"Fairy Tale Road" by Christina Farley was a very interesting read. I liked how it had three different endings, and you could choose which one you wanted for Scarlett. I read the book straight through, and at the end, I was happy with the way Christina ended each story. This was a very unique idea to writing a story and definitely the first time I have ever read this type of book. I was a little shocked at first because I didn't understand what was going on, and then when I figured it out, I was all for it. I really enjoyed Scarlett and how she wasn't afraid to stand up for the things that were going on around her.

As these are meant to be reviews for books I would expect most people to consider 100% clean, I must start this review with the content. This book is definitely not clean. There are passionate make out scenes (in both the Wolf and Movie Star paths) that at minimum involve tongue and moving hands. I skipped those scenes so I can’t say just how far they go, but I got enough of an idea that the characters do sleep together and they’re not only not married but not in a committed relationship. They barely even know each other and aren’t even sure what the status of their relationship is at that point, so it’s entirely focused on their physical attraction and lustfulness. The main character spends at least one night with a man on each of two paths; and her sister, within just one week, slept with the man who subsequently broke her heart. There’s a lot of describing men’s muscles and such; the worst instance is one where a man’s bare torso is described in detail and the main character, who slept in the same bed with him the night before, worries that the rest of him is undressed under the covers. There are a lot of instances of the main character getting “hot and bothered” in reaction to two of the men. There’s an instance where she notices her dress is meant to accentuate the breasts and thinks to herself that they look good; a man’s eye catches on them. There’s a trigger warning in one chapter about a minor male character, who is clearly marked as a creep, making “inappropriate advances” towards a woman including trying to grope her. (That character is dealt with with the fullest severity.)

There is also plenty of vulgar language (as accurate a count of instances as possible):
20 da*n
16 variations of a** (including German version)
10 c**p
4 varations s**t
3 he**
1 p**s
1 d**k

I generously received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Genre: Romcom, choose-your-own adventure
Tropes: Love triangle, revenge, “evil” twin, second-chance romance, fake engagement
Setting: A tour in Germany, Fiji, Florida
Writing style: 1st person, present tense
Tone: Mostly light. There is interpersonal conflict.

*Technical note: When it comes to a choice, you are told to go to a certain chapter instead of a page. I know it’s a challenge with choose-your-own-adventure books that have print and ebook versions, but in the print book you have to skip around to find the right chapter. I would have pointed to page numbers in the print book or written a table of contents for readers to find the chapters faster.

Thoughts on main characters:
• Scarlett is fiercely protective of her younger sister, Bella. She has a pretty strong conscience in most ways, though she does lose her resolve in the romantic department easily. I strongly relate to her overthinking and overanalyzing.
• Rob and Jaxon are both kind, caring, and very attentive to Scarlett. They have qualities that would make them good boyfriends and husbands.
• Jaxon’s relationship with his twin brother, Karl, is nuanced and distinctive. Jaxon exhibits an ability to have a close relationship with him without justifying or turning a blind eye to his abhorant behavior. Jaxon seems to understand that real love holds people accountable for their actions and lets them face the necessary consequences.
• Lilac is sweet, vivacious, and easy-going. She is a real friend who takes joy in seeing Scarlett succeed. She seems like she could make friends with anyone.
• Hunter clearly has a lot to work on relationship-wise, but he is a dedicated boyfriend who takes Scarlett’s rebukes to heart and has the humility to take concrete steps to improve his part of the relationship without pinning any blame on Scarlett.

3 paths:
• I prefered the Hunter and Wolf ones. What I appreciated about the Hunter path was first that it was the cleanest one. I am happy there was a second-chance option. Because it’s clear from the scene with Hunter before Scarlett leaves to Germany that he really takes everything she says during the break-up call to heart, and that he really does care and wants to fix all the mistakes he made in the time they were together. His actions show his commitment to their relationship, and it would have been disappointing if he were treated as if his actions were manipulative. The one issue with that path is The Wolf path is longer, so it was more eventful than the Hunter path. I like that we get to see more of the tour, since the other paths leave the tour sooner.
• There are a couple aspects of the Movie Star path that made it the least appealig. The main one is Rob’s ex-girlfriend, Tiana. She’s a nasty piece of work, and it bothered me that Rob is forced to act romantically with her after what she did to him. I’m also not into fake engagements; they tend to make me uncomfortable on principle because of the potential for inappropriate situations.
• I wish there was more substance in Scarlett’s relationship on the Wolf and Movie Star paths. I think there was somewhat more development on the Wolf path, but I would have eschewed the “love” scenes for a deeper exploration of real person-to-person connection.

