When I got my first Kindle four(ish) years ago, a brave new world opened up for me. What had been a teeth gnashing lack of new Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance turned into countless new possibilities. I'd exhausted all of the big names in my preferred genres that I was remotely interested in, but I discovered new authors and series I'd never heard of from small and/or indie publishing houses . . . new authors and series as far as the eye could see . . .
A lot of them were terrible. A lot of them were MEH.
But a few of them were bright, shining beacons of hope in the midst of my lackluster reading frenzy.
Elizabeth Hunter was one of the latter, and more importantly, she has withstood my transition from reading-whatever-I-darn-well-please-without-much-thought to reading-critically-for-review (of which there are two . . . maybe three authors).
Whether it's the world of the Elemental Mysteries , or this one in Cambio Springs, I loved it the first time, I'm loving it the second time, and I'm pretty sure I'll love it the third time too.
In the first book, we were introduced to a community of shapeshifters. A couple hundred years ago, seven families looking for a place to settle, a place to escape prejudice, a place to breathe, found that place, and drank from a fresh spring hidden in a cave. It didn't take the settlers long to figure out that there was something different about that spring, and starting with that generation, those families were able to shift into various animals. Cambio Springs became not only their home, but a place where they were safe, a place where they could let their dual natures coexist peacefully, without fear.
Enter modernity.
The safehaven is dying, more and more families are moving away from the springs, b/c there aren't enough jobs . . .
Something has to change, and Alex McCann has a plan. In fact, he's been planning his entire adult life, and he's been so completely focused on finding a way to save his home, to ensure that its residents are protected, that the other areas of life have fallen to the wayside, and other things (or people) have been left in the dust.
Teodora Vasquez is also determined to protect her town. So much that she left her home for more years then she cares to remember to become a doctor. B/c how "safe" is a safe place without a qualified medical professional---in the know---looking after the inhabitants.
And no matter how much Alex and Ted wished otherwise, their paths were mutually exclusive . . . until they weren't . . . *SQUEE*
Desert Bound is the second installment of Cambio Springs, and all I can say is . . . Hunter is a master of continuity.
She weaves subtle, yet intimate details throughout the story, laying a foundation that bridges the gap between character and reader. You feel like you're on the inside of the inside joke---whether it's about hats or pet names, it adds that nebulous something that separates the books that stick with you from the multitudes that . . . don't.
Hunter also casually develops her secondary characters so that despite the HEA of the current story, you're dying for the next chapter. And you don't particularly care who the focus of that chapter is, you just want MORE. It happened in Shifting Dreams, so that I did a little tap dance when I found out that book 2 was Ted and Alex, and it happened again in book 2 . . . so that if we don't find out what's up with the bear and the fox . . . or the snake . . . or the wolfy water witch . . . and SOON, I might just die.<------TRUE story.
And I know that a lot of you aren't big on the prequels and in-between stories like I am, so I only push the issue when I feel very, very strongly about it: you will be missing out BIG time, if you don't read them in this series. They're short, they're cheap, and they are worth it. *pinky promises*
SO. If you haven't checked Elizabeth Hunter out already, you should get on that. Desert Bound is merely the latest in a long line of fabulously entertaining fiction. I loved it so much that I'm in the middle of rereading Elemental Mysteries . . .

Like the previous one, this one also had a lot of potential!
There was some stuff that was pretty "meh", but all in all, a pretty good read. And the writing was a lot better than I expected, so that's a plus.
Worth trying out, especially if you like the friends-to-lovers thingie. I don't really like that plot (probably that's why I didn't give it more than 3.5 stars), but I have high hopes for the next one!

