WARNING

This is not your typical love story.

Asher stalked her because there was something about her that was undeniable, she's a mystery and he's drawn to her like nothing else, but nothing could prepare him for what he found.

Zel makes people's problems go away. She's cynical, aggressive and has no regard for human life, but when Asher crosses her path he becomes a problem she couldn't possibly 'make go away' as easy as the others.

Asher finds himself in way too deep when the lives of everyone he loves is threatened and he has to play the willing captive to keep them safe.

Zel has her own problems, someone wants her dead and they're not shy about it. They both won't be safe until she gets to them first.

Secrets unfold, lies are told and sacrifices are made. Consequences be damned.

"I can't see anything but you."

Zel
“She’s like a rose with thorns. She’s beautiful and nice to look at, but if you try and pick her she’ll cut you. Eventually you’ll bleed.”

Asher
She’s like an addiction, I know she’s bad for me and I should leave her alone, but now that I’ve gotten a small dose, I only want more.

Asher has no clue as to who the girl he is obsessing about truly is. She won't give him the time of day, happy to ignore him and pay him no mind. It drives him crazy, no one can resist him, he's made his way around the campus and got everything and everyone he's ever wanted. No promises just the pleasure that him and his Prince Albert can give. Sometimes you have to be careful for what you wish for, because as soon as she turns her focus on him, all he wants to do is run away ... but in some morbid way all he wants to do is stay by her side, using his family as an excuse to stay close.
“Well then dats a shame coz if you’re not willin’ to cross dat line, then I’ll drop you off somewhere and you go back to your college fairytale where you’re di trackstar who lives happily eva after, fuckin’ one pussy-brained teenager at a time.”

Zel has her routine down to a T, she has no room for distractions, and Asher is the biggest one of them yet. But when Riley, her assistant, shares some interesting news about him, she has no choice but to keep him near even if the way he is making her feel scares her to no end. All he wants is one shot to prove to her, but she is too fucked up to let anything more happen, especially when just one kiss all her memories she kept locked time come flooding back...
“Feel that?” I say as I thrust into her more savagely, feeling the intoxicating build up in my balls, rousing me as I fuck her harder and her moaning fills the dark room. “This is where you belong.”

Being with him doesn't just awaken her desires, it also bring back the past and it isn't something she was prepared to face...

Zel is the first book in the Deviant & Saints series, we get introduced to Asher the cocky-campus-man-whore who has met his match and then some. Still not sure "which" is the real Asher, the one he was in the beginning of the book or the one he is with Zel. If it is the latter then he is easy to fall for, it was just his sexcapades that held me back for going all-in. Zel is one bad-ass-chick, she is a hired gun, skilled and has little to no morals. Plus her accent, totally kick-ass, heard it in my head as I was reading and it was pretty damn exciting, just made her more real!

There are a lot of unanswered questions for me, ones that I'm hoping gets revealed in the next book. Zel is one big mystery, the whys of what she does, and what happened to her to make her be so young and so jaded and cold. The flashbacks that Asher experiences, and the memories that want to break free from Zel never really are explored. But all that mystery kept me glued to each page, not wanting to miss a beat and wanting to see where the story will go.

This is a recommended read for sure, for those who like a little their romance with a twist of suspense, a healthy dose of secrets and a spicy kick.

It is not very often that I take a chance on a brand new, unseasoned, author.  A month or so back, however, I stumbled upon a teaser for Zel and was intrigued enough to pause and check out the book on Goodreads.  When I was approached to review, I thought "why the hell not give it a try". It seems dark and dirty, which I tend to enjoy.

Zel is dark and dirty.

Zel's first chapter throws you right into her life as an assassin.  There is no guessing as to what kind of person she is.  She's a no holds barred, get it done at any cost, take charge type.  She'll use any means necessary to complete her task.  She makes no excuses for them or the people that suffer in her wake.

Ahser's life is vastly different from Zel's in most ways but not all.  Again, Brown gives a great taste as to who Asher is as a character right off bat. There is no warm up period.  Asher is cocky, extremely good looking guy that takes full advantage of his looks and charms.  So much so that he has a video library to prove it.  Demeaning women who willingly come up on him isn't a concern of his.  They mean nothing more than a quick release, a nice fuck, a way to pass a little time before the next piece of tail walks in.

That next piece of tail is Zel, and she couldn't give two fucks about Asher. Her not giving him the time of day has him obsessed. An obsession that puts him in the entirely wrong place, at the perfect wrong time, but with the exact right person.

