Rich, popular Kate Hewitt destroys lives at Sussex High. Mute, violent Kev Anderwaith hasn't been to school in months. On the day Kev does return, Kate is shocked when the overgrown, social outcast sits next to her in class and claims they've both lived previous lives, and keep finding each other, throughout the centuries, falling in love every time.
“It doesn’t matter who I am. It just matters who you are. Years ago… before you were born… you were my mother.”
This was a story about a teenage mean girl, and reincarnation.
The main character in this book, Kate, was an absolute Grade A. mean girl. She would have eaten Regina George for breakfast and then complained that she was too chewy. Practically every word out of her mouth was hateful, every thought she had was purely selfish, and she couldn’t even be civil to her own mother!
“Are you a farmer or something? You seem like you’re straight off a pile of cow-plop.”
The storyline in this revolved around mean girl Kate, and another boy at school (who she thought was scum), and a shared problem with an old man who thought they were his reincarnated parents, and some sort of supernatural thing that was going on.
“Christ, this guy’s going to try to make me believe I was a farmer’s wife. This is so f*cked.”
There was some romance, although Kate really did not want to admit that she liked this boy who was supposed to be her soul-mate at all. I was quite surprised when she actually started to act like she cared though, as it seemed really out of character!
“She kissed him, wanting to protect him from all hurt.”
The ending to this was pretty good, and I liked that we got a bit of action. I also liked the little surprise twist at the end. 7 out of 10.
I don't know where to even start... I only decided to read this because it was free on iBooks so I decided to give it a try because I was looking for something random to read.
I wouldn't really call this a book since it was so short, but it was still enjoyable. I was interested by the story, thought it definitely needed some work. Kate was such a jerk in the beginning and I almost just said "screw this" and sat it down. However, Kev was really the reason I kept up with the story. I was generally surprised with the twist of Kate's "Mark" and I'm actually interested about what's to come...
Hmm this is still tough. I don't know how I really feel about this.
I decided to read this book because it was available for free on Amazon and the cover/title intrigued me. I usually find some hidden gems this way, or horrible unedited books that are even difficult to read. This book, however, wasn't neither of these things: it was just ok. The plot was really interesting - it's about two souls that keep coming back in different bodies and founding each other in the world. I know.. if that's not enough to catch your attention, I don't know what will.
I also really loved the characters and the pace of the story - not too fast, not too slow. The ending was a major cliffhanger, but I don't think it was done right. I hate when authors purposely don't end a story just so you'll buy the next book. It's like they don't trust their own work and think that the only way to sell another book is by appealing to human curiosity. By the way, that's the main reason why this rating is not higher.
I would consider this insta-love, which I usually don't like, but since it's a soulmates finding themselves over and over again I'm into it. The two main characters are really cute together. They come from different backgrounds and there's this social stigma that they can't be together, but they're always drawn to each other. The girl is a little "bitchy", but I still liked her. The writing could use some work, but nothing that makes it difficult to understand or anything.
This book is available for free and I liked it. I don't know if I would still have the same opinion had I payed money for it.. I guess we will never know. I would consider purchasing the sequel, but I don't see myself doing that anytime soon because of my mile-long TBR. If you enjoy YA romance, I think you would really enjoy this story. Again, it's free.. You don't loose anything, so I would recommend checking it out for yourself.
Forever is not a bad book or a good one but I can't say I was interested to know what was going to happen and where was the story heading.
I felt the character could have used a little development. They came off a bit unbelievable and their bond not string enough. Kate turned from a snob to loving quickly. Even though I supposed that's her old self coming back but still she didn't take long to fight it and it didn't provide the emotional conflict for her for long enough to guarantee her development. Thus why I felt it was rushed.
The writing was good and not boring and I hope I will read more from this author.
the synopsis for this sounded fairly interesting so I gave it a try. Honestly, if it hadn't been so short I would not have finished. I was not a fan of the writing, although I do think with some polishing that could be improved.
The story was all over the place to me. I did not enjoy Kate as a character (or really any of the characters). She was so silly in the worst ways. She was constantly running into situations without thinking about them. And her throughts were all over the place. One minute she was hating someone, the next wanting to kiss them. Just not a fan of this one.
