When I tell you I wanted to PUNCH Demyan into the face every time he opened his MOUTH at the very beginning, it’s not a lie.

How dare he take her child from her? And not listening I get the „he’s so upset because he missed his sons life“ like FUCK OFF taking that child’s mother away from him, and not having a clue how to take care of him is way worse.
Also all the book he not LISTENED ONCE WHY ERIN DID WHAT SHE DID he just cared about HIMSELF about HIS feelings.

I totally can understand why Erin took Sasha from him, firstly he left her with NO WAY of contacting him, not a Name or anything. The only way she found out who he was, was because her brother had connections. And if someone tells me- especially my own brother- to stay away because someone is trouble, then you sure as hell can believe I will be staying FAR AWAY.

Also it got on my nerves how BIG Demyan made himself at the start of the book, how he acted like Erin was NOTHING and isn’t worth anything. It pissed me OFF.

Okay now that I got that from my soul.

I love Erin she’s a cute girl, Sasha is the SWEETEST SOUL ever, and I totally understand why Erin ran with him after being at a wedding were the groom got shot and the sister of her baby daddy got captured.
She thought her son was in danger, and in my opinion every mother that really cared about her child would do anything in her power to protect it.

50% in and the MMC was still an ASSHOLE, my heart broke for Erin every time he told her she would never see HER son again.
Yes your heard me HER son because she took care of him, SHE sacrificed herself for him. Demyan had NO RIGHT he threw a tantrum like his two year old toddler, only that he destroyed the mother of his child with it.

He got better after that, but to be real I’m still vague about him, he worked over his issues and tried to be better for her and his son but I’m still not quite sure if I love him, my heart still hurts too much for Erin and the way he made her feel, and APOLOGIZE for taking care of her kid when he didn’t want to be found.

The ending really made me want to continue this series, and I love Illya too much to not know what happens to him.

Overall this book made me RAGE, CRY AND SWOON and even tho the MMC isn’t on my bright side just now I still really liked it.

good for angsty mobster drama. But hated the way too realistic portrayal of having a bratva baby daddy. namely violence, threats of more violence, death, paranoia, blood, lifestyle choices that put mother and child in dysfunction family land.

This was my first book by Kira Cole. Very similar to Nicole Fox's books with the secret baby, all the drama, and Bratva theme. I did take off 1⁄2 a star because I felt like the hero seemed almost petulant at times, But it did get better. Overall I really enjoyed it and the cliffy was outstanding, I plan on diving right into the next one.

2.5/3 This duet was a low three for me. Honestly, I didn’t even want to pick up the second book, but I had to keep going because I needed to know how it all wrapped up. Were there interesting parts? Yes. Was it entertaining? At times. But there was also a whole bunch of crazy mixed in.

The first book is chaotic a little bit crazy with a lot happening, and the main characters are pretty hard to like (especially the MMC). I kept waiting to connect with them, but it never fully hit.

By the second book, the story starts dragging. So much unnecessary drama gets tossed in that I kept thinking, “Okay, this has to be the end…” but nope, we kept going. I did enjoy Alina and Ilya’s connection and actually liked their characters more than the leads. I might pick up their book next, but I definitely need a break after powering through this duet.

Dumb, dumb, and more dumb. On repeat.

No substance. Flat forgettable MCs. Except maybe Iliya. No chemistry between the MCs no matter how hard the author tried. Pointless Mafia back drop that isn't explored and so shallow in details it hardly mattered.

The only way the mafia boss/mafia trope came into play was to set up this half assed alliance where Demyan has to marry some other bosses shallow daughter which carries over into the second book. That's it. Otherwise it was a prop, really.

The sex was meh. The forced angst wasn't even good. It was predictable.

The MMC Demyan was an emotional constipated dumbass. Honestly his treatment of the FMC Erin when he learns about his son was ridiculous and immature. I don't care how many times the author has him acknowledge his poor reaction and treatment of her, did it stop him? Did he apologize? Did he feel bad about it? Nope.

