Owning a second-hand bookstore in Bangalow Sands is peaceful, predictable, and—if I’m being honest—a little dull. The local dating pool is as shallow as a puddle, and I’ve given up hope of finding a man who doesn’t think reading is just something you do on your phone while waiting for the pub to open. I want passion, excitement, someone interesting. What I don’t expect is for that someone to walk into my shop looking like a scruffy surfer but with the kind of face that belongs on a movie poster.
Because, as it turns out, that’s exactly where I’ve seen him before.
Maddox Fame used to be thrilling. Now, it’s a never-ending cycle of flashing cameras, staged interviews, and fake smiles. When a scandal erupts and the media vultures start circling, I do what any self-respecting, overexposed actor would do—I run.
Hiding out in a sleepy coastal town sounds perfect. No press, no fans, just the ocean and a bit of peace.
Then I meet her.
Giselle is sharp, stubborn, and unimpressed by my charm. She doesn’t care who I am, and that? That might be the most refreshing thing I’ve ever experienced. But secrets don’t stay buried forever, and when my past catches up with me, I have to decide—do I keep running, or do I finally stop and fight for something real?
Maybe the tide isn’t the only thing that’s restless.
A fun romantic book to read, not very long (more a novella size) and with a satisfying end. A little washed up romantically (almost) and going nowhere, not that she wants to go somewhere, but not quite satisfied with her lot, Giselle meets a troubled scandalous actor who’s hiding out in the coastal town where she owns a bookstore. What follows is their blossoming romance. The writing is assured, there’s some lovely humour and a pacy story. I like the brevity and enjoyed the romance. Not too spicy.