I am a little infatuated with both Zel and Asher as characters.  They are both blunt and brutal with their words and actions.  Even with their harsh ways I still found myself wanting to know more about them. I didn't care that Asher was a total ass to women or that he spoke like an entitled dickhead, because there were enough moments interspersed of something more caring that made him interesting.  Same with Zel. She is a cold hearted murderer but there is such a delicate and fragile inside to her.  We get a small peak at that and it really makes me want to know her whole story.

Zel is a very sexually charged book, but really without a whole hell of a lot of sex.  Which, I liked. It gave way to more action and character development and I think that is important for the setup of the series.

I'm excited to see where this story goes and to get a deeper look at all the characters involved. Zel was a strong debut, in my opinion, I'm glad I gave it a shot.

This is a debut?! I opened this book believing I would love it and I’m happy to see I was definitely right in my prediction. Action, grit, violence, and some scorching hot scenes, Zel earns a five star rating from me!

Zel thrusts us into each of the main character’s lives and we get to learn about each one of them personally along with some background information but not too much since a lot is slowly revealed throughout the story. I thought the pacing of this book was PHENOMENAL… there wasn’t a plateau nor a spot where the book leveled off- nope. This one had me on the edge of my seat the entire ride!

I know every crease and crevice of the unforgivable path I chose and I should be scared shitless but I can't be.

Zel is a Jamaican beauty, a contract killer, and one feisty b!tch. She holds A LOT of secrets and doesn’t let ANYONE get under her skin. Asher is a stunningly handsome- track star- rich boy who hides a darker side of himself from most others. Both Zel and Asher have an extremely dark latent sexual side which definitely creates a thrilling undertone while reading- so much tension (but the good kind).

The core of the story revolves around Zel as her past and sins begin to catch up with her. Asher becomes unwittingly entangled into a dangerous game as his obsession for her leads him into the dragon’s lair.

Something very strange happened to me while I was reading this- I liked the male main character MORE than the female. I usually always prefer the female main character’s point of view when reading. But for some reason I couldn’t really connect with Zel- and not because she was a tough b!tch because I do love Alpha females. I just became exasperated with her throughout the story… I thought she was too over the top…too cruel to the point where I lost empathy for her. I’m sorry Zel, you’re just not my type.

It's me.

Regardless, I am completely sucked into the story and it’s going to drive me crazy until I can find out what happens next! The book ends in a massive cliffhanger which builds my anticipation for the next book. I think the author balanced just enough big revelations throughout the story but keeping some threads open where there is still so much action to come. Who knows- maybe Zel will be redeemable to me in the next book and I’m eager to find out.

Personally I found this book to be applicable to soooo many genres- not just dark. There was a crime aspect, thriller aspect, erotica aspect, suspense, humor, pretty much everything! So I encourage all readers of various genres to give this one a try- you won’t be disappointed!

4 filthy stars

I certainly enjoyed this book. It was very well written, and fast paced. The characters- Zel and Asher were freaking awesome. And I have to say, so far, Zel is the most badass chick I've ever read. I was completely sold when she put a cockroach in Connie's sandwich. I mean seriously, that girl has the balls to accept it to Connie in her face.

Both Ash and Zel were attracted to each other, and for reasons, Zel chose not to kill him. Oh yeah, she was a contract assassin.

The story was very intriguing, and the secrets were killing me. So many variables- Mia, Alex, Roan, and at the top Zel and Asher. Wildly erotic, and dirty dirty dirty.

Just can't wait to dig into Ash.

I was given an ARC of this book by the author in return for my honest review.

That’s definitely NOT your typical love story! I love the characters that Shantaye created. Zelina is a mysterious, ruthless, sexy half Jamaican assassin, a wildcat! Asher is a hot college student and track star obsessed with Zel. Zel is a bad-ass, alpha-female heroine that tests your sanity.

Sometimes hot as hell and some other times cold as ice. I was kept nose deep in this book from beginning to end.

‘Zel’ is one heck of a hot, explosive book and keep you reading until the very last page. It is well written and the main characters are brilliant! There wasn't a point in the story where I could say anything bad about this book. I highly recommend it! Need next installment NOW!