And absolutely worst of all was the idea that I'm supposed to buy this young woman and grown ass man were SHOCKED she ended up pregnant after their one night stand. Stunned, I tell you! I mean who would've even thought that if you fuck a stranger all night long without once considering a condom or asking the chick if she's protected that a human miraculously gets created?!? I mean it's not like she didn't have a ton of jizz in her hooha to give her a heads up but nooo. They're always surprised.

The blatant disregard of common sense just to move your plot in the direction you want is such lazy work, y'all. I mean condoms aren't unreasonable in a one night stand situation and they're not fail proof so you can still work your surprise pregnancy angle just fine but whatever.

And then having this average normal woman get kidnapped and forced to watch her baby daddy beat the shit out of and then murder the man who did it right in front of her with no trauma? Beaten all to hell and still she's perfectly fine the next day. Back to business. Sure 🙄

And she still hasn't told him about her new pregnancy because again no one realizes there is birth control available.

I truly should have just quit after the opening chapters tbh.

But I'm committed to wrap this dumpster fire up so I'm sure my review on the final book will be super chill 😂

Erin and Demyan meets by happenstance when there were a room mix-up at their hotel. This led to the two having a night of unbridled passion where no names were exchanged, no phone and come morning the two separated believing that they would never see each other again. However, a month later Erin found that her one reckless night of passion with a stranger comes with consequences when there were two pink lines on the pregnancy test. With no way of contacting her mystery man to let him know that he was going to be a father, she decided to have the baby regardless and raise him by herself with the support of family. When a family member tells her that the baby she was carrying is for a mafia boss, she knew then that she had to do everything in her power to protect and keep her son from him. However, fast forward three years later she was attending her college friend's wedding and came face-to-face with her mystery man again unbeknowing to her that he was the Bratva pakhan of Yegorov.
She learned that her was the brother of her friend. The two started conversating then not after all hell broke lose when gun shot erupted. His sister was kidnapped but saved Erin from almost being kidnapped as well. He doesn't trust her and finds it coincidentally that they meet up again and decided to take her with him because he elieves that she was with his enemies. Erin wants to get back to her son Sasha and was desperate she was somehow able to escape Demyan's clutches and made it back to her son so that they can go on the run from Demyan before he find out. But he wasn't about to allow that and follow her. But as soon as he saw her son immediately knew that he was his. This made him mad so he brought them back to his house and locked her away from their son as punishment for keeping him away from him.
He wouldn't even gave her the chance to explain why and why he wasn't informed about Sasha. Demyan seems to have forgotten that they didn't exchanged names or numbers therefore there was no way that she could inform him. But on after everyone was telling him that he was being unreasonable and clearer heads prevailed he was able to listen then allowed her contact with Sasha again. They were still drawn to each other and their chemistry were still electrifying and magnetic. They embarked on a relationship. But when the life of those he loves is threatened he joins forced with an enemy. As they tries to carve out a little happiness chaos erupts. They're action, violence, danger, attacks, threats, betrayal, spice, enemies, rivalry, anger, fear, drama, tension, emotions and so much more.

Wow—what a wild, exhilarating ride! Kira Cole once again delivers a gripping, emotionally charged story that had me hooked from the very first page. Book One of the Yegorov Bratva series introduces us to Demya and Erin in a way that is both electric and chaotic—in the best way possible.

From the moment Demya and Erin meet, their chemistry is undeniable. Their one-night stand is steamy and intense, but what I loved most is how Kira Cole uses that encounter to launch a plot that is so much deeper than your typical romance trope. Erin’s discovery that she’s pregnant sets off a chain of events that are fraught with tension, secrets, and that perfect touch of danger Kira always brings to her stories.

