A beautifully written short story

A beautifully written short story
A girl narrates her grandpa. It was hardly fifteen minutes read and brilliantly written.

gravity was pulling his skin down, everything was getting droopy and saggy.

My Mother always said I was a precocious young lady, although I wasn’t sure what that meant.

“When you get older, like me, some things you forget, some things you remember and some things … well … you’ll never forget.” He gazed back out at the rolling ocean, searching, the corners of his dry lips creeping up as something pleasant wound its way through the labyrinth of his memories.

I'm pretty torn about this story. On one hand I loved Maddie (the child MC) who's telling the story and her new relationship to her grandfather. To some point I liked his story as well, but struggled with the ending so much I don't think I'll read it ever again - and that's really sad, especially since I loved the writting style, they way the story developed and the fact it was so different. Additional bonus: there was not a single typo, incorrect word or any formatting issues.
Until the last or second to last page I'd give the short story a very strong four star rating with the possibility of it becomming five stars which shows how strongly I feel about that last part :-(

A short story focusing on a young girl who is spending a week's holiday at the seaside with her family and her grandfather. The old man and the young girl get close just a few days before his death and he tells her about an old affair with a woman who has been the true love of his life. After the burial the girl sees his grandfather's and that woman's spirits finally together and happy.
I did not enjoy this quite banal story. The plot could have taken a much more meaningful direction exploring the old man's personality, his realtionship with his wife, the issue of senescence, the relationship between the girl and her grandfather, and so on. As it is, in my opinion it is pointless. Furthermore I don't like stories which show people seeing and talking to spirits, I don't think that happens in real life. People talk to their loved dead ones because they miss them and look for consolation, but this is only in their head, it's a spiritual connection, they don't actually interact with spirits.
I would not recommend this title.

Well do try to give books a chance and I did with this one but I found it so hard to get into and I found hard to connect with the characters and I think if the story was longer it might have been a little better. As this was a book I was reading for a personal read-a-thon I have created on Book Amino it was ok and a quick read. I don't like to give books a one star rating but a two star was just to much to give this book.

Nicely painted picture.
Youth getting to know her aged grandfather.
Middle age caring for her aged father.
Aged male longing for the past and holding out hope for the future.
Has the possibility of being a tear jerker if <<

Maddie is a precocious 10 year old full of questions. This time she directs them to her grandfather while she’s visiting. The story she gets is both beautiful and heart breaking.
This was such a good story, I just wanted to cry at the end. Moving and written well. Thank you for this story!

A really simple and elegant novel. It talks about love, life, death, changes and moving on.

She said that maybe in another life, in another time and place, we could have been together. And if there ever was such a place, we would find each other somehow.

It is a 20-30 minutes read. Can be easily picked up for short distance travelling. I would definitely recommend it. It is available for free on Kindle.

Life is all about loving and experiencing. When we lose our loved ones, though we exist we don't live. This is a story if a man who lost his true love and is waiting to meet her in another dimension. The author has done an excellent job of showcasing few emotions.

it was a really good read until I reached the last bit..the ending was slightly incomprehensible and unsettling. Overall, a fine pastime 👍

Another love story which touched me deeply. It’s just too simple and may be that’s why I love it. I almost had tears in my eyes...

The cover's fantastic, let me tell you.

The story not so fantastic. I'm not sure I got the point of it, I guess. There's this little girl who goes to visit her Granpa with her family. Grandpa is forgetting lots of things but he tells her the story of his love for an elder woman, whom he met when his marriage was already ending.

I missed the point. Is this about disease? Or is it about missed chances? And what about the
