Even his tattoos said he was trash, but the hot carnie’s flashing blue eyes promised I’d forget my troubles in his arms. With my name in all the papers and reporters camped on my front lawn, I needed the one-week distraction. I wasn’t looking for love, much less redemption, but this bad boy’s game was rigged from the start.

Eden Connor graduated from Converse College with a degree in Psychology so long ago, her sheepskin is chiseled in stone. She’s been a graphic artist, a bridal photographer and an antique restorer. Since the death of her true love, she raised two children to adulthood and now has the time to return to writing. She writes primarily contemporary erotic romances, the odd bit of erotica and an occasional paranormal piece. Most of her writing is set where she lives, in South Carolina, so expect the handsome stranger to come equipped with a slow drawl. Addicted to hazelnut creamer, baseball and cranberry glass, she likes the music of Motown and when not writing about adults behaving badly, she takes a stab at the occasional needlepoint canvas.

Love the depth and the fact that the female character starts in a difficult situation - all by her own doing and finds a way through it. Things resolve a little too conveniently but I enjoyed the high.

And please Ms. Connor, hire a better proofreader. I would have liked this book (and Good Wood) so much more if it didn't have a bunch of typos.

I'm going to confess that the name of this title threw me off. Big time. I thought, TuDawgs? Do I really want to read about a hero named TuDawgs? Thankfully that wasn't the case and I was ultimately pleased with the story. TuDawgs is actually the name of a hot dog stand at a county fair. The owner of the stand is a man named Tee. Tee is the owner of several TuDawgs stands (think two dogs like two hot dogs) which are very successful in their own right. Tee has a niece named Melody or "Niecy", who is the mistress of the Lieutenant Governor. The lieutenant governor has embezzled money from a charity that Niecy works for, has a drug habit, and gives her, his mistress, gifts like an expensive car. The press drags her and her reputation through the mud, painting her as a woman who has sexually bewitched and lured a married man into an affair and convinced him to commit criminal acts. Even when evidence finds that she in not guilty of these crimes she is continually hounded and villified by the press. Niecy's uncle has helped pay for some of her legal fees and gives her a job at one of his TuDawgs stands. With her life in ruins, a mother who believes she is guilty, and a desire to pay her uncle back, Neicy takes the job at the fair. Here she meets a man who is all wrong for her, a fair worker that she simply calls "Carnie." Carnie appears to be a bad boy, he's tattooed and carefree and the attraction between the two is immediate and intense. With each passing day Niecy and Carnie get closer and learn a little more about one another and themselves. This story is about her fling with Carnie, the disappearance of a little boy, and so much more. To go deeply into what happens would be to give too much away, so I'll end this part of my review by saying that things aren't always what they appear.

At first, I wasn't certain that I would like Niecy, but her character grew on me. She comes a long way in how she sees herself, and her journey into learning exactly why she has made certain choices was well written. Although the relationship between her and Carnie (who is so sexy in a carefree and wild sort of way) happens a little quickly, I wasn't bothered by it. In fact, quite a bit happens over a relatively short period of time, but it was so well written it didn't feel rushed or incomplete. Carnie, like I previously stated, was carefree, a bit wild and sexy. His tattoos mark him as a bad boy and "trash," but you quickly figure out that he has a great deal of depth. More than what he wants others to believe. Carnie turns out to be highly romantic and also has secrets that aren't that difficult to figure out, but it's still good reading as they are revealed. Neicy's mother is a trip. This woman has no faith in her child, and I couldn't like her character at any part of the story, even when the reader is meant to forgive her. Uncle Tee is a great fun character and I'll be happy to see him return in future books in the series (yes Ms. Connor, please let there be more!). How about letting him find a little love of his own in the future? I also want to comment on the cover, which was attractive and not a copycat of other current covers. Kudos.

I anxiously await your next book and I'm happy to give TuDawgs a 4 out of 5 rating. I'll definitely be reading more from you in the future.

