Scandalous Seasons #4

Always a Rogue, Forever Her Love

Rate this book
Miss Juliet Marshville is spitting mad. With one guardian missing, and the other singularly uninterested in her fate, she is at the mercy of her wastrel brother who loses her beloved childhood home to a man known as Sin. Determined to reclaim control of Rosecliff Cottage and her own fate, Juliet arranges a meeting with the notorious rogue and demands the return of her property. Jonathan Tidemore, 5th Earl of Sinclair, known to the ton as Sin, is exceptionally lucky in life and at the gaming tables. He has just one problem. Well…four, really. His incorrigible sisters have driven off yet another governess. This time, however, his mother demands he find an appropriate replacement. When Miss Juliet Marshville boldly demands the return of her precious cottage, he takes advantage of his sudden good fortune and puts an offer to her; turn his sisters into proper English ladies, and he’ll return Rosecliff Cottage to Juliet's possession. Jonathan comes to appreciate Juliet’s spirit, courage, and clever wit, and decides to claim the fiery beauty as his mistress. Juliet, however, will be mistress for no man. Nor could she ever love a man who callously stole her home in a game of cards. As Jonathan begins to see Juliet as more than a spirited beauty to warm his bed, he realizes she could be a lady he could love the rest of his life, if only he can convince the proud Juliet that he's worthy of her hand and heart.

I am so glad I discovered Christi Caldwell last year and she is fast becoming one of my favourite authors with her charming, tender love stories. Always a Rogue, Forever Her Love is easily read as a standalone but I can definitely recommend the first three books in this series.

Despite his roguish reputation, it is obvious how much Jonathan loves his mother and four sisters regardless of the trials and tribulations they present. His mother bemoans the fact that he will not “do right by the Sinclair line and wed a proper English miss” but he has no intention of curtailing his life of pleasure by taking a wife. His three youngest sisters are “outrageously ill-behaved and highly improper” and their latest governess (the fifth) has resigned. His mother is at her wit’s end and gives Jonathan the task of finding a new governess.

Juliet Marshville has been lame since she was thirteen when her leg was shattered in a fall. It was then that she discovered just how much her brother, Albert, hated her. He is a selfish wastrel who has denied Juliet a Season with the cruellest of words.

“It would be an utter waste of funds to launch a faulty ship like you off into a sea made of diamonds of the first water.

Juliet is furious when she discovers that Albert has gambled away her beloved Rosecliff Cottage to the Earl of Sinclair. Not only that but he is pushing her to marry the loathsome Lord Williams…only he has something far less respectable in mind. She approaches the Earl of Sinclair determined to demand her cottage back. The earl agrees on condition she take up the position of governess to his sisters and shape them into “models of proper, English gentility.” As the cottage represents freedom from both her brother and the unwelcome advances of Lord Williams and a place to call her own, she accepts.

Despite everything that life has thrown at her, I loved Juliet’s indomitable spirit and loathed her cruel, heartless brother with a vengeance. It’s a shock to discover the true level of his hatred for his sister.

I enjoyed the battle of wills between Juliet and Jonathan’s sisters, Poppy, Penelope and Prudence. The three hoydens think to terrorize Juliet in the same way they did the other governesses, only to find she is made of sterner stuff.

Fortunately, she’d learned how to handle her wicked brother and his childish outbursts through the years. In fact, she’d wager her three charges combined could not even come close to Albert’s nastiness.

I enjoyed watching Juliet win over Poppy and Penelope with her kindness and patience.

From the moment they meet, I could feel the strong attraction between Jonathan and Juliet and, whenever they are together, sexual tension simmers just beneath the surface.

He lowered his brow to hers, his sapphire blue stare pierced her with its intensity. “Jonathan,” he demanded with all the authority of one accustomed to having his every desire met. “Say my name.”
“Jonathan,” she whispered, loving the feel of his name upon her lips, so utterly masculine and yet all the same, smooth as warmed chocolate.
He cupped her cheek. “Now tell me you still do not desire my kiss, Juliet?”

Jonathan’s admiration for Juliet’s courage in the face of adversity humbles him in a way that makes him take a good look at his own life. He sees a “smug, self-serving bastard” who could never be worthy of a woman of honour and integrity like Juliet. He doesn’t see his own worth as Juliet does; a loyal and loving brother, a dedicated son, a fair employer and a man who made her feel protected and cherished.

