Re-read the whole series…UNFORTUNATELY...

Genres: Shoujo, smut

Status: Finished

Volumes: 7

Chapters: 38

Is alcohol required to finish it? YES. It was like reading a story about the sex life of a married couple.. only interesting to the people involved. Plus, guess what? Nothing kills one’s spirit faster that a dumb, dependent, needy, whiney heroine.

Recommended? For people who don't mind reading unrealistic things and only care about the drawings or the cool factor of the guy or whatever, then go ahead and read. But IMO, this manga is a waste of time.

The Story: Kirara Nakazono is a young girl who dreams of being a top idol but her career is going no where. That all changes when a very wealthy and influential young man named Ginzou Fujiwara (Gin for short), develops an interest in her virgin body. (I'M NOT KIDDING. I SHOULD HAVE STOPPED READING THERE!!) As you’ve a probably guessed, this is yet another ‘hates him but falls in love with him’ shoujo manga, where our heroine eventually becomes some hot guy’s plaything. So you can expect the usual unrealistic crap the like Gin being able to buy his way into anything from the media to politics but this manga really takes a step further in detracting itself from reality.

Let's cut to the chase. The story kinda sucks, as a lot of the sudden developments and random bullshit will leave anyone cringing in disbelief. What’s worse is how badly the heroine is treated (abused, beaten, continuously molested, etc.), and yet she seems to enjoy it like the lustful little tramp she is.

I can hear some of the fans going;"But oh oh Tamara, dont be like that. Yes there are too many "steamy scenes" and yes there are a lot of complications with the relationship of Kirara and Gin but isn't that true? I mean isn't true love supposed to be that?"

STOP.

STOP OR I’M GONNA FUCKING LOSE IT.

True love? You mean when a man that acts like a boy almost rapes a girl and treats her like a toy? And the girl falls in love with him? And she kinda forgets that "man" tried to rape her because HE'S SO HOT (DUH)? Yeah, that's exactly how real love looks like, right?

Characters: Kirara is naive to the point of stupidity. There were time I ask myself how air-headed can a woman get. Seriously, Kirara is the weakest, most useless female protagonist since Bella Swan. All she does is blush and moan, and she doesn't really care when she's pawned off by all the other male characters for sexual means. I CANT FUCKING BELİEVE IT.

The dude treats the female lead like crap and she only cries and doesn't even get mad? And when the guy tries to take her back she just blindly goes back to his side? If it was me I would've probably beaten the crap out of him or atleast been mad and argued. Like, what the hell? Love yourself more, when a guy treats you bad then stand up for yourself. All the smut mangas would've been so much better if the girl just didn't blindly fall for the guy over and over again. Sorry, but I'm just so fed up by this I just want to smash a plastic bottle on the authors heads. What's wrong with a independent and strong girl like in Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama!, #1 or Dengeki Daisy, Vol. 01? I don't understand, ugh.

Seriously, how can Kirara still love this guy who claims he loves her, but then steps on her career and future as he pleases because she simply didn't want to quit the entertainment industry after they marry?

I mean, she basically gave up her life to have sex with him 24/7 because he is rich and can support her doing that. I don't care how much Gin loves her, she just became a dumb sex slave. No matter how much of an asshole the male lead was/is ( I mean he just took her vigrinity, raped her several times and blackmailed her emotionally almost throughout the whole story...) she can always forgive him and worse... falls unconditionally in LOVE with him and "cant be without him" and "wants only him"? See? DUMB.

Oh how about that part she agrees to be a 'sex slave' to that Jinguu guys so he wont sue for assault? It's laughable that Gin is so 'influential' but cant handle a minor lawsuit.

HAHAHA THIS MANGA.

MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL.

Besides Kiara always has the same expression on her face. such like "I'm a innocent and helpless girl pleaaaaaaaaaaaase save me my prince". aaarrgh that sucks.

Guess what? Gin isn't much better either. My main issue with him is...ta da...he is STUPID. At the beginning of the story I thought that he was going to be foolish in a fun way, but no, HE'S JUST DUMB AS A BAG OF HAMMERS. In every chapter, I think 'man, this guy is so stupid, he's basically just a walking penis'. Take the worst qualities of boys going through puberty and that is Gin.

Yeah, he's attractive and powerful but geez, what a libido on that guy. He made a new definition of over-possessive. And then here's the fact he truly loves her but when she's tired of him controlling her life (and trying to have a back bone) he hurts her. And of course, she always comes back crawling to him one way or the other. Sure, in rare parts, he really is a nice guy but she gets so much crap from him. I mean, they're whole relationship is based on sex, which is lust, not love.

