted #eArc of #ILetHerIn which published May 1st 2025
I had a an unhinged look in my eyes while reading Sophia's newest spine-tingling and jaw dropping book full of twists and turns and unhinged characters that will leave you questioning your own selves. This story is about Frankie (social media influencer) receiving creepy messages and Bee (a girl down on her luck) who is hired by Frankie as a cleaner... to find out more, please read! I loved how twisty and suspenseful this book was and Sophia does an amazing job at creating books that leave you gasping out loud.
WOW 😮 What a fantastic read! If you love a thrilling psychological suspense full of twists but also chilling this is a definite read.
I’m a fast reader I must admit and as my name says I do read A Lot but I was completely immersed in this book, I literally started it and was unable to put it down!
I think I read in in a couple of hours then sat for a while just trying to get it all straight in my head 😂 Even the cover now gives me chills
I love thrillers and this is why, a new go to author.
Title: I Let Her In Author: Sophia Spiers Genre: Thriller Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Summary: Frankie's Instagram page is carefully curated for my 800,000 including her latest manicure, behind the scenes content from her yoga studio and gifted collabs from the hottest brands. It all looks so glamorous. One day Frankie starts receiving vicious messages and threats on her Instagram.
One day she meet our new cleaner at her yoga studio. She’s only eighteen and she’s just moved to the city. She has nowhere to go. She feels bad for her and eventually gives her a place to stay. Frankie thinks this is all just a chance meeting, but has no idea it's been planned all along.
My View: This book was so good. I binge read it in 24 hours. I found the story to be fast paced, edge of your seat, and included an emotional twist at the end. I have never read anything by Sophia Spiers, but will be looking for others by her in the future. This book will be released for publication on May 1.
Thank you NetGalley and Lume Books for providing this ARC.
Frankie is a social media influencer and the inventor of a new way to workout that has taken the country by storm. On the outside she looks perfect but on the inside she has secrets. Bee comes into the city looking for a new start. From the beginning you can tell she is a narcissist who only cares for herself. She can be your best friend until you don’t give her what she wants, then she turns on you. What I loved most about this book is all the subtext. We know there is more to Bea’s visit and to Frankie’s life but we are given little hints that kept me guessing and wondering what was the real story. I had a hard time putting this book down!
Thank you to the author and Zooloo's Book Tours for the incredibly uncomfortable read! I had an idea of where this story was going, but it didn't make it any easier to see it happening as I went through the book. I felt really bad for the characters who served as collateral damage for various people's nefarious intentions. The writing style was very easy-to-follow, and this was a speedy read.
I Let Her in by Sophia Spiers. This was a good read. I did like the writing style and the story. I liked Frankie. I wasn't sure about Bee. I did like the pacing of the story. I loved the short chapters. This is my 2nd book by this author.
Social media is a brilliant invention. You can make friends all over the world, reconnect with long-lost friends or acquaintances, and stay in touch with them. You can also read all sorts of posts shared by these people or various organizations.
But there’s also a downside. Everyone can see what you’re doing or not doing—unless, of course, you set your profile to private. But some people want to earn money by posting photos or gaining followers, and then you have to expose yourself, sometimes with all the consequences that come with it. People don’t always leave positive comments and can sometimes come up with the strangest ideas…
Followers naturally expect their idol to post regularly, and if nothing is shared for a few days, the toxic tongues start to wag, spreading all kinds of rumors.
Frankie is a successful businesswoman who sees her carefully built image start to crumble. This begins when Bee enters her life. Who is this young woman? What are her intentions?
I found it especially intriguing to find out what role the different characters played in Frankie’s life and whether she would be able to defend herself against it.
I also found it a heartbreaking story, and it hurt to see how certain situations can drive some people to desperate actions.
To me, it wasn’t exactly a thriller, because at times I found it a bit too predictable—but on the other hand, the author still managed to keep me reading, which led to a surprising conclusion. I think this book deserves a solid 4 stars.
- The premise of this absolutely sucked me in and I enjoyed the overall story. I liked the duel pov with the unknown 3rd pov thrown in as well. It definitely makes you question who it was and what was happening.
- I enjoyed the authors writing style. It made it easy to read, nothing felt overly complicated to understand and for a thriller it kept my attention.
- I do think the big ‘twist’ or reveal was pretty obvious, quite early on. Just based on the things we’re told about the characters. However, I was intrigued to see how it would all play out in the end.
- As far as unhinged characters bee definitely ticked all the boxes.
- I disliked all the men in this book. Not one had anything redeemable about him.
- This did feel messy at points. Whilst some things really added to the plot, there were a lot of things that actually had no relevance and were just thrown in for the sake of it. E.g. the stuff with the art dealer felt really unnecessary and didn’t actually link back to one character in the way I thought it would. It was left just open ended and therefore, I don’t really understand what the point of it was. I was left with a sense that some things could have been better explained which maybe would have led me to a higher rating.
