I wasn’t going to read this ever but I needed to know what really happened even though it’s been mentioned in the first few books. Now, my rating could have been less but Joss (who knew better) just pulled at my heartstrings and I just wished that he didn’t do what he did and that Tammy knew better but Walsh you just feel for. So if you’re into love triangles with a bit of angst then it’s for you but curiosity is what makes you want to know more about them.
Great read if...you like short stories, are looking for an intro into a series, free books, Rockstars, over coming addictions, fighting for what you love, and can handle a non HEA.
Side Note: First let me go ahead and say, if you can't handle cheating, don't read it. (And you know what, for the record cheating happens all the time in real life so I don't understand why people can't handle it in books.) I am a die hard Lush girl, like buy the T-shirt, wear it all the time, follow them on tour forget the world exists kinda hard fan, lol. However, this book...this book is something you need to get your hands on. From the minute you start you are tapped into a type of pain that everyone has been through and then dragged along deeper down the rabbit hole into an emotional nightmare that you just wanna rescue them from. Selena does a beautiful job showing a side of this band that needed to be seen and also the complications of love as well as friendship. Life isn't picture perfect. Life isn't some gorgeous long party all the time. There are rough times and this book shows you just that. Not for the faint at heart. But definitely a must read.
Maybe I did this wrong, I read the prequel that was written after the first book, and I guess prequels are written like that to give information about something that happens in the first book that the reader doesn’t know happened or doesn’t know how it happened. Either way, I read this first and maybe I shouldn’t have because I don’t know how I feel about it.
I gave it three stars because I do like it and I do want to go on with the series but, with it being a novelette and moving just a little fast to get what happens put together, I wasn’t able to connect to the characters. I couldn’t get a feel for them or get a proper connection.
Now, like I said, I may have done this wrong and now I know better because I’ve already started A Lush Betrayal and I’m getting the connection. Maybe if I had read this later on, I could give a proper review but, as it is, I may have to edit this later.
I’m going to hold off on recommendations, although I know I haven’t really been doing those lately, until I finish A Lush Betrayal but, this is just a quick review of what I’ve already read of the series.
Having never read the Lush Series before this, I went in blind. Amazing!! I needed more after learning what happened between Joss and Tammy, and what it was going to mean for Walsh. It's the perfect set up for what was to come in the world of Lush! In such a short read, there was friendship, heartache, and the ultimate betrayal.
*Now, I will say that there is cheating in this book. Yes, it does happen sometimes. But, I still say that you need to read this novelette. It gives the complete backstory that leads to the first book in the series, A Lush Betrayal. You will not regret it, I promise:)
Wonderful job, Selena!! You have a new groupie in the Lush fandom!!
Reading this made me want to start the next book right away... The word triangle always makes me nervous, but I feel like I see this going another way.
This is just a quick read that I was told helps to better set up the first book in the series. I read it first and feel like it's the best way to go.
I really liked this. Even I knew from first book A Lush Betrayal what happened between Joss and Tammy this was great read. It was great to see how and why everything happened.
OMG! I can't wait to read the Lush series to see what's going to happen when Walsh finds out what Tammy and Joss did while he was in rehab. This series starts off with a big bang that will definitely have far reaching consequences for Tammy, Walsh and Josh. Will their friendship be strong enough to take this Lush betrayal? Great read!
Maybe without the conversation I might have believed Joss and Tammy just got caught up in hurt but the words they spoke was a reminder they knew exactly what was happening
Joss Jamison has never been more confused in his life. Everything is spiraling out of control. His best friend Walsh is in rehab for alcohol addiction, he doesn’t know what will happen to his band, and Walsh’s fiancée Tammy is consumed with pain. Joss loves both Walsh and Tammy. They’ve been there for him through thick and thin. But love isn’t always easy, and Joss and Tammy learn just how difficult it can be.
The official summary of A Lush Triangle will let you know this story is not a happily ever after, so I’m not giving anything away by telling you that. It contains cheating, also a known fact. If those are issues for you, then this isn’t the right story for you. This novella is part of the Lush Series, and it’s a prequel to the first book, giving the reader the background of what happened between Joss and Tammy before A Lush Betrayal began. The event is no secret to the reader in A Lush Betrayal either, but we get a greater look at the details in this prequel.
As difficult as the subject matter was in this novella, I absolutely loved it. Ms. Laurence took some touchy issues—alcoholism, friendship and love, death, and cheating—and handled them perfectly. Life is messy sometimes, and this story portrayed the ugly side of things, but it also highlighted some of the better moments in life at the same time. While I was busy crying over Joss’ loss of his mother, my heart was full to bursting over the love shown for him by Walsh and Tammy. Best friends drop everything when your mother isn’t going to make it. They sit by your side and hold your hand.
We got to see the solid friendship between Joss, Walsh, and Tammy, and then we got to see the ugly side of alcoholism. When an alcoholic is backed into a corner and forced to deal with their demons, can you truly believe the hateful words they spew? Watching Walsh’s first meeting with Joss and Tammy while in rehab was painful. It broke my heart right along with Joss and Tammy’s. And if Tammy couldn’t talk to her fiancé and Joss couldn’t talk to his best friend, who else would they turn to but each other?
As much as the cheating sucked, and there was no excuse, things happen. Life happens. Friends turn to each other for comfort. It was believable, and it set the stage for Joss’ despair in the next book. You don’t have to read this novella before reading the first book of the series, but if you do read it, you won’t be sorry.
Great, quick read about the triangle that is Tammy, Walsh, and Joss! Readers will get a better understanding of what actually happened between them. It is told from Joss and Tammy’s POVs. It begins with how the friendship between Joss and Walsh developed. However, most of the book is centered around Walsh’s stay in rehab and what pushed Tammy and Joss to do what they did.