I really appreciated the added layer of complexity with Erin’s brother being a PI who warns her to stay away from Demya. It adds that extra push-and-pull dynamic that kept me flipping pages late into the night. Erin is strong, determined, and smart—she doesn’t make reckless decisions lightly, and that makes her incredibly relatable. Meanwhile, Demya is the perfect balance of dangerous and protective. He’s a Bratva man through and through, but you can feel the depth of his emotions when it comes to Erin and Sasha, even if he’s not always showing them in conventional ways.

The pacing is fast—blink and you’ll miss something—and the drama never lets up. I found myself completely immersed in the world Kira created. There’s a real sense of urgency in the storytelling, and every twist feels earned. The 298 pages flew by for me, and just when I thought things might settle down, Kira hits us with that cliffhanger. My jaw dropped. No spoilers, but… prepare yourself. You’re going to want Book Two immediately.

Kira Cole has always been one of my favorite authors in the romance and dark mafia romance space, and she proves once again why she’s so consistently good. She knows how to weave passion, danger, emotion, and plot into something that feels cinematic. Her writing is sharp, her characters have depth, and her world-building is rich without ever being overwhelming.

If you love fast-paced romance with high stakes, sizzling chemistry, and a plot that keeps you guessing, then Yegorov Bratva is a must-read. I already know this is going to be one of my favorite series. I’m eagerly counting down the days until the next installment—because after that ending, I need answers!.

Wow! i didn't know what i was expecting, but it wasn't this! Mafia love stories, while very good and so enjoyable, can often be quite predictable, but this? THIS? I loved it!
Erin is a smart woman who found her self at the wrong place at the incredibly perfect time. She has a one night stand with the hottest man she's ever seen, but also never tells her his name. Demyan, said hot man, has had his fill of hook ups with gorgeous women before, but none affected him quite like Erin. However, he could tell that a woman like her had no business being with a mafia man like him, and so he left before she woke up, with no way of getting in contact with each other again.

Erin's night of raw, intense passion resulted in a pregnancy. Her PI brother helped her try to find the father, but when her brother learned how dangerous this man is, he refused to tell Erin his name, but only that it's best they keep hidden.

Three years later, at a wedding they both happen to be at, a tragedy occurs and Erin is forced to live with Demyan. All the secrets come to light and Demyan must choose if he will let his darkness win or will he be the man his father never was? Can Demyan be the one to end the cycle of generational trauma and abuse? Can he forgive Erin from keeping his son from him?

Although Demyan is a bad man who does bad things (especially to Erin), you couldn't help but feel for him. His emotional scars run deep, but he never let them get in his way of loving his half sister or his son. The way he cares for her, protects her, and just wants to make everything better for her is so sweet (in a mafia, murdery kind of way). He wants to bond with his son, be the type of father his never was: kind, loving, affectionate. But he warring feelings about Erin make him do things that ultimately, he is not proud of. He struggles to open his heart to trusting her while understanding why she's kept away. Their story is full of raw emotion, intrigue, suspense and it ends on a cliffhanger.

Man oh man what a ride this was! I am devouring Erin & Demyan’s story. They met at a hotel, and had one night of pure lust, but in the morning Demyan left, with no name or number. Erin tried to find out who he was, but he booked the room under a different name. Weeks later, Erin finds out she’s pregnant with Demyan’s child. She tries to find him again, with the help of her brother but he tells her not to look for the father anymore, because he is a dangerous man. So she doesn’t. And then 3 years pass, and they run into each other at her friends wedding to Demyan’s sister. At the wedding there’s an attack, and Demyan whisks Erin away to his home. She does escape but he catches up to her. And when he sees who her son looks like, he is furious at her for having kept his son away from him.

This had me steaming hot at their first encounter to crying when he had Erin in his house years after they find one another again. I loved every minute of this, even when Demyan royally pissed me off for how he was towards Erin when he brought them back to his home. But I do understand where his hurt came from.

This does end up on a cliff hanger, and I’m nose diving straight into book 2

I loved this audio, it was completed in duet fashion which is my favorite narration type. And James and Maeve brought these characters to life wonderfully.

