After Colorado, she decided to move south, living in Texas and now making her home along the Emerald Coast of Florida. You will find that the settings of several of her series are inspired by her time spent living in these areas. She has two sons and off-set the testosterone in her house by adopting three furry little ladies that provide her company while she’s locked in her writing cave. She enjoys heading to the beach, hiking, swimming, wine-tasting, and pickleball with her husband, and of course writing. If you have read any of her books, you may also notice that there is a love of food, especially sweets! She has been blamed for a few added pounds by her assistant, editor, and fans… donuts or pie anyone?
“Vieni a letto.”
Reece West had spent some of the best days of his life in the small town of Fairplay. Spending time on his uncle’s farm with his cousins, he and his brother could relax and not have to worry anything that they may have or may not have done that would warrant a vengeful beating from their dad. Now that his Dad has passed away, he’s looking for a place to settle down and Fairplay, Texas seems like a good place to start. A trip to the clinic though brought him in touch with one Melissa Holton. He hadn’t planned on settling down with a women by his side but one look at Missy and he couldn’t think of anything that sounded better.
Reece seemed a lot older to me than just twenty-five but he had been through quite a bit in his short life and his character was written flawlessly, at least in my opinion. I love that the great big burly cowboy had a weakness and wasn’t afraid to admit it but when it mattered most, he stood strong. As for Missy, well she was a hot mess, not in a bad way but boy when she decided that she wanted Reece, there was nothing that would stand in her way and I’ve got to tell you, she was a bit of an instigator and I wasn’t expecting that at all.
This was another amazing addition to the West Series. I was really excited when I found out that the series wasn’t going to end after the three West sisters were all married off. I love Jill Sanders books because her books are about small town loves and sweet romances and those are right up there with my favorite types of books to read. Next up is Breaking Travis that by some little writing miracle is already out but the one that I can’t wait for is book six which will feature Reece’s twin brother Ryan. The release date for it is set for October 31st.
This was cute but not as much drama as the other books had, granted not every book can have all that drama but I wish we would have gotten more about his dad and the nightmares. I'm sure when his brother's book comes out we'll see more of him and maybe get more about it. On to the next ones
Book Four in the West Series, brings us face to face with Reece West, cousin to Lauren, Alex and Haley and what a handsome face it is!
Reece spent many of his most memorable days with his cousins in Fairfax at their ranch, anything was better than the suffering and abuse that both he and his bother Ryan endured at the hands of his drunken father while he was growing up.
And now years later, we learn that his father has now passed away, Ryan has moved on to god knows where and Reece is searching for somewhere to call home. Somewhere to belong and his happy memories of Fairfax have him tentatively considering hanging his hat in the town and placing his roots firmly in Fairfax.
Things take a turn for the better when following a slight mishap on the ranch, Reece ends up at the local doctors and he has to reconsider his decision to leave relationships out of the picture too because the pretty practise nurse has certainly caught his eye.
Melissa Holton is not backwards about coming forward and when one sexy assed cowboy ends up on her treatment table, her heart starts to beat a little faster.
How he feels is not the only opinion on the table now because when this feisty little nurse gets her head around the way Reece makes her feel, she makes it perfectly clear that she is ready to round up this particular cowboy all on her own!
I loved the fact that Reece has a phobia of blood – it made him a little vulnerable and “normal” not all alpha male! I adored the fact that Missy was independent and strong and together they were just delightful.
She had her head in the game and was prepared to do what it took to make her man happy.
I cannot wait to see how the situation with Reece’s brother Ryan turns out in book Six
The book was short and to the point, not to say the character development was missing because it wasn’t but I got a niggly feeling that I was missing out on the element of the build-up.
They seemed to cut to the chase fairly swiftly and from then the book practically hurtled towards its conclusion. I suppose I just missed more detail, I wanted more of their story and it all wrapped up a little too quickly for me.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked the writing style, I liked the straightforward love story, and I liked the characters. What I didn't like was the extraordinary number of typos and the fact that 90% of all conversations and events were directly about the romance.
I really liked the main characters. Our heroine, Missy, is a nurse and definitely not a shrinking violet. She is clear about what she wants and works to get it. Missy is very likable and capable and definitely someone I enjoyed following. Reece is also likable and I enjoyed that he was realistically physically damaged from riding broncos for a living. He's also a man with strong feelings.
