Fae dragon shifter Cullen is still adjusting to becoming a guardian of the space between the human world and all the other dimensions he's tied to. He and his two brothers are dealing with dragons and babies and more, and he doesn't think he can handle much beyond that.

Which is when the unicorn shows up.

When a friend tells him that a house up in the mountains in Colorado is having some weird goings on, unicorn shifter Orion heads up to make sure no one is in any kind of distress. But once he's in the dragon guardian's house, he finds out he can't leave unless one of the fae dragon brothers goes with him. Which would be fine if he and Cullen weren't fated mates and there wasn't a pesky vampire problem out in the human world.

Cullen and Orion have all the problems of any families, mate bonds, and tons of insecurities. Will fighting off vampires be too much to handle on top of all of that?

This is an mpreg romance with gargoyle babies, hilarious beaver shifters, and a lot of magical family wildness.

I really enjoyed it. Cullen's story was just as satisfying as Cosmo's. I really like how Cullen and Orion pair as a couple and how they mesh with the family as a whole. I'm very curious and interested in Corbin though, we get a peek as to what to expect for his book and it feels like it's going to be good!

Cullen is the second book in the Dragon Guardians series. This book could be read as a standalone but the series is best read in order. This is the story of Cullen a fae dragon shifter and Orion a unicorn shifter. I love Minerva Howe's dragon books so much. This is another wonderful story with a great plot and wonderful characters. I love watching these two together as they figure things out. I would definitely recommend reading the first book in the series because it tells about the brothers and what they have to do. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.

Cullen by Minerva Howe is the second book in her Dragon Guardians series. I suggest you read the first book before this one as it contains reoccurring characters and how they came to be. It is the story of a half fae, half dragon and a unicorn that meet and fall in love while guarding portals to other realms. Cullen is a fae dragon who along with his brothers, Corbin and Cosmos with his mate Hawk live on the mountain where they each have houses that are linked together. Each one has a door that opens to other lands including the Summer lands, the human world, and Lunestra where the dragons live. It is their job to guard them against anyone or anything that would invade or hurt those placees, especially vampires. Each of them has a special trait, Cosmos is a seer, Corbin has an affinity for plants, and Cullen is an illusionist and is able to provide glamour for them when they enter into human territories. They are enjoying their lives, especially since Cosmos recently had Elliot, their gargoyle child who Cullen adores. Then one day a unicorn, Orion, shows up at their door because his good friend Yarrow, a beaver shifter, has noticed changes to the house in the mountains where he usually spends the winter and wants him to check to see if it is safe, especially since the people he noticed were there before have disappeared. Orion is a spy, PI, and psychic whose main job has been to find lost children and return them or take them to the Glade where his parents live. Once they meet, they both have an immediate attraction and feel protective towards each other and when they can hear the other’s thoughts in their heads they know something is going on. When Cosmo has a vision that they must protect Orion at all costs they realize just how special he is. After concealing themselves with glamour they go to town to meet Yarrow and it is then that Orion realizes that he is going to stay with the brothers and help defend them and the other worlds. He also realizes he is deeply in love with Cullen which leads to a very hot love scene when Cullen realizes he is starting to feel the same. As time goes on they learn about their hoards, go to the dragon lands and meet Cullens father and to the Summer Lands to meet his mother and when Cullen has some strange illusions that he can’t control he finds out he is pregnant and both are very happy about this. Orion has been estranged with his fathers and has been gone for along time looking for lost children but he does go to visit them in the Glade when he has some questions about what is happening. It is then that he finds out that he has been missed and they go back and visit them often, especially since his da has cookies that help with Cullen’s illusions. Then a fae friend of Cullen’s mother shows up and asks the guardians to look for her missing nephew that the vampires have taken. Corbin, Orion, and Hawk go looking and are successful, but bringing back the young man causes more problems which Orion is helpful with, and also with brings an unusual magical creature that becomes their son. The story ends with the birth of their “butterfly” Serena who turns out to be quite the mix of dragon, fae, and unicorn and they are very happy. I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Howe has created quite an interesting world with lands for humans, fae, dragons, and other shifters who have magic. Both Orion and Cullen are quite snarky with each other but that adds to their appeal and how they fall in love. They both have soft hearts but are strong when they need to be. Cosmos, Elliot, Cullin, Hawk, and their parents also play a big part in the story, especially Elliot who often steals the scenes he is in. And the problems with the vampires add some suspense to the story. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like stories that include dragons, fae, unicorns and other magical creatures who are guardians to the portals to other worlds, who fight the vampires who are trying to take over all of them, and find a lasting love that includes having very cute children.