This book was beyond confusing (or maybe it was just me). Everyone was a freaking jerk, I didn’t sympathize with any character, everything was just jumbled and thrown on paper then slapped with the title “book”.
okay. So this is another book that I am totally torn about. Let me start off with saying that I love the concept of this book. I love that it is different and out there. Sure, the writing could use "some work" but it was bearable. Nothing that bothered me too much. But Kate has become the most hated character for me that I have ever read. I understand that the author wanted us to understand that she is on the richer side and maybe a tad bit snobby. But the author went overboard and excuse me language, made her a complete bitch and that actually took away from the story. All you want to do is roll your eyes and shake your head at Kate and everything she says is so stupid and rude that you forget to pay attention to what is happening. However, she gets better towards the end. And the cliffhanger is honestly getting to me. So I am going to continue the series. But hopefully Kate has an attitude adjustment.
Wow, I'm genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. It has an interesting plot of a boy and girl who have lived multiple lives and in every life, their souls always seem to find each other again.
Kate was annoying as all hell in the beginning of the story. Straight up mean girl who was completely rude to her mom and anyone outside of her "clique". Then there's Kev who from his introduction, you knew would be the love interest. She hated him too much at the start.
I've been reaching for a lot of cheesy love stories lately, but was completely hooked when I first started reading this one. The plot twist was interesting even though it was understandably predictable.
I was going to give this 4 stars originally because of how easily annoyed I was of Kate, but I grew to like her by the end, so fuck it, 5 stars.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I got this book for free on Amazon, not expecting it to be anything too wonderful. The beginning of the book is tough to get through, but it's a short one, so I was determined to power through. I'm really glad I did. Although the writing could have been more developed for a more well rounded story, the plot was very entertaining. I'm definitely interested in reading more of the story.
A badly written, poorly constructed shell of a book. Terrible character develop—all are just sums of cliches. Unrealistic dialogue. And the book just ends with no conclusion at all—a greedy attempt to turn one book into several.
The only good thing it has going for it is that it’s very short so the amount of time you spend reading it is minimal.
The book starts out slow and a little awkward but takes off after that. By the time you get to the end, you can't wait to find out what happens next. I recommend giving this book a read.
This book was really good! Every page made me want to know what was going to happen next. I feel attached to the two main characters. Reading the second book now.
As I do with any free Kindle book, I went into this one with pretty low expectations. This book certainly had some issues, but turned out to be interesting and entertaining. This is a short book so it’s a short read and this book sets up the story perfectly for the next book in the series.
Kate is the kind of character that I don’t really expect anyone to like. She is a mean girl. She is rude and insults pretty much everyone in the book at one point or another. I will admit she did grow on me a little bit, but not much. I have a feeling her character is going to do some growing up in the next three books, at least I hope so.
Kev was the bad boy with a heart of gold type character. He lives on the wrong side of town and is picked on because he’s quiet and according to everyone else, a freak. He somehow manages to put up with Kate and almost manages to convince her that she’s who he says she is.
This book desperately needed a proof-reader. There were words that were spelled wrong. There were sentences that were clearly missing words. Overall, the writing wasn’t bad enough for me to stop reading, but the errors were pretty obvious. For those who pay attention to these things there is some bad language and some violence.
This is the first book of four so be expecting a cliffhanger. This book ends with a cliffhanger and according to the author the next two books will as well. This was basically an introduction book. We don’t get too much information about the background and the history, but it sets up perfectly for the next book.
While this wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read, it did manage to keep my attention and it was short enough that I read it very quickly and found it interesting. Most likely, I will continue the series as I am kind of intrigued as to what will happen next.