I love choose-your-own adventure books, and the idea of a choose-your-own-fairy tale-ending was an intriguing spin. I thought there was one correct ending, and even though there technically is one because the couple will be in the next book, which will follow Scarlett’s sister, Bella, each path leads to its own happy “end.”

The point where Scarlett has to officially choose between the three options only works in one direction, depending on whether you’ve been following the Wolf path or the Movie Star path. Each of those choices claims that she and he have a connection worth exploring, but if you haven’t been on that path, the story hasn’t shown that connection. There are also points where, if you’ve been on a certain path, the next chapter you’re meant to read skips over scenes, so the book needed a few extra chapters to fill out the narrative.

____________________________________

“But who am I to complain, right? I’m famous and rich, all is good in the world.”

Rob’s comment addresses a prevalent attitude based in a lack of compassion and a shallow view of the world. Of course there are privileges that come with such things, services such people can afford when they need them that others either can’t afford or have to give up more to be able to access. But neither fame nor wealth is a cure-all; in fact, fame in particular comes with its own set of challenges that people without it don’t have. No amount of physical or material advantage can shield anyone from hardship, suffering, pain, abuse, etc. Everyone is human first and last.

“Now that I know you’re a professional liar... your acting skills don’t fool me.”

Acting in a film or on TV or stage isn’t lying. Lying is purposely trying to deceive someone. An actor isn’t actually trying to convince anyone that he is what he’s pretending to be. He’s only trying to be believable in the context of the story. The only truth to this is that a good actor can use his skills in the real world to deceive others. Ironcially, the title “professional liar” would actually apply to Rob’s actress ex-girlfriend.

“I’m shocked[...]I always thought she was so refined. I never thought she’d stoop so low.”

This about Tiana, who is clearly anything but. All her behavior past and present shows her to be a liar and a manipulator. How much lower could she get?

Favorite Quotations:
• So what if he might be poster-worthy with those piercing blue eyes and chiseled features? I hate him already.
• “He lures you in with his Prince Charming ways and bam! He becomes this horrid beast who rips out your heart and swallows it whole.”
• “But recently I decided I needed a break from life. So I called up my oldest and most trusted friend. Said let’s hang out for a bit.” He throws an arm around Axel, who beams like he’s a kid whose parents just told him he was going to Disney World.
• How ironic that I had been accusing Jaxon of faking his personality but really it was Rob pretending to be someone else.
• “I’m fine,” Rob says. “But I don’t know about Scarlett. She looks like she’s seeing more stars than just me.”
• Lilac soaks up his smile like he’s the sun and she’s a flower.
• As I slowly open the door, my stomach churns, a washing machine on full spin.

Thank you so much to @christinalfarley & @rrbooktours for my #gifted ARC of 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒚 𝑻𝒂𝒍𝒆 𝑹𝒐𝒂𝒅! This review is comprised entirely of my own thoughts & opinions, & is based on the copy I received.

OMG this book was SO much fun! I loved the concept so much! I loved the premise of this book and that the reader got to choose the path that the FMC, Scarlett, went down. I’ve never done anything like that in a book so it was just the coolest thing to me 🤣 and such a cool way to keep a reader engaged and immersed in a story!

In the beginning, Scarlett goes to Germany to get revenge on a man who has broken her sister’s heart - but then she’s faced with three very different MMCs! I loved that all the MMCs were unique in their own way - we have one who is on the morally grey side, one is more of a cinnamon roll, and then one who is famous. So the story could go so many ways with whatever path you end up picking for Scarlett!

I thought this was a really well written book and I was really impressed with how well written it was! It was fun and had the perfect amount of romance and it was just so different from anything I’ve ever read🥰🩷

“Good, because that’s his MO. He lures you in with his Prince Charming ways and bam! He becomes this horrid beast who rips out your heart and swallows it whole.”

Scarlett Walker, a 28-year-old marketing whiz from Florida, has her “perfect” relationship with career-focused boyfriend Hunter blow up in front of a live audience at a major conference. Right after the awkward breakup, she wins a raffle with three very different prize options: a stay at Hunter’s Homes (awkward), a trip with Fairytale Tours, and a behind-the-scenes pass to Cinematic Studios. Scarlett is super driven, especially compared to her easygoing sister Bella—their bond adds a sweet touch to the story. One path takes her back to a rundown beach house where Hunter tries to win her back, while another throws her into the cheesy but charming world of Fairytale Tours with Mr. Wolfe and his tagline, “Live Your Happily Ever After.” Looking for a distraction—and maybe a little revenge—Scar heads to Germany to confront the tour guide who broke Bella’s heart. Instead of sticking to her plan, she ends up caught between three romances and three very different futures. Each choice leads her down a new path, forcing her to figure out what she really wants—and whether happily ever after is something you chase or choose.