Overall, this didn’t blow me away in any sense but it was enjoyable for an easy, quick thriller read. I definitely think this author is one to keep on watching and I’ll be looking out for more in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read in exchange for an honest review.
This book for me was a 4* however the ending was absolutely awful.
The first 3/4s of the book were great and suspenseful, I really enjoyed it. The topic of drugs and overdose and the feeling of needing them to be creative was so well written.
The last 1/4 is where my issue lies, it just felt rush especially the last chapter and the epilogue didn’t actually explain anything or give you an insight into what happened
Overall a good book despite the end
*full disclosure I was given this book in exchange for an honest review through NetGalley*
Review of ‘I Let Her In’ by Sophia Spiers, due to be published on 1 May by Joffe Books.
What a read! Brilliant book full of suspense, intrigue and mystery.
Each chapter changes your mind about how you think about certain characters, you think you know what’s coming, but then it twists to something unexpected and surprising. Told from three different points of view, with one of them intentionally unclear on whose memory it is recalling.
I’d not read any of Sophie’s books previously, but this will definitely not be the last.
Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for an early copy of I Let Her In. This was a fast read, I felt very sorry for the main character, her story was tragic. She was a whack job but now I know why. When it all came together, it was terribly sad. Be prepared to NOT like any of the male characters, they were users and also useless.
About this time last year, I read The Family Home by this author and loved it!
When I spotted this new release, I was instantly drawn in by the front cover and couldn't wait to dive in!
I was totally invested from the start and although I instantly dislike Frankie, I was too intrigued by the whole premise to let this one go.
Frankie has 800,000 followers on social media and everything she posts, shows the perfection that is her life.
But as we all know, what we see on screen, isn't always the reality - and there are some people who will do anything to get to know you and get a piece of your life for themselves.
I love a good psychological thriller and especially one with stalker vibes.
Although, they put me on edge!
This storyline made for the perfect read and I raced through this as I made my theories and tried to work out how things would play out in the end.
I loved the dual pov format as this really allowed us to dig around in the main characters' minds and get a feel for their thoughts and feelings.
It also meant that we could follow the story bit by bit which at first seemed confusing and tense, but the threads were worked perfectly into a twisty a d exciting conclusion.
This was a fast-paced read with an addictive writing style that I just couldn't put down!
This book was a total knockout. I picked it up thinking I’d read a few chapters before bed, and instead I was still flipping pages well into the night because I had to know how it all played out. The tension, the secrets, the slow unraveling of two very different women...it all hit just right.
Frankie’s influencer-perfect life looks flawless online, but there’s so much brewing beneath the surface. When a young cleaner named Bee enters her world, things shift from casual kindness to something much darker and much more personal. The dual perspectives, and those mysterious flashbacks, made the story feel like a puzzle I was desperate to solve.
What I loved most was how the author balanced the psychological mind games with real emotion, especially around addiction, loneliness, and identity. And that ending? I didn’t see it coming, and I loved that it still made perfect sense looking back.
Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for theARC in exchange for my honest review.
I give this a 4, it was definitely a twist on my usual thriller dram book. The relationships that develop and get taken apart in this story are interesting. I think that it was a good book especially for in the car on audio. I do think that the book had a lot of characters, and sometimes that made it confusing at times. But over all the book, had great characters and character development
As a longtime fan of thrillers, I was excited to recently discover Zooloos Book Tours, a tour company offering readers the chance to review new thriller titles. I signed up right away, and the first book I was sent was I Let Her In by Sophia Spiers — a gripping and layered psychological thriller that quickly pulled me in.
The story introduces us to Frankie, a confident entrepreneur who has built her own fitness brand blending Pilates and yoga. She has carefully rebranded her life, much like her best friend Lynda, who has reinvented herself as an artist. But the past, as we soon learn, has a way of catching up — and someone seems determined to drag Frankie and Lynda back down into it.
While Frankie maintains a tough exterior, Lynda is far more fragile, and tragically succumbs to a drug overdose. As the pressure mounts, Frankie begins receiving anonymous threats on her social media, calling her a fraud and threatening to expose her carefully buried secrets.
Running parallel to Frankie’s unravelling world is the storyline of Bea, a young woman who has recently lost her mother and uncovered Frankie’s name and address among her late mother’s things. Determined to track her down, Bea sets out on a collision course — but she’s unprepared for the shocking truths she’s about to discover about who Frankie really is.
I’ve always loved thrillers that play with themes of reinvention, buried identities, and long-lost family ties resurfacing in unexpected and dangerous ways. I Let Her In hits all these notes, delivering a tense, emotionally charged narrative that kept me hooked from start to finish. The dual perspectives of Frankie and Bea add layers of tension and mystery, and the pace steadily builds toward a satisfying reveal.