Smut: Too much. It’s like the author simply wanted to pack as many sex scenes as possible into the manga since she had no real creativity.

Art:
The art I thought was really nice, it wasn't all over the top, but the detail was very outstanding. If it wasnt for art I wouldnt have given even 1 star to this manga.

Final Thoughts:

Basically everything I hoped would happen didn't. In fact nothing happened. No further development of the characters (the series ended with the girl having no dreams, aspirations or plans for the future... talk about a REVERSE in character development; so despicable). I didn't like a single character in this series, except maybe the girl with Leukemia.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. SUCH A WASTE OF MY TIME. BORING.

FUCK THIS MANGA.

As with all my reviews of manga, this will encompass the entire 7 volume series and may contain spoilers, as I wish to speak at length about the series.

Mayu Shinjo is in the same realm as Miki Aihara because a lot of her stories tend to really sink into problematic romantic content. If you liked one mangaka's work, you'll probably like the other's.

Another thing to note is that Ms. Shinjo's style is... particular and peculiar.

All her girls are these small-headed, big eyed creatures and most of her guys are drastically different looking with huge bodies, angular jaws, and small eyes--unless they're supposed to be more cute than sexy, in which chase, she draws them like she draws girls, just with fewer eyelashes. It stands out a lot, I think.

On the subject of the great disparity in the styles used to differentiate characters' genders, the author made a manga that leans into this fact. Ai Ore! Love Me! Vol. 1 has it so the male character looks like her usual female model and the female character looks like her usual male model--just with more eyelashes on the girl and less on the guy.

But that's another door of horrors to open in another review.

Love Celeb (which in Japanese is just the English words "Love Celeb" but written phonetically in katakana as "Rabu Serebu" (ラブセレブ )) is a series that focuses on the world of entertainment; actors, singers, idols, directors, TV shows, movies, concerts, etc.

Our heroine is a teenage girl named Kirara, who was scouted by an agent and is trying to break out into the world of celebrities, dreaming of being a well-loved idol performing in large stadiums and taking on coveted acting roles. The issue is, however, that Kirara can't seem to get any good jobs or catch a lucky break. Since her talents (or lack thereof) aren't getting her anywhere, her manager, a rather creepy man named Hanamaki, decides that the only way for Kirara to ever succeed as a celebrity is to climb up the ladder by having sex with powerful, influential men in exchange for their help with her career.

After Kirara is forced into a building that seems to serve as a hub for influential men in the industry to meet up with aspiring young women willing to trade sex for help with their careers, she ends up catching the eye of the ultra wealthy and powerful Gin--who despite being portrayed as this ultra savvy, powerful, influential businessman who is related to the prime minister is actually a teenager and high school (which is wild, like, if you were not told his age and shown him at a fancy high school, you'd never guess this was an 18 year old). Although Gin can have his pick of girls, he likes going after virgins and becomes determined to take Kirara's after she confesses that she's there to sleep with a powerful man to help her career. While attempting to finally have sex with Kirara--a task made surprisingly difficult by Kirara's nervous inexperience, her manager's interference, and Gin's many enemies showing up--Gin falls madly in love with her and she with him.

The bulk of the story focuses on the constant interference with their ability to finally have sex (which is usually in the form of some random guy who hates Gin and tries to ruin his life by taking Kirara from him) and their growing romantic feelings for one another as Kirara works to become a star and Gin works to make all her dreams come true.

Our first issue, right away, is the manager, Hanamaki. As a talent agent, he is clearly much older than Kirara, who is only 16. On top of being pretty abusive towards her (yells at her, insults her, hits her), he also sexually assaults her and it's revealed that he's in love with her and has been since the moment he scouted her on the street--which had to be before she was 16 because she's not freshly new to the industy, so, adult man was creeping on a very young teenager, gross.

The author kind of treats it like a joke, but he tries to give Kirara "sex lessons" so she can better sleep her way to success and he also pressured her into the whole scheme of have sex with powerful men in exchange for favors. Super gross for him to see that as a valid path to success and also she is 16, he is telling a child to ask adult men to fuck her in exchange for acting roles and modeling gigs and record contracts.

His main role in the story is to be awful to Kirara and then swoop in to cockblock Gin in an attempt to keep him on the hook providing more assistance to Kirara's career (and also because he's jealous and doesn't want Kirara to be with Gin).

Which leads us to our next problem: Gin.

