Rate this book
Welcome to North Five University the safest place to be yourself.

For Darci Levine things couldn’t possibly be going better to plan. Getting accepted into a prestigious college to follow her dreams of becoming a radio disc jockey is all she’s ever wanted. Add that to her podcast that’s growing in fame, now it’s just the sweet foam on the Brewing Murder Podcast latte. When it catches the ear of a detective in Pack Coffey, she gets pulled into a case and must decide if solving murders is worth her own life.

This book is a part of an RH Omegaverse world created between two authors. Each book contains scenes best for an audience above the ages of 18. All books are standalones, and don't necessarily have to be read in order.

Second most abrupt ending goes to.... Same author, same series

154 page book and the ending took less than 5 pages. Identify the antagonist, have the traumatic arc, boom we done, here's four lines telling you the HEA probably happened. 5 pages to catch, unpack, understand and resolve a killer, and address the trauma response afterward. Someone needs to help this author flesh out details better, especially for the ending of her books. So much potential wasted by deciding its, what? Boring to write a decent ending? All three of Slavens' books in this series have this same issue too.

Let's talk about the series as a whole
1) each book in this series (both authors no less) feels like a world of its own within the NFU world they have created. There is one more book to come but I don't have high hopes for it making the series seem cohesive. The societal rules change from book to book; slightly, sometimes inconspicuously and sometimes obviously but the consistency is just consistently off. Pack Coffey specifically makes it glaringly absurd because a serial killer in a college town would be highly notable by the other students. These books all have hints of overlapping timelines but no one in the other books are at all concerned for safety with the killer on the loose?
2) each book has poor editing. Pack Coffey is actually the best of the lot but later in the book errors started cropping up more glaringly. It makes for a less enjoyable reading
3) out of five books averaging around 5-6 main characters, each with multiple parental figures, there are approximately 3 (*maybe* 4) decent parents. Those are some grim odds. It's just a bit too antsy at this point. Someone can have an ok home life and still be an interesting character.
4) each book feels just a bit incomplete. Slavens' especially but the other author has some weak books as well. These books got pushed out very quickly and the quality is lacking, probably due to the rush.

There are some positive bits and pieces. I actually love Darci; she is an amazing FMC and stays consistent through the entire book. I lean towards loving all of the MMCs in pack Coffey as well but the number of pages vs number of MMCs leaves us with a surface level knowledge that could only be resolved with longer books. The base storyline for Pack Coffey has really good bones and was chugging along REALLY well until page 145 when it all slammed into 5 pages of a maniacal info dumped ending.

Listen.... If you need something to read and have access to this series, read pack Coffey before you decide to cut your own bangs or anything but just know there are better omegaverse options out there so don't let this series turn you off the genre.

Why is the ending so abrupt?

This story had so much potential! However, it felt like the author was telling the story in one breath and was running out so she rushed the end to get it out. The story could do with at least a couple more chapters, as well as some grammar checking and proofreading. I understand if you are writing under a deadline (if that is even the case here), but why say you can do something in a certain timeframe, if you know your going to rush to finish? This seems to be a theme with Ms. Slaven. I'm glad this is the last of her books in this series. Pack Coffey and Darci deserved better than that ending.

its the same situation that i have found with this author with the first, third and now this book of her cowritten series. This book had an interesting story but it really makes me think that all her books have the same problems:
-THE STORY IS ALWAYS RUSHED, WHY???? in just few pages describes the ending.
-a protagonist with a generic personality
- male leads with the same personality so its difficult to differentiate them
- a rushed ending that feels incomplete
- general descriptions that makenthe story generic.

i will finish the last book of this series because of the other author but i think i will not read any other books of this author.

This was an enjoyable Omegaverse book. It was short and steamy, but well-written and had great characters.

Darci was an interesting character. She was neither over the top about being an omega, nor did she try to hide her omega status. She simply was an omega that tried to peacefully live without changing who she was. I liked her a lot. Pack Coffey was also full of great characters, though I think Lawrence was my favorite. I always love a good Omegaverse book that has an awesome beta. This was a good short Omegaverse book.

You forgot to add the Omegaverse to your book.

The story had a lot of promise but it was really lacking the Omegaverse elements that make it OV. She only bonds 1 out of 5, the heat is 1 paragraph long… 1 paragraph. This could’ve been a 5 star read, but it’s rushed and ends abruptly. Though this one does have more closure than her last two in this series. She just forgot to add any of the OV to it.

quick and sweet

I would've given it 5 stars if there was about 100 pages more. I liked the characters, but i wish we got to see the relationships develop a little deeper and just overall wish there was more information about her brother, the killer, maybe family dynamics, definitely more on the pack. It was all pretty surface level but an overall enjoyable read.

Worth the wait!!

Loved the story about Darci and her men. Loved their chemistry too. I just wish the ending was extended and we got a heat scene with all of them. Still giving it 5 stars.

This was an incredibly quick read. If you love a pack who pretty quickly falls for the fmc then this is a good choice.

Darci is excited to land a dream internship, she meets some amazing guys but of course has some of her own dark past she struggles with. Fortunately, the pack of men are amazing (as always!)

There's a bad guy lurking out there so it's not ALL sweet but the men are swoony and supportive.

I absolutely love this series of books, and hope there are more. These books make me happy and that's what's important to me. I like that each book is a standalone book. I feel bad for Darci and dealing with her family. Her mom needs to be in the hospital with Dylan.

Really Good

Darci’s book went darker than the other’s in this series I feel. It was a great quick read.

Darci and Pack Coffey were so sweet even with the darkness surrounding the story. I loved them all together.

Finishes too quick

I liked the premise of this book but the ending was too rushed and too short. Could have done with more chapters on the bonding as well. Not my favourite North U book.

Pack Coffey: NFU

I felt that this book in the series was rushed in many aspects, it was good overall but felt like it was lacking details that would draw in more readers. The story is good and I enjoyed the plot.

This book was crazy. I had a feeling on who the killer was but I was way off about why. I also thought her dark secret would be something else. This was a cute quick read.