This was my first experience with Sophia Spiers’s writing, but it definitely won’t be my last. I’ll be adding her to my must-read author list and eagerly looking forward to her future books. If you’re a fan of UK crime fiction with psychological twists, I Let Her In is one you won’t want to miss.
Although the book’s subtitle says the usual thing, calling it a “gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller”, I think it is more than that. I think it’s time for a new sub-genre to be brought onto the scene of psych thrillers: a mix of FAFO and dysfunctional family. This book is the epitome of it. A child is born, a child isn’t treated well, and those who were supposed to love the said child have done anything but love the said child. The child grows up, and then everyone gets to face the consequences of their actions and inactions.
I don’t know who the target audience and the ideal readers for this new sub-genre are, but I know I am. I see and I know Bee was meant to be this unlikable, unstable, evil character. Yet here I am, loving her, rooting for her. My CPTSD-ridden and my RSD-ridden part loved her and found her so, so relatable. Everything she did made so much sense to me. You go, Bee. Watch the world burn, here, have some more matches. Turns out, I have my very own inner Bee, and my inner Bee is one strong and resilient bish. My inner Bee saw whatever the book Bee did and smiled a sad smile. Also, my inner Bee wanted to hug all the reds out of the book Bee (and her BPD, yes, you are welcome, I’m in a mood for handing out psych diagnoses today, and BPD is what Bee gets).
This most definitely is not a book that is going to be everyone’s cup of tea. But it’s the best blood-flavored cup of your favorite hot drink if you are a die-hard fan of totally messed-up family dynamics in your books and if you live for reading unhinged characters.
I wish there were some sort of catalogue of books with THIS kind of dynamic. If you know what I’m talking about here, you are more than welcome to share your bookish suggestions with me.
Here is my review for I Let Her In by Sophia Spiers
This was a superb psychological thriller that had me on tenterhooks in places as I was reading this story through the night. I certainly didn’t fall asleep! I thought the characters were written extremely well and it’s possible that some research had been done into drug use and mental health issues which were portrayed in the book. This was written really well and sensitively. I enjoyed the plot which was well planned and thought out. I thought the book was superbly written and had me hooked from the start. I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to find out what was going to happen next. The synopsis drew me to reading this story and I wasn’t disappointed. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I Let Her In by Sophia Spiers is a gripping psychological thriller that wastes no time pulling you straight into its unsettling world. From the opening chapter, there’s an undeniable hook, that creeping sense that something isn’t quite right, and I was instantly intrigued. The story unfolds through the perspectives of Frankie, Bea, and carefully placed glimpses into the past. This multi-layered narrative adds tension and emotional depth, gradually revealing secrets and shifting loyalties. I really enjoyed how each voice brought its own tone and urgency, making the dynamics between the characters feel raw and believable. There are twists and turns aplenty, some quiet and chilling, others that hit like a punch to the chest. It’s the kind of book where you think you’ve guessed what’s coming… until you suddenly realise you haven’t at all. The unsettling drip-feed of truth kept me reading late into the night, eager to untangle the web and desperate to know who to trust. Dark, atmospheric and full of simmering tension, I Let Her In delivers drama in spades and a storyline that grips right to the end. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with layered perspectives, emotional complexity, and those deliciously twisted moments where everything you believed shifts beneath you, this one is well worth picking up.
I really enjoyed this book it was well written with a compelling and gripping story line that really hooked me in from the start and didn't let me go until I had finished the book a couple of hours later. The characters are well developed and although I found some of them highly unlikable - which is the point I think, I also couldn't look away from their behaviour it was like a car crash playing out in front of my eyes.
I loved the narrators and really felt like I got to grips with them and the story as a whole and I loved the part that social media had to play in it. I have read a few books recently with social media playing a part and in particular, influencers, as is very much the world we live in and everyone has influencers/reality stars they know of or watch so this makes it a more intriguing element.
The book is perfectly paced with short and snappy chapters that just made me want to keep reading and twists that kept me guessing. I would definitely recommend giving this book a go.
Frankie and Bee are connected and we learn how pretty early on, at least from Bee's perspective.
The two characters share a similar upbringing but their move into adulthood is shaped differently by their own motives.
I think Frankie has made the best out of the bad situations she's been in and you can't help but admire her drive. She's had it rough but she's trying.
Bee, on the other hand, is driven in a different way and mainly through her need for love and attention. She's immature and impulsive which makes her extremely dangerous. It's sad because she could have exactly what she'd been looking for if only she'd had a simple conversation with Frankie. However, she's in a constant state of survival where she can't stop and think of thinks in a rational way. It makes her interesting as well as sad and you can see just how harmful a bad parent can be. It seems Frankie had a good escape but she does pay the price later on to some extent.
