I’ve done a lot of wishing in my for hunky security guard James to like me back, for that cute skirt to zip all the way up, for my colleague to shut up about her amazing love life already, for my father to show up on my tenth birthday… The list goes on. And on.
But so does the bill that’s just arrived from my own personal fairy godmother.
Sure, my life has been semi-charmed up to this point, but a fairy godmother?
I don’t think so.
There’s only one way to prove this lady’s not wish for James to ditch his date and ask me out instead. Easy peasy. Fairy godmothers are all just a scam.
Except within minutes of making my wish, James breaks his date and asks me out. (swoon, faint, flail)
And yeah, that pricey wish just went on my tab.
Fairy godmother debt. Secret interactions with the magical world. And a new boyfriend who might be under a spell… What’s real? And can true love break the binds of a magical spell? A light romantasy with paranormal twists, and sweet, heartwarming moments. This is also a friends to lovers romantic comedy that gets help from the paranormal magical world of fairy godmothers. And maybe a few ogres in accounting, too, since nobody wants to get fed to one if they default on their bill.

A fun sweet romance with a touch of whimsy. Doesn't everyone want a Fairy Godmother. Char's life is turned upside down when she discovers that she has one, and she finds that life turns out just as it is supposed to be and sometimes things have to go wrong so that their can go right.
Fairy Godmothers Aren't Cheap is a delightful, whimsical, romantic comedy with a mystery! I loved every word in this well written book! What would you do if you suddenly received a $100,000 bill from your fairy godmother? Char goes from not believing to full on tizzy over paying a bill like that. Char has four wonderful gals who are both roommates and friends plus her crush on and friendship with museum security guard James to help her deal with this issue. She becomes embroiled in a mystery when she demonstrates that some of the museum's artifacts are fakes. You will not want to miss any of the fun in this delightful romantasy. I did not want to put it down, but food, sleep and life did have to intrude occasionally!
This is book one in The Fairy Godmother’s and Other Fiasco’s series and it is Char and James story and what a great start to a new series. Char loves going to the museum and ends up making friends with James who is a security guard there and even though she is interested in him in a feelings type of way she feels that there is no way that he would ever feel the same way only she couldn’t be more wrong because it is the total opposite of how he feels about her. The more time that they spend together the stronger their feelings and connection grows and then Char finds out that she has a fairy godmother only she doesn’t believe in it until she ends up with a huge debt to pay with no way out of the situation. When James starts to show a interest in Char she is confused and doesn’t know whether it is real or because of her fairy godmother’s spell so now her life had just become even more complicated, chaotic and has been turned upside down than ever. This is a really beautiful and whimsical story with a paranormal twist while finding out that the true love that you always wanted but didn’t think that you would ever find is actually right in front of you and you just have to believe in yourself and the other person. I read this book in one sitting because it was so addictive along with great characters and a mystery that will have you turning the pages to see what happened next and also what the outcome will be in the end. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
This is a great start to a new series. Char is interested in archaeology, so she goes to the museum quite often. James is a security guard at the museum, and they have become friends. Char thinks he is out of her league, not knowing he is quite interested in her. When Char finds out she has a fairy godmother and a huge debt to repay, her life changes. Does James like her for herself, or is it because of a spell? Read Fairy Godmothers Aren't Cheap to find the answer. The story is well-written, and the characters are likable. You'll be rooting for Char and James to find their HEA. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Char's wishes are granted by fairy godmother in exchange for money. FGMs should change their rules about a payment agreement, because she kinda unknowingly agreed and now is indebted. l think it's wrong, unethical to make a business from wish granting. It's against fairytales. Char and James are interesting, cute friends who are crushing on each other. Will Char's most sacred wish come true without any magical help? You must be careful what you wish for because you don't know who and for what price will make it come true ( writing from experience).

What happens when you discover you have a fairy godmother…your world is turned upside down, then side ways but eventually it turns right side up. You don’t want to miss Char and James story…friends to lovers, some paranormal twists and finding true love.

What a delightful modern fairy tale that's not intended for children! At last we "more mature" adults can have belief that fairytales can come true... My goodness what an exciting whirlwind of mystery, fun, romance, and happily every after. The plot, the characters, the frustrations, the creativity, the joy, and love made each page better than the perfectly marvelous page before it. Guess what else??? A second book is coming to continue this delightful series!
Book one of this light romantasy series and it is fantastic! Char finds herself with a modern day fairy godmother and has her world turned upside down as she discovers magic is real and every wish comes with a price. It’s a wonderful read that has you snuggled down and glued to the pages, laughing out loud in places and swooning in others. Love these characters and thoroughly enjoyed their adventures to find true love!
loved it !! a great start for this new series !!! so funny !!! love Char and James... this is their love story... a fun fast paced rom/com drama... are fairy godmothers real ? or are they a scam ? well, Char just got a huge invoice for all the wishes she's made over the years... so, one more can't hurt ? right ? but, the wish and James , the security guard at the museum... well... this is so good !!!.

A great beginning to a new series. I do enjoyed getting to know the characters and this first book. Char and James gave an instant connection but she doesn't think he even notices her. She's prone to wishing for things and when she finds out what these wishes cost everything changes. I so enjoyed watching things develop with these two. A really great read.
Fun beginning of the Fairy Godmothers Aren't Cheap series by Jean Oram. This is a whimsical story of wishes and fairy Godmothers and how wishes can cause chaos in our lives. Be careful what you wish for it might cost you more than you know. *I received this as an ARC reader and am leaving my unbiased review.
Fairy Godmothers Aren’t Cheap is written by Jean Oram. It’s a fun and flirty fantasy filled with whimsy and magic. Who hasn’t wished for a Fairy Godmother? Well Char has been wishing for a long time and now it’s time to pay for all of her dreams to the tune of $100,000! I enjoyed reading about Char and her friends and James, the man of her wishes! Will definitely read this one again!
How fun to read a contemporary romance with Fairy Godmothers. Char is a very stressed, intense main character yet you root for her incredible heart. Surrounded by great friends, Char faces mounting problems with a large debt looming over her. This book is a fun beach read.
