Anne Malcom has been an avid reader since before she can remember, her mother responsible for her book addiction. It started with magical journeys into the world of Hogwarts and Middle Earth, then as she grew up her reading tastes grew with her. Her obsession with books and romance novels in particular gave Anne the opportunity to find another passion, writing. Finding writing about alpha males and happily ever afters more fun than reading about them, Anne is not about to stop any time soon.
It wasn't a terrible story, I just kept finding myself distracted by cat pictures when I was supposed to be reading.
The heroine in this one is fine, the hero is fine too - but it seemed like it was taking forever to get to the backstory of why these folks were the way they were and I just wasn't that interested. AM did a nice job of being very inclusive of a bunch of different groups of people, however the nuts and bolts of the character's personalities were missing for too long to really make me connect with their decisions and choices.
Overall a nice romance, but I did not like it as much as I did the earlier ones in this series.
The stripper and the outlaw. Man, never have I seen a better sentence.
The women power is EVERYTHING. It's probably my favourite thing about Anne Malcolm and her books. She write diverse heroines from all walks of life who are proud of themselves. She doesn't shame. I AM HERE FOR IT.
Ok... The stripper and the outlaw aka Freya and Hades. These two just hit right. Not because they are alike because honestly they are quite literally worlds apart. But because despite the craziness of their circumstances, they found common ground together and held on for dear life.
Freya is just positively delightful. She's a breath of fresh air. A bad ass boss bitch who honed her skill to what she knew and perfected her craft. She grafted, she put in the work and despite outside judgements, made a life for herself being 100% herself. She's smart and gorgeous and surprisingly understanding of the crazy around her. I think she's probably one of my favourite characters I've ever read. Not only is she relatable... She's just wholly loveable.
Hades is the darling antihero of this blessed story. Just like his name sake the man is sex, sin and not the nicest of humans to stroll the earth. But man does he pull off that villain vibe with his arrogance, his overbearing dominance and purposefully heated glares. Obviously there is many layers to this man but it's important to note he isn't ever going to be the 'nice guy'. He's good with his hands coated in blood and makes no apologies for that. But!!!! Oh man he does have a sweet side for the woman who never gave up on him. Even when he deserved it.
These two had me tangled up in all the tension that pulsed between them. That slow burning want what you can't have vibe just hit right. The connection they had was undeniable and all consuming. The kind that's brutal, raw and a little toxic. But also at times sweet with the kind of vulnerability that rips at your heartstrings. Both characters are depthy with so many layers to their personality and so much to give there really was never a boring moment between them. I felt like with every side I saw I fell deeper in love with these characters.
Their journey isn't easy. It's intense and frustrating and infuriating but it's also a learning curve for the characters who evolve through this journey into something so special. Nothing felt out of place or like a filler. The story read seamless from one page to the next with so much crazy going on my emotions took a real battering. It's action packed, suspenseful, tension filled and dripping in all kinds of sinful outrageous happenings. I laughed, cried, ranted, raved and swooned like crazy. It's a dark world filled with all kinds of depravity but it's also so much more.
Anne really did something special with these two characters.
I finished this book last night and I'm still trying to wrap my mind up enough to give a proper review. This author is one of the few that I can honestly say that I've read every word she's written. Stories like this are why. There are so many facets to everything she writes. Sure this is an MC book, but it's so much more than that. It's about relationships, the good, the bad, the ugly for sure, but there's healing and acceptance too. There's smoking hot chemistry, along with chaos and suspense that keep you turning the pages and the parts that make you laugh out loud but I think one of the biggest reasons I adore this author is that she writes characters that make you want to sit down with your drink of choice and hang out in their world for just a little bit longer. I'm really looking forward to spending more time with Hades, Freya and everyone else in New Mexico.
Three Kinds of Trouble by Anne Malcom again proved how much trouble she can cause in my heart with her irresistible alpha hero and equally fierce heroine. This is the best of MC romance with all the hotness, action, drama, feels and everything else.
Freya Baker has a made a life of herself in Garnett. Stripper. Youtube influencer. Money investor. And she wanted to stay far far away from Sons of Templar MC who controls the town. But she finds a bleeding dying biker in parking lot and she has to save him. Hades isn't any normal man. Large body. Larger presence. As enforcer of the MC club, he holds a dangerous vibe. And he has taken it as his responsibility to protect Freya from all the threats. Their connection is electric and Freya wants to explore it fearlessly. But Hades doesn't want to taint her light with his darkness.