Let me begin by saying that there is cheating involved. If you are dead set against it for any reason whatsoever, then this may not be the book for you. HOWEVER, yes I used capital letters to get your attention, that’s not all that’s involved in A Lush Triangle. I came away with a deeper understanding of Tammy and Joss. No, I would never condone cheating, but I saw how deep, gut-wrenching pain can make good people do bad things. I am probably in the minority, but I don’t see Tammy as this heartless witch. Yes, she committed the ultimate betrayal. But, as you will see in the later books and in this one, she does everything in her power to earn Walsh’s love and trust back. I have to admire that in a person.
Again, this is a really tough read, not just because cheating is involved, but it’s a very realistic and hard look at addiction. It just scratches the surface that is the complicated relationship between Tammy, Walsh, and Joss. Not only does Walsh have to take a long and hard look within himself and how he got to the place he was but also how it affects the ones that love him most. Selena does a great job of showing how very much Tammy and Joss do love Walsh, and I think it’s that love for him that makes this the worst kind of betrayal. Fantastic read! It really pulled at my heartstrings and made me love the characters even more!
I absolutely loved Selena Laurence's prequel to her Lush series. Not only is this a prequel but it really shed's light on how Joss, Tammy, and Walsh got to the place they were in A Lush Betrayal. It was sad and hard to read because it showed the ultimate betrayal between and man and his best friend and a woman and her man. I will say that I hated Tammy in A Lush Betrayal and still more in For the Love of a Lush. Yes, Joss is not angel in this either but it was something about Tammy's brash behavior that made me just want to punch her in her throat. LOL But, Laurence did an amazing job explaining the "why" behind Tammy and Joss's antagonism. I felt bad for Walsh because he had to deal with his addiction on top of having a cheating girlfriend and best friend. Although there is NO happily ever after in this, you will find one as the story infolds -- for Joss in A Lush Betrayal and for Tammy and Walsh in For the Love of a Lush.
Let me start off by saying that if you are adamantly against cheating and won't read a book with cheating in it. Don't read this book.
This book is an introduction on how Joss, Tammy and Walsh got to where they were in A Lush Betrayal. Though I've never been the biggest fan of Tammy, this book made me hate her even more. If I could ever cunt punch a woman, she would be that person. Her behavior just really pissed me off.
I would say, that this would be good to read before you start the Lush series (if you haven't already) You'll have a little better understanding of the tension between Joss and Tammy in A Lush Betrayal and why it hurt everyone as much as it did.
Again if you don't like to read about cheating, DON'T READ THIS BOOK. But if it's something that you can look past and are waiting more of Joss, Tammy and Walsh, pick this book up. It's a super quick read and it sheds some more light on the trios relationship.
While Walsh tries to figure out his own demons in rehab, Joss and Tammy dealt with there own in a way that they both regret. After a devastating first meeting with Walsh and his coordinator in the rehab center, Tammy just wanted to forget for a minute all the horrible things Walsh had said to her and Joss was the only person that would do anything to make her feel better and she knew that but after it was over they both knew what a horrible mistake they made.
It is hard to understand the feelings and emotions that Tammy and Joss were going through while Walsh was in rehab until you read this novella ! It put all the pieces of the puzzle together for you ! Selena did an amazing job as always. Your heart and soul felt for these three best friends.
A great look into just how things panned out between our trio in trouble.
This is an amazingly complete story that tells just how things came about before Tammy and Joss made the worst mistake of their lives. It not only affected them, but Walsh and the rest of the group as well, leading to the conflict we read about in A Lush Betrayal
Although this is a prequel, I think it should be read after Betrayal, rather than before. Just my personal feelings.
It is very, sad and intense and is the cause of a LOT of conflict later in the story, but I just feel it fits in better as a look back, rather than a starting point for the series.
Sexy, soulful, a little heartbreaking and FREE! A delicious beginning to a promising series. I can't wait to read A Lush Betrayal! I have to know what happens to Tammy, Joss and Walsh!!
This is a must read to understand what really happened when Tammy and Joss betrayed Walsh. It will break your heart. You don't have to read this short story but it helps learn the truth. Yes it is the ultimate betrayal and if you don't want to read it then don't. But if you love Lush as I do, you would want to learn the truth. Another great addition to the Lush series by Selena Laurence and I loved it and can't wait for more.
In the beginning there was two. Best friends who knew all there was to know about one another - Joss and Walsh. Until they hit their teens and in walks Walsh's love of his life, Tammy.
Forward to their twenty-something years and this is where things fall apart.
It's one of the better prequels that I have come across that sets the scene for what I hope will be an interesting series.
This is a great first book to read in this series. The way it ends makes you want to continue on to find out what happens to the three of them. However, this book came out after I had already read the first two books. This story does let me know what Tammy and Joss were thinking and feeling when everything went down so I did like that aspect.
This novella explains the events that led up to and caused Joss and Tammy to betray Walsh while he was in rehab. It led to the destruction of the band, Tammy and Walsh's engagement as well as their childhood friendships. Is this the end?
I am very glad that I was able to read A Lush Triangle by Selena Laurence A Lush Triangle by Selena Laurence. It is a terrific starting point and back ground information for the Lush Series. I cannot wait to get started. All twisty and complicated already. Oooo...such fun.
A great prelude to the series. Even being a prequel this is packed full of misery and heartache. Best friends betraying one another, and wondering how to go on with their mistake and lives. Draws you in and you just have to read the rest of the series!!