Of course the path of true love never runs smoothly and they have to overcome some stumbling blocks to attain their HEA, not least Jonathan’s misplaced honour. It takes some sage words from his little sister, Poppy, to make him see sense.

Poppy sighed and flung herself into a nearby leather-winged back chair. “I don’t like Jonathan. I preferred Sin. Why, Sin who would simply go and take back his Miss Marshville because he loved her and couldn’t live without her and didn’t care…”

Everyone who reads my reviews knows how much I love Epilogues and Ms Caldwell’s Epilogue is the delicious topping on an already scrumptious cake. I leave you with one final quote and its significance will become clear when you read the book.

“Under the stars, she whispered.”

MY VERDICT: Another captivating addition to this delightful series. Definitely recommended.

DNF at 33%. It wasn’t the worst book ever, but it wasn’t to my liking personally. Christi Caldwell is a hit or miss for me, depending on the characters or amount of repetition in the story. Some storylines I absolutely love, but this one didn’t jive with me.

The little teenage sisters that needed a governess were absolutely horrid. Mean girls all the way. One example: The heroine had a limp and explained to the girls that her brother had pushed her out of the tree as a child. They promptly made fun of the heroine’s limp and even went so far as to say that she probably deserved the handicap. They had a mother in that house, so governess or no governess, they should have had basic manners by their teens. They were just rotten people inside.

The hero… he wasn’t grumpy or stoic, which I prefer. It’s allude that he’s enjoyed a life of manwhoring his way thru the ton. So a cheery, happy rogue (manwhore), yuck. He just came across as a horny teenage boy trying to get reasons to interact with the heroine, and it came across as sleazy, not romantic. So the characters personalities weren't to my liking in this story.

I felt no chemistry, and by 33% I didn’t care about any of the characters to want to continue. 😖

Always a Rogue, Forever Her Love "Always a Rogue, Forever Her Love" by Christi Caldwell is book Four in the "Scandalous Seasons" series.  This is the story of Miss Juliet Marshville and Jonathan Tidemore, 5th Earl of Sinclair.  This is a standalone book but this does introduce you to the Tidemore family of sisters.  Which if you are like me I fell in love with them.  Ms. Caldwell does give them their own love stories is these books:'A Marquess for Christmas' which covers Patrina Tidemore story and is the 5th book in this series of "Scandalous Seasons".    Prudence Tidemore story is told in the book, "Captivated by a Lady's Charm (Lords of Honor Book 2)" which I haven't read yet.  Penelope Tidemore story is in "The Scoundrel's Honor (Sinful Brides Book 2)" which is out Feb 14th 2017.  Poppy Story is not out yet as of this review date of Jan 2017.  Hopefully this helps you since I wanted to read all their stories!Juilet is has been dealt a bad hand when it comes to guardians.  She has one that is missing and then their is her brother who does not care for at all.  He has even sold a cottage that Juilet had always hope to go to stay. In addition, her brothers friend has come forward insisting that she be his mistress.  With a bad leg (caused by her brother at a young age) and their money issues Juilet knows she won't be present to the town.  She does go forward to find Sin who had won her cottage in cards to request he return it to her.  Sin finds Juilet very beautiful and he wants her. Sin also thinks if he can get her to look after his sisters he can work on her becoming his mistress. Juilet does take the job as Governess for his sister with the understanding that if she can turn them into ladies then she can have her cottage back.  But the more they get to know each other things start to change for each of them as to what they really want. Another really great read by Ms. Caldwell!

I loved Sin in the first book and I was really excited to know that he had a book of his own, so I really looked forward to reading this one.