So there's Alex.
Sexy businessman?
Check.
Smartass alpha wolf shifter?
Check.
And there's Ted.
Tough-as-nails doctor?
Check.
Temperamental cat shifter?
Check, check, and CHECK.
Of all the couples in Cambio Springs, there were no two people LESS suited for each other than the future alpha of the McCann wolves and the most ambitious daughter in the cat clan.
But hearts are unpredictable. So are mountain lions. Ted came back to Cambio Springs. Alex didn't.
And then he did.
The question is:
How do you go back?
Do you even try?
What if the one that got away is really THE ONE?
I loved writing Alex and Ted, but they were NOT easy. There were times I wanted to take a hammer to both of their heads during the first draft of DESERT BOUND. But somewhere about halfway through this book, I realized just why they loved each other so much, and how much it had cost them when they lost it.
And then... it was easy. And it was real. And I fell in love with both of them all over again.

So THIS is the book when Marcus Quinn died (and Sean had to go back home) - also earlier information about DiStefanos (which would reappear in Sean's book). Duly noted. Yep, Alex and Ted still amused me the second time around.
I am glad I re-read this because now I remember about
I think I'll move on to Ollie's and Allie's book now

Desert Bound is the follow-up of Shifting Dreams, a paranormal romance set in the small town of Cambio Spring; a town that is full of shifters. This time, the highlight couple is Alex McCann, future Alpha of the werewolves clan and Teodora "Ted" Vasquez, a dominant mountain lion from the cats clan.
Well, I definitely loved this one ... even slightly more than the first book!! Alex and Ted had history between them; Alex broke Ted's heart and she didn't trust him now that Alex said he wouldn't leave Cambio Springs again. They argued a LOT but at the same time, I thought Alex and Ted were a couple that strive best when they do. Both are strong-willed and hard-headed; and both are DOMINANT in their clans. So it would be expected that they butt-head from time to time.
I was quite happy with the progress of Alex and Ted's relationship. Ms. Hunter didn't let the push-and-pull to stay on page for too long. In fact, Alex and Ted reached their agreement -- that they were good as a couple -- about halfway of the book. After that, they were pretty much solid as they dealt with other important things that happened in their town: finding the murderer of Marcus Quinn, the disappearance of Allie's deadbeat husband, as well as the disapproval from both Alex and Ted's parents about their relationship. I thought this gave a GREAT balance to the whole story in overall. Because dragging along the relationship could be boring and frustrating for readers. So I was glad that Ms. Hunter didn't choose that path.
Then of course there were the secondary characters... namely Ollie and Allie. We've already given clues about Ollie's love towards the werefox that have been going on for 15 years. I guess now that Joe decided to walk out on Allie, we could see Ollie finally get his Allie-girl. I seriously couldn't wait for book three (which is unfortunate because it hasn't even been written yet!)

4.5 stars - I really enjoyed this.
I was really happy to return to Cambio Springs, the desert town where many of the residents are some flavor of shape shifter. After reading the prequel short, Five Mornings, and getting a better feel for the history between estranged former lovers wolf-alpha-to-be Alex and mountain lion shifter Ted (Teodora), I was really looking forward to their second chance romance - actually it's Alex's third chance and it takes a lot for Ted to let him have that chance. The pair are still aching from their separation and they have chemistry galore, but where they fell apart was in the communication department - and in that they both had different goals for trying to keep their special community viable and those goals got in the way of their relationship for a time.
I really liked Alex and Ted. They are interesting as a pair not only for the depth of their history together but in they are both alpha personalities and they challenge each other and argue - often ending up in steamy makeup sex. I also liked the way that their animal sides flavored their interactions, especially Ted's cat.
Behind the pair is much of the supporting cast from last time - including past leads Jenna and Caleb, Old Quinn, and friends Ollie and Allie. One of the reasons that Cambio Springs feels like a real place to me is that many of the people there are more than just 'sketches'. And it is great that in a shifter town elements of the characters' other forms affect personalities and behaviors and that there is friction and rivalries between the different shifter clans and within them as well.
In the background of Desert Bound, there is also another murder mystery - and I was very sad about the identity of the victim, he didn't have a bunch of page time before he was killed, but I already liked him. The investigation was decent - though I had kind of a feel for how things were going to end up - and some of the favors traded to gather information add a new interesting set of allies.
So, I loved Alex and Ted's reconciliation. Desert Bound was really enjoyable and solidified my status as a Cambio Springs fan. And now I am looking forward to the next book - the next pairing looks really promising for two characters who deserve a HEA.