Oh Anne Malcom writes the most intense alphas. They are a class of their own. It's so hard to tell you how intoxicating and addictive heroes like Hades are. They are hard, ruthless, edgy, lawless and whole lot of complicated. But when it comes to their women, they have this amazing softness. And that gets to me every single time. Like Hades did. He has seen so much death and violence and he doesn't think himself to be capable or worthy of loving. And it takes a strong, sassy, fierce and unputdownable woman to make him feel otherwise. Freya is just a bada$$ kicka$$ woman. She has suffered through her own trauma but she came out stronger and more assertive. She didn't back down. She didn't relent. She accepted Hades' tortured, twisted and destructive side so easily because she sees the amazing man inside. And their chemistry? Wow! Just wow. The slow burn was so so delicious and painful. And so was the following explosive moments. And it's a MC romance. So they have to go through some suspense, some action and some twists. Their connection is so palpable and i could feel the intensity in my heart.
Anne Malcom has very unique and angsty way with her words. She writes honest emotions, messy love and imperfectly perfect happily ever afters. Three Kinds of Trouble didn't disappoint me at all.
TKoT is now my favorite book by Anne! Hades and Freya’s story delivers a fabulous, unexpected roller coaster of emotions! Feeling sucked in to the characters, at times I felt like I was there with them, feeling intrigued, frustrated, frightened, turned on, anxious, infuriated and 900 other emotions! As always, Anne spun their tale in a beautifully eloquent way at a pace that consistently had me itching to read the next page! Best of all, you do not need to read any of the other SOT books in order to enjoy this one. Although this book made me want to go back and read them from the start, and I’m sure reading the others would only enhance my enjoyment of this one, I’ve only read SOT#8 & absolutely loved #9! I can’t wait to read whoever’s story is next!!!
I loved everything about this book! Three Kinds of Trouble is intelligently written, definitely keeping in mind how wonderful it is to read about a strong, take no f*cks heroine and a larger than life, sexy anti-hero. I really enjoyed reading about this new chapter of the Sons of Templar, while getting to touch base with so many of the characters I already love. If you long for well written, MC romance, a tight, entertaining storyline, steamy sexy times, and wonderfully stubborn characters, you will be immensely satisfied with this selection! 5 Stars!
Anne Malcolm never disappoints with any of her books or characters. I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it done. This book is about a new chapter of the SOT. And it’s about Freya and Hades. Both are strong and flawed people. But the just work. This book has it all! I highly recommend this book.
Being speechless is probably a word that I would describe this book after I’ve finished it. This book completely blew me away with how amazing it is and the power it had to hold the readers attention.
I’ve been in a book funk for quite literally over a week and absolutely nothing was grasping my attention until I started this book.
This author has the ability to pull the reader in and magically pull you into the worlds that she’s created.
I probably say this with every book of Anne Malcom’s, but each book in this series just keeps getting better and better and I love the connections that we see with the other series as well.
This wasn’t an easy story by any means, so don’t be expecting smooth sailings and sunshine and rainbows to occur in this book because really fuck that! Life isn’t like that. Both these characters harbour demons and they found themselves connected to each other not only because of that but the lead up to their first interaction sets the tone for their story.
These two were complete fire together and the push and pull these two had drove me completely crazy. When these two unite and come together, it’s something that is partly beautiful as these two deserve each other and secondly it’s explosive because the connection and chemistry that these two have is completely out of this world.
Hades and Freya story was completely something I expected but didn’t expect at the same time. It packed so much heat, action, steam, darkness of the MC and what they will do to protect those they love. Their story to love may not have been easy but it’s theirs and it’s how they faced what they had to, to eventually get to their happily ever after.
If you’re an MC fan like me, then this is a book that you definitely need to read as it ticks all the boxes that we look for in our books.
Merged review:
Speechless.. Where do I even begin?

I was all in from the start, kept turning the pages because I needed to know what would happen next and really wish there were more words to read because I didn’t want to say good-bye to Freya and Hades.
And for the stripper and the outlaw? To say I adored them both is an understatement. I loved how Freya owned everything about herself. Confident and yet not without her little quirks and independent as all get out, but not so stubborn to acknowledge when she needed to lean on others. And Hades? Talk about anti-hero goodness. He may be all kinds of alpha AF broody, but that blunt protectiveness of his just did me in ~ in all the best ways.