The love story is pretty straightforward without lame plot mechanisms to cause tension. I don't want to give any spoilers, but think of the various plot mechanisms (such as the Terrible Secret) and throw them out the window. Missy's Moment is virtually free of such artificial situations. It was also free of any plot other than the romance, which always makes a book feel one dimensional to me.
JS's writing is very spare while containing quite a bit of detail about what the characters are doing and how. I like how she managed to get a lot of back story into the book without it feeling like an info dump. It didn't make me want to read the previous books, but at least I felt I was caught up. There is very little angst in this book, which for me is generally a good thing. For some reason, though, I felt that Missy's Moment felt a little flat. The professional writing style was a weird contrast with the large number of typos. The excerpt from the next book was particularly full of typos. Maybe that's why I had so much trouble finding the heart in this book.
All in all, not a bad read, but probably one not one I'll go back to.
All I can think of when I read this series is.... well, that escalated quickly. But of course in a totally good and awesome way!
Be warned, do not read this book if you are looking for huge character developement and a plot line that keeps you on the edge of your seats with twists and turns. DO read this book if you are looking for romance and pretty steamy love scenes that just keep on getting better.
This book really started out with a bang. WIthin the first couple of chapters Missy (Melissa) and Reece were already wanting to bang each other silly and you could already tell that Reece was in this for the long haul. It was a really cute quick read (only 15 chapters), that made me smile while reading it. I loved both of the characters, they didn't irritate me or make me want to slap them through the pages.
One thing though,
As soon as I finished it I had to hurry up and start reading the next book in the series, just because. I really enjoy this series and would definitely recommend it to a friend for some hot cowboy loving.
Love the introduction of the new characters and how they are related to the ones.....Melissa Holton is Grant's sister and Alex's sister-in-law and Reece West is the West girls' cousin who has a twin brother named Ryan whom Reece hadn't heard from in years since he left Reece behind and took off on his own.
Reece and Ryan lost their mother at a young age also and they had a rough time growing up with their abusive father but they stayed in contact with their cousins. Lauren and Chase gave Reece a job and a place to live when he came knocking on their door after he suffered some injuries
Melissa is finally back in Fairplay and is enjoying her nursing job at the clinic, Reece had a crush on Melissa "Missy" but never did anything about cause they were both unavailable at the time....now they won't be having such obstacles so Reece took the first step and went after what he wanted which is, Missy.
Both Reece and Missy decided that they wanted a real relationship, they got to know each other better......Reece had nightmares about the abuse he and his brother suffered at their father's hands. He was able to vanquish his demons thanks to Missy's love and support.
Missy even helped Reece with locating his brother Ryan....Reece and Missy never envisioned getting married or having a family until they met each and fell in love.
This was a great quick read. I loved the chemistry between Melissa (Missy) and Reece. Missy is a nurse at the clinic in Fairplay, Texas and she has to treat Reece when he comes in after having an accident. They have met a few times in the past since Missy is friends with his cousin and there was an attraction but neither one acted on it until now. Missy and Reece are really sweet together and I hope to see more of them in the next book Breaking Travis.
This is the fourth book in the series but it's the first one I read and it can definitely be read as a stand alone but I enjoyed it so much I am going to go back and read the ones that came before it.
***I received an advanced readers copy from the author in exchange for my honest review***
Complimentary copy provided by author for an honest review. Loved this short story it should have been longer!!
After a couple of years Missy returns home to work in the hometown clinic, but what she did not calculate on is that the man of her dreams is lying unconscious on her table. Reese the hot horse trainer who has more bones broke is his body has only one weakness blood!! When he sees blood flowing he goes down. But when he opens his eyes and meets the bluest eyes from Missy he can't stop thinking of her.
Even after all the times they met in the past neither one of them has acted on these strong feelings until now!!
Great love story I hope we get some more of them in Breaking Travis.