***Given ARC in exchange for an honest review***

I don't even know where to start with this one! Being Shantaye's debut book, she knocked this one out of the ball park and left me wanting more! It's very hard to believe that this is her first book. I'm like, where have you been all my lift ;) Zel is not your normal female character. She's the most alpha female I've ever had the privelage to meet. It was such a nice change from all the other books I've been reading where the female is a victim or ran by the man. Then you have Asher. Can I just say, he's hot and the perfect match for Zel in this. At first I wasn't sure I was going to like him. He's over the top cocky but after reading, I'd say he has a reason to be. But Zel threw him for a loop too so that helped. The plot has many twist and I really didn't know where it was going to go. I can't say how much this book was unlike anything I've read. Right from the very start of this book it grabs you in and doesn't let go. Some of the dialect that Zel has going on will crack you up. She is not a push over. I so can't wait for more of this series and honestly any book that Shantaye will come out with. Fan for life right here!

I was given an ARC of this book by the author in return for an honest review.

This was an intense and seriously hot book. The storyline is a LOT different from other books I've read. That is a good thing! It kept me engaged from beginning to end. The characters are great. You get a feel for who they are and how they got that way from teasing little snippets throughout the book. I like that it doesn't drop it all onto you at once. It gives you the ability to grow your thoughts on them for yourself. The character interaction is crazy. Sometimes it in steamy sexy holy hotness then all of a sudden it's in holy shit they're going to kill each other kind of ways. It has plot twist that are still kind of hidden, but tease you into trying to guess what's coming. I'll tell you upfront, I was wrong with every one of my guesses, and that is VERY rare. It's a cliffhanger, so of course now I'm dying for book 2! Damn good job!

4 Killer Stars!

What a killer surprise! I'm shocked that this is from a debut author. This book was full of action with a side of kick-ass heroine!

"To some it would seem extremely inhumane and uncivilized but to me this is a dream come true. All the death and torture I get the honor of dishing out is like my daily dose of sanity pills for my depraved mind. It keeps me in check."

I didn't know what to expect in this book. I was pleasantly surprised by the end, and I wanted more. Like I want the second book right now. I left some nasty messages to the author begging for the second book. It wasn't as dark as I expected, but it packed one helleva punch.

Ok, where do I start. Zelina an assassin. Asher the playboy track star. The beginning, we get some insight into the life of Zel and Asher, but we really don't know if any of this really happened. Here's the kicker, Asher is stalking the wrong person and he soon finds out he made the wrong choice in woman. Or did he? Zel is a bit of mystery, a killer, and just bad-assery. When these two collide is it by chance or fate? I have to warn you, this ends on a cliffhanger, and we don't get many answers, but it does leave you eager to read the next. I have a feeling this author is one to watch for. I'm glad the author stayed true to her Jamaican roots, it made the book that much more real in my mind. And simply unique. It's not often we get a tough heroine, it's a refreshing change.

The only problem I had with this story was the character's age, I couldn't wrap my head around two nineteen year olds with so much history. Some of the things that happened were at a young age, but I still couldn't make myself believe at times. The past is what shaped their future, so let's see if she can knock my socks off with the next book.

Stellar Debut, Shantaye Brown!

Shantaye Brown has created a world for us to get lost and be jealous of these characters that she brought to life in this book, her DEBUT book.

I was captivated from page one and couldn't put it down.

This is not your typical boy meets girl, girl falls for boy, boy and girl ride off into the sunset.
This is boy stalks to boy, girl drugs boy, boy and girl are on the run to stay alive.
But in between there is hot sex, lots of yelling, and killing like it just like going to store to get groceries.

Zelina is a force to be reckon with. She is the type of woman that every man wants and every woman wants to be. She has this past that she is trying to keep hidden but there is someone breaking down those walls.
Asher is a cocky man who is stalking Zel and needs to be with her. Stalking her gets him into trouble and this kinda trouble is turning him on.
The chemistry between the two is HOT! HOT! HOT!
I loved the cast of characters that we were introduced and I am looking forward to seeing how they will all come together.

The story is great but I was disappointed that it ended! I need more. This is a must read book.
I am still blown away by the fact that this is her debut novel.

The cover of Zel is what caught my eye. I didn't even read the description of the book to know that I wanted to get my hands on a copy, the cover was HOT! I was privileged enough to get a chance and read Zel Deviants & Saints in return for an honest review.

This book was incredibly intense, suspenseful, highly charged, raw and even had humor. I was deeply enaged from the begining to the end. A definite page turner. I swear if life hadn't got in the way I would have finished this book in one sitting.

