Big Temptation

Rate this book
She’s not supposed to stay. I’m not supposed to care. But now I can’t imagine Big Wood without her.

Delaney

This gig was supposed to be a three-month detour, not a detour of the heart. I came to Big Wood to run the summer program, earn some credibility, and keep my career on track—not to fall for the gruff single dad with the world’s most complicated walls. But Jace Ramsey sees more than I want him to, and every time I try to pull away, his kids pull me deeper in. I should keep my distance. I should protect my heart. But something about this town—and this man—feels like home.

Jace
I’ve got two kids, a full-time job managing the Big Wood Visitor Center, and zero interest in letting anyone else get close—not after the way my ex walked out. But then Delaney Hart shows up, all sunshine and stubbornness, flipping my routine upside down and somehow getting my daughter to smile more than I’ve seen in years. I tell myself it’s just temporary. She’s just temporary. So why does the thought of her leaving feel like the one thing I can’t handle?

These four single dads thought they were done with love. But love… isn’t done with them. They’ve been burned—by divorce, betrayal, heartbreak—and now their lives revolve around playdates, carpools, and bedtime stories. Love? Not happening. Not again. When unexpected women storm into their carefully controlled worlds—bringing sass, chaos, and the kind of heat they thought they’d locked away for good—these devoted fathers face a new kind of falling for the one person they shouldn’t.

Big Temptation is Book 1 of the Single Dads of Big Wood series. It's a short and steamy, slow-burn, grumpy-sunshine, girl gets her hunky single dad office romance. Delaney is filling in for another injured ranger at a summer camp. Jace is her hunky, grumpy boss. He is dad to 10-year-old fraternal twins and jaded on love after their mom walked out 8 years ago. He's also one of Mama Mae's boys! These two clash until they don't. I loved how she connected with the twins. I wanted to smack Jace upside the head a few times but he finally got it together. As usual, we had hot hot chemistry and a happy ending after some angst. I can't wait to read the other books in the series. I loved it!!.

I am always a sucker for one of Mama Mae’s boys. Eve London provides a fun, quick, sweet slowburn to spark filled romance but within it she gives meaningful bits of life “advice” that makes her stories full of depth and emotion. I loved watching Delaney break down Jace’s hard earned walls and help him see a new path. The twins were adorable, Mama Mae’s wisdom was spot on, and the “bridge” to new happiness was a perfect touch. There is an epilogue of HEA by sign up which was perfect. Lovely read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I hate abrupt endings!

I'll say it over and over again, I hate abrupt book ending. I would have love d to see them back in Tennessee. The outcome of the grandparents visit. Anything other than the questions that I had remaining.

OMG!!! WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.

Jace and. Delaney met when she comes to Big Wood, Tennessee for a job. Jace is a single dad to twins Eli and Wren and the district park ranger for Big Wood. Delaney comes from New York where she was hoping to get a job with the state park. Delaney is taking over for a park ranger who was injured, she is in charge of the summer camp program. Delaney arrives a few days early to make sure everything is in order. Delaney arrives at the visitor center and introduces herself, then is introduced to Jace. While Delaney wonders around she can see the place needs a good cleaning and to be updated. When Delaney tells Jace she wants to organize and planning for camp, he tells her the previous park ranger ran a tight ship. Jace shows her to her room, then tells Delaney he needs to pick up his kids. Jace picks up Eli and Wren and asks them how their day was. Jace notices his daughter is pulling away from him and distancing herself. The twins ask Jace if they're getting a new park ranger to run the summer camp program. When Jace gets home Wren goes to her bedroom while Eli goes for a snack. The guys show up for poker night it's Jace's turn to host. The guys asks Jace about the new park rangers but he doesn't want to give anything away about her. Delaney gets busy cleaning the park office, camp starts on Monday and by the looks of things she has her work cut out for her. Jace asks Delaney if she got settled, and if she needs anything. Camp has been in session for a week before Jace is able to stop by and check things out. Jace knows this week is suppose to be about the rules of camp and basic first aid. When he sees the kids in a circle and Delaney talking about ecosystem Jace asks some questions of the students. When Jace is satisfied with the answers he lets Delaney get back to teaching. Jace stays for a while and is impressed in what Delaney is teaching the kids. When Delaney breaks for lunch Jace holds back watching Wren draw on her sketchpad. Jace's heart breaks when he notices his daughter flourish under Delaney attention. Delaney finds out that Jace is taking his kids to Texas at the end of the summer. Delaney heads to the smokehouse for dinner wanting takeout. Jace and the twins walk Delaney to her car, on the way home Wren and Eli question Jace about if he likes her. Two weeks later, Jace is dropping the twins off when Delaney tells him Wren just wants to be seen. Delaney suggests to Jace that he asks her to see her art. Delaney is taking over an assignment for Park Ranger Rhonda as the ranger was injured and couldn’t do the summer camp in her condition. So for the summer (3 months), Delaney will be stationed in Big Wood, Tennessee. Her boss is District Park Ranger Ramsey, who is a grump of a man and the father of fraternal twins, Eli & Wren. Eli is Jace Ramsey’s mini-me, while Wren likes to draw. At ten, the twins are in the last year that Jace will make them attend summer camp. Jace doesn’t know how to connect to his daughter and seeing that Delaney does almost immediately, drives him a bit crazy, at first. Brutus is their dog and he is huge. Walker, Tucker & Brody are the three men that take turns hosting poker night and their kids all attend and watch tv while the guys are playing. I found Delaney’s idea on nature journaling to be fascinating. Plus, I loved everything she talked about in camp. I remember camping when I was little until my brother was born. Once I started to get older, the idea of being in a tent, and fishing, when I didn’t eat it, or all of the bugs, just bothered me and I told my dad that I would rather sit in the boat when he and his friends would go crabbing.