I was really disappointed by Sin’s way of thinking throughout almost the whole book. What was the difference between him and Lord Williams exactly? They both wanted her only as a mistress. So if we’re looking at this that way, they both harassed her. Or oh yeah, I forgot, it’s because Sin is “devilishly handsome” and he “has a kind heart seeing how he cares for his sisters so he isn’t just a horrible selfish rogue”, so no matter what he does he’s forgiven and all is well. No, this isn’t supposed to be how it works. And when you think he’ll finally be honorable and offer her marriage when he learns of what Williams has done, he’ll thoroughly disappoint you. He, yet again, offered her protection through becoming his mistress. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

For example, let me give you a snippet of a later chapter that made me want to toss the book:

*Sin, stalking Juliet, finds Williams harassing her so he steps in*
Sin: Leave the lady alone
Williams: *gets scared and glares at her but leaves them alone*
Sin: Oh who was that man my dear Juliet
Juliet: *proceeds to tell him about her past with her brother and how he wagered her to Williams*
Sin: Oh that cad! I’ll kill him
Juliet: *proceeds to tell him how Williams proposed that she become his Mistress and how she refused cause she only has her virtue and pride, and how Williams tried to rape her*
Sin:Oh that cad! I’ll kill him
Juliet: *proceeds to tell him how she’s hiding from him because she almost killed him in self-defense when he tried to rape her*
Sin: Oh my dear lovely Juliet, as long as you belong to me I’ll protect you forever and ever
Juliet: As your wife?
Sin:….
Juliet:….
Sin:….
Sin: be my mistress and you’ll be protected
Juliet:….
Sin:….
Juliet: *shocked pilatchu meme*

Anyway, I know that the author probably didn’t want him to realize how much of a bitch he is early on because the book would’ve just ended quickly, but it still infuriated me because almost the whole book was the same thing over and over.

Also, on another note, why did the author just up and decide that Lord Drake had an actual name? In the first book, DRAKE’S book, I thought he surely had a christian name and that Drake was just his title’s name. But because it was never mentioned, so I just assumed that maybe it is, in fact, his name. But now Sin said his name is Ashton? This piece of info shocked me more than Sin’s lack of sense and honor

And another useless info that doesn’t need mentioning but it kept me up thinking on it, how in the hell is Sin the 5th earl of Sinclair, when they said the title went back to the 1300s? It’s the year 1819 in the storyline. So let’s say the 1st earl was in the late 1300s, then 2 every 100 years (and that’s being VASTLY generous) that means Sin should, at the very least, roughly be 10TH EARL. TENTH. T-E-N-T-H.
For him to be the 5th, each earl should have lived to be a 100, and seeing as his father died when he was 23, I very much doubt that… so unless I’m stupid and don’t know the way the British hereditary titles work, this just doesn’t add up.

This is the 4th book in Ms.Caldwell's Scandalous Seasons series and the much anticipated story of the Earl of Sinclair, whom we met in Book 1, "Forever Betrothed, Never the Bride".
I absolutely adored this book and I loved getting to know the roguish Sin (Jonathan) better and meeting the lady that would be his undoing. He made some mistakes in this book but all was forgiven by the end. You also get to see the hero at home with his mother and sisters and, to me, that is always fun.
As always the author had me laughing, getting mad and even shedding a tear or two. A definite sign of a great book for me. Don't worry it's also got a few steamy scenes and, in my opinion, I would have to say this is one of Ms.Caldwell's sexier books to date.
I highly recommend this book and the series to readers who like there heroes and heroines a little less than perfect.

SO SO!!

Jonathan Tidemore the 5th Earl of Sinclair, commonly know as Sin has won a Rosecliff cottage in a card game from Baron Albert Marshville. Juliet Marshville is raging mad that her wastrel of a brother has lost her home in a card game. Juliet confronts Sin and demands he give her back her cottage. Jonathan propositions her to become governess to his 3 unruly hoyden sisters. The 4th sister Patrina is 19 and has already had her come out. Believe me these young girls were horrid. In turn Johnathan agrees to return her cottage once Juliet has transformed his sisters into good behaved English Young Ladies. Hence the Angst and back and forth begins between Johnathan/Sin and Juliet. All of the authors books follow the same format and are pretty much cookie cutters. The romance is mediocre and there is usually only one sex scene which take place at the very end of the book and usually after marriage. I did like some of the storyline and all of the badly behaved sisters. I thought that the story of Albert Juliet's horrible brother went undeveloped, his plotting to use Juliet just dropped out of the story. So did Lord Williams who wanted Juliet for a mistress, all of a sudden he just stopped his advances? The story had great potential, but Ms. Caldwell must have been trying to meet a deadline instead of turning out a developed well thought out story.