Review:

Oh when I tell you I was waiting for this one!! (And now that I’ve devoured it, I’m waiting for Corbin’s book haha) I fell in love with Cosmo, Cullen and Corbin the moment I met them. They’re the perfect fae dragons to be guardians of the portals and Orion is a wonderful new addition.

Cullen and Orion truly are a perfect match. Of course you expect that when getting into a fated mates book however, these two really made me think from their first interaction “yes, these two are meant for each other.” Then as they spent time getting to know each other, you could see how much Cullen and Orion truly match each other. One of my favorite parts of them is how much illusion magic brings them together. They’re both so used to hiding themselves with illusions, being able to find that person to let down their illusions with was absolutely beautiful. It was through using their illusion magic they’re able to find each other in a much more genuine, true way.

Orion was a rather lonely unicorn when a job led him straight into the fae dragon family he didn’t know he needed. The way they blended together so seamlessly was beautiful. Cullen feels content and happy with his life not realizing he’s missing anything until his perfect unicorn comes a knocking. From the love at first sight - the immediate flirting *chefs kiss* - to falling in step together was such a fun experience. Not only was it fun it was so funny!! I laughed out loud so many times. The vibes of this entire universe are immaculate. At the end, I wanted more of Cullen and Orion. I am very much looking forward to seeing them in later books.

I have been following the Dragon Veil Universe Minerva Howe has created for several years and with each new release I get more excited. In this one, Minerva introduced new varieties of shifters (obsessed with beaver shifters now 😆) which - for me - has opened up the world in so many new ways. Yes, even more than the different worlds they’re already in. I always look forward to the little peaks at how past characters are doing in line with how they help the main couple along. This series - this world - will always be one of my favorites.

I'm at 35% and it's seriously pissing me off. I mean...the series always felt...a little...odd, with the way it was written. It felt ridiculous, and not in a good way. But i got past it, as it was still a pretty good series. Even if some things were also kinda confusing.
But this one is just so freakin' confusing, that it's irritating me enough to feel pissed off. One example being Orion's first conversation with Cullen as Hawk joins them, and where I'm at now, at 35,2%, with Cullen and the polka dots. Like...what the heck? He's covered in them, but he dries his hair and sparkles fall off? Like...what? Where exactly is he covered in polka dots? His body? His hair? And then sparkles too?
If I'm barely at this percentage, and I'm already feeling irritated with freakin' CONFUSING it is... I don't have high hopes for the rest of it. I'm too pissed to keep reading it right now, to be honest.
And you know what? This feels waaay to similar to the way Lorelei M. Hart's writing has ended up lately, with them seeming to not give a s**t about whether their book makes sense. I'm really hoping Minerva Howe isn't going down the same path. This series has always been a bit confusing, wonky and quirky, and odd, but not confusing enough to piss me off and get me to stop reading it. But this book totally is that. I just had to come here and write it, take this anger out of me by giving it 2 stars and saying how freaking disappointed I am in this book.
It's horrible when you're looking forward to a book and it comes out, and it's incredibly disappointing. I definitely can't make myself finish it now, unless I skip the irritating confusing scenes. But I don't know yet... I'm too irritated 🥺🥺🥺
The only reason I'm not giving 1 star, is because some of it is good, and I miss the previous characters so I liked them being mentioned a bit. But also, where the heck are the guys from the Dragon Prophecy series? Didn't they get to the dragon realm too, for crying out loud? And yet they haven't been mentioned at all so far. Same as with the Solitary Dragons guys. And it's frustrating.
I really hope Minerva Howe won't go down the same path as Lorelei M. Hart, because i do NOT want to stop reading yet another author....