May 1, 2017This is the second book in the PNR series. I read this with the short story that proceeded it so I am combining both for my review since it is hard to remember what pieces I got of the story from which book. It's a second chance PNR combined with a little mystery, though the mysteries in this series aren't really so mysterious as adding just a little drama to the plot.
I didn't like this one as well as the first though it wasn't a bad book. That's mostly due to the hero Alex. He's just not the kind of character I usually am drawn to though plenty of other people will like him fine. He's the alpha wolf so he has these annoying testosterone laden alpha tendencies while being whiny and having a martyr complex.
I liked the heroine Theodore or Ted as she is nicknamed. I found her easier to relate to as a female who goes into medicine to take care of her people. She and Alex had a relationship but they broke up when she leaves medical school to go to residency back closer to home. To be honest, it never made sense why Alex was so emo about her leaving for residency near home and then ending things with her. Why not keep a relationship long distance? Instead he whines and feels sorry for himself saying he's not ready to move away from Los Angeles and says she never asked him what his dreams were, putting the responsibility of the break up on her. Why not just date long distance?
But no, Alex then tries to do the typical alphahole move and forces himself to try and get over her by getting with other women. It's referenced like he thought of them as arm candy only, not humans with feelings and wants/dreams. They were used by him as is typical for the pining alphas. Every time Ted tries to move on he shows up long enough to ruin it for her and then charges back home. That's just major slimeball actions in my mind. I couldn't ever really grow to love him even if he was finally ready to go all in with Ted in the present day. But I was glad that Ted was happy, even if I never warmed to the guy, because the girl deserved it. Also, quick note, since I grew to care for the hero of the last book, Caleb, when he and Alex would go head to head I always thought Alex's over the top alpha aggression was annoying. I liked Caleb way more than Alex so I guess that was an inevitable reaction.
At any rate, I'll read the next book because despite my never totally warming to the hero I still enjoyed the book okay. I also like the two characters the next book centers on so I want to read their HEA and get a little more of the last books characters.

November 30, 2015Not sure how far I was into this. It started off pretty strong. Ted (short for Theodora, if I remember right) and Alex were 2gethah-4evah years ago and Alex left. They briefly reunited several years later and Alex left again. So this isn't a second chance story, it's more like a third chance. I'm guessing some ground was covered in the previous book(s?) in this series because when the book opens, it's clear that Alex has been on the prowl (heh... oh, did I mention they're shifters, because that's kind of important) since his return to town and Ted isn't having it.
Then a guy gets murdered and Ted suddenly is falling back into Alex's arms and I realized I wasn't even 30% done. I like some grovel and some angst to my stories and this book indicated that they were going to be together solving the murder for most of the story. I wasn't really in the mood for that kind of story and, antics on a swirly chair or not, Ted and Alex didn't have the charm as a couple to keep me invested for a full book, so I passed.
That said, the writing wasn't too bad and I didn't see a lot of spelling/grammar errors. Other than some weird logic leaps (they got their powers from a mineral spring... because; and the town ME is helping solve a murder... because) I would probably pick this author up again.

The story of Alex and Ted (whose nickname I really don't like), who finally find their way back to each other after many years and a lot of obstacles.
The resort is being built but not without problems, as another murder happens that causes delays. Alex and Ted get involved in Caleb's investigation to find the killer and deal with their relationship problems at the same time.
I'm really enjoying the world of Cambio Springs and I find myself intrigued by the secondary characters who will hopefully have their own stories later on, starting with Allie and Ollie next, according to the epilogue.