First, I thought the characters in this book were pretty interesting for the most part. I honestly hated the main character, Kate, up until the middle of the book when I started growing a bit attached to her character. I couldn't really relate to her, and even though it was a crazy situation she was put into, I thought she was too close-minded for my liking. I think it was what made me not enjoy the book as much. As for Kev, our love interest, I didn't think too much of him at first. I was actually a bit turned off by him, but I eventually grew to love him truly. Most of the side characters weren't too significant in my mind honestly. I thought some of the "children" were interesting, but I want to see more from them and all of the characters to gain more of an attachment. As for the plot/story, I thought it was really intriguing--at least the concept was. Even though it wasn't too fast-paced until the end, I was still enjoying uncovering the mystery that this book presented. I truly hope the rest of the books explain a lot more and are more fast-paced. If that's the case, I'll love the series 10x more! As for the writing style, I thought it was pretty interesting. It was really descriptive and simply elegant if that makes sense? I truly love how the writing was so descriptive, but still kept the story really mysterious. Another minor thing that I wanted to mention was the "About the Author" portion at the end of the book! I always read these parts of books, however, Eric Marier's really got my attention. It actually made me fall in love with his writing/book a bit more to be honest. Overall, I gave this book a 3/5 stars. It was almost a 2.5, but I really enjoyed the end and felt a bit more connected to the story. I truly hope the rest of the series is a lot better because I love the story idea and the potential relationship in this book!
SENSUALITY RATING: Profanity UP THE MAX (I do not recommend this book for teens); NO sexual encounters
GENRE: Modern day; Sci-fi; Reincarnation
SETTING: Sussex High School, Vermont; the Dell, a poor community
CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: KATE Hewitt – rich, conceited; leader of a 3 girl posse of snobs.
CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: KEV Anderwaith – 6 ft. 5; huge build; half lidded grey eyes; appears lost and sad.
SYNOPSIS: Memories; dreams at night about a time long gone. How do you convince a person of a life forgotten? It is slowly coming back to him but she has completely forgotten.
WHAT I LIKED: Feeling a constant sense of completeness when in contact with him.
WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: I am so sick of reading the EXCESSIVE use of the word “fuck”. One word can be a complete distraction from the plot; like an annoying hiccup. Also, sometimes a book can have too many character relationships which can make a plot very confusing.
OVERALL RATING: (4) stars because a great MYSTERY where the main characters ask and try to answer “who am I and what am I?”. I am curious enough to move on to book 2.
**Notes to the Reader** This book needs a who’s who so allow me to help. MARNIE: Kate’s mom; BLAINE: Kate’s younger brother (only mentioned) LAURETTE: Kev’s mom; SHAUN: Kev’s brother WANDA, MELANIE, SONIA: Kate’s posse COLE: star athlete; Kate’s ex-boyfriend ELISHA: Cole’s new girlfriend PETER: wimp protected by Kev Renee and Daniel WEAVER: parents with children Angela, Mac, Carter. SPROGUES (can only be called by the Talisman). *difference between SPENGELUM and Sprogue is not clear in this book*. HAIN: a Sprogue
**Note to Author** Do you just feel like the “f” word, which in your mind, made up for euphoric code words with sexual overtones as in romance fiction books? Either used excessively definitely distracts from the plot.
I'll start with Kate. I wasn't her biggest fan. As Hain described her she was just a "spoilt brat" and I have to agree. I'll admit that she started to mellow the further we got through the book but not much. Yeah, I get that being told you've been reincarnated for the past god knows how long would be hard to accept but to be such a bitch to everyone?
As for Kev, he seemed to be a bad boy but he was doing his best to get out of that lifestyle and I liked him for that.
The storyline was interesting. It kept me reading, which is always a good thing. I was thrown off by her not having that mark but that bit at the end...a nice revelation that has me intrigued enough to want to continue this series.
One thing that did wind me up a little. The fact that Kate could say "f*ck" but would use every other word possible for the word "sh*t", such as "faeces" and "excrement". I didn't understand that at all.
I wanted to like this book more...but I just could not!
There needs to be a warning that there is a LOT of swearing in this book. I could not count how many times the F word showed up, and did not seem to really go away as characters changed....
I also did not like that the dialogue and thinking were all rushed. It felt like it needed to be slowed down and drawn out, but instead it was just one thing after another and did not always feel genuine.
The ending for the was the worst part! I was not surprised or shocked, and it was not a "cliffhanger" as everyone said. It was kind of just sad. Having it said by a character we barley know, and spoken in a way that felt totally FAKE made me not want to keep reading.