The twins’ mom, Michelle, left when they were two, as she didn’t really like the area and she and Jace just weren’t meant to be. That is what is bothering Jace, because her parents want to meet the kids and get to know them. I love that Jace is one of the kids that Mama Mae fostered and that the kids are her grandkids. I was miffed at Jace for most of the end of the book until he did the right thing. I’m glad that he did. How he acts with Delaney was sweet, romantic and steamy until he got stupid. lol. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series that the different authors are playing in for the series.

We are in for a new series from Eve with Single Dad's of Big Wood.

Jace makes a regular grump feel like rainbow brite compared to his stern outlook. He is the Park Ranger who runs with seriousness and responsibility. The only light you see from his are his twins, Wren and Eli. He had to hire a replacement for the summer camp at the other ranger broke a leg. He had no idea what he was in for with Delaney.

Delaney might be a tad young, her enthusiasm and gusto for wanting to make the summer camp program just bounces off the walls. She wants to make her first big job a success, but Jace isn't exactly welcoming of changes. She can work with little, and make a big impact.

I love that Jace can't help but see the way Delaney brings both of his kids out their shell a bit, and help his daughter out of her shell. I love the tense interactions between these two, and the way she can just make him laugh from being around her. He gets a sunshine and lightness vibe from Delaney he can't seem to turn away from.

Delaney can't help but fall for Jace. He's tall, broody and grumpy, but she sees the man underneath. The dad who loves his kids and takes his relationships with his friends seriously. She doesn't expect to be tempted with a job that she thought was everything she wanted.

Their love story isn't without some heartache. It takes a big kick in the pants from Jace's foster mom, mama mae (who we get glimpses of in other stories and is an Amazing character!!), to go after Delaney. Jace and the kids are miserable without her and are ready to stake their claim.

You are in for a good, full laughter, spice steam, and loving story that makes the magic Eve writes just worth the read and re-read!

He wanted control. She made him want everything.

Delaney (h) came to Big Wood to run a summer camp and leave at the end of summer. Jace was the rule-heavy, emotionally locked down park ranger in her way. But her big ideas and bold heart crash into his carefully managed life, and neither one walks away untouched.

Jace is a man holding everything together for his kids, Eli and Wren, and doing it with quiet strength. Delaney is chaos, joy, and a kind of honesty he hasn’t let himself near in years. She sees what Wren needs. She hears what he never says out loud. And he can’t stop watching her bring their camp to life, even as it unravels his walls. ‍‍

One storm changes everything. One night makes it impossible to pretend this is temporary. But when she’s offered the future she thought she wanted hundreds of miles away, the fragile balance between them shatters. He tells her to go. She walks away with her heart broken wide open.

Love comes down to one final choice. Stay safe or reach out. Protect what’s already here or risk everything for what could be.

Delaney grows from a determined but uncertain newcomer into someone who finds confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging far from the life she planned. Jace moves from emotionally closed off and rigid to someone willing to take risks and open himself up to love again. Their relationship shifts from guarded tension to deep trust, shaped by mutual respect and a growing bond with the kids that turns something temporary into something lasting.