This was a great story, the love match for this story of Alex and Ted (it is her nickname) was not an easy one since they seemed to love to fight with each other.
There is a murder to be solved in the midst of all this and as usual it is a great "whodunnit".
This book is all about the characters in Cabio Springs and their interactions and it was great and the setup for the next book is equally enthralling and hope we don't have to wait too long for it.
Bottom Line: It was great, lots I can't say in a review especially since there is a mystery to solve but this is top notch stuff here folks. 5 Stars and highly recommended.

I feel like I need to preface this review by stating that I like Alex and Ted together, but their constant bickering drove me nuts. Yes they had issues, big ones (family and communicating), but did they need to fight over every little thing! It got to the point were I didn't want to read about them as a couple any more.
What did keep my interest was Marcus and his family, the changes in their lives, how a Quinn found his way home and how a Smith left, then there are the changes in the wolf pack structure. While some of these changes were bad, some have longer reaching effects. Either way, things are a changing in Cambio Springs, should make for some interesting reading.

I really do love the town of Cambio Springs...
I really can't live all that far away from it either, maybe I need to take a road trip.... this book was about Alex and Ted, they grew up together, went off to college together, and then went their separate ways.... Ted came home and she is the town doctor... Alex is now back home, trying to win her back, while she is busy trying to protect her heart.... I really enjoy all these characters, I love all the different types of shifters, and the politics involved.... and I truly enjoyed the banter between Ted and Alex.... The mystery in this book was good and I liked how everybody used their skills to help, it is really nice to see a town always pull together for their own....

Ted was burn out and afraid that Alex, her one and only love, will leave Cambio Springs again, and Alex was desperate to prove to the woman he loved that he had no intention to go anywhere. Of course, a murder investigation threw this local doctor/pathologist and the future alpha of Cambio Springs together and sped up their reconciliation.

Each side plot just adds to the growing tension as they must learn to deal with the outside world, as well as their own community when tempers flare and fear and distrust becomes so thick one can almost cut the air.
Lots of story, great plot, strong writing, sounds like a winner to me!

There is absolutely nothing that i do not like about this book. Nothing!
Seriously, Elizabeth Hunter needs to write more books. She is amazing. This book was amazing. The whole old flames reuniting thing can get really old unless its done well. This was done well. I love how there was just enough drama for us to see the thought process behind getting back together because in reality, that's how it would be. But there was no unnecessary angst and holding back how they really feel out of spite, and the whole alpha male thing is just hot.
I love the sense of community here in Cambio Springs and i can't wait to read the next installment. Ollie's and Allie's story is going to be interesting. Write fast, Elizabeth!

Desert Bound by Elizabeth Hunter is the second book in the Cambio Springs paranormal mystery series and was an excellent addition to this series. This is Teadora and Alex's story. Teadora/Ted and Alex were friends, then lovers and then they parted. Ted returned to Cambio Springs but Alex stayed in the "outside" world. He's back to stay and determined to revive his hometown and win back Ted. Murder, shifter clans politics, Las Vegas mob bosses, twists and characters that make you root for them kept me turning the pages. On to the next one in this series.