Three willful girls

The Earl's Mother is at her wits end. His three sisters have o you aged yet another governess. Juliet's brother has just lost her home to this same Earl and she's going to get it back . Hmmm. He needs a governess and she needs her home back. Sit back and just enjoy how MS Caldwell weaves a marvelous story of love , lies and sacrifice. And on a personal note, one of these sisters reminds me of her twin girls and their love of their brother.

I hate giving one star reviews, but I just didn't enjoy this at all, and even beyond that, it was weak in several aspects. If this had been the first book in the series I wouldn't have bothered to finish it, and I nearly always finish books. There were significant plot holes, and I didn't even enjoy the falling in love part, because I didn't actually buy that they *did* love. They hardly knew each other at all, or spent much quality time together, (but it also wasn't a love at first sight sort), and there wasn't much beyond lust between them, but then suddenly they're claiming everlasting love. I didn't feel an ounce of it. Also, the villains felt almost like an afterthought just to nudge the plot from time to time.

But my biggest complaint was that every single character was varying degrees of unlikable. The hero was an absolute letcher. Even in the book it points out several times that he's *not all that unlike the villain!* Eesh. The heroine was a little bit irrational, a little bit slow-witted, just poor judgement all around. And the young sisters were genuinely mean spirited little wretches, and the mom was largely just a hindrance, (and of course the villains were awful), so just about every named character was more off-putting than not. (For me at least). If a story doesn't have even one person I want to root for, then it better be very interesting or poetic or something, but this wasn't those either.

I gave the first book in this series 4 stars, but each one has been progressively worse. It's so disappointing. I have access to the next book on audio for free through my library, so I'll probably give this series one more shot in case it can recover, but I'm not in a particular hurry... =(

A Delightfully Romantic Deliverance From Debauchery!

Even though Jonathan Tidemore was a devil of a rake, selfish and greedy and much too stuck on how he affected women, he was an exceptional brother who took his responsibilities seriously when it came to protecting his sisters. He lived up to his nickname Sin. Sin being short for 5th Earl of Sinclair. And for me, his concern and love for his sisters was his saving grace. He selfishly manipulated those around him to suit himself. He handled his meeting with Miss Juliet Marshville in the way he handled himself at the gaming tables. He was out to wager and win. He liked what he saw in this women, looking at her body and spirit which he readily and willingly would use both to quench his thirst. Yes, he was a rather nasty man. But when it came to his sisters I could see they were his Achilles’ heel and just perhaps his salvation.

Miss Juliet Marshville, known as Miss Marsh to Jonathan’s sisters was certainly more than she first appeared. Of course she was spitting mad, both at her brother and Jonathan Tidemore, for playing cards using her property as collateral. She was beyond angry with her brother wagering it off and equally angered that the earl would accept the cottage once he won it. With plenty of spunk she fought for the right of her property. Believing in her capabilities, she stood up to Jonathan’s challenge for her to produce proper English ladies of his sisters. If she could, her cottage would be given back to her. But Jonathan wasn’t nice. That was just a way to get her into his house, to seduce her and make her his mistress. Do you see why I loved to hate him?

There were fun, laughable scenes when the girls would try Miss Marshville’s patience. There were others where Miss Marshville touched certain chords within the girls, also softening my heart toward the hellions. The younger girls slowly started to respect their governess. Sometimes, the young can see with their feelings better than their minds.

Through the lies and half-truths that Jonathan used to get her into his family and have her as governess ended up hurting many. As bonds of friendship were nurtured, outside evil lashed out to ruin the lives of Jonathan and his sisters. Would Miss Marshville be capable to set all to rights?
This Regency story deals with the problems of women in a society where one must do the proper thing. If something someone does is construed as wrong, even though it isn’t, a reputation will be bruised or destroyed. I’m mighty thankful I don’t live during those times!

I liked the story, the emotion that pulled our hero and heroine apart and the same which made them whole. I enjoyed Jonathan becoming a better person and figuring out that life isn’t just about gambling and lifting skirts!

I didn’t have the chance to read books 1-3 of this series. Always a Rogue, Forever Her Love is easily a stand-alone. That being said, since Christi Caldwell writes such charming, tender love stories, you undoubtedly should read her others.