When Cullen, a purple half fae/half dragon, discovers his destined mate is a unicorn stallion - not everything is sunshine and rainbows. At least, not at first. He and Orion start out on the wrong hoof *ahem* foot, so it takes a bit for the trust to grow between them. It makes the relationship more relatable to the reader and requires much less suspension of disbelief. . . well, not any more than dragon and unicorn shifters already do.

Orion is the kind of guy who has been on a mission to rescue changelings, orphaned shifter babies, and other young ones in need to send to his fathers to nurture and care for for more centuries than her cares to admit. He's really got at his job, in fact. But when a quick errand to help out a friend leads him to his mate, the unicorn is more than happy to help Cullen watch over the gates to other realms and keep them safe from vampires and human hunters alike. He is a likeable character, adaptable, caring, and very excited to meet his forever companion.

Cullen is the bestest uncle. He adores kids, and his sweet nephew is at the top of his list of favorite people. He makes a great daddy, too - although it was a bit surprising that he was the omega/carrier in the couple. But what can one do when your partner is a literal stallion? Their dymanic is sweet and funny and both MLs are easy to love.

The pacing is quick, but not rushed. The humor is light and grin-inducing. This book is a fantastic follow-up to Cosmo and leaves the reader excited to read the next installment in the series.

Recommended for fans of Taylor Rylan, Lacey Daize, and the late Suse Hawke.

“Cullen” by Minerva Howe is the second book in the ‘Dragon Guardian’ series, and introduces Orion, a unicorn shifter, who is the fated mate of Cullen, one of the dragon shifter brothers who is a guardian in the house that has exits into several different worlds. The two of them enjoy finding out what they have in common and how their powers can complement each other, even as they struggle to keep all they hold dear safe in the increasingly perilous world they are living in.

This adult paranormal gay romance is part of the spin-off series that centers around dragons and their mates that are occupying a very special house. Although I still have a bit of a hiccup with the mpreg aspect, and I was sometimes disconcerted by the erratic passage of time in the story, I enjoyed the variety of shifters, including a beaver named Yarrow, and the hybrids that are introduced in each story. The combination of adorable and precocious kids—some with wings, some with hooves, many with sharp teeth—and the grumpy and expectant dads, plus the hint of danger due to the voracious vampire threat make this a fun and quick read. There are a few dangling threads that make me anxious to see what happens next in this world, and there are wonderful glimpses of the other worlds the dragons and unicorn are connected to. I look forward to seeing what happens with the next dragon brother and his mate, not to mention the chaos that will ensue as some of the little ones mature.

Minerva Howe writes dragon series that we love to fall into and the Dragon Guardian series is a continuation of A Dragon Veil Universe mpreg romance series.
When the dragon veil recently opened, they left behind Cosmo and his two brothers, Cullen and Corbin, to guard the gateway between worlds. The brothers are half Fae half Dragon which allows them to pass through into the different realms they guard. Cosmo has already found his mate and is very pregnant, so Cullen and Corbin have taken over all of the Guardian duties.
Orion is a sassy alpha unicorn shifter with abandonment issues. When his beaver shifter friend Yarrow asks Orion to check on weird goings-on at the house on the hill, Orion is spotted by Cosmo’s toddler as his hides and spies on the house. Once everyone rushes inside and Orion follows it does not take Cullen long to realize they are mates. And Orion jumps right in to cook and take care of the household.
While trying to sort out their own problems and Cullen now pregnant, Orion, Corbin and Hawk have to sort out a vampire problem when a Fae is kidnapped by them. Vampires have already wiped out half of their dragon family and this nest needs to be destroyed. And Orion brings home a surprise for Cullen.
Happy dragons and another feel good MM shifter romance. I love all of her dragon series, and this one did not disappoint. Waiting on Corbin to get his HEA.

Fantastic!

