I cannot promote this book enough. It has changed the way I think about this topic. The style of writing is casual, almost as if we were chatting, so it draws you in. More than once a thought or behavior pattern was expressed and I could have sworn that they pulled it straight from my brain.

The Fight of Your Life addresses a long avoided but much needed topic for Christians in today’s culture. Authors Tim Clinton and Mark Laaser subtitled the book “Manning Up to the Challenge of Sexual Integrity” as the book is primarily addressed to men, but it is also encouraging readers to step up and face sexual issues as men. As a whole, Christians do not talk about sexual purity or sexual sins. Yet people everywhere are deluged daily with provocative photos and insinuating innuendos whether or not they want to partake. This book has startling statistics and stories about pornography and what age people are first exposed to it, how many people (including church goers) view it, how easily accessible it is, etc. These statistics should concern you and motivate you to address these issues in your church, in your home, and in your life.

Personal testimonies of how easy it is to become entrapped in destructive sexual behavior were eye-opening to me. Some were heartbreaking as the testifier had been “innocently” exposed through no real desire of his own but became addicted as a result of one encounter, usually with pornography. One of the chapters I found most fascinating was “Our Plastic Brain” which discusses how the brain thought processes can be redirected, or the brain can be “rewired”. It gives a scientific explanation for how the brain functions and why these “forbidden pleasures” are as physically addictive as drugs. Another chapter addresses the need to uncover the reasons behind unhealthy behaviors. Still another chapter asks if you REALLY want to be healed. Near the end of the book are chapters on accountability and recovering then holding lost ground. Both chapters provide concrete, successful examples of conversations or thought processes that will help the warrior in his battle. There is even a chapter on healing your marriage and keys to marital intimacy. Most of all, this book gives hope to those who have unhealthy sexual behaviors or addictions and are seeking a way to break those habits. It provides info for parents, teachers, and leaders in training others to avoid falling into the rituals that lead to destructive behavior.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to any adult who has a sincere desire to motivate and encourage someone toward sexual purity. The book is very beneficial, and many aspects could be applied to other, nonsexual addictions or habits. On the down side, a couple of the middle chapters were a bit repetitive, in my opinion, and didn’t always flow well. Also, I received a paperback advanced reader copy of the book, and there were some proofreading or editing errors which I would expect to be corrected in the final copy. A final note: The authors begin the book, even before the table of contents, with a crucial caution to the reader. There are temptations involved in reading a book such as this because “a person may find information titillating” or “have a desire to do original research into the sin. We ask you to pray for strength in guarding yourself against both impulses as you move into the pages of this book.”

I received a copy of this book through The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.

If you are struggling with sexual integrity, used to be struggling with sexual integrity, or know somebody struggling with sexual integrity - so probably everybody - this is a great read.

The authors cover the physical reasons we become dependent on sex, show how our emotions strongly impact the reason we cannot overcome the dependence, help us think through those emotions, give fantastic detail on healthy accountability, and explain everything in light of the grace Jesus won for us and the sin-defeating power we have in the Spirit whom with we are sealed.

While the book was filled with useful information, my favorite was his explanation on accountability. Accountability is not meant to be a shame-inducing police officer, but a person who is able to help us think through the lies of the sin and the reasons we gave into them each particular time they come up so that we can more effectively battle in the future. Then they should proactively (not reactively) join us in that battle when they know we will be at our weakest.

There were two negatives in the book: first, many of the author's examples of triggers in people were too detailed. They seemed to be meant to inspire some of the same chemical reactions he was warning against at the time. Second, the story of John 5 was not correctly represented.

Overall, this book is definitely effective in sharpening your weapons in fighting the battle for sexual purity!

"The Fight of your Life Manning up to the Challenge of Sexual Integrity" is a great book about standing up against sexual sin. This self-help guide explains not only how and why men get involved in pornography, but it also gives guidelines for how to break free. Internet pornography is an industry that continues to grow and sadly reaches many, including our children.
The Fight of your Life will challenge you to stand against the temptations of sexual sin. It will help you understand some of the changes that take place in the brain as you allow the addiction to continue. It will also encourage you to fill the empty spot in your life with God rather than with sinful behaviors. This book can help you understand why you give in to sexual sin, and help you overcome it.
Authors Tim Clinton and Mark Laaser have included real life stories, scriptural advice, questions for reflection, action steps and resources to offer you the best possible recovery. They strongly encourage seeking out accountability and support as well as give advice on fixing a marriage damaged by pornography. They remind us that with God, all things are possible.
I think this is something every parent of boys should read, as well as men struggling with sexual purity. I received this book from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.

The Fight For Your Life by Tim Clinton is a book I enjoyed reading. As a mother of teenagers who has talked frankly with my children about saving themselves for marriage, it is nice to have another reference/source for them to listen to as well. I enjoyed the perspective of why we should wait and wanting God’s best for our lives instead of settling. This book is about more than premarital sex and opened my eyes to the pressures that my children are facing in the modern world in which they live - which can be scary at times. It definitely helped me see the perspective of what my children are facing and helped start a dialogue between us.

The Fight of Your Life is a very important message and wakeup call done in the spirit of love that I believe many should read. Besides men, I believe wives and mothers should read this as well. We are in the age of anything goes and sex and pornography have been running rampant. If only people would understand that sex, in the area of marriage, is and always was a gift from the Creator God. Instead most have sold their bodies and souls for a lie and a deception in place of the truly awesome and holy gift it was meant to be. Don’t be fooled, this very important subject affects our whole society and can either put us in bondage or set us free. My thanks go to the authors for writing on such a difficult and taboo subject. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review from The Book Club Network, Inc. and the opinions are my own.

This is a great book dealing with sexual addiction. It is a great resource for men that are dealing with this addiction, the wife of a husband that is dealing with this addiction, or for a parent of teenage sons. As a parent of teenage boys, I have read many resources dealing with this subject. This book is definitely one of the best resources. Using real life stories and statistics, this book is an eye opener! I would definitely recommend this book to everyone!

Good read for every man.

I personally enjoyed reading this book. In it the authors discuss the subject of sexual temptation and provide the reader with measurable steps that can be taken to live a life of Christ like purity. This book would be a great read for pastors, counselors, and any man that wants to more clearly understand how sexual strongholds are formed in the mind and how they can be broken.

This book is a much needed read for men of all ages. Those who are caught up in the throes of pornography and other sexual sins can find help, encouragements, and a plan of action. Those who are not can find ways to encourage and help their Christian brothers in this battle. The reminder that total victory doesn't come until we stand before Christ is not todos courage, but to encourage the reader to stand strong day by day.

The Fight of Your Life is an enlightening book. It deals with sexual addiction. It is easy to read but has so much information contained in it. There are both stories and resources contained. It is definitely a good resource for both parents of teenagers and wifes of husbands dealing with this problem.

Great book where Clinton and Laaser share personal stories about the epidemic of sexual brokenness in our society. Subject is treated seriously and soberly but the read is quite engaging