April 1819 - London

Jonathan Tidemore, Fifth Earl of Sinclair, is now head of his family which consists of his widowed mother and four younger sisters: Patrina age 19, Prudence age 15, Penelope age 13, and Poppy age 12. While Patrina has had her come out, the 3 younger sisters are still in the schoolroom.

Once again, his sisters have managed to run off their fifth governess so Jonathan’s mother is completely frustrated and insists that it is Jonathan's turn to find a new governess. In addition, his mother is once again pressuring him to get married and provide a suitable countess that will carry on the Sinclair line. As he had been jilted once, Jonathan is still hesitant to to make that step.

Juliet Marshville, age 22 and her brother Albert, age 20 have recently lost their father making Albert the new Baronet. Instead of settling down to his duties, he has instead gambled away much of their inheritance. With debt collectors breathing down his neck, Albert is trying to push Juliet to wed the odious, Lord Williams. Albert’s cruelty to and hatred of his sister knows no bounds. When Juliet was 13, Albert pushed her off a tree top resulting in her leg being shattered. Today she walks with a limp. All she wants is to escape to their family home, Rosemont Cottage, and live out her life in peace, far away from her hateful brother. However, when she finds that Albert has lost the property while gambling, she is devastated.

Juliet discovers that Jonathan Tidemore, is the man who won Rosemont Cottage from her brother, so she decides to approach him and ask for him to please return it to her. Instead, he offers her the job of governess to his sisters. If she is able to shape the young hoydens into proper English ladies, he will ensure that the property is returned to her and only her. As she really has no other choice, she immediately agrees.

An intelligent young woman, Juliet works well with the young girls who take a liking to her and are willing to take their instruction from her. Juliet is kind and makes learning interesting and fun for them.

Meanwhile, the interactions between Jonathan and Juliet occur more and more often and their attraction to one another begins to blossom. Even though Juliet is the daughter of a Baron, she feels that any true, future relationship between them is not to be so she holds onto her dream of one day being able to live in peace in her cottage. Ah, but will love be denied?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and there is so much more to the story that I cannot reveal here. Just know that you must read this book. It’s romantic, fun, and sweet.

'Always a Rogue, Forever Her Love'...Jonathan Tidemore, 5th Earl of Sinclair, 'Sin' has two problems. 1. He must find a governess to turn the three youngest Tidemore girls, the three youngest of his sister's, into proper, young, English ladies. And 2. Wed a proper, genteel, English lady, to be his countess, and produce an heir and a spare. One night, outside his favorite, gambling, drinking, and carousing club, Hell and Sin Club he comes upon a woman, Juliet Marshville, a fiery, red head spitfire, who is determined to get back her family cottage that her brother lost to Sin, gambling. Drawn to Juliet, Jonathan makes her a proposition. Move in with his family, as his sister's new governess, and teach them to be proper English ladies, and he'll give her back her cottage....Oh, and become his mistress. Juliet agrees to the job as governess...but NO WAY, to being his mistress. Despite being drawn to him too.I loved 'Sin' and Juliet. Sin was a perfect nickname for him. There were times I wanted to strangle him. I loved what a wonderful, loving, doting big brother he was. I loved Juliet, She was perfect for him. I loved how great she was with the Tidemore girls. I loved her and Poppy's connection. I can see the beauty of rosewood cottage, Again I was bawling at the end when he showed up for her at the cottage

It coulda been much more. I wish it had been because I actually liked both Sin and Juliet. I've liked Sinclair since first time I read about him. Lovely character, however sithout being remarkable. Same for Juliet, she was a strong heroine, who had a lot of courage and knew what she wanted. But none of them will go down in history, as anything other than just alright. They lacked depth, emotion, the story itself lacked very much in steam... Overall it was just not up to what I know, Christi can do when she is best. It fell flat. After Emmaline and Drake's story, the fuss and drama with The Duke of Mallen, this was tame and somewhat boring 😬
I liked the 3 sisters though, or 4 really. The dynamic was interesting and I would love to see what fate had in store for especially Patrina. Poppy and Penny I also liked. Of course Prudence is a bit tough to like, but she could redeem herself from a spoiled entitled child, to a lovely sweet young lady.
I wonder if the Tidemore girls will have their own story's - I hope they do 🙂

Had promise, but weak willed heroine who folded like a house of cards at the first rougish wink gave me a bad taste in my mouth. I think I kept reading just for the girls, and not the unbelievable romance (which was lust lust lust- oh this must be love), I don't believe they had more than one real conversation.