Slick‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

5 STARS

There is so much I love about this book I don’t know where to begin but I’m going to try because it deserves a great review. First off, Eden Connor had me rolling on the floor laughing just from her author’s notes at the beginning and there were some funny moments in the story as well but this book isn’t a comedy. TuDawgs is the story of a young woman whose life has been torn apart by some misjudgment on her part and despite her degree and her fundraising abilities she finds herself back working for her uncle in one of his hot dog stands because no one wants to touch her. Working the stand at the fair provides her with an outlet to remember her father and then she meets him; a man whose tattoos label him as “Carnie Trash”, a man who intrigues her from the start, and a man who is hiding so many secrets about his life and she has no idea how much he will change her life. The instant attraction, a relationship with a time limit, and two people who both know they have no business getting involved but can’t deny the lust swimming through them makes TuDawgs one hell of an entertaining and sinfully sexy story.
First and foremost I want to address Tulane Anderson who is a secondary character in this story but if it wasn’t for him pestering the hell out of the author we wouldn’t have this book, so a little about Uncle Tee. Uncle Tee owns a string of hot dog stands in South Carolina and he has eight nieces all who haven’t made the best choices with the men they spend time with. Uncle Tee is determined to see his nieces find good men and TuDawgs is the story of “first niece” Melody “Niecy” Alexander.
Being known at the former lieutenant governor’s home wrecker whore wasn’t exactly in Niecy’s life plan but that’s the moniker she’s been saddled with and she can’t deny what is true. She wishes things were different in her life. She wishes her Dad was still alive. She wishes her mother would look at her with something other than contempt. And she wishes the reporters would go hound the man who was guilty of stealing from the charity she raised money for rather than her. She doesn’t think it can get much worse than going back to work at a job she held in high school but that’s before she comes face to face with the girls who bullied her in high school and the guy that trashed her reputation at 14. To top it off she’s caught the eye of a carnival worker and he’s caught her eye as well and although she realizes she shouldn’t get involved she convinces herself since it is just for a week she might as well enjoy the time she has with him.
Sterling Daulton “Carnie” Braselton can’t believe when he lays eyes on Niecy and he certainly can’t deny the overwhelming lust he feels for her. The more time they spend together the more he realizes there is more to Niecy than meets the eye and he likes both the inside and outside of Niecy. But Carnie is hiding a lot of secrets; secrets he knows might not only hurt Niecy but break them apart. His life is complicated and he isn’t sure he has the right to ask her to stand by him as it starts to unravel given everything she’s been through lately.
So much happens in this book and at times I felt like I was watching an episode of Jerry Springer but that’s what made it so fun. It was crazy and brash yet it was also sweet and sexy and I flat out loved the way the relationship built between Carnie and Niecy and they way love hit them both upside the head when they weren’t looking.
I flat out adore author Eden Connor’s writing; she tells the most amazing stories of life, love, and everything in between and TuDawgs is a shining example. I urge you to check out her work because I have no doubt you’ll fall in love with her just like I did.

In TuDawgs we are thrown into the recently imploded world of Melody "Neicy" Anderson. Neicy has recently been outed as the mistress to the disgraced Lieutenant Governor Francis Tattersall. Tattersall is caught stealing funds from a charity Melody works for to fuel his drug habit, and to allegedly lavishly keep Melody, his hot young mistress. After being tightly caught up in the fall out of the scandal and investigation, Melody has moved back home to live with her mother. Melody and her mother have had a strained relationship all along and this new colossal embarrassment has put an even greater strain on their relationship. Although cleared of any criminal charges, Melody is still haunted by the press looking for any new salacious tidbit that she can give. The court of public opinion has judged Melody as being no better than a modern day Jezebel who corrupted an otherwise upstanding civic leader by leading him into adultery and drugs which led to the destruction of both his career and his family.

There is, of course, much more to the story than what is printed in newspapers and reported on the news. Neicy is left to deal with the things that she is guilty of as well as what she's been falsely blamed for. She has to somehow find a way to move on from the shame and embarrassment to herself and her family in a small town where everyone knows each other's business. Neicy has been determined to guard her heart from an early age and she is definitely paying the price. As a start to her new existence post scandal, Neicy is working at TuSDawgs, her uncle's hot dog stand at the county fair. It's at the county fair that Neicy meets "Carnie" and things take off from there.

Carnie is just the bad boy type that Neicy has sworn off. Tattoos, beautiful eyes, and cockiness are not what she needs in her life, but there's an immediate attraction between them she can't ignore. Deciding that having a hot affair with a bad boy carnival worker may not be all that bad since they only had a week before the fair moves on. Neicy decides to throw caution out the window and have a pleasurable not strings attached fling. Little does Neicy know that their connection will prove to be stronger and their history longer than she first suspected. Carnie has secrets and complications of his own that will come to light and threaten the tentative bond that they are quickly forming.