Erin gets an upgrade at her hotel while away on business, only to find she has gone into the wrong room by mistake when the hot guy from the guy walks in on her.

Erin caught Demyan's eye when they were at the bar and decides to offer her a drink and a chat. Things progress from there, something that Erin has never indulged in before. A night of passion and they go their separate ways the following morning.

Jump ahead a couple of years and Erin is going to her friend Max's wedding. She can't believe who she runs into and the secret she has kept, that he can never find out. But circumstances change quickly at the wedding and when she gets taken hostage by Demyan then the truth does come out.

The story draws you in, from Erin doing something she has always been against, and the consequences that come from that action. Demyan has always had trust issues because of his lifestyle, he'll protect those he knows he can trust. But when he finds out the secret Erin has kept from him he is livid, no matter what Erin says, he punishes her for this.

Even though there is anger between them, their initial attraction is still there bubbling under the surface after all these years. Demyan slowly thaws towards Erin, giving her a little more leeway on the leash he has her on. The attraction eventually snaps and the relationship starts up again. But the business deal that Demyan has had to make in the background to help bring down Nico, may not be all that it seems, is he getting played by Sergio? Now he has a family, can he have the life he wants or will that be cruelly snatched away from him?

I really enjoyed the narration of this book from both the male and female narrator. They really convey the story to the next level, and the duet aspect of this book was spectacular! I can really feel that each character is different just based on the dictation in their voice. That can be important to me when I listen to a book, I love when it pays out like a movie/show in my head... lol 😂 I can say I am somewhat biased to audiobooks and tend to favor them more than physically reading. (It is just a little more convenient for my lifestyle)
This book follows Erin and Demyan; they meet at a bar, they have a one-night stand, and she falls pregnant…. I know stereotypical, BUT it was everything but that! *Please keep in mind that this book ends on a cliffhanger, which is resolved in Scarlet Sins*
I thought this was going to be a cheesy storyline about strong mafia men, and a fragile innocent woman... and it was not! Baabbbbyy this book had PLOT!!! I really did like the FMC Erin and felt for her in her need to protect her son. Now Demyan in the other hand there were times I did not like him (just being honest🤷‍♀️) BUT let us be honest again… when do we like the MMC 100% of the time in a dark romance... okay maybe just me 👀😅 As for the spicy level in this book... it is there!! Demyan has a dirty little mouth on him... That was one if his redeeming factors for me. 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️

Brilliant dual narration from Maeve York and James Cassidy both bring all the humour, angst drama and such spice to your ears. Loved the dual narration.

The wrong room and a very sexy man. When Erin finds herself in the wrong room, she and the true occupant have a very very hot one night stand something she had never done before. She is not just alone with her hot memories but a gorgeous son. When she finds out about her pregnancy she tried find the sexy occupant, but stops when her brother tells her that the man is from the Russian Mafia and very dangerous.
Three years later Erin is at her good friend Max wedding. When she walks in to Demyan the father of her three year old son and brother to the bride Alina.
Even thing goes bad to worse, Max is shot dead, his bride to be Alina, abducted and Erin is by Demyan, who believes she could be part of it.
The only secret Erin has a gorgeous two year old boy, that looks like his dad, but the truth comes out and Demyan who had major trust issues finds it hard to believe that Erin is innocent in his life. His attraction is strong and trust for Erin grows stronger.
With betrayal Demyan needs to fight hard to keep his new family and stop punishing Erin.

Loved the characters, their strengths, weaknesses, the angst, drama and spice.

All hell breaks loose at the wedding, and then Erin is taken by Demya for her safety. He locks her in a room in his mansion, but she manages to escape while he's out looking for his kidnapped sister. She goes on the run with her son, Sasha, with the help of her friend. When Demya finds his sister and she accidentally gives away Erin's secret, Demya goes to find her. Demya finds her bringing her back to his mansion and punishes her for what she did to him. Kira keeps you turning the pages with all the twists and turns you don't see coming.
I received an arc for my voluntary honest review for NN Book Blog. You will love this book if you love a fast-paced, steamy Mafia single mom romance. Be warned, this book does end on a giant cliffhanger. I can't wait for Book Two in this series to see what happens next and more of Demya and Erin's story.

