In the tradition of their highly successful A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workbook , Elisha Goldstein and Bob Stahl present a unique, accessible collection of daily practices to help readers stay grounded in the here and now. Stress is a part of daily life, but over time it can cause us to feel anxious, irritable, and overwhelmed. So how can you keep stress from getting the best of you and avoid total burnout? The key to maintaining balance in life is to respond to stress with genuine, nonjudgmental awareness of our bodies and minds. Drawing on the ancient wisdom of mindfulness, this practical guide will show you tons of little ways you can overcome stress every day—no matter what life throws your way. The mindfulness strategies in this book are inspired by mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), a clinically proven program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. Research has shown that MBSR is effective in alleviating a number of health and mental health conditions, including stress, anxiety, panic, depression, chronic pain, and more. This important book works wonderfully on its own, or can be used in conjunction with A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workbook . If you are ready to permanently change the way you handle stress, gain powerful inspiration, and live more fully in the moment, this book is the perfect guide.
Elisha Goldstein, Ph.D. is a psychologist, author and speaker. He is currently a licensed Psychologist in private practice in West Los Angeles and also teaches mindfulness-based programs through InsightLA.
This is a book I won in a Goodreads giveaway offered either by the author or publisher. I want to say a great big thank you for their kindness. I am now passing this book on to another person, family member or friend who may also benefit from this book. My library is so full, I need to share and the best way to do that is to give this book away now so someone else may enjoy the words between the pages.
Fantastic book! This took me awhile to read (almost a year), because I wanted to soak it all in. Each chapter gives you tips-awareness, forgiveness, meditation, opening up your heart etc. I loved how the authors explained the concept at the beginning of the chapter, then gave advice on practicing it. This is for anyone who wants to be more calm, in the moment and more aware of their thoughts. Highly recommend!
Goldstein and Stahl are on target with MSBR Every Day. "Just do it," is my mantra. They outline steps in a simple, easy to follow manner. Of course, the practice is much more of a challenge, but well worth the rewards. I recommend MSBR to everyone with families, business, or life in general. I'm passing this on to friends and family so that we can all participate in the healing process This book was passed on to me by a fellow goodreads winner.
I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway... I'm very excited to work my way through this book, as the author suggests...takes about 1 year. Thus, I wanted to add a brief review now as it will be quite some time before I finish it. I really appreciate the direct and gentle manner of the guidance to Just Do It if one wants to achieve the benefits of MBSR. Updates soon.
Es un libro qué te da buenas ideas para meditar pero no es el mejor libro para comenzar. Hay otros libros con ejercicios diarios. La practica formal es importante y este libro es más de consejos aleatorios que de guía práctica.
A highly practical guidebook on mindful stress reduction, especially for those in untenable situations (i.e., disagreeable people, desolating work, and chaotic environments). It is a quick read with a great structure that encourages action with simple (yet not simplistic) exercises.
Short and sweet book on mindfulness based stress reduction. A 5 because it gives tons of relatable metaphors to carry with you and has strong references. A great starter book for those looking to learn more but not wanting to dive into the deep end.
No es el tipo de materiales que consumo, aunque desde hace un tiempo, he tratado de abrirme más a esto. Dicho esto, se aprecia el enfoque práctico del libro. Es de fácil lectura y ágil.
This Book was received as a free Giveaway from a Goodreads contest, and it is not totally accurate that I am 'finished.' This is NOT a book that one would ever finish. You will never be 'finished' with stress while you are still breathing.
First, this book is not religious per se. It is secular, and does not mention God or the Bible etc, but the premises to me seemed based on Judeo-Christian principles.... I do religious reading daily, as of the Our Daily Bread variety. So in the MBSR book, when he writes-- Blessings that we have [I add from God], Trust in ourselves [I add with help from God], I love you - said to yourself [I add God loves me].
The directions in the Introduction advise to use a notebook to gauge your stress. But I found that a one page chart, which I put in the back of the book worked well. Or even writing in one of the pages in the back of the book.
If you are a religious person, don't let the secular tone deter you from making full use of this small, handy-sized book. And if you are not a religious person, the book is made-to-order for you.
This workbook is so usefull I am a family counselor and I would say this book not only helped me but also caused by it I could help to many clients to have a better life ...