Such a sweet book! I enjoyed this book from the first to the last page. Missy is ready for a change and moves back to her hometown where she begins working at the local clinic. Reece is recovering from injuries he sustained while bustin' broncs and living on his cousins farm. When he get injured and has to go to the clinic, the sparks start to fly!! I love how Reece doesn't want people to think the worst of Missy for being with him so he tries to hide it, only that didn't work out so well. Missy and Reece together are so sweet and I love their HEA. I can't wait for the next book in the series, Breaking Travis as I'm sure it will be just as good as this one!
This is such a simple story of mutual attraction leading to love.... Reese has returned to his hometown after a career in bronco busting. He had a terrible childhood after his mom died and his dad became abusive. He came back home to start a business in horse training. He met up with one of his cousin's friends who is a nurse at a local clinic and their romance started from there. It is a sweet story of getting to know each other and finding that person who is perfect!
Loved this fourth in the West series, Jill Sanders has a way of drawing in the reader, writing believable characters, great backdrop, and situations that are captivating. The only issues, I read them too quickly, and there are only two left till the end. if you like cowboys, rodeo, country, strong guys, sweet girls with strength, and great writing, read this series.
This series just keeps improving. Jill is a genius with her story telling. This book was a lot different to the others so far.
This story focused on everyday dramas that make building a relationship difficult. Was a little more fast paced and predictable than the others, but still an amazing story
This was yet another sensational book by Jill Sanders!!!! It makes you feel as though you are a part of the story because you can relate to the feelings between the characters. Missy and Reece are great!!!!
Absolutely sweet story! Loved Reece West, he is a 100% cowboy, and extremely sweet, caring and hot. I also loved Melissa she was a little sassy, and strong and went for what she wanted. Really enjoying this series xx
I love this series, it just keeps getting better and better... Missy and Reese's story pulled at my heartstrings, he comes from a broken home and doesn't think he's good enough for Missy... Along the way she shows him what true love is as they create an unbreakable bond!!
There was nothing earth shattering about Missy's Moment, but I enjoyed the story for the most part. If you're looking for high drama or a book with a lot of plot, this isn't the book for you. If you're looking for a quick feel-good read with a lot of sex, you should give it a read.
The amount of typos in this book was surprising and incredibly frustrating, to be honest. There were times where pronouns were confused (he kissed him), names were confused (Haley instead of Missy), repeated sentences, and complete paragraphs that made no sense at all. Typos seem to happen in all e-books, but this one was riddled with them.
Beyond that, it was a decent story. I found myself squinting at Melissa's ridiculous “I don't date patients haha just kidding let's go out!” schtick at the clinic (her mind was changed because of his magical kiss, of course!), but I did enjoy watching the romance progress between the two. Reece was a sweet guy with a lot of good characteristics – I liked how vulnerable he was.
There is A LOT of sex in this book – and in all of Jill Sanders' books – and although I love a good sex scene, I found myself skimming them in this one because there were so many and I was more interested in the story than the soap opera sex. It felt like instead of being story-driven like the previous books, this one was sex-driven, even though the main characters had personal chemistry in spades.
This book would be great for a relaxing afternoon read, but it isn't one I'm apt to go back and re-read in it's current state.
Reece West has returned home to Fairplay to settle, at least for a while. He wants to find some land so that he can set up his own business, if he can find the right place, and the right land may have just come up for sale.
Melissa has also just returned home for a while, looking for a new job when she bumps into Dr Conner who ran the local clinic. He was looking for a head nurse since his previous one had retired a little while ago. She quickly accepts and decides to stick around town.
It's in the clinic where Melissa and Reece meet up. For Melissa it's instant attraction. Little does she know, it's the same for Reece! A lovely story of two people with very different upbringings in the same area, but both loving their home town and being drawn back there to make it home once again.
A few twists and turns, and of course Savannah's usual interference for entertainment 😁 and a happy ending.
The love story of Melissa (Missy) and Reece West. Reece and Melissa both have return to town. She as the head nurse in the town clinic. Reece want to own a ranch and broken horses. They have met at the wedding of two of the West's sisters. Now he has his dream will he find love too? Great story.
Another wonderful series by Jill ! I love the way Jill brings family and small towns together. I have read several other series by this same author and can't say enough good things. Beautifully written !
She's a nurse, he's a bronc rider. His brother disappeared years ago and he craves family. There's lots of sex, humor and romance. No danger in this one.Highly recommend.