For fun guess who this is! The hero or the villan?

He brushed the backs of his knuckles along her jawline...
his voice rough with desire. “I wanted to make you mine.”
“You wanted to make me your whore,”
“My mistress,” he continued, his voice laden with desire. “You would have wanted for nothing.”

If you guessed villan! Your right, but if you guessed hero, your also right! In the end it's all perspective I guess, because both touched and kissed her without her consent and kept begging her to bend over for jewels.

I usually enjoy the governess trope, but I just felt like he was taking advantage of her the whole time.
An extra star because the sisters were adorable.

I listened to this via the Audible Romance Package. I thought the narrator did a good job. I listened to the book straight through and was interested while I was listening. So, I was engaged and enjoyed the book. This is a romance, no mystery or suspense. I liked the heroine and the hero's sisters. The hero was a knucklehead. The story really focuses on the development of the relationship between the H&h and the hero's siblings. The heroine is likable and strong. She agrees to become a governess in order to try to recover her cottage that her brother lost in a card game. There is an immediate attraction between the H & h. The heroine is dealing with a change in station by accepting the governess role. With her new station, she knows she can't have a relationship with the hero. The hero makes a less than honorable offer which she refuses. I really feel like the hero was no better than the villain (except that there was an immediate attraction). The ending wraps up really quickly in the last chapter. I would have liked to have seen the heroine hold the hero accountable for some of his decisions. Also, the epilogue was really short and took place in the immediate timeline of the story. It wrapped up the H&h relationship. However, there is no closure with the other characters. It would have been nice to have an epilogue which addressed the reaction of the sisters and mother as well as the other characters introduced along the way.

“Being cruel will never make you feel good inside, but being kind will cost you nothing but a smile.”

Always A Rogue, Forever Her Love is book four in the Scandalous Seasons series by Christi Caldwell. One of the things I like most about Christi Caldwell is that she’ll give you a family’s story, but they won’t all necessarily be in the same series. Her books and series flow in a natural progression of time rather than be forced into telling one group’s story. You actually feel like all the characters in her books are connected, because they are. The is the first book featuring a Tidemore as a lead. Jonathan Tidemore, the Earl of Sinclair, has four unruly younger sisters and a propriety driven mama to look after. He knows he needs to marry a good English girl and remain scandal, if only for his sister’s sakes. Juliet Marshville has little options, her hateful brother just lost her home to the Earl and she’s not safe at home. Jonathan gives her an out, she can go into service as his sister’s governess and he’ll relinquish the property to her. The Tidemore sisters give her a run for their money, but she learns how to reach them. At the same, Jonathan and Juliet begin flirting with scandal. They both have to decide if the relationship is worth the risk. I always manage to love books that feature children, it usually lightens the story. You can’t help but laugh while reading this book, it’s a really sweet romance.

I’m so sad, I’ve really liked the other books in the series and I was looking forward for his book especially bc of the summary description and seeing Sin in the other books but I’m so so disappointed.

Both the MMC and FMC are so frustrating. The FMC keeps making questionable decisions and like how do you fall in love with someone who’s basically harassing you just bc uwu he’s nice to his sisters. Ugh.

And Sin(MMC), it’s like as soon as she became his governess he forgot that SHES A LADY?? Also constantly harassing someone in service of you to not only sleep with you but be your mistress?!? Are you crazy? That’s disgusting. Ugh, he’s just no self reflection.

I see no reason why they should be in love, so all the love declaration especially the FMC’s like 100 pages into the book honestly just pissed me off bc it made no god damn sense 🙃

Even after the MMC realizes he’s a dumb stick, he decides that the best thing to do is leave the FMC alone, exceptttt he fucking knows her horrid brother literally sold her off to pay his debts and there’s one man who’s actively tried to rape her and wants to try again. And yet you say she’s safer alone with no support, no friends, no family?? Like what the ever loving fuck??

I just. So frustrated bc I was so so excited.

London April 1818. This is my 4th book in a row in
this series. Gave this 4 stars. This series had a sex
scene in each book.