Sweet and steamy, single dad, curvy girl, age gap, grumpy sunshine, small town romance, exploring love, found family, emotional vulnerability, second chances, trust, personal growth, family, community, fear of change, and career versus relationships.

"... The biscuits are hot, and I've got a bucket full of love just waitin' on y'all!"

Big Temptation by Eve London is part of the multi-author Single Dads of Big Wood series. This age-gap, single dad, work place, romance is about Delaney Hart and Jace Ramsey. She has graduated college and has found herself in Big Wood, Tennessee for the summer after accepting an assignment to take over running the small summer camp when Park Ranger Rhonda shattered her ankle. Jace is the head Park Ranger of the Tennessee Division of Forestry in the area. He grew up as one of Mama Mae's boys in Texas. But after going to college and finding his girlfriend pregnant he moved them to Big Wood, Tennessee. They had twins, Eli and Wren, who are eleven years old now. When the kids were two she split town and left Jace with the kids. Now they have a routine that is about to be upended in the best way but this grumpy ranger is going to have a hard time accepting the new way. Delaney is a force that comes on sweet and subtle but will blow you over in the end. This is exactly what she does for the kids, the summer camp program, and in the end Jace and the community. But you know there will be some drama along the way and that is experienced on a couple levels in the story.
I loved this book and story. It is well written, nicely plotted, keeps your interest, and you end up loving the characters. Plus the sizzle is a storm waiting to detonate.

**Summer Camp**

*Big Temptation* is the first book in the engaging *Single Dads of Big Wood* series. Meet Park Ranger Delaney, who is thrilled to take on the role of the temporary summer camp ranger in the charming town of Big Wood, TN. With it being her first time, she can't wait to dive in, connect with the kids, and show them all the fun things they can do! But she wasn’t quite prepared to meet her handsome, grumpy boss, Ramsey.

Ramsey is a wonderful single dad to 10-year-old fraternal twins, Wren and Eli. While he's trying his best to connect with Wren, Eli is a little copy of him—full of energy and mischief! Delaney and Ramsey share an undeniable chemistry, but both are a bit hesitant to open their hearts, fearing they might get hurt. Their worries almost jeopardize the special bond they’re starting to build.

This sweet instalove story is a fantastic kickoff to the series, featuring characters that you’ll absolutely adore, along with delightful side characters who enrich the world around them. The story moves at a nice, brisk pace, making it a breeze to read in one sitting. It’s filled with themes of family, support, and a sprinkle of drama, plus some steamy moments that add to the fun! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book in the series!

This is part of a multi-author collaboration about four single dads that have been burned by women and love. They think they are done with love and raise their children. That is until the right women "storms" into their lives wrecking them and their control. I love all four of these stories! Each one features one of the single dads and the lady that completes them. "Big Temptation" starts off the stories followed by Big Risks" by Kaci Rose, "Big Trouble' by Kat Baxter and then "Big Obsession" by Hope Ford. Each of the "Single Dads of Big Wood" stories can be read as stand alone stories but they are more fun read in order, as each man falls. This is a fairly short and quick read about Jace and Delaney. Jace, the district Ranger in Big Woods, is a single dad to ten year old twins, Wren and Eli. He is gruff, disciplined, strict and set to his routine. After Ranger Rhonda was injured, Delaney has just joined his team for the summer as her replacement. Rhonda has run the program for many years and has a set program that he does not want to change. Delaney upsets the apple cart from the get go. This is such a good story with some very entertaining bits, witty banter, cuteness, sweet and stormy bits. I especially love the kids, which adds some fun.

A Love Worth Fighting for -
Delaney was happy when she was offered the job covering for the injured ranger, but meeting her grumpy boss who was set in his ways, gave her pause for thought. Jace had given up on relationships since his ex left hie, but meeting Delaney had something stirring inside him. The initial working relationship between Jace and Delaney was awkward, but everything changed as they spent more time together, which led to them embarking on a sexual relationship.

Unfortunately, Jace and Delaney stubbornness nearly cost them their happiness, as neither one of the was preparing to compromise their situation for their happiness. Luckily, time apart and a kick up the backside convinced Jace to go after Delaney and convince her to give them a chance at forever. This is a fresh, fun-filled romance story about two strong willed people, that captured my attention from the beginning and held it all the way through to the end. Congratulations Eve London on adding another fantastic romance book to your portfolio.