When Zel was introduced in the book I was automatically intrigued by her. She was wicked, and I mean that in a good way. I like reading books that have a female character who are totally bad asses. She could probably kill someone with her pinky if she wanted to. Zel is a women who is not driven by revenge or insanity, she just likes to kill. See Zel is an assassin. Zel was a stone cold killer and doesn't have a problem with ending someones life, that is until she meets Asher. Asher is a college student who bounces from one female to another, not the settling type. He see's Zel at a restaurant she works at and gets this obsession with her. (STALKER) what his friends like to call him. One night he makes a bad decision and decided he would follow her home. (BIG MISTAKE) Zel is not the girl he fantasized about. There journey together is far from simple, Zel trying to stay alive and Asher now caught up in a life he never asked for.

As I was reading more I kept picturing the movie Columbia. Zoe Saldana is who I see as Zel.

What more is there to say other then what I just expressed. I absolutely loved the story, I cant get enough of Zel and Archer. I'm so eager to get my hands on the second book, waiting is definitely going to be torture.
Be warned the book does leave you at a cliffhanger.

Zel (Deviants & Saints 1) is written by Shantaye Brown. The book starts off with Asher, a college track star that loves the ladies. He also loves to record any sex act, he and his friend Brody sometimes perform on these ladies. Regardless of this fact, he is only interested in one woman, Zel, who waits tables at a local restaurant where he boarded line stalks her. After she has a run-in with one of the women that Asher has sex with, who just happens to invite herself along with them to the restaurant, Zel leaves the restaurant expectantly. Asher follows her because he wants to apologize for her losing her job and the way his "friend" treated her. But Zel sneaks up on Asher, gets the jump on him and takes him hostage. Asher never had a clue, but he is quickly finding out that Zel is a killer, one that gets paid for it, to be exact. She plans to kill Asher too, that is until she find out that he is related to some one that is important to her. There is also something about him that draws her to him; she just seems to get into her head. She lets Asher get away with things that she would never let others get away with, and he seems to complicate her life in ways that she has never had to deal with before. Asher feels what is between them as well. He knows that Zel is a killer, but that doesn't change the fact that he will do anything to get into her pants, but it’s also more than that, he wants to get to know her. He also is willing to do anything to protect her, and wants to make her feel safe, so she knows that there is someone that she can open up to. But the feeling they have for each other have to take a back seat due to the fact that someone is trying to kill them both, and when the people that are after them show up at the house Zel is staying at they have to run and lay low until they find out who wants them dead.
Zel is a one of a kind book. Once you get hooked there is no putting it down. There is crazy hot sexually tension between Zel and Asher, not to mention some super-hot sex scenes. This book is amazing! I can't think of any other book out there right now that truly compares to all the crazy drama, and hotness that is woven throughout this story. Brown did an amazing job, and the cliff hanger that the end will have me and any other reader coming back for more, and counting down the days until she releases the next part in the series! This book is a must read for anyone who loves a good romance with some crazy and kink mixed!

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

What can you expect when a track star stalks a really a bad girl that turns out to be a Jamaican Hit Woman? Mystery, drama and lust filled interaction between two unexpected characters is exactly what you will get. Zel is the first book in a trilogy by Shantaye Brown. This is the story of a young girl that is more than she seems and a man/boy that doesn’t know what hit him!

This is an insane, wild ride that is sometimes funny and other times intensely down and dirty. Zel is a nineteen year old Jamaican that deals with other peoples’ problems in a way that is aggressive and is totally without a conscience. Life has no meaning for her only how it will work for her to accomplish her goals. When she runs into Asher, she finds someone that it is not so easy to make go away!

Asher is a man that is totally into self-gratification. He and his friends are college students that like to film one another having sex with as many girls on campus as possible. When he becomes enthralled with a seductive beauty, he follows her only to find out that she is more than the girl he thought her to be. She kills for a living and when he watches her kill, his life is forever changed. Has Asher met his match? Will he survive Zel? Is there a future for a hit-gal and a self-professed man whore? Or will whoever is after Zel get a hit on the hit-gal?

Hero: Asher 4.5 stars
Heroine: Zel 4.5 stars
Plot: 4.5 stars
Steam Level: 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger: Yes

Would I recommend this book: Yes! Totally hot read that will leave you asking what just happened? Sexy male hero that bites off more than he expected when he stalks a hit woman in disguise only to discover that she is not what she appears to be! It is also filled with the taste of Jamaica, its language, culture and cuisine.