This was me when I found out I was getting an ARC.
I could not contain my spiny excitedness.
I read the first installment of the Shifting Dreams Cambio Springs Series, when it was first released in March of 2013. I remember being as immediately enraptured by the tale of a small town full of shapeshifters as I was of Elizabeth Hunter's world of vampires (A Hidden Fire) Elemental Mysteries series. In these past months, I have come to realize an ineluctable truth: I will read whatever this woman writes. I have now read her entire catalog, and this realization is as true as the sun rising.
Desert Bound brings us back to the small mesa town where the inhabitants are gifted with the ability to melt their flesh into fur, feathers, or scales at will.
On the heels of a scandal that rocked the town to its core, and with the hustle and upheaval of a community undergoing huge changes and construction--both literally and psychologically--we have Alex and Ted.
Former lovers and Cambio Springs natives, these two shifters find themselves in the liminal space between here and there. Present, and past. Ted, having permanently settled herself in Cambio after school in California with Alex, is dubious about Alex's intentions to stay in Cambio, and not retreat to California, once his business interests are settled in their hometown.
Alex is willing to do just about whatever it takes to prove to Ted he's back for good.
There's a major problem though, not everyone is happy with the ongoing changes in the community, and it seems like someone is once again willing to kill to get what they want.
Ted and Alex are forced to work together to find out who the killer is, and why they did it. It also forces them to think about their own mortality, and what they're willing to risk for their own happily ever after.
This book is such a wonderful departure from the typical tropes in Mystery Romance/Suspense Romance novels, in that, the heroine is not some damsel in distress in grand need of a knight in shining boxer briefs.
Ted is a fully-actualized and wonderfully-flawed character. She doesn't roll over for Alex as soon as he returns, and he doesn't expect her to do that. They have that very real tendency for ex-lovers to be both too comfortable with one another, and completely at-odds with each other.
Watching them (it's a movie in my brain, shut it) reacquaint with their devotion to one another gave me a serious case of the chest-tingles for over 200 or whatever pages. (FELT LIKE 25!! TOO FAST OVER NEED MOAR)
Yes, this book does deal with the fantastical and paranormal. But, honestly, you could take out the feathers and fangs, and introduce an economic or racial element instead, and it would be equally as intriguing. The paranormal aspect of this series is more interesting personality frosting and less "let's get bitey in bed." Which.Is.Perfect.
Ok, apart from one HYSTERICAL bit about catnip, which is truly how I react to red wine on a good night, so....

We meet Ted and Alex and get a sneak peak at their story in Cambio Springs book 1. Desert Bound is their story and second chance at the love they have always wanted. While this is Ted and Alex’s story, we get glimpses of Caleb and Jena and a little peek into what is to come. There continues to be some tension between actual law and pack law that strains Alex and Caleb’s relationship. The love between Ted and Alex was beautiful and I loved when they began to get on the same page. I can’t wait for more in this series!

Desert Bound by Elizabeth Hunter is a 2014 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in the Cambio Springs series, but can be read as a stand alone.
I have not read an Urban Fantasy novel like this one in a good long while. I found myself absorbed in the story right way. Alex and Ted (Teadora) are not your traditional gooey, sentimental type couple and run hot/cold all the way from start to finish and by all accounts will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I couldn't help but like them.
But, this is not just a romance novel. The Cambio Springs community is made up of mostly people who are shifters, from cats like Ted and Wolves like Alex, to bears, snakes and so on. There are some humans who lurk on the fringes but most not.
However, a man is found murdered and although Alex and Ted are not in any way officially in law enforcement they still have ties to the investigation. So, while the case heats up, so does the relationship between Ted and Alex.. and it's one wild emotional roller coaster ride, so fasten your seat belts!!
Alex and Ted have a very long history together and deep down they know they are meant to be together, but now Ted is holding back to keep her heart from being broken again. Alex is going to have to really ratchet it up a notch to convince Ted he is home to stay for good and they are meant to be. Their complicated history is not the only thing standing in their way though. Neither of them have support from their parents and if they were to get back together it could cause trouble within the various group of shifters. It could be a long hard road they travel on but will it be worth it in the end?

