Lady Ashley Sinclair is out for revenge. Her target is Thomas Dunbridge, the Earl of Lindsey. Only the unexpected happened and she fell in love. Now what does she do? A very intense plot with an Earl who never gives up on love. Descriptive sex. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.
So I have never read Sara Adrien although she is on my list to read. I love Tanya Wilde. This is actually my 18th book by her. I read one of her books in 2017, 5 in 2018 but didn't pick her up again until 2020. I really enjoy her books.
OMG I loved this book. I loved this couple, Ashley and Thomas and their circumstances. I loved their interactions and their chemistry. I just wanted to keep reading and reading. I loved their story. I loved this story. I think I melted when Thomas said, “Our start is our start”. Swoon!!! One of my FB groups will occasionally ask “who is your book boyfriend”? I never have an answer. Thomas is my book BF. What a guy! I totally added it to my favorite books read for May, 2025. I cannot wait for the other books in this series.
What a marvelous start to a new series! But of course, I did not expect anything less because it’s written by two fabulous authors, both great with character development and telling stories that captivate their readers. Here we have a bit of opposites attract with city girl, Lady Ashley Sinclair, out to get revenge against country boy, Thomas Dunbridge, the Earl of Linsey with a legacy of a thoroughbred horse stable that he foolishly wagered a bet against. Ashley believes that Thomas ran Jordan Critton, the man who had been courting her, out of town over a gambling debt so she seeks revenge by attempting to make Thomas fall in love with her so she can break his heart. Thomas has his own problem with the wager he made with the Duke of Paisley many years ago. It seems he wagered to hand over six of his thoroughbred horses to Paisley if he wasn’t married by the age of twenty-five and that birthday is fast approaching. It is the bold and revenge-seeking Ashley who sets the action in motion but Thomas is not slow on the uptake in following through and quickly within this whirlwind of a courtship these two find what they thought to be true wasn’t.
I loved the fact that Thomas always wanted a marriage of love for himself and disliked entering into a marriage of convenience because of his wager. This made the story unfold in a very delightful way as he tried to romance Ashley. He was such a sweetheart and a lovable character. Ashley had some growing to do but I loved her boldness and her bravery (or maybe it could be considered stupidity if things had gone worse) for jumping into a betrothal with the man she was seeking revenge against, getting on a horse after such a long period without refresher training, and especially her antics at the race. Again, it was usually Ashley in her boldness who initiated the kisses and more but it was delightful watching Thomas pull on the reins to slow the tempo only to have her ask and he was gone.
A well-written historical regency with an opposites attract theme involving two wonderfully developed characters, one seeking revenge and one needing to win a wager, one loving the city life and one at home in the country, but both finding love when they least expected it. Two great authors deliver a mildly steamy, very romantic love story that proves that sometimes what we think to be true, whether it be a person’s deeds or a person’s character, it may turn out to be totally different or something we embrace and love for it.
This was a roller coaster ride from start to finish! I have several books by both authors so intrigued enough to purchase this book! We have: Thomas, the irresistible Earl of Linsey and Lady Ashley Sinclair is the apple of her father’s eye and the blight in her Mother’s! There doesn’t seem to be a reason I could understand for her parents discord (utter loathing)! But it may have to do with her father’s secrets! I do love her relationship with her father so some of her actions are just strange! Ashley received a breakup letter from her beau blaming a wager with Thomas, the Earl of Linsey! Ashley immediately concocts this crazy plan of revenge! It totally backfires and a number of people lives not to mention Thomas legacy could be ruined! Thomas cares for his horses but he also has a legacy to uphold from generations before! There is a nemesis of course a slimy Duke with an equally sneaky reputation! Ashley and Thomas share several steamy interludes their chemistry is hot! But Ashley confesses feelings not her fault! She roped her friends especially Maddie who was glad to see no animals were injured in their shenanigans! Thomas is the true hero who loved and forgave far too many easily for me! The ending was confusing but they do get a HEA!
Dare to Tempt an Earl this Spring begins the Wedding Fever series with an unusual historical romance for Ashley and Thomas, as her need for revenge and his need to concentrate on his horses to outwit a rival will collide with unexpected results for them both.