Would I recommend this author: Yes! This is the first book that I have read by this author and I love her crazy style! Cannot wait to read what is next from this talent writer! I look forward to her next venture into Zel’s world.

Wow where to start with this book? The minute you start reading you are placed right in the action with no explanation which just makes you keep reading I read this book in about 2 days it had me that hooked on the story. Although you start right in the action you don't find out what really happens in the beginning until further into the book and that just leads to even more unanswered questions. This book is about Asher who is an athlete who runs track and Zelina who is a hired killer. The two most unlikely people to ever end up together. Asher sees Zel at a diner where she is working a job and he becomes so obsessed with her that he even starts stalking her by following her home. Eventually he ends up in a whole lot of trouble and gets more than he bargained for when he's caught by Zelina. She's ready to kill him but her assistant tells her something interesting but again answers no questions only makes you as the reader ask more questions so she lets him live. They run away together and he learns things about her and himself. The sexual tension is so high and they don't even actually fuck until way near the end of the book, I've never wanted to get to the sex scene in a book so much in my life that when it happened I was relieved. The books ends with some characters that we know nothing about being mentioned or showing up. The cliffhanger ending had me going "what? wtf? what just happened?!" a real mindfuck ending, the whole book is a bunch of questions that only lead to more questions I've never been so intrigued by a book before. A really great start to what i'm sure will be an awesome series.

Fantastically disturbing erotica with a twist. I received this ARC for an honest review. I found the book and characters shocking in their originality. I've never come across such a unique character as Zelina. She's brutal, hateful and messed up. But, damn if I don't love her too. You know there's more to her then we're shown, it's ugly, it'll probably make me cry. But, you want to love her. Asher is quite the surprise, yummolicious is just the beginning, he's tougher than you'd first think and sweet in his own warped way. The story grabbed me by the throat and wouldn't let go. I'm anxiously to read the second book and see where they're all going. So many pieces to this puzzle, you want to just keep reading and reading. I really enjoyed the dialogue and found the use of Jamaican patois enriched the character. Superb first novel from an amazingly talented woman. I'll be reading much more from Shantaye Brown.

WOW! I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review, and here it is. Holy cow! This book had me from page one and I could not put it down. Shantaye Brown had me hooked. I was reading right along and all of a sudden...I was at the end, turned the page on my kindle to read on...and it was the end! I can not wait for book 2. Dark, steamy and humor all rolled into one. Zel is an assassin and Asher is a jock that just can't get her off his mind, a great Alpha male...This book has so many twists and I was not expecting the one at the end! This girl can write! A definite must read in this book. You will not be disappointed and you will beg for book two, I can assure you. I most certainly can not wait myself and look forward to whatever may be coming!!!

Shantaye Brown held me captive with her writing of Zel. Throughout the book my emotions ran the gammet. At times I found myself cringing at the violence, yet cheering it on. While I was quite drawn to the characters, I was also repulsed by their actions. There were even moments that had me laughing out loud.

The sex scenes were very well written and extremely hot. I am anxious to see where Shantaye Brown takes the story from here and can't wait for the next book. I give Zel 4 stars.

I was so happy when I stumbled upon this book. I was looking for non-paranormal books with heroines that are badass on their own right, straight up without a boyfriend or their man being a crutch. Zel is one such independent kickass heroine and I loved her kind of crazy. When I finished this book, which ends in a cliffhanger, I was so excited and wanted to jump right into the next book. Imagine my surprise and frustration when I cannot find it anywhere, and I mean anywhere. Book 2 is listed as published on 31 December 2015 but it looks like the author never finished it because it is still sitting in her GR shelf called “now writing”. This right here is why I hate books that end in cliffhangers.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about this book or the characters when I started reading Zell. My emotions were kind of all over the place. In the first chapters, I was sure about one thing, I didn’t like Asher, who is Zell’s love interest, at all. I will tell you more about Asher later on. HOWEVER, as I continued reading, my feelings for him began changing a little bit. Even though, I didn’t like him, the mystery and the thrills earned 4 stars from me. The book is well-written and the pacing of the storyline is fast and sucks you in, not letting you go until you have finished the book.