TuDawgs' proved to be a story of redemption, self-forgiveness, and the journey to finding your own meaning of happiness despite bad decisions and missteps we make along the way. Although there are steamy sex scenes in this one they were not the main focus. Neicy's relationship with her mother, her relatives, herself, and even her deceased father are all woven together to make up a large part of the story. Things happens quickly in TuDawgs and the story is left a little open ended but you get a complete and satisfying read. I'll gladly continue on to the next book in this series when it becomes available this Fall.

This story is mystery, suspense, heartache, forgiveness, redemption, and acceptance. I loved the characters and how real they are and no one is perfect. Melody "Niecy" Anderson got caught up in the moment of her job and made some wrong decisions that cost her dearly, being the other woman is never a good thing. The scandal has been extremely hard on her mentally and financially too. Carnie is a wonderful diversion from the last several months, but there is so much mystery still, and fear that when the carnival leaves town, so will her heart. Niecy is the first niece of Tulane Anderson, owner of TuDawgs. Keeping these nieces out of trouble is a full time job. I look forward to seeing what some of the other nieces get themselves into. I received a copy of this story for an honest review. I look forward to the next book on Tulane's nieces. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Once Nicey overcame her past she was able to save a kid work on her relationship with her mom and find true love. The steps she took to become Melody was awesome. Was it because of Carnie and finally finding love she needed that made her happy

Amazing

This book was only my second foray into reading Eden's books. I started with 'Cuda Confessions, and when I was desperate for more I picked this up. This author has an amazing ability to transport you to the South in a way that has you hearing the cicadas and feeling the humidity. You want to hit, scream at, hug and kiss, and then fall in love with every chracter she writes. This book was no exception. I will forever read every book this woman writes, and I'm about to go stalk her entire backlist. Tha I you so much Eden Connor!

An enjoyable book

This is an ok book, nice story, bit of drama to keep it engaging and likeable characters. It just didn’t have that something extra to make it into a really good book and I started to get a bit bored towards the end. Which is a shame because I absolutely loved Gas and Ass and the other ‘Cuda confessions books so I know Eden can write great books. I also wasn’t really a fan of the fat shaming half way through. If a character is a nasty person I’m sure there a better ways of insulting someone without just calling them plus size!

Wanted to hate this book

When I started this book, the first two chapters almost made me throw it out and not even finish it. By the time I got to the end of the fourth chapter, I was intrigued. While it takes a while to get started the story is good once it finally got moving. A nice read once it gets moving. The story ends at 87%, the rest is the first chapters of the second book in the series.

I was not expecting that!!

This book really through me for the a loop! What I thought was going to be a book about a girl wrongly accused trying to make a life for herself quickly turned into girl who found her place in life and the unsuspecting man that was waiting for her. Twists and turns I didn't see coming made this book a blast to read. A very original storyline that everyone should rrad!

Heat and heart

Love Eden Conner. I got hooked on the world of the Hannah family and had to come back for more. Rigged Game has blistering heat and a lot of heart, it's not your typical gooey romance novel with some pg13 thrown in, this book hooks you with the real people, the real life issues and the complexity of our human, imperfect existence. You'll love the characters, the setting and of course the steamy parts

Unexpected fantastic read

After reading the Synopsis of the book, I was skeptical that I would like it. However, this book was fantastic. Just the right amount of drama paired with the right amount of romance. Great job.

This is Melody “Neicy” Anderson’s story.

Melody was the “The Other Woman” in the life of the Lieutenant Governor Francis Tattersall. Does she know he is married? Did Tattersall lie to her about that fact? No! She knew, she went into the relationship with her eyes wide open. Something happened in Melody’s past that caused her to believe that this was all she was good for, being the Other Woman. She was not looking for love, she was content to be the Other Woman. She was not looking for a commitment from this man. She knew he was not going to leave his family for her, her heart was never at risk!