I loved this book! Cullen is the next brother to get his mate, who just happens to be a unicorn! Orion goes up to the house intending to find out who lives there now in order to help his friend, Yarrow, who is a beaver shifter with family lands in the area of the guardian’s house. The brothers are a little weary of Orion at first but it isn’t long until it’s obvious that Cullen and Orion are mates. Orion will return home to visit his fathers to find that he wasn’t as unwanted as he thought and it will give them a chance to enjoy their relationship again. Orion’s rescue talents will be needed as Arian’s nephew has been kidnapped by vampires and it will lead them to quite the surprise. Things get tense between the brothers as Arian’s nephew heals but as Cullen and Orion are waiting for the arrival of their own special baby, it will soon be a thing of the past. I love the way Cullen and his brothers get along and how their little family continues to grow with such wonderful friends and mates! I can’t wait to read what comes next!

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

Cullen is a fae dragon shifter. He and his two brothers, Cosmo and Corbin, are tasked as guardians of the portal to other worlds. He is struggling to adjust when a unicorn shows up on the doorstep. Orion is there is ensure the residents are doing okay as he has had reports of rampaging vampires. Cullen invited him in and Orion finds he cannot leave unless one of the brothers is with him. It works well as Cullen is his fated mate but there is still that vampire problem that needs addressing.

Cullen had so many new issues. He was a guardian and finds himself mated which is great. He quickly becomes pregnant which is also great. Misunderstandings abound as they try to figure out mated life while dealing with hormones. The vampire problem also needs to be addressed. Cullen makes for great reading. The kindness and compassion all the residents show is amazing. They are more than willing to help when and what they can. Cullen and Orion are no different and things change drastically for them as a result. Their love helps. I look forward to more.

Another great addition to the Dragon Veil Universe. It was nice to get to know Cullen better and to meet his mate. Orion was clearly meant for him. This book was not as spicy as some others in this universe, but it was in no way lacking. In fact, it did not even occur to me until I was thinking back over the book. Cullen’s story is full of action and adorable kids. I just love seeing kids grow up throughout the series. Little Eliott adjusting to his new position in the family was so realistic. I’m looking forward to seeing his new sibling and new cousins. Tisi and Serena are already adorable. Faedragicorn - love it.

This book was mostly at the house. They didn’t spend as much time in Lunastra, but I was entertained by the traveling, and methods of travel, to other dimensions. I like when a book surprises me, when I am waiting for something to happen and then something happens but not what I expected or when I expected it. Good stuff! Now, I’m excited to see what happens with Corbin and he who has yet to wake.

**4.5**
I really enjoy reading this world that Minerva Howe has created. It's full of wonderful characters, this time adding Orion to the group, a unicorn shifter. Cullen is the one of the triplets meeting his mate this time, after Cosmo in book one.
Cullen and Orion are quite similar in some ways - illusionists with their magic, shifters, and working to protect others - but Orion has spent many years now by himself, rescuing magical creatures, whereas Cullen has always been part of a unit, with his brother's and the found family group across all the veils that they protect. They do work very well together as mates, instantly clicking and developing feelings for each other. I felt for Orion and his feelings about back home in The Glade.
The romance is very low angst, as is most of the story, but danger lurks in the form of vampires in the human realm who have been snatching magical beings to feed from.
Another great addition to the Dragon Veil universe, and to this series. Looking forward to Corbin's story and the Fae they rescued.

The triplets, Cullen, Cosmo and Corbin are still getting used to life as guardians of portals to other worlds. Cullen's mate finds his way to them when Orion is asked to investigate a changing structure on land that his friend Yarrow has noticed. Orion thinks he was well hidden as he investigated but he is seen by Cullen's nephew so he feels compelled to go to the house to find out more about the beings he has seen. That is when Cullen realizes that he has found his mate, a unicorn shifter. Things happen quickly for this couple from meeting to feeling a pull toward one another to pregnancy and learning how to navigate their relationship. But all of this happens with a lot of support from their community and while they also work to resolve pesky issues with vampires. This one was a lot of fun and dragon/unicorn mixed babies made this even more delightful. I am looking forward to Corbin's story.