Now…back to the characters. Zell and Asher have to be the most complicated characters that I have ever come across. I couldn’t decide if I liked them or hated them. When I first met Asher, I can say I hated him. Yes, he very hot and very sexy, but he was crude and disrespectful to women. Ugh…you will see what I mean when you read the book. But, I must say I disliked the girls as much as I did him because they allowed themselves to be treated that way. I would have taken his cell phone and shoved it down his throat if not other places less pleasant for him. But, he was completely different with Zell! My dislike for him changed quickly when Zell entered his world. In fact, I felt sorry for him. She turned the tables on him very quickly. She treated him a lot worse than he treated his conquests. What a woman, or should I say killer! She is a bada$$ and is more of an alpha than many men I have met in other books. I wouldn’t want to cross her! Zell is truly unforgettable. She should be in a movie! If you have ever seen the movie Scarface, she should have the lead instead of Al Pacino! It’s her character that makes this book different than other books. It’s not her romance with Asher, although I’m not sure I would say romance, it’s her character! I liked seeing such a strong female even though she is a bit dark and twisted. Some softer sides of her show through very briefly but her walls were back up. She was scarred deeply in her past, and I have to respect her for not giving up, not just surviving but making herself into a person that will never be run over by life again.

It’s very rare for me to start a book not liking it and changing my mind completely, but I did with this one. I want to read more in the series to see what’s going to happen. I want to know what makes Asher and Zell tick. I want to know the mysteries of their pasts. I wouldn’t say it ends in a traditional cliffhanger in which the reader doesn’t know the surprise, but it’s a character who gets the shock of their lives when a secret is revealed. This is yet another thing that makes this book unique. If you are looking for a different, well-written, and complicated book that will keep you reading until you are finished, give this one a try!

OMG...what an awesome cliffhanger...I was waiting the entire book to find out what the big secret was and then BAM...there it was and OMG!!
I was offered a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and let me tell you it was one of those books where you read a paragraph and then go "wait what??" and then I want to read it again because I can't believe what just happened.
A totally crazy, wild and messed up journey about Zel, a Jamaican "hit-girl" (she really is and at only 19 years old it blows the mind) and Asher, the college lawyer-to-be preppy manwhore who has been stalking her because he is in lust and wants to know her better. Asher and his buddy like to film each other having sex with all the girls on campus and it's a dirty, nasty bit of fun for them totally at the expense of the long line of women who just apparently drop to their knees for these two hunks. When Asher does a stupid thing one night and decides to follow home the exotic beauty he has been crushing on (only to find out she is NOT a waitress but a killer), he finds himself in a whole lot of trouble and becomes captive to her in more ways than one.
There is so much detailed plot in this novel and so many supporting characters who give the story life and color (her assistant, her BFF bi-sexual GF and her EX BF just to name a few) that to tell too many details would just ruin all the surprises. Let me just say that if you like outspoken, tough chicks with plenty of dirty talk and violent tendencies...you will love this explicit, dark but at times really funny book. I also got a kick out of her Jamaican accent and speak since I grew up with a group of friends from there and this made me crave some goat curry and Jamaican rum MON!
It is part one of a series and leaves you with a punch to the gut. Can not wait to read the next book because that ending...damn!

I received a free ebook copy in exchange for an honest review....

Let me start off by saying that I liked the idea of this book. I thought the writing flowed smoothly. The characters in this story were interesting.

What I had a problem with though? There was no plot-line in my opinion. I mean there could have been or was, however it got lost in all the sex. I couldn't make heads or tails of what this book was supposed to be about because of all the sex. Within the first 15% of the book there were about 8 sex scenes or hinted sex scenes. That much sex in a book does not bother me in the least, but with the way this book handled it....I just didn't like it. And they weren't with the same two people or even two couples. There was a sexual situation between Zel and this one guy, then that same guy and another guy had a scene. Then cut to Asher. There was hint of sex between him and this cheerleader, then his friend Brody and this blonde girl, then Asher and the blonde girl, then Asher and the blonde girl and Brody, then hints of Brody wanting this redhead, then Asher wanting Zel....I mean there was too much, too fast. You couldn't keep up with anything really. All of this took away from the story and became way too hectic. Plus, I just wasn't feeling the sex scenes either. With all of that going on it just felt too forced in my opinion and lacked chemistry. Made the sex feel cheap. Now I have read books where there was a lot of sex involved and no plot (just one big sex book) like this but the execution of all this just didn't work....Too much going on way too soon. After that I had trouble getting into the story cause I was already put off from the beginning.

Fabulous! Shantaye Brown's "Zel", draws you and makes you feel as though you are experiencing everything right along with the characters.