The author does try to lessen the blow of his worst qualities by trying to convey that although he comes off as this all-powerful playboy who uses women for sex and hasn't a care in the world because he has the money and influence to do anything he wants, underneath all that, he's actually kind of childish and deeply affected by his genuine romantic attachment to Kirara. There are plenty of scenes where he gets embarrassed and flustered, reacting to it like a child with anger to disguise how he feels.

It's just that these attempts don't actually do much to make Gin likeable or redeemable.

Gin basically behaves as if he wants to own Kirara. Their relationship begins with him saying essentially, "let me take your virginity and never look at anyone else and I'll use my money and influence to make you a star" and although he eventually realizes that he wants to be with her and not just use her for sex, he treats her pretty poorly.

Kirara is always aware of the power imbalance, so, she is pretty afraid of him and doesn't realize for a long time that when he yells at her or threatens her, he doesn't mean it, he's reacting with anger to the fact that he doesn't want to admit that he's developing feelings for her. For example, he tells her he'll kill her if she covers the hickey he gave her, then acts all embarrassed/upset when she looks erotic on camera showing them, yelling at her for showing them and accusing her of being a pervert despite her only doing as he said.

The author uses visuals to imply that Kirara is a helpless rabbit that Gin, a wolf, is going to devour. And that kind of frames their dynamic; Kirara is reluctanly trying to sleep with Gin for the sake of her career, and she's in a constant state of stress as he tries to have sex with her and ends up flustered because he doesn't understand that he's falling in love with her, and then at some point the two are in love and ready to get married.

Also like, Gin's signs that he's falling for Kirara are like... he gets flustered around her, finds that he's more aroused by her than other girls, thinks about her when he's having sex with other girls, and then isn't able to go through with sex with Kirara the way he would with other girls. Romantic stuff, right? There's not really any tender, sweet, emotional scenes where they connect on a meaningful level.

He also like, basically rapes his flower arranging teacher. They're in a lesson then suddenly he grabs her and goes at it and she doesn't really say yes or anything, so I'm saying it's at the very least dubious consent and at worst its her resigning herself to a rape because he's powerful and she feels compelled (much like Kirara) to do as he says or bend over backwards to please him.

I do also have to reiterate this. This is a like 16 or 18 year old boy. He has adult men as enemies, he's revered as some talented businessmen, he's expected to become prime minster, he blows millions of dollars dabbling in different industries, he sleeps with actresses and models, and this author really wants me to believe that he's a teenager and goes to high school. The cognitive dissonance is real. He goes up against grown men in the mafia and seasoned politicians and all this stuff like what horny teenage boy is capable of really doing all this??

In general, the story doesn't have much substance and a lot of the elements are very unrealistic and repetitive.

The manga is only about 30 chapters long, yet in that span, there are three incidents where a someone interferes with Gin and Kirara's relationship, attempts to ruin Gin's life for some reason, Kirara is kidnapped by said bad guy, said bad try tries to have sex with her, and then Gin dramatically rescues her before someone else takes her virginity.

The fact that these events happen multiple times in the short span of the series is a testament to how minimal the plot is. If there was more story, we wouldn't need cameos from Sakuya and Hakuron and we wouldn't need several bad guys doing a rinse and repeat of the same plot conflict three times.

On that note, the bad guys are all like 20+ and Kirara is, again, only 16. Like the long haired one gets very physical with Kirara while also loving and wanting to marry another girl so it's.... creepy. I feel so bad for Kirara, she can't even exist for a moment without an adult man preying on her.

There's a lot of dubious consent, forced kissing/touching, and all around not-so-great messages and themes about sex and relationships. We have the typical possessiveness and like "random acts of cruelty to make the girl realize she needs him" from Gin that are pretty standard in Japanese media. It's not the absolute worst, there are several series I find a lot more problematic, but this still isn't that great.

I think for a sorta mindless, smutty read it's not the worst you could do, but there's definitely series with better art and romance that still have good erotic content. And as far as Mayu Shinjo's series goes, Love Celeb isn't as harmful as most of her other work.

I read this as a teenager and along with Desire Climax and Love Monster it was a secret favorite for its mature content, but as an adult I'm not especially impressed with any aspect of it.

This review is for the entire series.

OK, is it just me or is this manga series a lot like Desire Climax. Because it was to me.
With all the guy wanting sex and the girl resisting and then the guy pushing and the girl falling for the guy and then some other person tries to take the girl away but then the guy falls for the girl too and all that.

Except in this manga, the guy got to have sex with the girl far before the guy in Desire Climax did; or maybe it's just because Desire Climax is longer...