It would be too easy to say far more than I intend about Dare to Tempt an Earl this Spring by Sara Adrien & Tanya Wilde. Revenge is forefront in Ashley’s mind, the need for marriage, and the fate of his horses are of importance to Thomas. When these two collide, there will be wild sparks, betrayals, and a love worth fighting for. I loved Ashley and Thomas both individually and as a couple. The mess they find themselves in, brought on by a sleazy rival, is captivating in its delivery and ending. Watching this couple grow and change their minds about each other was a wonderful journey.
If you love a well-written, steamy, emotional, revenge-driven historical romance, then Dare to Tempt an Earl this Spring by Sara Adrien & Tanya Wilde would be perfect for you. I’m looking forward to the next story.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley, and I sincerely thank the author or publishing house for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Whew two of my favorite authors together.. I should have known better than to read this book at bedtime because midnight turned into 3am and I finished the book..
Ashley is set on revenge on Thomas for ruining her happiness however Thomas melts down her defenses one by one by showing her he isn't the person she thinks he is, she finds out that just because he loves the country and his horses, doesn't mean he isn't without honor and understanding, and that he will let her be herself..
Thomas thinks she's outspoken at first and he thinks that they may have only a marriage of convenience because they have nothing in common however once he gets to know her, he discovers that despite her outspoken behavior is someone he can't stop thinking about her, and he can talk to her about anything and feel at ease..
These two characters were meant for each other and you can't help but feel the connection flow between them.. i honestly can't say enough about the connection that I felt floating through the pages of this book..
I can't wait to read the next book in this series..
I can't wait to see what Sara and Tanya both have in store next.
This sizzling Regency romance is a delightful cocktail of wit, tension, and irresistible chemistry. It delivers everything fans of enemies-to-lovers crave: clever banter, scandalous secrets, and a slow-burn romance that builds to a fever pitch.
Lady Ashley is a bold, intelligent heroine you can't help but root for—even as she plots to steal the Earl's prized horses in the name of revenge. Thomas, the charming yet duty-bound Earl of Linsey, is her perfect match in every way, even if neither of them wants to admit it. Their sparring is sharp, their chemistry undeniable, and watching their emotional walls crumble is a true joy.
Beneath the glitter of ballrooms and the thrill of deception lies a deeply emotional story of trust, redemption, and taking chances on love. This series starter is fun, fiery, and packed with heart.
If you love your Regency romance with a touch of scandal, a dash of horse-racing intrigue, and a whole lot of swoon, you won't want to miss this.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
A lady bent on revenge and a lord whose life revolves around horses... what chance for such a couple? Well, just you wait and read! Lady Ashley is no weak wallflower, as the chapters pass you discover she's a dark horse...so apropos with Thomas's love of horses. As for Thomas, he's a charmer but must marry or risk losing his prize horses. For both their lives evolve into ones they never expected as their proximity ignites into passion. It's a story of misconception, twists and turns, A threatening no good Duke, secrets, unexpected surprises, clever repartee and wit. This is a great book for a new series by two authors who know how to write historical romance that keeps you reading not wanting to stop. I highly recommend, well done ladies can't wait for book #2.
Revenge Is Sweet, But Love Is Much Sweeter The Earl of Linsey once ran Ashley’s suitor out of town, and now she’s determined to get even. Her plan? Pretend an engagement with Thomas, win his heart, and then shatter it. But Thomas isn’t at all the man she expected, and before long, he steals her heart instead. Thomas has his own stakes—if he doesn’t marry before his 25th birthday, he’ll lose his beloved horses. So, when Ashley proposes, he agrees, unaware of her hidden motives. As sparks fly and secrets unravel, their lives intertwine in ways neither could have foreseen. A villain lurks in the shadows, betrayal looms, and Ashley’s duplicity threatens the fragile bond between them. Can love survive when it begins with deception? This is an entertaining Regency tale filled with wit, passion, and the sweet surprise of love where it’s least expected.
These are two authors that I enjoy so when I saw they were collaborating, it was an immediate pre-order. So I loved Thomas, I love a jealous, kind, slightly submissive man. When he took the lead its cause she said so... I ate that up. Ashley, she stood on her business, I have learned do not cross her! She was gonna teach him a lesson where it hurt, savage (I loved it). The ending kind of flew together which made it a little messy (the horse race for example) But she had a friend group and they were supportive. I can't wait to read the next one cause it includes characters from Sara's other series and that's gonna be fun!
Dare to Tempt an Earl This Spring is the first novel in the Wedding Fever series. The book felt longer than it needed to be. Around the middle, the plot dragged and felt stretched out, which made it harder to stay interested. Some parts could have been tighter to keep the momentum going.