Options A and B in most chapters were the absolute cutest! I really enjoyed the choose-your-path style—it puts you in control of Scarlett’s journey, and every decision takes her somewhere new. Halfway through, I wasn’t sure if I was reading a romcom, a fairytale, a story about sisters—or all three—and that mix made it even more fun. It’s light, clever, and full of charm—perfect for anyone looking for a romantic read with a unique twist!

A big thanks to Christina Farley for providing me with a digital ARC of this book!

Released 05/16/25 on Amazon, KU, and paperback.

“Grams, tell me this dude isn’t beastly.”

OMG, this was so much fun! This is a choose your own adventure/HEA romantic comedy with fantasy elements type of read. Meaning you get to choose which path the FMC goes down. Each choice leads her (you) down a new path, a new mate, or a new happily ever after. This story features all the best tropes like enemies to lovers and slow burn romance, magic and contemporary fairytale retelling, world traveling and second chance romance, fate dating and celebrity romance.

This story follows Scarlett, a 28 year-old career driven woman who after a very public breakup with her boyfriend Hunter at a major marketing conference, wins a raffle which includes a romantic stay in a Beach Home, a trip with Fairytale Tours, and a behind the scenes pass to Cinematic Studios. Each path takes her down a different romance. If she chooses the Beach Home, her ex-boyfriend Hunter will fight to win her back. If she takes the tour to Germany with Fairytale Tours, she will be whisked off to enjoy the sites with Mr. Wolfe. And if she takes the Cinematic Studios option, she will be confronted with celebrities and all that comes with it. Which would you choose??

What a great way to keep the reader engaged! I have been a fan of Christina Farley for some time and when the opportunity presented itself for this new and exciting way to read a contemporary fantasy romance, I was all too eager, and it most definitely paid off!!! On top of this being a great read plot wise, I was all in the nostalgia because I used to love choose-your-own-adventure books when I was younger. To top it off, the author created a really unique map that shows you all the stops that the story may take on the journey. You will find yourself reading and re-reading this story over and over just to see all the different paths!!!

Fairy Tale Road by Christina Farley is pure magic! I absolutely loved this book—it’s fun, creative, sweet, and delightfully romantic. It’s the perfect form of escapism, allowing you to choose your own path through whimsical fairytale adventures, each ending in its own HEA. I chose the Wolf’s path and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! I’m already looking forward to going back and exploring the other storylines just to see how the rest unfold.

This book is also perfect for book clubs—there’s even a thoughtful questionnaire at the end to spark discussion. I 100% recommend this one, especially to fans of interactive storytelling and fairytale retellings. I can’t wait for book two to see how Bella, Scarlett’s sister, finds her happily ever after. And bonus—it's a Beauty and the Beast retelling, which just happens to be my favorite!

This was fun and different and not something I’ve ever seen done before. At the end of some of the chapters you can pick what choices the FMC makes, including which guys she decides to pursue. There are three different men and lots of different ways to create the story. I especially enjoyed the Wolf path.

I personally read it straight through because I wanted to know every story. Doing it that way almost gave off the vibe that magic was causing her to relive the day and see what her different decisions would have resulted in. That’s not exactly what the author had in mind I think here but if it had it would have really made it for me.

Like I said previously I really enjoyed the Wolf path. The chemistry between the two was sizzling. I think the flow through that path was a little more consistent than the others as well.

The Movie Star path was really fun. I think I would have liked it just fine if I had read it on it’s own but since I already read and fell for the Wolf it was hard to like him equally. Personal problems … I can’t help it.

The Hunter path was my least favorite. The bulk of the story was in the other two paths so if read alone it felt a little like a short novella that was missing a few chapters. Since I read them all together I can enjoy his story for what it was but I do feel like all the characters were better understood after reading everything.

Read if you like:
-Strong protective FMC
-Magical realism
-Germany setting
-Grimm Brother fairy tales
-Second Chances (The Hunter)
-Gruff stoic MMC (The Wolf)
-Million dollar smile (Movie Star)
-Ultimatums

Such a cute book!

The whole concept of this book was so interesting and well put together. Scarlett goes to Germany to get revenge on a tour guide that breaks her sister’s heart, but while she’s there she’s faced with 3 romantic interests and 3 paths to take that will determine the direction her life goes.

As the reader, you get the chance to choose which path she takes based on decisions you want her to make. You can jump between chapters to see where each path would take her or you can read straight through to see where each path would go.