I love the brothers. Cosmo's book was sweet & full of fun. So was Cullen's book. And I can't wait for Corbin's who we did get a glimpse of. I do not recommend reading this one as a standalone. Orion is a unicorn, my favorite and need way more unicorns. Orion's friend Yarrow who is a beaver shifter, asks him to go check on the house as he doesn't see the people living there and the kids. Imagine Orion's surprise he shows up and finds his mate. Corbin has a vision where he sees someone who has been taken by the vampires, and in this series, vampires are majorly evil. We have them finding the person who was taken along with a surprise. I really wish there would have been more of a battle, but I get it. I can't wait for the next book.

I rec'd a copy of this book from GRR, and this is my honest review.

Luff Conkle, cinnamon rolls, Buc-ee's trucker hat, GAR-GILL!, 'our butterfly', fried tofu sandwich, manchachicoj, maple logs, golden blood, butter carrots, faedragicorn, bud.da.fly.

This is delightful and sweet. Especially darling are dragon shifter toddler Elliott and Pegasus shifter baby Tisi. Book 1 was triplet Cosmo's and Hawk's story. This book is about another triplet brother violet dragon shifter"Cullen" and unicorn shifter Orion. It isn't necessary to have read Book 1 first; it's helpful though. Since there's the other triplet brother Corbin, I'm guessing the next book is about him. It's kinda set up in this book with fae Evander.

This story is low angst and mild spicy. Cuteness and magic abounds. Oh, and lots of emojis! There is a somewhat tense scene. The story is entertaining and enjoyable. I recommend it.

Cullen and his unicorn, Orion, were adorable!

I really do love this whole universe and especially that we get to dip into the different realms the triplets are guardians over (including Orion's realm which is fascinating and I'm hoping we get to see more of his fathers). Cullen is such a sweetie - I've found him the most intriguing of the triplets. He has a sense of fun and sweetness to him that is particularly endearing and I loved that he got to have a mate who would be able to share that with him so completely. Orion was such a good match for Cullen; strong, sweet and so full of love for Cullen. We were left on a touch of a cliff-hanger this time but it related to external events to Cullen and Orion's relationship so it didn't make me sad haha. I'll be interested to see how it works out and I'm excited for what it means in terms of the work the triplets do!

4.25 stars!

This is book two of the author’s Dragon Guardians series and features Cullen, one of the dragon/fae triplets assigned as guardians to protect the portal to Lunastra, the land of the dragons and Orion, a smooth talking unicorn who falls at the first sight of Cullen. Oh and the babies, they were adorable, especially Elliott, aka gargoyle. He was seriously the cutest thing.

This wasn’t really an easy book to summarize— not that it wasn’t a good book, I loved it just as much as I did the previous book, Cosmo—it’s just hard to do without repeating the entire plot and that was unnecessary since the blurb was pretty self explanatory. Overall, I really enjoyed reading it, it was funny, steamy and SO sweet; I’m already looking forward to Corbin’s book. 4.25 stars!

This is book 2 in this series and I recommend reading the first one as it deals with the three brothers. The story starts with Orion at a restaurant with his beaver friend Yarrow, letting him know there are some weird things happening up in the mountains. He buys camping gear and decides to go and investigate. Corbin and Cullen are watching over their nephew when they decide to have a bbq. When Elliott starts saying about a unicorn, they disguised him and went back to the house. After a bit of time, they hear a knock on the door. This is the start of the boom with Cullen and Orion realizing they are mates. They also need to go and rescue a fae who was taken by vampires, Orion making up with his fathers, and having babies. I love this world building and I cannot wait for Corbin’s book.

Delightful! Cullen is adjusting to his new role as Guardian. Thank goodness his brothers are there to ground him because he is feeling a bit overwhelmed. He thinks he's at his end and can't take anymore, then Orion, a unicorn shows up. Tanner, Orion's friend mentions there are strange happenings in the mountains. Orion's protector button is pushed and he goes to explore. When Orion and Cullen see each other their protector buttons are pushed simultaneously. There is a flirty coy dance we must watch while they embrace what they are feeling. Good story, sweet, nicely done. We get to observe a cute adventure with a few surprises. Nicely done. Cullen is the second book in Minerva Howe's Dragon Guardians series. Cullen is one of the Dragon shifters who protects the various realms and he meets Orion, a unicorn shifter and private investigator. Orion specializes in finding missing beings, usually children. The two are instantly attracted and realize they're mates.
There's spice and snark in this story, making it a fun and funny read. The main characters do not 'meet cute' although this reader certainly found it so. Their friends are adorable and Corbin and Cosmos, Cullen's brothers, are very supportive and quite hot. Just a touch of vampire danger and the book has a bit of realm jumping. Basically what you'd expect from Minerva Howe, who always delivers.