Francis Tattersall, through his dishonesty, exposes Melody as the Other Woman in his life, and now the whole world knows it too. She is tarred with the same brush as he is. Their relationship is on blast in the newspapers, the paparazzi are camped out on her mother’s door step, hoping that she will spill the beans on her relationship with the Lieutenant Governor. Melody loses everything: her reputation, her home, her money, and the respect of her fellow man. Her colleagues and extended family make judgements about her and make her life uncomfortable.

Then she meets Carnie, and there appears to be an instant attraction, and she explores a relationship with him. She is not looking to commit her heart because Carnie is with the Carnival and they travel from one town to the next all year round. She is only expecting to be with him for a week. Carnie takes her mind off the horrible mess she has managed to create of her life. He does not ask her about the scandal and appears to accept her for who she is. They become close and intimate fast. Carnie is not all he seems to be. He too is hiding something from her.

This story has betrayal, kidnapping, human trafficking, judgement, forgiveness, love, lies and misunderstanding as some of the themes in this story.

Melody is on a journey of self-discovery and owing up to her mistakes and shortcomings and finally understanding why she made the choices she did, which brought her to this point in her life.

This was an engrossing read. I have read this author before and I have enjoyed all her stories. I would highly recommend this book as a great read!

This book was recommended by a friend. She's pretty tough and doesn't dole out recs lightly, so I purchased it. She also suggested Ms. Connor's Gas or Ass, which I loved as well!

With that said, considering I've read Ms. Connor's work previously, you should know she doesn't exactly deliver easy peasy storylines tied up in a neat bow. It's what I adore about her writing. The name threw me for a loop. TuDawgs? What the heck is TuDawgs? Well, we soon find out it's the name of a hot dog stand.

Our story follows Melody "Niecy" Anderson. Melody has gotten herself mixed up in some pretty shady business. She was recently investigated by the FBI for embezzling from the charity she works for. She didn't do the embezzling but the guy she was dating did. The married guy she was dating. Yes, this story is M-E-S-S-Y.

The media has painted Melody as a gold digging hobag. Did I mention her married boyfriend is the Lieutenant Governor? SUPER M-E-S-S-Y!

Since Melody can't get a gig after the fiasco despite her previous high paying position and educational background, she goes and works for her uncle at his hot dog stand which is located at the fairgrounds. While serving customers, she meets Carnie aka Brass. Carnie looks like bad news and Melody knows it, but she can't stop her attraction to him.

These two... LOL, they don't do anything half-arsed. Their first meeting is explosive. This is only the beginning folks; there's a lot more included in this story that I'm leaving out, but I was engaged the entire time. This story was a solid four-star read for me, and then Ms. Connor took it up a notch at the 80% mark and turned it into a five-star story with an unforeseeable plot twist. Good job! Recommended if you're looking for an out of the ordinary romance.

Enjoyable

Nieces and Carnie (Melody and Sterling) made my girly parts happy! The fire and passion between the two were enough to steam up my eyeglasses (if I wore them).

I firmly believe people see what they want to see and Niecey's family did that. I hurt for her especially with the way her mom treated her. I admired her strength and was happy she finally heard what her uncle said to her....know your worth.

Awesome story filled with heat, emotions and HEA.

Great story!

To say that Melody's week was starting on a sour note, would be an understatement, but the. She meets some Carnie Trash and that's when. The story gets really spicy. I read this story in a single sitting-just couldn't put it down. This is a great story with solid characters. Loved little April!

This was Niecy's story, and she had quite the story to tell. I felt like I could totally empathize with her and I hate that we live in a society that blames the woman in a cheating relationship. No, you shouldn't encourage it, but it takes two to tango. I loved this story, and I hope that it continues with Tulane's other nieces.

I enjoy your strong female characters!

I didn't give this book a chance under the original name, and I'm glad that did. Honestly I didn't think I'd enjoy it, but I was in for a surprise. We have all had that summer job that we hated to go to. I like that she saved Avery in a unique way.

A well written, merry-go-round of twists and turns that had me turning the pages and staying on the thrill of the ride. Ms. Connor knows how to write 'em and I can't wait for more of TuDawgs! From beginning to end this author's writing captivates. Nicely done!

I always enjoy reading Eden's books and this one was pretty damn good. Niecy's story was one of redemption and finding love in the most un expected person. Carnie was everything a good man should be and them together is even better. Give it a go, you wont be disappointed.