A very fun book to read with an interesting storyline and the perfect amount of closed door romance.

For future books like this it would be cool if there was only 1 true right path that the reader has to figure out themselves and if they choose the wrong one then they would be met with a disappointing ending. Just a fun idea:)

Thank you to the author for allowing me this ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

Who doesn't love a good fairytale romance? But it's so much more than that. It's an interactive novel, where you get to choose which fairytale ending you want. Of the three possibilities, Hunter Path is my favorite. Something is amazing about second chances, perhaps because it's more relatable. Who doesn't make mistakes in love? The point is to learn and grow closer.

Of course, there's no reason why you can't read and enjoy all three paths. It's a fun read and I thoroughly enjoyed it--a wonderful story with engaging characters and vivid settings. If you love romance, this book is perfect for you. You will get three tropes in one book: second chance romance, enemies-to-lovers story, and a celebrity romance. What more can a reader ask for? And the best part is that it comes in a fairy tale packaging. Even better. I highly recommend it to all readers.

Thank you, Christina Farley, for this amazing read!!

What a great idea for a book! Scarlett is a successful marketing executive who has breaks up with her boyfriend when he misses too many important events. Now that she is longer hampered by this relationship, she is able to go to Germany to wreak havoc on the fairy tale tour guide who broke her sister’s heart. When she gets there, she finds out that her tour is not being led by that guide but by his twin brother. On the tour she meets two possible love interests – tour guide Jaxon and actor Rob. Adding to the number of suitors is former boyfriend Hunter who promises he has changed and wants her back. At various points in the story the reader is directed to different chapters depending on how they want to story to or which love interest they are pulling for. I found it too hard to choose so I read all of the scenarios. Each one was a great romance all on its own. I highly recommend this fun romance. I cannot wait to read sister Bella’s journey.

One Real Way

I initially thought this was why choose but when I realized it was choose your own I was more excited. I wanted to love this but it just wasn’t consistent enough for me. I initially wanted Hunter because honestly it didn’t seem like too hard of a fix especially after hearing him out but it felt like there was no point to those chapters as I kept reading. Then when you get to the end of his path the timeline gets weird. He was in America in one chapter and all of a sudden he was in Germany, heading back home with her. Stuff like that really pulls me out of the story.
This happens with Wolfe a lot too. I purposely skipped his chapters yet things didn’t really align unless I read them. If you go with the flow and just enjoy the option to choose your own storyline, you’ll have fun. The writing is quick and easy as well.

Fairy Tale Road is an interactive romcom where readers can choose their own adventure and it was such a fun experience!

Christina has created something I’ve never read before where you get to choose what the character does next and which path they go on and which love interest they could end up with!

You can help Scarlett choose the morally grey hero, the supportive sweetheart or dive into the world of glamour with a movie star. 🤩

I did receive this ARC as an ebook but I also preordered the hard copy from @thenewromanticsbooks
during indie bookstore week! 🫶🏻

This was such an adorable romantic comedy to read! Scarlett flies to Germany to join the Fairy Tale Tours to get close to Mr. Wolf, who broke her sister's heart. I absolutely loved the idea of picking Scarlett's Fairy Tale Path throughout the story, whether it was for sabotage or love, this was a great choose your path story! You have 3 paths to choose from for Scarlett's happily ever after as she travels with the tour seeing beautiful German landmarks and exlporing their history. I cannot wait until book 2 releases to continue this magical story! Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy to review

This was the first book I’ve read that allowed the reader to choose which direction the MC should go.

At first, I read all the options then about 39% in at the start of chapter 25, I decided to pick a path, which took me back to the end of chapter 21 to choose Hunter’s path. As per the instructions, I skipped ahead to chapter 48. Unfortunately, it feels like I missed a chunk of the story as the two chapters didn’t line up for me. I ended up skimming the rest of the story.

It was a cute idea, but it just wasn’t for me. Rounded up to 3 stars.

I appreciated receiving this book in a Goodreads giveaway.

It has been a minute since I have read a book where you can "choose the story," and I don't think I have ever done a romance one, but this one did not disappoint. I have been living for all the fairytale retellings and while this might not be a retelling per say, it tie in lots of parts of the Brothers Grimm.
I followed the wolf path, and didn't deviate from that during my read. I loved how it wrapped up, but did want a little more to the story because I wanted more for the couple, ugh I hate when romance ends, give love more time to love! I can't wait for Bella's story, and I may even go back for another path!

choose your own adventure

This book intrigued me being as I loved the choose your own adventure books when I was younger. Hanging out with Scarlett as she chose her happily every after three times over was great. I loved the Rob and Jaxon story lines, but to me Hunter just fell flat. I couldn’t see why an intelligent woman would go back to someone like him. It was very anti climactic. However since this was 3 stories in one and I loved the other two… I recommend you give it a shot and see which one you think is the best fit for the fierce and sassy Scarlett. (I think my favorite was Rob, but Jaxon was a very close second.)