Anyway, I give the manga 3 stars for beung entertaining while it lasted but I kinda was super entertaining because I've seen the concept before and because the guy in this book is such a sex pig.

This was dreadful up until the last chapter of the volume. I willed through this like I do with my almost edible, culinary experiments. It was worth stomaching it down, sort of. It does get better. I mean, I did finish the series. I found it hard to like our hero; he always blames others for his actions. I just want to slap people who hide behind the excuse of "you made me do it." Grow up and take some responsibilty.

¡Hola Criaturas! ^^

Brain not found.
Obviulsy not.

REVIEW FOR THE WHOLE SERIES!
3.5 out of 5 stars!

I actually like the story and the drawing is also good. Though, I'm confused at some parts because the story sometimes felt like it's going to fast and the changes in the events felt like there's no connection lol. But I like how the story turned out. I'm kinda annoyed when both of them cheated on each other because I really hate the idea of cheating but on a brighter side, atleast they found themselves back in each other's arms. I also like that this manga is strongly portraying the meaning of love. Good job author!

Today I’m having yet another work by Mayu Shinjo. It’s a relatively small story compared to Sensual Phrase only 7 volumes long. However, I’ll be doing two reviews on it, so look forward to the next one somewhere next week! Why did I decide to make to reviews? Well, because the story has two events, therefore I want to cover each separately. Today’s review will cover Kirara as the idol.

So let me begin: meet Kirara Nakazono – an aspiring idol, who as she herself says has no talent but has the enthusiasm to become the first!

pic 1

(That actually happens much, much later, but I just wanted to put it here) to gain popularity she takes part in various late night shows as well as some variety ones. However, everything changes when her manager – Hanamaki, throws he inside an apartment with words: “get your body out there and get a job!”

pic 2

Yes, it does happen! It also doesn’t help the situation that Kirara is a virgin. But don’t forget this is a romance story; therefore a silver-haired prince (Wolf in disguise) appears to help Kirara! However, his motives are not all that pure and you’ll be laughing when you get to read them. Who is this silver-haired prince that stole Kirara’s heart in a flash? Meet our man lead – Ginzou Fujiwara or for short Gin – the most influential man in Japan (well, after his dad and grandpa). He takes a strange interest in Kirara and wants to make her his. Will he succeed? And by succeeding I mean to make both Kirara’s body and heart completely his. Start reading now and find out, how Fin will be trying to seduce Kirara!

Now, you can stop reading if you are afraid of spoilers, as I’ll be discussing some issues that are tightly related to spoilers. But if you are interested, please continue! This story as Sensual Phrase is set in the world of Showbiz. However, we get to see how the author actually makes fun of some things. Surely there are serious moments too, like when Kirara conforms Gin in the very beginning about her dream, but the way Gin changes everything on a whim if he doesn’t like something is just comical. The best issue is Kirara’s virginity and her accused lewdness. I just couldn’t stop laughing when Gin is accusing he of being a pervert because her room is small. Her phrase: “Let me lick you” just made me fall down from the chair even when I was reading for the third time. I knew that she would say it, but the impact was still too strong. There are numerous jokes about Gin and Kirara, but in the end he still makes her his, that is a problem arises.

Gin being Gin is a very selfish and jealous person. As soon as he falls hard for Kirara he becomes a hardcore possessive boyfriend. His stunts and idiotic behavior made me laugh before Kirara was a virgin

well actually even after that. But as soon as he gets her, his jealousy was overwhelming. He wanted Kirara only for himself and even told her to leave the entertainment world. Here comes the problem. Kirara wanted to achieve her dream, so they became enemies, and now without Gin how will Kirara manage to climb to the top again? She will and it will be a hard journey especially if Gin is trying to sabotage her. But if you thought that Kirara was a complete idiot in the beginning, you get to see her differently now. She is a strong willed person who wants to achieve her dream and return to the one she loves the most!

Are you ready to read Kirara and Gin’s story? It’s full of love, fantastic humor and lots of misunderstandings that make you laugh. You’ll also get to see one of your favourite characters from Sensual Phrase to appear! Don’t miss the 2nd review of this fabulous story, as now it’s Gin’s turn to climb to the top! Enjoy it to its fullest and don’t forget to share your thoughts below! Stay tuned for more reviews as well as promos. Don’t miss your next favourite book or manga! Happy reading!

XOXO

Lmfao...wow! This isn't what I was expecting. After reading really cutesy high school mangas this was definitely different. I knew from the description that this wasn't going to be squeaky clean, but I was still a bit thrown off. I don't think this is smutty exactly, but it's kinda mega raunchy throughout. The worst they've shown is boobs, but I don't care. I'm a girl so it's not a big deal.