Asher is a cocky jock who is used to getting whatever and whomever he wants.... that is until he meets sassy sexy Zel. Zelina doesn't have the time or patience for an over privalaged college boy no matter how much her body reacts to him. From the start of this match fire sizzles along the edges. No matter the pain ( in more ways then one!) or restraint they are drawn to each other. Zel's one tough chick who is used to always being in control, but Asher gets under her skin and no matter how hard she tries she can't shut it down. This book has it all, sexy main characters, piercings, tatoos, guns, knives, jam packed action and some hot sexy moments! This is the kind of story that makes it impossible for you to put down the book until the end, and then makes you crave more! I cannot wait to see where book 2 brings us! 5 stars Ms. Brown! Love the way your mind thinks!

OK I'm not real good with words so bare with me here! Zel is not your typical love story that's forsure but it will knock your socks off and who knows what's to come in the next book! It was like I thought I knew the road the book was heading down then around the next corner I was in unknown territory which kept my pages turning for hours! Zel is definitely badass and I have a feeling we're going to get to see some of her emotions in the next book!! And Asher dudes fucking hot like seriously fucking hot I would say more about that but I don't wanna give anything away ;) It's a cliffhanger but not one of those cliffhangers that legit piss you off, Shantaye gave me just enough for my mind to be ok with what was going on but yet had me thinking about pulling out my fucking hair because I wanted to know more! needles to say this book was amazing and I'm so ready for some more!! It's a must read so go one click it!!!

I was given a copy of this book for a honest reveiw.Zel (Deviants and Saints#1) is the story of Asher and Zelinda. Asher is a college student who is the college track star and all around lover. His obsession with Zelinda who goes by the name of Zel has gotten Asher him into a situation he never thought was possible. Zel is a young lady that drives Asher crazy but he has no clue who she really is and what she is capable of doing. The two have a relationship that is a love hate and the sexual tension between the two is written in such away that as I was reading their interaction I was fidgeting and a little hot myself. Both have secrets. Reading this story was like following the bread crumbs and at the end was a moment when your mouth falls open and you say “Oh Sh*t. I am really looking forward to the next installment to see where the author is going to take this story. So many secrets and questions! I give Zel 4stars.

I really enjoyed this new and first book Zel (Deviants and Saints #1) by Shantaye Brown. This was a different kind of book for me in that Zel is a very strong dominant person. I usually read books that women are more submissive and you could never say that about Zel! I will let you read your own synopsis because I feel, I shouldn’t have to repeat what the author has written.

Let me say that Shantaye hit it right when she said that “she's the bad-guy you'll probably love and hate” and that is exactly how I felt. There were some twists and turns in this story there was a lot of HOT sex, oh my! Oh and wow to the ending of this book! Get ready for the next book in Deviants and Saints series because I am!

Congratulations on your first published book Shantaye!

This ARC was received for an honest review.

Holy fucking hell!! Zel is HOT! I can not believe this is Shantaye's first book, it was written so well. Now, let me say, it took some getting use too with the Jamaican dialect, but once you understand Zel, it works. I want Zel, I want to be Zel, Zel is my hero. Okay, I may be going over board here, but still, she is a bad ass woman! You don't want to piss her off. Then comes Asher, who is a spoiled rich kid who sticks his cock in anything that walks and has tits. He is obsessed with Zel, and well, he finds out later on, he should have left well enough along. This book I could not put down, and I'm a little ticked at the way it ended, but no worries, book 2 will be coming soon. If you like hot, twisted, sexy reads, then Zel (Deviants & Saints) is the book for you!

I am looking forward to reading more of Shantaye Brown's work!

Wow. This book had me from the word go. It was very easy to get into, and kept your attention throughout. And the sex scenes? **fans myself**

Zelina is a sexy assassin from Jamaica. She works for herself, and lets no one close.

Asher, a college student and track star, is obsessed with Zelina, and followers her home one night.

That’s where things start to get interesting (I will not give any story away, as you will need to check it out for yourself), but most of what happens, you don’t see coming. And most of the times, the author falls flat. Not this time. For a debut author, I think Zel a wonderful book with lots of action and enough heat to keep your bed occupied trying to burn off the tension.

And that ending…. WTF was that? If I do not get the second book soon I may end up camped outside your house like a psycho stalker. Good job, Shantaye! ~ Devlynn, 4.5 stars
