Monstrous

Rate this book
In the shadow of Mount Everest, a legendary creature is captured, setting off a chain of events that will shake the world. Transported across the United States, the creature’s arrival in Red Oak National Park disrupts the delicate balance of a wilderness harboring secrets far older than legend.

Ranger Colton Wade has spent years protecting what lurks within the park, but when a single blurry photo leaks online, it draws cryptozoologists, thrill-seekers, and opportunists—each chasing their own version of the truth. Among them is Kaci Monroe, a determined researcher seeking redemption and answers buried in the past.

As chaos erupts and unseen forces collide, Wade and Kaci must fight to protect the line between myth and reality. But in a battle where greed, survival, and nature’s fury collide, one question lingers—who are the real monsters?

A massive thank you to Ty Alexander for sending me such a beautiful copy of Monstrous—the cover alone is worth framing, but the story inside is even better. From the shadow of Mount Everest to the wild depths of Red Oak National Park (get me a Red Oak beer!), this novel delivers an electrifying blend of cryptid lore, environmental suspense, and human drama. Ranger Colton Wade and researcher Kaci Monroe make for compelling leads, each with their own baggage, secrets, and reasons to protect the line between myth and reality. Alexander masterfully balances tense action sequences with moments of eerie stillness, pulling you deeper into the mystery with every chapter. The twists hit hard, the atmosphere is thick with dread, and the creature at the center of it all is as fascinating as it is terrifying. Monstrous is a fast, cinematic read that begs to be devoured in one sitting. Highly recommended.
