Things are getting complicated in the post-apocalypse.
Mason survived the Devourer's lair, got a prestige class, then he and the other players fought off a murderous wave of orc raiders.
But now his brother Blake is trapped in a deadly game in the orc's fortress, and for the first time in his life, Mason can't save him. Instead the reluctant survivalist is left to manage Nassau, a growing group of civilians and players, and the increasing threats of 'phase 2'.
Not to mention three very different women. And some overly eager nymphs. But then Mason has had worse problems...

Things gelled better in this book. The two PoV are still there, but the secondary (Blake) seems more consequential and was more interesting than it was previously. I still consider this story to mostly be about Mason; it's a personal preference, but I like one MC in a story. The reason this book gets a 5 and the others 4s is due to plot progression and me accepting that this story will be bifurcated.
At this point, this should be two separate books, so I'm a bit concerned about where it goes from here.
This installment wasn't my favorite arc, but felt more like it was the middle of a book rather than a whole book itself. I guess maybe there's a business reason for releasing shorter books, but then you get one like this that feels out of place in a bigger story. I'd rather have inconsistent lengths that match up to story arcs, rather than all short books revolving around new sexual conquests. Just my opinion.
If you like the previous books in the series, you're going to enjoy this one. There's great amounts of character development, good power growth of their magic powers and abilities a great adventure overall. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series I apologize for any spelling errors. I'm writing this with you with voice to text