Their journey to their HEA was definitely not conventional and filled with all kinds of road blocks ~ some put there by others, some by themselves ~ but it was all kinds of everything. The chemistry between them was intense from the start and I loved watching as they got under each other’s skins and just how good they were when they finally gave into each other. The one thing that I really liked was how they truly saw each other and liked each other exactly as they were. The push/pull was real and there were definitely a few moments that had me growling in frustration, but I loved how it all worked out for them in the end.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had a great balance of drama, angst, heat, humor and heart. There are triggers, so reader beware. As for the supporting cast of characters. I gotta say I liked all of them. From Marilyn to Des to Swiss. I’m extremely excited to get to know this chapter of SoT and cannot wait to find out who will be next on the HEA chopping block!

This author is a favorite of mine for a reason. This book is just an example of why. It is filled with suspense, hotter than Hades (pun intended) chemistry, and an intriguing storyline. I have been with this series since its inception and it just keeps getting better and better. This book is a different chapter than the original books yet, that did not stop me from being invested in the characters or storyline.
From the beginning, it started with a bang. New characters were introduced that I am VERY much intrigued by, (I see you Swiss), and I can't wait to see what character gets his story told next. I loved all the details in this story(very reminiscent of Kristen Ashley in places which I adored) and loved getting to know the setting of the story as much as I loved falling in love with Hades and Freya.
I am not sure who was more affected by the anticipation, me or the characters, more but good lord it was delicious and worth it in the end, because the magnetic pull between these two was palpable. I loved that I was able to get into both character's heads and see things from their standpoint. Especially, Hades because at times his reasoning had me confused. The steamy times between these two were HOT. This author can write steam. It is important to note though that it is balanced well and does not overshadow the amazing story.
This story is definitely gritty and not afraid to blur the things of black and white. Violence is a way of life for these bikers and is one of the reasons that I like this author because she stays genuine to the story and doesn't make it PG-13. Highly recommend this book and series of interconnected standalones to anyone that likes true authentic MC romance.
“‘So you see, Hades, I’m ruined,’ I admitted, my voice little more than a whisper. ‘In the most visceral of ways. In a kind of way that makes it impossible for me to be with anyone who isn’t. I need someone who understands monsters, who understands and knows how to live amongst the ugliness of this world.’ I sucked in an unsteady breath, finally looking at Hades properly for the first time. ‘I need you.’”
32 year old Freya Barker was a bit of a drifter until she found a piece of her forever in a sleepy town in New Mexico. She found her people working at as a stripper. She supplemented her income with her YouTube channel that surprisingly had a huge following. One night she encounters late 30 something year old Brian “Hades” Cooke bleeding to death in a parking lot. She made the only choice she could and that was to save him. He is set on keeping her out of his world, but he doesn’t realize that it’s the first time she has felt truly happy.
Wow. Hades flip flop attitude was a downer. It nearly ruined the book for me! But the Freya was such a strong character I held out my judgement until the end. Of course, it ended up being a 5 star read.
Cliffhanger – no (book #9 in series) POV - Freya & Hades
I think I need to begin this review by sharing I have read each of Anne Malcom’s published books. I admire the growth I have seen as each of her stories, unbelievably, takes me to a new and exciting place. She started out, from the very beginning, as a female author with a strong and dignified literary voice. Add to that, an emotional respect for her readers, and you get a wonderful and eclectic backlog of always deep, at times dirty, a bit delicious, creatively dire, a touch demented, and even drastically different writing. What they ALL have is Anne’s voice.
Three Kinds of Trouble is book 9 in her Sons of Templar MC series.
But Anne even makes book 9 in this series unique and heartfelt. Seriously, who can make our hearts melt more for a stripper? Ms. Malcom can. We travel a journey with Freya and Hades {{{love those names}}} and learn more about ourselves through their trials. Plus we get to be part of the family of characters we have fallen in love with in her previous books in this series - which you should totally read.
You will find your heart and your soul when you read the works of Anne Malcom.
I love the Amber Sons of Templar- can’t get enough of them but really didn’t “feel it” as the series moves into different areas. Even though I know characters I miss the connection I had in Amber. I would have preferred to read about a completely new MC.
" I love you Hades. With blood on your hands, with death on your soul ,with demons in your eyes, I love you "
Each book in this series only gets better. The characters only get stronger and fiercer. I loved Freya's take no prisoners attitude and I loved that she was able to catch Hades heart without even really trying, by just being her.