What a delightful beginning to this series with such heartwarming characters! Park Ranger Delaney Hart is on her way to the Big Wood Vacation Camp in Tennessee. She is to fill in for an injured ranger as she awaits her next assignment. She is eager and looking forward to incorporating some of her lessons for the children attending the camp. Well, she was until she met District Ranger Jace Ramsey, who is in charge of the camp. He would prefer she follow the lessons already provided, but…she has plans of her own. She finds herself attracted to the stern Jace and his obvious love for his two children, Wren and Eli. While lately he is having difficulty bonding with Wren, Delaney forms an immediate connection with her. It seems his children have found a friend in Delaney as she slowly becomes more involved in their family life. He realizes that all of the children are enjoying the variety of lessons that she has created. As he finds himself more attracted to her than he wants to be, will a washed-out bridge be the answer to their chance at forever, together? Can it maybe repair itself with work?.

Book one of a series of Interconnected standalones, by multiple authors.

Eve brings us the first book of the Single Dad's of Big Wood following Jayce and Delaney.
Hired for a summer camp job, Delaney wants to prove her worth to get hired full time. And while this isn't her dream job, she's prepared to put in the work even if she's heard the District Ranger is a bit of a grump.
Jayce is a single dad of twin ten year olds, he has no time to have fun between a full time job and full time parental responsibilities his only down time is a weekly poker night with his fellow single dads. If only Delaney wasn't his dream woman.

Can they make a go of it despite the age difference, or will a call from Delaneys dream job pull them apart?

Good read 4 stars, no cheating between the the main characters and HEAs.

"Love. Not happening. Not again."

Jace is not only running from love, he is deathly afraid of it, especially when one cute, funny, fearless, quirky ball of energy enters to be a Ranger for the summer, turning his entire world upside down. Not only is she perfect for him, but she is perfect for his kids too! Eeeek! He cannot run fast enough to escape her and without trying she owns his heart.
He has been letting his past steal his future, is he going to stay grumpy, alone and struggling to relate to his kids, or is he brave enough to bury the past and embrace the future?
I have to say Wren and Eli are my favourite characters, but Delaney and Jace are close behind.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

LOVED IT! What a great story of friendship and family. This grumpy-sunshine, single dad, workplace romance was a very enjoyable read. I love the wonderfully written characters, and the work related and emotional connections of Delaney and Jace. Their chemistry with one another also sparked some spicey encounters. Jace’s children are such an added benefit to the story making it even more enjoyable and believable. I also LOVE how this story is connected to this author’s previous character of Mama Mae. This story has heart, great world building, wonderful characters, and humor too. Big Temptation is Book 1 of the new series, Single Dads of Big Wood & is worth the read.

Big Temptation is grumpy-sunshine goodness with a splash of sass and a whole lot of sweet! Delaney and Jace are a perfect match—she brings his daughter out of her shell and makes amazing strides with his attitude while also meeting his son where he is at. Jace is so endearing with his beautiful heart that he socked away after his twins’ mom bailed on them. Watching Delaney navigate his emotions while respecting his boundaries is quite delightful. And the hog call? Well that was the funniest scene in the book! I adored this love-struck novella from start to finish and can’t wait for the others in this series!!!

🌲 “She came for the job. She stayed for the dad.”

Delaney thought she was just passing through Big Wood—a summer gig to boost her résumé, nothing more. But she didn’t expect a grumpy single dad with two adorable kids and enough emotional baggage to check into a lifetime of therapy. Jace is broody, protective, and frustratingly irresistible… and his kids? They’re impossible not to love.

Jace has one mission: raise his kids and avoid heartache. He doesn’t need someone coming in with bright eyes, bold ideas, and a laugh that feels like sunshine after a storm. Delaney was never meant to stay—but now he’s wondering how he’ll ever let her go.

For such a short story, the character development on Jace was beautifully written. He was to quintessential grumpy to Delaney’s sunshine, but he really grew emotionally as a man and a father. Single father who was closed off from love and emotions in general, he felt like he couldn’t get close with his daughter anymore like he could with his son. I loved how this story was all about them as people, with 1 steamy scene to cement those feelings. I also really liked how the kids played a big role, and how Delaney was with the kids is what made Jace fall in love with her. Great start to a new series! No cheating or OM/OW drama, condom use, dual POV, single father to twins, HEA and a bonus epilogue in the future that ties it all up. Looking forward to reading the others in the series!

