As bombs rain down during the Blitz, a woman is discovered dead in the ruins, a delicate locket hidden beneath her body. Inside lies the photograph of a soldier and a coded message that could alter the course of the war.
In a city gripped by fear and fractured by secrets, investigative reporter Ottilie Divine follows a trail of deception leading to a clandestine alliance and a dangerous network of spies operating in the shadows of wartime London. Each clue is buried beneath rubble, silence, and betrayal, and every answer carries the risk of deadly exposure.
Working alongside Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson, thoughtfully adapted to wartime Britain, Ottilie must navigate blackouts, bombed streets, and shifting loyalties as the truth threatens to surface.
The locket holds more than memories. It holds power.
Book Two of The Ottilie Divine Mysteries, The Locket Code is a WWII historical mystery rich in Blitz-era atmosphere, wartime espionage, and classic detective intrigue. Perfect for readers of Jacqueline Winspear, Rhys Bowen, and Laurie R. King, and for fans of Foyle’s War, Downton Abbey, and intelligent Sherlock Holmes adaptations.
Each mystery can be enjoyed as a standalone investigation, while together, the trilogy charts the escalating dangers of wartime London
I really don’t understand Ottilie not Trusting Holmes. It leaves me the reader questioning her decision ability. Also you made a huge deal about her Father history and after she finds out Nothing… no confidential discussion with her mother? Also when is she going to realize how unselfish Camilla was to not spoil Ottilie relationship with her Papa, but isn’t it time for her to have thought and discussion with her Mother (stop calling her Camilla it her Mom) about what exactly her Dad did because it wasn’t just womanizing. Just some thoughts. Love Camilla Books
A really good mystery. Who's good? Who's bad? Need a program to keep up with the players. Although it isn't a necessity to have read all the Camille Divine books; I'm glad I did. Very good info on who and why Ottilie is who she is. W W II is fascinating time in our world. Horrible, deathly, scary and something our later generations cannot understand. Read on to learn more.
Although I'm still not sure about having Lady Ottilie Divine solve mysteries with Sherlock Holmes (given it's 1940) this was an entertaining read. Some parts were pretty obvious and some were a surprise. I will probably read another, should one be written.