We are back in Cambio Springs peeps and this book is just as good as the first one. 4 desert bound stars. You might want to pick up Five Mornings to get a better feel for the two main characters and what they have to deal with in this book.
Cambio Springs is dying or was until Alex McCann came up with the idea for a Resort Spa and Fitness. Alex and Ted left the Springs to help with the future of the town. Ted became a doctor and Alex went into real estate development. They hurt each other and themselves with the choices that they had to make but at the best of times there is always an overall picture to take into consideration.
As Caleb put it come to the Springs it will be quiet they said, there is hardly any crime they said, you’ll have a good time they said. Well that part is true unfortunately there is another murder.
For the sake of the others Ted and Alex try to be friends. Ted is hurt and thinks that Alex will leave again. Deep down she also knew that she never stopped loving Alex.
“You gave me your heart; then you took it away. And you took mine with it." She blinked rapidly."So don't tell me I'm hard. I'm just protecting what's left.”
For Alex there was only ever Ted and he tries to romance her but we’re talking about an Alpha Wolf and a Mountain Lion and they bicker but that is who they are. Both parents are dead set against them mating but hell what do they know. Jack shit.
They realize that they have to move forward and they do.
“We can't go back. I'm not who I was then. You're not who you were. We've grown up. Hopefully. But... You know there's still something there. Something good between us, along with the bad. Something that could be great."

Ms. Hunter once again has done a wonderful job and I loved every moment of it. I did guess a lot of things but I usually don’t know how the author will get us there so I still have fun. The sex scenes were the same but it is pnr and not erotica so maybe I’m just being picky.
I wonder if we will be seeing Cameron Di Stefano again. I do like him.
Cambio Springs is dying or was until Alex McCann came up with the idea for a Resort Spa and Fitness. Alex and Ted left the Springs to help with the future of the town. Ted became a doctor and Alex went into real estate development. They hurt each other and themselves with the choices that they had to make but at the best of times there is always an overall picture to take into consideration.
As Caleb put it come to the Springs it will be quiet they said, there is hardly any crime they said, you’ll have a good time they said. Well that part is true unfortunately there is another murder.
For the sake of the others Ted and Alex try to be friends. Ted is hurt and thinks that Alex will leave again. Deep down she also knew that she never stopped loving Alex.
“You gave me your heart; then you took it away. And you took mine with it." She blinked rapidly."So don't tell me I'm hard. I'm just protecting what's left.”
For Alex there was only ever Ted and he tries to romance her but we’re talking about an Alpha Wolf and a Mountain Lion and they bicker but that is who they are. Both parents are dead set against them mating but hell what do they know. Jack shit.
They realize that they have to move forward and they do.
“We can't go back. I'm not who I was then. You're not who you were. We've grown up. Hopefully. But... You know there's still something there. Something good between us, along with the bad. Something that could be great."

Ted has restarted her life back home in Cambio Springs as the town doctor. She has learned to move on the best she can since her and Alex went their separate ways. Only now he is back. And he says for good. But Ted doesn't believe him. She knows from experience he never sticks around. Only time will tell if he truly means it.
This series is one of my all-time favorites. Of course all of Hunter's books are some of my all-time favorites. But this one is all about the shifters. And I must say...Hunter does it right. I've read some shifter books that didn't click with me. But everything about this series clicked right into place. I felt at home surrounded by her characters and her amazing writing. I don’t think I will ever get enough of her imagination.
I absolutely adored the work up to the romance. It was smoldering. It was fresh. It was oh so hot! Alex is doing everything he can to prove to Ted that he loves her and wants to be in her life forever. Only Ted isn’t so gullible these days. She has been hurt by him before and is going to make him prove himself over and over again.
Another awesome factor is we see all our old favorites in this one. Caleb and Jena are not going to sit idly by on the sidelines. Oh no! They play huge roles in this book. Then we get Allie a whole bunch too. And it is perfect because her story is going to be next. So pay attention. You will want to know what all is happening in this dusty little town.
DESERT BOUND immediately captures the reader and pulls them in...refusing to let them go. At least it was that way for me. I actually took my time with this one for fear of it ending. Because when it ends, it ends. You have to wait a while for the next one. And patience is not one of my better qualities. I do recommend you read FIVE MORNINGS before you dive into this one though. It gives you a bit of a back story for Alex and Ted. And just because it is so flippin fabulous!

I enjoy Elizabeth Hunter's writing. Her world building is entertaining and interesting. In Desert Bound she resumes the story where it left off in Shifting Dreams. The story is engaging and filled with mystery and romance.