Jonathan, Earl of Sinclair appeared in bks #1 & 3 and
now "his story." Sinclair was pleasant, attractive,
smart & witty. Women enjoyed his company.

Another governess resigned. Sinclair hired Juliet w/o
references to be the governess of his 3 sisters ages
11 through 15. His 19 YO sister was in her 2nd season.
Willowy beauty Juliet had red hair, she attracted
Sinclair even though he generally preferred curvier
women. Also his mother harped on him finding an
appropriate countess.

Meanwhile Juliet's gaming obsessed brother Albert
found an inappropriate man to court her (man wanted
her as mistress only). Albert lost his small country
cottage to Sinclair in a card game!

Juliet felt alone in the world since her father died.
She had integrity & Sinclair had self-reflection.
Two of her charges were charmed by her and the
3rd called her "a cripple." Juliet was lame from an
injury/sabotage as a girl.

This had wit, romance, sexiness and sadness, as in
life. Sinclair stepped up more than once to be Juliet's
champion. How could Sinclair find the whereabouts
of Juliet?

Good book but I had some trouble getting into the storyline most around some key points I couldn’t buy into. Such as…

1)The whole plot is based around Juliet and Sin not being a match because he is an earl but she is a baronet’s daughter and also considered a noble lady so the entire time I kept thinking “what’s the big deal just marry her already”. They kept trying to make them seem like they were world apart but Juliet’s brother and Sin moved in the same circle so why couldn’t they be a match?

2) Juliet had a great father who died a year ago. She was 21 I think but never had a season. Her father as good and practical as he was would have given her a season.

3) i didn’t like the many references of Sin owning her or she belonging her him.

4) in general I Didn’tlike the way Sin conducted himself though he did have good character growth

5) towards the end he couldn’t figure out where she was even though there were multiple ppl that said where she last was but he didn’t think to go there first? Come on!

Still a good read but had to give it 3 stars.

Everything you never wanted

Jonathan Lord Sinclair had mistresses and his share of beautiful women! When approached by Juliet outside a club one night that was his immediate reaction was lust and propositioned Juliet a Baronet daughter! Her horrid brother had wagered and lost her only home Rose Cottage! This despicable excuse for a human even bartered Juliet! In defense of her virtue Juliet knew she couldn't ever return back there! Jonathan sensed this beautiful no nonsense young woman might be able to tame his 4 wild sisters!Juliet fought desperately against her attraction for Jonathan wanting to maintain her virtue and integrity! When Patrina the eldest Sister to Jonathan is compromised in exchange for Juliet being returned to settle a debt her brother owed! Sin aka Jonathan wasted so much time, I despaired of him taking action! Nail biter to see if he would pursue Juliet moaning for a long time he was worthy!? Did he wait to late? How can they have a HEA?

I thought I knew Jonathan Tidemore, older brother to the mischievous Tidemore girls, but somehow I missed Always a Rogue, Forever Her Love, book four of Christi Caldwell’s Scandalous Seasons series! Jonathan “Sin” Tidemore, the Earl of Sinclair wins Rosecliff Cottage from Albert Marshville, in a game of faro, and forgets all about it. Until Juliet Marshville, confronts him outside the Hell and Sin Club and demands he return it to her. Sin hires her as a governess for his sisters with the promise, she can win the cottage back, if she can turn his sisters into proper English ladies, a wager he knows she can’t win. From this less than auspicious meeting, boy do the sparks fly! It is easy to see why Jonathan earned the nickname “Sin”, and where the girls get their mischievous ways! I absolutely fell in love with Jonathan, and Juliet is the perfect woman for him. Christi Caldwell at her very best!

I have never read a Christi Caldwell and as an historical novel fan I’m not sure why I waited so long. I really enjoyed this novel and I believe it has everything to make it a fantastic HR novel.
Juliette was a very endearing, brave character and you couldn’t help but root for her to get the happiness she deserves.

Jonathan was also a fantastic hero and pretty tame as far as Rogues are concerned, he had a good heart and was quite selfless. Whilst he was a little confused of his feelings for Juliet it was clear from the start that he loved her, and it was quite emotional.

This was a very well written romance novel with lots of emotions and fantastic interactions even with secondary Characters which I can’t wait to read more about Jonathan’s unruly sisters.