A cute Hallmark movie in book form. I am not a romance reader, so the tropes and main character got tiresome for me (girl, just have a conversation). However, I enjoyed the setting and CYOA take. I kept changing which guy I liked, which meant I didn't stick to a path, and that made the plot flow awkwardly, but that was user error and had nothing to do with the book. I think romance readers would enjoy this one. My advice is to pick a guy from the start and stay with him so you get a fully fleshed-out tale. I'm pretty sure that this is the author's intention. I did end up reading all the endings and liked them all!

Scarlett is a career driven women who ends up breaking up with her boyfriend in front of an entire conference that she’s keynote speaker for. She manages to turn it around and winds up winning a gift basket that ends up changing her life. This book is a choose your own adventure and it was so hard to choose which path to follow. Three guys, three different outcomes i loved it!! it was refreshing to read and get to choose which way to go and at any time you could switch it up. Very nostalgic and i can’t wait to read the next book!

This was such a fun story and kept me interested!
The interactive reading gave nostalgic vibes because I use to read Choose Your Own Adventure Books!

I enjoyed how the author developed each character. In begining I knew I did not want Scarlett to choose the Hunter path therefore I kept choosing between Jaxon and Rob.Yet when I got to "Three Man,Three Choices" I wanted to go to Wolf Path officially. There is even a little twist towards to end.

Super cute rom-com. Never read a story structured like this for an adult. I like You Choose adventures. Being a Florida girl, I like how it started here. To choose a different guy each time had me changing my ideas of each guy. I started reading it straight through which was easily done the way each chapter was laid out.
Received an ARC that came with a book mark which helped with keeping track of the different adventures along the tour of Germany.

I haven’t read a book like this since I was young. I live that you can choose which option you want the book to go in.
This book was such a quick read and there are a number of ways in which it can go.
Romcom mixed with a fairytale mixed with a story about sisters and you choose which path she takes.
This is a cute, light read and perfect if you love your romance books but want a bit of a twist.

A Whimsical, Heartfelt Delight!

If you loved Choose Your Own Adventure books as a child, or if you ever enjoyed a story but wished the ending was different, you will love Fairy Tale Road by Christina Farley. I’m a sucker for fairy tale reimaginings, and this book was perfect. Fairy Tale Road is a sweet, smart, and utterly delightful read that invites the reader to explore different narrative paths and outcomes, making the reading experience incredibly fun and interactive.

Fairy Tale Road has been a perfect summer read! It has just the right pull of romance and pacing of conflict to keep the reader engaged. I recommend reading all the plot choice options because they are all equally compelling. I really appreciated the cleverness of the characters’ names, and the detailed attention to the setting transported me to Germany. Christina Farley can spin, not just one fairy tale, but multiple tales in one captivating story.

This was a fun, easy read. Choosing a path wasn't always child's play, so maybe this type of book isn't really for me.

Also, I feel that in choosing Hunter's path, you miss a chunk of the story you're unable to recover because you skip over more than 20 chapters, literally half the book.

Overall, it was a fun retelling and I found it engaging. I would recommend it if you're looking for a cute summer read.

I received this book as a GoodReads Giveaway.

It took me a long time to read this book. I found it entertaining to be able to take multiple paths with different male characters. I found that depending on my mood that is is which route I took. Although I read the story multiple times to read all the possible endings. So fun!

I got hooked in by the choose your own adventure vibe but the book just fell flat. the characters were bland and didn't make sense. The story didn't flow when you followed certain paths and I just couldn't get into it.

This was a fun choose your adventure. I loved these as a kid and enjoyed going back there with a romance. I read it through the movie star path but look forward to checking at least the Wolf Path.

First, I absolutely LOVE that I get to choose which guy, which "path", the main character goes on as I am one who HATES when they get with the wrong, in my opinion guy! The characters were relatable and believable. I did get confused at one point after I went back to read a different path, but that's on me and my memory.

The locations were perfectly described. i felt like I was there in the Fairy Tale Road in Germany, and I definitely want to travel there for real! I even looked up some of the locations to help with visualization.

I was never bored and wanting it to end. It was fast action from the beginning which I have come to expect from Farley. Each path was believable and I read 2 of the 3 options.

Thank you, Mrs. Farley, for the journey!