This was not a rainbows and unicorns story. Both Freya and Hades has Monsters. "I need someone who understands monster , who understands and knows how to live amongst the ugliness of the world."
What keeps me reading and loving all the books in this series is the family that the MC is. They take care of their own. All of the women are warriors and all of the men will protect their family to the death.
I love this series and I love this author so it is no stretch to think I would love this book and I do.... I really do!
My favorite thing about this series is that each book is unique. The characters are quirky, loyal and find a way to move past some very serious things that happen to them.
Hades and Freya are one of my favorite couples! I love the fact that neither try and change each other and both of these characters are flawed and come with some big baggage. I just wanted to be as strong as Freya even with all the hurt she endured. This is a fabulous book and I would highly recommend it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
5 PHENOMENAL STARS!! #1 BOOK OF 2021!! Anne Malcom just went to the top spot on my list for this year. Hades and Freya have engraved their names on my heart. This book will hit all tge feels button and keep you flipping pages. You must read this book.
Talk about an exciting start to this story, it hooks you right in and honestly, you stay hooked until the last page. This new charter of The Sons of Templar in Garnett, New Mexico is action-packed just like the Amber one! ♥️
Freya is such a likeable character with her sassy mouth always chatting away, her zest for life and the way she looks at it so positively, her inner strength and her extremely caring nature. I love how honest she is with everyone, mainly herself, yet she is never nasty with that honesty. She is the perfect partner for Hades who is the polar opposite being a very quiet observer, dark and broody and who rarely cracks a smirk let alone a smile. However, he is fiercely protective and loyal, though very hard on himself. In getting to know Hades better we also get small glimpses into Swiss and I can honestly say his character excites and intrigues me, I can’t wait for his story.
In this book we meet Kallum, the owner and manager of the strip club where Freya works. He is such an interesting character and one I would love to know more about and I hope he gets his book too. Demanding, I know—sorry—not sorry! 🤷🏻♀️ Ms Malcom writes such intriguing characters it’s hard not to get invested in them.
In this book is some terrific humour, especially with Freya’s wicked sense of humour as well as Marilyn’s, now she’s a terrific secondary character. The fun banter and thoughts get you chuckling as well as the one liners thrown out here and there. This lighter side balances the darker one where violence meets unsuspecting people undeserving of such treatment, as well people who do deserve it! Of course, as with all of this fabulous author’s stories there are plenty of emotions to wring you out and hang you up. 😆
The wonderful support from friends and family, whether biological or not, is paramount in this story and leaves you feeling fantastic as the story ends, now that’s how you write a book!
An absolute MUST read from Anne Malcom's Sons of Templar MC series!!!
I don't know how she does it, but each new release from Anne Malcom has me loving the characters more than I loved the ones from previous novels, and I have loved them all.
Freya and Hades are two people with hearts so fractured, that there are no longer smooth edges but only jagged surfaces . . . jagged surfaces that fit each other like missing puzzle pieces. And despite the event that brought them together, and the experiences and ugliness that crossed their paths after they met, those jagged edges began to not be quite so sharp and they both were able to find light in all the darkness that had been their lives prior to meeting, and brought them to a life that may have been just a dream, or had never even been thought possible, but became their reality.
Anne writes characters that you absolutely have to get to know in stories that have you refusing to put down the book, or your kindle, until you've read every last word. As a reader, you're not just reading her stories, you are living and experiencing them with the characters ~ you feel their happiness, sadness, and even their anger, and that is what has me counting the days until her next release.
I'm looking forward to the next release from Anne's Sons of Templar MC series, as she's also introduced us to characters that will have you wanting to get to know them better.
If you haven't met the Sons of Templar MC, I must ask, "What are you waiting for?"
Anne Malcom I love your writing you have so much heart and emotions in every page you write me as a book lover has read almost every one of you incredible stories and also have gotten me through some dark times so fellow book lovers if you are new to Anne Malcom I highly recommend her books you don't want to miss them . Three Kinds of Trouble is one of my favorite stories by the author and that is some tough competition . Even though this is book nine in the Sons Of temple Mc it can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend that you read them in order you might run into some minor spoilers . The couple had amazing chemistry the hero frustrated me at times it was understandable why but still big frustration . The heroine was incredible I really connected to her character just the way she was my heart bleed for her and I just really admired her for being the way she was with her past . I can't wait to read more by the author she is by far one of my faves and I just love the rollercoaster of emotions can't wait to read more by her in the future also re read all of her other books . stars 5 hero 4.5 heroine 5 steam 3.5 secondary characters 4
Who knew an MC romance would also make me feel warm and fuzzy, and mad and sad and also be super spicy at the same time.
