A wonderful volume of Appalachian Trail history from the voices and stories of hikers throughout the history of the AT. This is a bottom up or ‘boots up’ approach in this case! Read this book if you love AT history, or are even if you’re curious, you will definitely learn something new!

I have not thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, but I have section hiked the AT in Virginia and West Virginia. This book successfully captures the essence of the trail and those who hike it.