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Delany and Jace. Jace is a single father to a boy and girl and is a park ranger. When Delany is hired to run the summer camp, his kids are reluctant to attend at first, but soon they are loving Delany and the camp. Jace tries to keep his distance from Delany, he doesn't want a relationship after his ex walked out on him. Delany and Jace have an attraction to each other and Jace thinks it should be fine because she is leaving after the camp is over. I liked this story, I thought Delany was great with the kids and Jace noticed. Jace and Delany were good together, and i think both wanted more, but didn't know how to tell the other. Another good one.

Grumpy and Sunshine mix well!

Single dad Jace, sees trouble coming from a mile away when he meets his new employee, Delaney. She”s going to mess with his simple, impenetrable life with his twins and he wants no part of it. Too bad.

I love single dad romances! You get to fall in love with the couple, the kids, and the inevitable cracking of the shield protecting his war-torn heart. Yum!

Delaney is relentless in her sunshiny ways, not in pursuit of Jace, just in being herself and her desire to find a path to happiness. Jace is helpless to the onslaught, falling for Delaney in so many lovely ways.

This was a heartfelt, $exy story and I just went and borrowed the other three books in the series to avoid any gap in reading one after the other.

This short story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a sweet and steamy, single dad/summer camp coordinator, contemporary romance. I enjoyed Jace, the male lead’s, grumpy competence and his uncertainty around how to handle his daughter, as well as his dismay at his unexpected feelings for Delaney, the female lead. I enjoyed Delaney’s determination to make a real mark on summer camp, to personalise it, and the enthusiasm she brought to her interactions. I enjoyed the relationship Delaney built with Jace’s children. I enjoyed the steamy intimate moments.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Delaney arrives at Big Wood to fill in for an injured ranger. Three months and then on to the next big thing. She's been warned about the district ranger being grumpy...and certainly sees what they meant.
Jace is the district ranger and single father of 10 year old twins. He is worried about his daughter, Wren, who seems to be drifting away from him. The last thing he needs (so he thinks) is the young woman sent to run the summer camp who seems to be changing things, both professionally and personally.
Lovely story about a heartbroken man and a woman who never quite felt seen.

Delaney is on a temp job and meets gruff, single dad Jace. Of course we can guess what is going to happen, but wow what an amazing story! Both took some time to come together, but when they did, wow what a ride! Meanwhile there are plenty of laughs, throw in 2 tween twins, and also there was so much chemistry between the characters. Kudos to the author for creating such likeable characters and a lovely story.

I'm a huge fan of the author's and I love so many of the books she writes. You gotta read this!.

Big Temptation by Eve London is book 1 in the Single Dads in Big Wood series by various authors 4.5 stars

Delaney is hired as a replacement for the summer camp program in Big Wood and after the summer is over will go back home to look for a for a permanent position. What she doesn’t expect is her attraction to the district ranger, Jace, a single father of twins and finding the place to be more than she ever expected. What happens next is a quick read, insta love, steamy, falling for the twins, making friends and hopefully a HEA Delaney and Jace never saw coming…

I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A short and cute story set in Big Wood where single dad to twins Jace Ramsey works as a park ranger, he’s a grump of a man, hurt in the past by the twins mother who abandoned them years ago. He has closed his heart to any sort of happiness but meeting Delaney the stand in helper at the camp for the summer has him changing his mind and the possibility of having some happiness. A well written book that has us following them to hopefully a hea. With great MCS, adorable twins and a quick introduction to Jaces poker friends. Jace is one of Mama Maes foster kids and she gets a little cameo wohoo. Look forward to the next single dad.

This was a fun series opener that brings together Delaney and Jace. She's got a temp job running the summer camp and is so ready to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the kids. Jace is a ranger with twins. He's on the grumpy side...and doesn't like change too much. Lol! These two definitely start off on the opposite sides of the fence but the more time they spend together, the more feelings bloom. However, these two are both stubborn and almost lost out on a fab HEA. Thankfully, it didn't come to that and they get their happy ending ;D I enjoyed the humour, drama, danger, cute kids and spicy romance and am looking forward to reading the next book :D

Delaney & Jace

The grumpy single dad (of a set of very cute twins) park ranger meets his match in the sunshiney new camp leader there just for the summer.

This was a short novella, but still managed to have a full plot and make the insta love element flow naturally together. Delaney just wanted to find her place in the world, though she wasn’t expecting it to be in a tiny town in Tennessee. Jace’s history with his ex left him jaded and he let it seep into their relationship but that was quickly fixed and they got their HEA.

Overall I really enjoyed this read, and it was exactly the pickmeup I needed.