Erin has a one-night stand with a hot guy who never tells her his name.
She finds herself pregnant with no way to contact him. She elects to keep the baby and raise him herself. Her stepbrother does find out he is not someone she should be contacting due to his background.
She attends a wedding of her college friend and finds Demyan at the wedding.
At the wedding there is a shootout and Demyan's sister who is the bride is abducted, and Erin is nearly abducted as well.
Demyan suspects Erin is a plant and abducts her and confines her to his home. She manages to escape and takes her son and goes on the run. Demyan finds her, and his son, and takes them back to his home.
He confines her to a room, does not allow her to see her son, and refuses to hear her explanation.
Finally, he relents and allows her contact with Sasha, and they start to develop a relationship.
There are multiple subplots, great twists and suspense. The character development is excellent.
This story is part one; I can't wait for the next book.

This is Book 1 in the Yegorov Bratva duet and is Demyan and Erin's story.
Their journey starts with an intense, steamy, unbelievable and beautiful one night stand where Erin had no idea what Demyan’s name was after he left her in bed sometime during the early hours. Coming back together at a wedding 3 years after their one night stand is a surprise for both of them, the wedding is ambushed and the bride is abducted and Demyan rescues Erin from the abduction but he keeps her captive, Erin is beside herself worrying how she is going to contact her friend who is looking after her son without telling Demyan he has a 2 year old son!
Strap yourself in for an intense, emotional, dramatic, steamy, one night stand story and keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish that ends on a cliffhanger!

I have to admit that I couldn't not get over how Demyan treated her when he found out about his son. Dude... you know who you are and what you do for a living.Why would she want her son around that? Not to mention, he doesn't even acknowledge the fact that he never gave her his name!

He is so hard-headed and just thinks everything revolves around him. He was so super paranoid when they first met, then at the wedding it was 10 times worse, assuming she was trying to get to him. How paranoid is this guy? Even when finding out the truth, he didn't believe it.

I don't understand why, after what he did to her, she just jumped back into bed with him. There wasn't nearly enough apology and grovelling involved. There seems to be some Stockholm Syndrome going on or something. She was ready to drop her job and life to move in with him and get married, and I can't see why.

Even so, I am enjoying this book, I will definitely continue to the next one. That cliffhanger...

This is the 1st story in the Yegorov Bratva Series when were introduced to Demyan from the Russian Bratva and Erin working in the marketing world. While on a business trip Erin finds herself in the wrong luxurious room belonging to Demyan and the sparks between them has them spending an unforgettable night together. No personal information is shared. Three years later they are both at the same wedding and things go horribly wrong and Erin is believed to be an enemy but her secret when discovered has caused some horrible reactions from Demyan. Erin made her decisions as a single mom to protect her son. The trust between them is non existent and the journey they take to become more is full of steaminess, danger, kidnappings and a cliffhanger you’ll scream waiting for the next part of their story!! First thing to note is this is part one of the Yegorov Bratva. Unlike most of Kira’s books I’ve read and reviewed this in not a one and done HEA. Which I’m thrilled about since my biggest “complaint” with some of her other series’s individual books could have been longer or a 2-part.
On to the actual book. I loved this book. It was dark and demyen broody. I will say Erin felt a bit of a push over but I guess it might just be me. Demyen blames Erin for keeping their child from him and keeps her locked away to punish her. Literally everyone in the book tells him he’s being ridiculous but Pakhans will be Pakhans. The book ends in a cliffhanger so don’t expect any ending resolutions what so ever. But that being said I’m excited to see how the story progresses in the next book.

Arc Review

This is the first in the duet of the Yegorov Bratva.

“Are you staying or leaving?” That was the biggest question Erin needed to confront. Was it all worth it in the end?
Caught in headlights. The Doe effect.