Seriously, who doesn't love a good anti-hero who will *unalive* people for wronging his girl?!
Freya and Hades had SUCH a Rollercoaster of a relationship and man, was it so unconventional. They did everything in fast forward and ass-backwards. But it was so fun to read. They fell head over heels for each other and like the true enforcer that he is, felt he wasn't good enough for Freya. What we find out about Freya is that she is just as damaged and scarred as he is. She has a bad and traumatic past, so murder is not something that scares her.
I LOVED Freya as a main character. She was freaking EVERYTHING. Sassy, strong, empowered, smart as hell. Owned her faults as much as she owned her assets. So resilient, such a bad ass. I'm obsessed.
she never disappoints, I REPEAT anne malcom never ever disappoints 🤌🏼✨ this book was a masterpiece of pain, magic, love, fear, brotherhood and everything underneath and above. It was the perfect ending to this series and im SO sad that it’s over. I have been utterly obsessed with this series it’s not even healthy i literally devoured this series in one week.
Freya and Hades are so perfect for eachother I can’t even begin. My new favourite trope is definitely biker club where they make their own laws and rules but one thing they do stand by is that they love their women with everything they have in a mind blowing way. I’m desperate to find something that even resembles the same way I felt about this series 🥹🥹 I ugly cried, I happy cried and i felt every other emotion you could imagine reading this series it truly felt like i was experiencing all of this that’s how beautifully well written it was🖤🥹
I wish that I could give this 4 stars I really do. It had so much that I enjoy in a motorcycle gang/romance. I loved the heroine, a little cliche her being a stripper but also the author found ways to circumvent the cliche. Hades is the perfect anti-hero. I really liked him and this grumpy/ sunshine dichotomy/romance. The reason I couldn't give this the full 4 stars is because it felt like there were too many conflicts. I was exhausted, plus to maintain the pacing there had to be many time jumps, which I didn't enjoy.
Spoiler First there was a rival and Hades being stabbed, and us having to worry about gang retaliation. Ok fine. BUT THEN she has a stalker ex, then SURPRISE she has an unwanted and unexpected pregnancy, and to top it all off she is kidnapped. It just felt like so much to me.
Started off well, the build up was hot hot hot. The anticipation OH MY GOODNESS MY PANTIES...
But, it just quite deliver in the end. A lot of fade to black which was disappointing for me personally.
Also timelines jumped constantly which was frustrating, multiple times through the book a chapter woul start with a jump in time. Once I get, but anymore and it's off.
I love a MC Alpha trope, and our delicious alpha was all kinds of sexy and the heroine was mostly pretty awesome. I love how she had her hustle.
I read, it was enjoyable. It's a decent book. If you aren't too worried about getting the full dirty breakdown then read ahead.
I hunted out another MC read after to fulfill my needs
I liked it, it was a nice read but a little uneventful, there was never a really dangerous situation so it just seemed a bit half-hearted.
It reminded me a lot of Lauren and Gage, two characters which I really liked but it was basically a repetition of their story with less intense characters. The crazy ex, the Amy/Macy character storming into their lives, the separation due to baby/no baby stances and a dangerous situation that follows for which the biker blames himself bc he had left the girl. And then everything changes and they live happily ever after.
Like I said, a nice read but nothing really new.

★★★★. I read this whole series out of order and when I first read Wretched Love I was so curious about Hades and Freya. I can say my curiosity was worth it. I loved this storyline and the characters. Anne wrote Freya as a strong woman who shouldn’t be ashamed to work as a stripper. She wrote Hades as someone who viewed himself as a monster, but he was really Freya’s protector.
I wanted a bit more apologizing about him just leaving and not looking for those three months. Getting his pov after the birth of their daughter and before finding Freya was the confirmation I needed to know he was happy about the baby.
I love Freya. She's kind, confident and nice. I really love her personality, the way she views life, the way she fights for herself. Her first encounter with Hades prove that she's strong. I loved their story. This whole Sons of Templar series has my heart. All of the characters are special and I really loved each one of them. They have their own story, their own struggles with life, their own drama. Every one of them is perfect. Each book has kept me hook. Thanks to Anne Malcolm for these books. They are amazing. I can't wait to read more from the New Mexico Chapter and from all the series she has written.