I was very entertained by this fun, fluffy and heartwarming PNR. It has Minerva Howe's usual excellent world building and it has dragons of course. The story is centered on Cullen, a sweet fae dragon, who creates wonderful illusions that entertain and please the eye.  He meets Orion, a unicorn shifter, and they are perfect mates for each other. Orion can help Cullen and his two brothers to guard the portals to the fae world and the dragon lands. I was very entranced by the idea of portals to different worlds, different seasons and different creatures. I liked all the other characters in the book, especially the children. I can't wait to read Corbin's story next in this enjoyable series.

Another absolutely fabulous addition to the Dragon Veil Universe. I am just so thrilled that Minerva Howe was able to link all her Dragon clans together. This book is the second instalment in the Dragon Guardians series and I was bowled over. I loved the addition of Orion and another certain winged creature. I really like Minerva Howe’s voice when she is writing about our dragons and I loved the new characters that were introduced in this story of which I am hoping we will see more. I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment when we will hopefully get Corbin’s story and maybe some answers to a few questions raised in this book. I hope this world never ends!

Cullen and Orion story was interesting, hilarious, and a bit dangerous with an adrenaline rush.
A dragon-fae and a unicorn pairing brings us further in the ongoing adventure with more secrets revealed and a couple of new friends that joined the big family.
The kids with their shenanigans and adorableness will brighten up the day, as well as the teasing between the characters.
I enjoyed the worlds depicted as well as the new one that was quite special.
I liked the story, and I’m looking forward to the next one.

2nd guardian book and it was weirdly fun read. New characters that were hilarious and the three brother dragon/fae shenanigans. This book was mostly about Cullen the illusionist brother finding Orion...his mate who is a unicorn. A little push and pull in the beginning but resistance was futile when it came to the chemistry the two had. Not too angsty...a little family drama but all in all it was all love and happiness. I really enjoy these books and can't wait to read more.

After watching Cullen, Corbin and Elliott in the yard cooking and playing, Orion a unicorn shifter knocks on the door. He has to find out if Yarrow a beaver shifter is safe in this area. Cullen immediately asks him to leave and never come back. Cosmos their other triplet is about due to have his second child. Cosmos, Cullen and Corbin are the guardians of the other realms. Orion is not dissuaded because he feels Cullen is his mate. This is a funny romantic story with a touch of danger and plenty of chaos a fun read.

Cullen and Orion are cute. I really love the fae/ dragon and unicorn pairing. I also love that the babies in this series can really be anything. One of my favorite things about this book is the guys answering the door and asking if the person knocking is a vampire. The vampires are a serious concern to the world created by the author, but would a vampire admit they were. No matter the answer, this is a pretty fun book. I enjoyed seeing the ties these characters have to the rest of Dragon Veil universe.

I love this authors Dragon Veil universe books! It is time for Cullen to meet his mate. He probably was not expecting a unicorn! I loved it! Orion is the perfect mate for this sparkling fae-dragon with his own set of sparkles. It is also nice to see some familiar faces from beyond the Veil. The original little dragons are all growing up! We have another guardian for the portal and his beaver friend, I can’t wait to see how Corbin’s story turns out.

The second of the triplets stories has a definite bite to it. Cullen, who is the more snarky of the siblings, but with a heart full of love for his family and friends, is not immediately enamored with his mate Orion. But you can't ignore someone of pure light and love for long. Together they navigate their relationship bringing family together and in the middle of it all still doing rescues. I thoroughly enjoy these stories and am happy we still get to see old friends.
