The Final Reckoning: The Last Stand Against the Unseen

Rate this book
The war was never over. It was only hiding.

When the truth about The Unseen Hand detonated across the world, Agent RJ Smith thought the worst was behind him. But in the ashes of that exposure, a darker revelation emerges—The Architect was never a man. It was a system. A self-sustaining network of global elites, engineered to eliminate anyone who gets too close to the truth.

With deadly precision, operatives begin to vanish. Whistleblowers are silenced. And Smith finds himself on a death list he helped uncover. Hunted, framed, and cut off, he must partner with Elena Ruiz once more to finish what they started—exposing the last layer of the conspiracy before it swallows them whole.

As the world edges toward collapse and betrayals come from every direction—including Amanda Cross—Smith is forced into a final confrontation. There will be no rescue. No backup. Only a reckoning.

In this explosive final chapter of The Subversion trilogy, the cost of truth is everything. Some will fall. Some will disappear. And one man will walk away from it all... if he survives.

Final Reckoning . . .

The war with The Unseen Hand was supposed to be over. But then the deaths started occurring, the body of the first one, CIA analyst Paul Garrison with a gunshot wound to his head, ruled as a suicide and quickly cremated with no autopsy, no questions, no investigation. But the next, Federal Judge Evelyn Carter, heavily involved in the Unseen Hand cases, was more unusual. Her car suddenly accelerated, ran a red light, and collided in the intersection. With no alcohol or drugs in her system, it was labeled an unexplained mechanical failure. Then James Hathaway, a National Security official, had a heart attack, young and with no previous medical conditions. He had still been working on a classified briefing for the Attorney General and his documents were destroyed for “security reasons.” And more deaths followed as “someone” was cleaning up any evidence, which was confirmed when an untraceable message was sent to Agent RJ Smith’s inbox saying: “You didn’t stop them. You only opened the next door.” Hathaway had sent the message before he ‘died of a heart attack,’ but it was wiped from every database within minutes after being sent. Apparently the war wasn’t over and now they knew what they were facing and it wasn’t going to be easy to take it down as it will eliminate anyone who gets too close to the truth.

This story is fast-paced, thrilling, and provides an increasingly exciting read from start to finish! With plenty of action, great world building, character development, and some very clever plot twists, the tension keeps building. The reader is relentlessly carried along as each event grips our attention and creates emotional responses toward the characters that make what happens to them matter. You may even feel that you are standing right beside them at times! The story will definitely provide you with a unique experience!

OMG this was a great story. It was a page turner and the suspense was so chilling but insane and intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. Now these two have to find out the truth in time and moment. With the twists and turns are not sitting well with Smith and Lucky Harris. Will the truth comes to the light and the darkness with observation of danger and life as death. Will they catch the culprit in this moment and time.
I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Trina Jones

The Final Reckoning: The Last Stand Against the Unseen (Detective Lucas Smith Series Book 3), my sixth enjoyable read from author Flynn Cooley. If there was a flaw in this book and the series is that the detective and law enforcement seem too military in nature, just saying. I enjoyed the series despite that. “I received a complementary Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018.

The sacrifices made by Smith, Alana, Elana, and Lucky in their quest to stop The Architect form the central plot of the book. I enjoyed it immensely. The action, the chase, and especially the characters made this book a real page-turner. I can't wait to read the next installment from the author.

Thanks to the author for providing me with an advance copy. I'm leaving this honest review voluntarily.

Incredibly thrilling fast paced action-packed that's full of twists you don't see coming. Smith is still chasing as ghost by the name of architect who's always one step ahead and it's one helluva bumpy ride that had me turning the pages as fast as I could read them.

They thought they had destroyed the enemy but when suddenly those related to the case are systematically eliminated, they realize that was not true.
You cannot stop reading until you find out if they find the brains behind the plot to take over the world.
Will the code be destroyed or live on?