I usually always keep reading when I find a new series, but I think this one is done for me....
I never take the time to post a review of a book I really don't like, but I did finish it, hoping it would grow on me.
This one is really, really not for me. I only kept reading because, surely the main character would end up with some redeeming qualities. Nope... got to the end and she was really the same person. Mean, rude, ungrateful, and a mouth like a sailor for no reason.
The way Kev is described, there's no way she would ever develop any feelings for him. Also, he seemed to be convinced of his past way too easily.
I didn't like the big reveal at the end. It's not like I didn't know it already, but to have it in a side conversation from a minor character? Just didn't work for me.
If you're looking for a character to get behind and root for... you won't find it in Forever.
excellent book. kev and kate have loved eachother for centuries always finding eachother the only problem is the don't start remembering till 18. kate is a spoiled brat and kev is from the wrong side of the tracks. mac kates son from her last life finds her and kev he has started to remember she has not. she is kind of conviced she is renee bit that is all swept away and her and kevs relationship she she doesn't have the birthmark to prove who she is. as kev sets off to find the next canidate kate is left broken hearted and her mother might just be the key to fix it all. loved the book and kates smart mouth so ready for book 2
So this was a decent book, the kind if your looking to read on a rainy day or a fast read. But it was kind of hard to read this book without looking at the overall problems. There was some grammatical errors not to bad, the main character was kind of a mean bee, she constantly made fun of or complained about everything instead of trying to fix the things or listen. Which made the book hard to read. Plus the relationship and the paranormal problem was really hard to follow and was on the border line of a creepy stalker feeling. But overall it was a good book and it kept me on my toes.
This was a very intriguing and interesting book. I can't wait to read the 2nd book. But I'm confused though at the end, was Kate's best friend talking about her that fell when she was little and had to get surgery and got the black design thing removed from under her buttocks? Anyway this was a very good book but I was irritated by how rude she was to her mother and the not so popular kids at her school. She was very cold to other people and snobby. That's what got me. Other than that it's a great book to read.
The synopsis peaked my interest in the beginning, and I found myself enjoying the book. However, I feel as though the writing was somewhat choppy. In the sense that there were a couple parts I had to reread to make sure I understood. I also believe more could had been added to really being this story to life for the reader, I didn't really get the sense I was truly knowing the characters. It felt like I just bounced around with them from one point to another without getting to know more about them. It was a good book, interesting plot and I am looking forward to the next book.
Plot had a lot of potential, but everything seemed very hurried
The book opens with some almost forced high school BS but never really expands much on that. The relationship between the hero/heroine is developed really quickly with almost personality from the supporting cast. The plot plunges on at a place that I wished was just a little slower with more dialogue. But also how much Life cereal can one eat???? The book took place over weeks that's all the heroine eats its repetitive and annoying.
3.5 I feel like this could be an amazing book but it's just missing something. Now don't get me wrong I throughlly enjoyed this book! I just feel the fantasy side of this book isn't enough. Maybe that's just me but this book is supposed to be about reincarnation and crazy things (You'll know what I mean if you read the book) . I felt in this book it wasn't a huge aspect. The story wasn't really focused on it. But despite all of that I believe this is a good story and can bring a lot into the fantasy world.
I am totally torn about this book. I hated Kate; not for the fact that she is questioning or doesn't understand, because let's be honest if that happened to you you would feel the same way; but because of her attitude. She's not a likeable character... A) She's a mean girl and has minions and B) she can't decide if she likes Cole or Kev and flip-flops. One minute she's almost having sex with Kev and the next mintue she's thinking about getting back together with Cole (who was a front anyways...) I'm intrigued enough to read the next book and see what happens though
This was surprisingly good. I didn't even read the synopsis so I had no idea what it was about. Two polar opposites turn out to be a couple that is reincarnated over and over and find each other when they turn 18. Kate was horrible at the beginning of this book but by the end she was beginning to change and Kev turned out to be more than a thug. I didn't see that ending coming her mother is a real piece of work. I will be reading the next book to see what happens with Kate and Kev!