All these characters are messed up. Especially Kirara's manager. What a creeper! He's always making all these awkward sexual comments towards her. Does he like Kirara or something? I don't understand Kirara. I'm torn between thinking I feel bad for her and thinking she's kinda super slutty.

The main thing I have to talk about is Gin. Wow, where do I start? The guy is some kinda sex addict or something. I swear he jumped a good deal of women just in the first volume alone. Personally, I feel like Gin has some rapist tendencies. He's constantly forcing himself on random girls. Poor Kirara is getting mauled by him all the time. I don't get what her deal with him is. She acts like she's not into it, but then she's thinking, 'omg, Gin you are super cute!'. Also, I don't know why she'd want him to begin with because he seems like he's into some freaky stuff. He kept groping her and talking about how he's turned on by making girls cry. Ok then...whatever floats your boat I suppose. If Kirara wants this kind of guy, I wish them luck. I will admit though that he actually is really really cute looking. Not that that let's him get away from acting like a rapist, but the author drew him pretty good. Also, I liked the scene with Kirara and Gin and she asked to touch his hair cause it looked pretty. I'll be honest, that scene was kinda adorable...

Overall, I feel like a pervert for reading this manga. The art is actually really nice and I guess I'll read more.

HAHAHA I love watching the rich and famous get all flustered when they don't understand what's happening in front of them. Kirara wants to be a star yet she doesn't have talent so her manager tells her to go out and sell her body to someone with 'authority'. She tries, ultimately she fails but she does catch the eye of one of the most richest men/boy in the country. She ends up slapping him to her manager's dismay. But turns out he is really interested in her, and so this manga is about their romance, and how Gin deals with his feelings for the little virgin and how Kirara finds fame.

Unlike Skip Beat this manga is focussed on romance, specifically Kirara and Gin's romance. It's really funny watching their characters interact (especially when Kirara's manager retracts his former command - to sleep with someone to be famous - and tells her instead to preserve it otherwise Gin will be bored). Even funnier is Gin's reactions when he's being ordered around - since he usually orders other people around. So funny! (But a little ecchi, so if you don't like nudity in manga... PLUS this is a mature manga so don't just pick it up lightly)

OMG GIN IS A SPOILED BRAT. If you read this, then you should read it for Gin's level of spoiled brat syndrome - it's hilarious! (Unfortunately his chracterisation is the only think I can suggest since the rest of it is just drama and more drama. The female MC is okay, sometimes I hate her naivety. Sometimes I like it. As for Gin, he's a brute, but I like that he gets all aggravated when he's ordered about like a commoner.)

I'm kind of torn between liking & not liking this manga.

So far there's a lot of cute scenarios & I really enjoy the interaction between our two main characters. However, there's where the problem is. Gin & Kirara have some wonderful chemistry & I love how they're drawn, but Kirara's an idiot. She spends a lot of time crying & wailing over her situation. When she does actually take some sort of action, it's to do what others say she should do. She's just not as kick butt, take charge like many of the other characters Shinjo has created. I like variety in heroines, but Kirara is really wishy washy to the point where even Belldandy (as much as I love her, she's a doormat extraordinaire) seems like an authoritative figure in comparison.

I really want to give this a higher rating since I really do like it, I just can't bring myself to love it as much as I want to.

Smutty, romantic, tragic, it had all the feelings we would love to experience in a book! Kirara was an adorable, naive girl in the beginning, I loved it, but after she was used, she changed drastically (and I do not only mean her haircut & hair color!). I was super psyched when her popularity skyrocketed, & I wouldn't say anything about the sexual scene with Gin; I loved them together, they seemed to complete each other. Overall, it was a great manga which I might probably re-read sometime soon!

Heroine becomes hot guy's plaything. Heroine is a spineless moron. Hero is a pushy, disrespectful pervert. I hate when I stumble upon these Mangas. Blah.

This is one Josei manga where I tend to cup my cheek and say 'Oh my' a lot. Storywise, it's pretty 'abnormal' in some ways, but we all need to remind ourselves that this is a smut manga. Sadly, I read this before Kaikan Phrase, because this story turns out to be rather a later-on spin off. I do say there's nothing wrong reading this, but unlike Kaikan Phrase, this doesn't make me want to read it over and over again.

Rating: 3 stars.

I don't like the heroine. And again, Mayu Shinjo and her rape and controlling heroes! Sometimes I wonder why she's my favourite mangaka. T__T