Every time I pick up an Elizabeth Hunter book I know I'm in for a treat. This one was no exception. I loved the story of Teodora (DON'T call her that!) and Alex. Having read the short story about them, I knew their back story and was rooting for them so much. I was so glad that Ted made it difficult for Alex, but didn't take too long to give in to him. He needed to make amends, but they've already spent too much time apart.
The mystery was a bit obvious. But it wasn't really the whole point of the story. The mystery was just an excuse to tell the story of the relationships and the development of the town.

I was more curious about Ollie and Allie's story to be honest, but I'm glad I read this because there are some important twists you need to know about. Ted and Alex's story was good but I don't prefer when they already know each other by the start of the story and let's just say they KNEW each other well, so anything beyond the point was inevitable and a bit boring.

Loved Ted and Alex!!! Loved the action packed storyline and how everyone respected Alex! Enjoyed the Quinn side of the family, they don't play! Can't wait to read the next book and see what happens for Ollie! He may be tough but wonder if he has a softer side of him.

I knew I would love Desert Bound by Elizabeth Hunter before I started reading it. First, it’s by Elizabeth Hunter and she writes amazing characters that demand feelings, all kinds of feelings. I knew these two characters Alex and Ted, because their story started in the previous book. The Cambio Springs series is paranormal romance with each book featuring the romance of a new couple. This is the second book in the series.
Secondly, Elizabeth’s stories do the romance so well. She did teases about this couple on her website which turned into a novella – Five Mornings. I loved that and fell in love with this couple. It told some of their history over time. I enjoy books, like this one, where the romance is just as important as the rest of the story. It is entangled with the rest of the story. And there is so much to the rest of the story.
This is awesome, like real life, where multiple things are happening, and it isn’t just one focused story. There’s information about the couple from the first book, Caleb and Jena. There are a variety of things happening to the families in town. The elders all have adult children who are now grown, marrying and starting to have their own children. There is murder. There is also a couple who splits up. Some books are like one-dimensional and only have the romance and maybe one other thing. This book is rich, a cornucopia of real life stuff.
Ted is the town doctor. She is strong, smart, caring and hard-working but she doesn’t want to be a town leader. She is busy with caring for their health. Ted has always loved Alex. They lived together in college but then she came home to Cambio Springs and he stayed in California. That broke her heart and now she doesn’t believe he is home to stay.
Alex knew he had to let Ted go, to do her residency. And also to earn the money he needed to stabilize his career and the town’s future, he needed to stay in California. But now he’s moved home and is determined to be with Ted. He always knew he would come home to her but their families are against it.
The death of one of their peer group gets Alex and Ted working together. Ted is also the local coroner and she tries to keep the peace between the alpha hotheads. Caleb is the local sheriff and her best friend’s husband. Alex is her guy and a leader in the community. Working together means they are spending time together which can only go one way. YES!
The romance is only one aspect of this story. There is so much more. But since Alex and Ted have grown up together, lived together before, the relationship is more developed. They don’t have the chase, or as much of the humorous banter that happened with Caleb and Jena. This is a relationship already in full force, not the beginning. They know each other very well.
The story takes place over 6-8 weeks and has all kinds of fun, fascinating and heart-warming events. I loved the town, the families and the developing relationships of this couple and other people. If you like hot, smart, alpha men and feisty, smart women, where romance is a natural part of life, you will love Desert Bound and the rest of this amazing series. I do!

“Where’s Sean? And whose car is this?”
“It’s either Vito or Guido. Not too sure.”
“Vito?”
Harper got out, holding out the keys to Ted as she shrugged. “Frank’s guys. Someone came and picked them up. Left the car here for me and Sean.”
“Where’s Sean?”
She nodded toward the parking lot. “He shifted to get closer. Went around the back.”
Ted took a deep breath. “Let’s hope none of the SWAT team are phobic about snakes.”
