House on Fire was a great book that made me think and challenged me as a parent - what legacy and what type of home do I want to have? I loved the authors honesty that their life wasn’t wonderful all the time - they had work to do but God was right there with them, guiding them back to where He wanted them and using their struggles to help encourage others.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was afraid I would feel condemned and feel even more inadequate as a spouse and parent but it was the opposite. While I was challenged and encouraged to do things differently, tweak certain areas of our family life and the reasons why I might want to change certain things, I was encouraged and felt like they were on my team rooting for me and my family.

Strong families that make an impact for God is the desire of the authors and that comes through loudly in their entire message. Great book, great message - highly recommend!

If you want to see change in the world, you must begin at home with your own family. Only by changing the family can the world be changed. The authors have a lot of experience in the ministry, but also in their family. They have a healthy marriage and five children, so drew from their personal experiences to write a book about reviving the heart at home. They touch on quite a few aspects of the home life - such as parenting, marriage, dating, and the different aspects of the mother and father.

The writing is simplistic in style, without flowery words or verbose chapters. The authors use practical, useful illustrations and ideas to bring across their message. It's a refreshing and on-point look at how we can make a difference for God in our own home. I enjoyed the more personal approach and the suggestions were helpful. I appreciated the frequent use of scripture to back up their points. I think this would be a great book for a young family starting out, but it will be just as useful to those of us with more "experience" in life.

I only docked half a star mainly because a big chunk of this was directly related to marriage and I am not married lol

Disregarding that point, this book was packed full of excellent biblically based advice and questions that all Christians should be asking themselves. I also found that applying the marriage principles expressed in this book to both single young people and those looking to date extremely useful.

I think would be a perfect book for couples who have been together for awhile or who are considering marriage to read together.