A blissful and yet unexpected night. 3 yrs later and Erin is on repeat plus a package. An unexpected reunion with Demyan. Now what?

Oh yes, there is a cliffhanger. What is it with heirs of Bratva/Mafia or any illegal mob? The Dons of past all know of expectations, retaliation,POWER.
Demyan was almost that person until Erin. Ok, no more spoiling if any.

Erin an innocent, a nobody who had a one night stand with a sexy stranger.

I fell into the tiktok trap on this one and was really looking forward to it.

Sadly, at this point, I'm done.

Demyon's need to punish her for keeping his son from him is so stupid and annoying AF when he NEVER EVEN TOLD HER HIS NAME!

So I came here to check out other reviews to decide if I should power through. I read one that made me decide it wasn't worth it.

Now typically if I DNF a book I won't rate it because I don't think it's fair if I didn't read the whole thing

BUT!

I am rating this one star because I read in another review that this ends on a cliffhanger - and there's nothing in the blurb that tells me this can't standalone and THAT pisses me off enough to rate it.

Just because it's part of a series is not enough to indicate it can't be read as a standalone. That should always be made clear in the blurb.

I was really enjoying this book up until they meet again and he locks her away from her child, isolating her and what does she do? Jumps straight into bed with him

I’d imagine his overreaction to not knowing about the kid is on par to how someone with his upbringing and a bratva head would react - all his feelings and ignoring her reasons.

But the emotional torture of what he done and a mother wanting to protect her child from that level of cruelty, she wouldn’t have jumped in his bed without him answering for his behaviour is some way. It would have been nice to have had some fight back before this happened

Unfortunately Demyan doesn’t really improve any. He remains cold and standoffish even after he admits his feelings. He just comes across as someone happy to use her and expects her to obey him with no voice.

A one-night stand turns into so much more when Erin accidently meets a mysterious man who never tells her his name. She meets a sexy man and has a night to remember. Demyan Yegorov is a very dangerous Bratva boss who has no time for entanglements. A captivating story as shy low self-esteem Erin stands up to Demyan to protect those she loves. He becomes a devil out for revenge, but he can't help being intrigued by her and her innocence. I love a story with a big arrogant mafia falling for the one who challenges him there's always witty banter, sexual tension and a great story to bring them together. Amazing book and the first half of the duet!

After a one night stand Erin finds herself pregnant, but after three years she sees Demyan and he discovers her secret.

To say Demyan isn't happy to know what she had done is starting the obvious. But even though he wants to punish her, she is under her skin. That attraction and chemistry is still alive and well and overtakes the relationship.

A story chock full of danger, drama, suspense and intimate moments made this a must read for me. Erin knew what she did and why, not wanting her child mixed up in the Mafia world.

So well done and a delight to read!.

This story was very intense and suspenseful. It was very well-written. One thing to remember this story is part of a duet.

Erin is on a business trip and is in the wrong hotel room. She meets Demyan who is in the mafia. They have chemistry and spend a night together. They don't share any information with each other. Erin finds herself pregnant. She has no way of contacting Demyan.

A few years later Erin and Demyan meet again. He finds out that she has a child with him. They still have the same chemistry as before. Demyan is upset that she kept his child from him. He questions everything.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this story goes. Very well done.

I really liked this book. I think both Demyan and Erin were portrayed pretty realistically. On one hand Erins choice of hiding Sasha from Demyan is a very humaine reaction. She just wanted her son to be safe and you can't get mad about that. On the other hand I still understand Demyans anger towards this decision. I mean he kind of "lost" the first two years of his sons life. While some of his actions responding to the situation with his son are a little extreme, I guess I understand where he's coming from. Still thats not an excuse for his behaviour, but maybe an explanation. Overall I think so far the story is very compelling and it makes you wonder what will happen next. I'm very excited about reading the second book. For me Scarlet Secrets is 4.5/5⭐