I didn’t really connect with Lady Ashley or Thomas. Their personalities didn’t grab me, and their relationship didn’t feel very natural or believable. That made it tough to get fully invested in their story.
All in all it's an OK and quick read and an OK Historical Romance.
Thanks to Netgalley and Dragonblade Publishing for this review copy. My opinions are my own
A plot driven by revenge and subterfuge, Lady Ashley takes her revenge on the Earl of Linsey, little realizing that they have both been played. That Ashley formed a plan to destroy Thomas is bad enough, but to discover that she has targeted a man whose passion has led to the jealousy of the unscrupulous brings her to her knees. Fortunately, they do have a champion. I cannot say that I actually enjoyed this book, but I was glad that it came to a good conclusion. I received a copy of this romance as a gift, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Thomas, an earl, is in want of a wife, so he doesn't loose a bet to his duke "friend." He thinks he spies her across the ballroom as the clock ticks down to his twenty fifth birthday. If he fails to wed, he looses his best six horses to the duke.
Ashley, two weeks ago, was set on wedding Jordan, a third son of a baron, Except, from his terse letter to her, she gleans that he was run out town due to a bet with Thomas. So, she hates him. As Jordan has sailed away and she is unwed.
Horses, way too many bets and a tangle of wits. Recommend.
Writing style: 3.75-4, would try another of her books
Plot: 0. MFC is spoilt and f*cking idiot and 1D. MMC is sweet but also 1D. And also, the random half bro that comes out of no where!?!??!? He was a random last minute add to “tie up” loose ends. Just terrible plot. Hopefully, If I give this Author another shot, let’s hope for a feasible plot.
Language: 3. Historically appropriate. No modern words or phrases.
Spice: 2/5 (oral sex, missionary, pseudo 69) after 60% of book
Ashley holds a grudge against Thomas. When she hears he is in town for a wife, she plans to make him fall in love with her and then she will walk away from him. Thomas is intrigued by Ashley and, since he has to marry before his upcoming birthday, he asks her to marry him. What they don't plan on is falling in love. I felt this story was much longer than it needed to be. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Dragonblade Publishing for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This was entertains and I liked that there was a bit of a twist, though it could have been explored more. Loved that the hero was a horse boy and a virgin. There were a few inconsistencies that were a little annoying.
Eh. It was fine. There is a part at the end that was totally outlandish and made no sense. If anything about this book stays with me, it will definitely be that scene. But to each their own I guess.
I loved this book. Ashley and Thomas. What started out as revenge turns into much much more. I loved the plot and twists and turns. Just a good sweet story.
A wonderful start to this new series based around the four seasons. A descriptive story and a romance full of witty banter and undeniable passion. There's attraction from the start for Ashley and Thomas but they are a little baffled by each other because Ashley wants revenge and Thomas isn't quite sure about her. It's a wager for love where getting to know each other brings about a most unexpected happily ever after. I enjoyed the setting and introduction of characters in London and the developing love story in the countryside.
Dare to Tempt an Earl This Spring by Sara Adrien & Tanya Wilde is a deliciously scandalous romp through revenge, romance, and horse thievery, with a heroine who doesn’t just break the rules, she reinvents them. Lady Ashley Sinclair isn’t nursing her heartbreak quietly. She’s plotting payback, and her weapon of choice? Stealing the Earl of Linsey’s beloved thoroughbreds. But as she infiltrates his world, she discovers that Thomas isn’t just a target, he’s a temptation wrapped in secrets and smoldering charm.
Thomas, the Earl in question, is juggling a high-stakes wager that could cost him everything if he doesn’t marry by his 25th birthday. He’s focused on his horses, not his heart, until Ashley storms in with sass, schemes, and a plan that’s one stolen stallion away from chaos. Their banter crackles, their chemistry simmers, and their slow-burn romance is the kind that makes you want to fan yourself with a lace glove.
Adrien and Wilde deliver all the historical romance essentials: sharp dialogue, emotional depth, and a hero who’s equal parts honorable and maddening. Sure, the pacing dips in spots, like a carriage wheel stuck in a scandalous subplot, but the payoff is worth the ride. If you’re into enemies-to-lovers with a side of horse thievery and a heroine who doesn’t play nice, saddle up. Book 2 can’t come fast enough.
