One elopement to Vegas. A drunken night with my best friend. And an accidental wedding. What could go wrong?
Ava Spencer, a dedicated ER doctor, is ready to settle down and start a family. But in her small Kentucky town, finding Mr. Right is proving to be impossible. Enter Reed Campbell, her charming coworker and her brother's best friend. A drunken night in Vegas leads to an accidental wedding, and suddenly Ava's plans for the future take an unexpected turn.
As they navigate the challenges of married life, from nosy family members to sharing a home, Ava and Reed discover that their accidental marriage might just be the best thing that ever happened to them. But will they be able to turn their drunken mistake into a happily ever after?
Ever since Megan Ryder discovered Jude Deveraux and Judith McNaught while sneaking around the “forbidden” romance section of the library one day after school, she has been voraciously devouring romance novels of all types. Now a romance author in her own right, Megan pens sexy contemporary novels all about family and hot lovin’ with the boy next door. She’s also a master procrastinator–with knitting and yarn shopping as her primary form of procraftination!
Oh boy. That was cute and sweet and funny, but also an emotional rollercoaster watching Ava fight the connection with every fiber of her being. Reed? He’s what all my book boyfriend fantasies are made of: protective, caring, a little bit naughty, and so darned sweet I think my teeth ache a little. I adored these two together. Reed worked so hard to show Ava what they could have, that I desperately wanted to shake some sense into her stubborn, wounded heart. This is where their supporting cast absolutely shone, with their abilities to talk sense in a way our leading couple could hear. Now, my fingers are crossed that perhaps the author will turn her attention to the devoted older brother for a future project. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book through Booksprout.
Ava Spencer doesn’t do reckless. Her entire life has been about order, discipline, and staying in control. Reed Campbell? He’s the opposite. Free-spirited, charming, and the last person she ever imagined waking up married to in Vegas.
But one impulsive night turns into an opportunity she can’t afford to waste. If the hospital board believes she’s settled, she’ll land the ER attending position she’s spent years fighting for.
The problem?
Reed doesn’t just play the role of devoted husband—he’s good at it. Too good.
The late-night talks, the slow-burn tension, the way he looks at her like she’s the only thing that’s ever made sense? None of it was part of the deal.
Now Ava’s carefully built walls are starting to crack. But Reed isn’t just any risk—he’s the one risk she doesn’t know how to survive.
This contemporary small town best friends-to-lovers romance is page-turning with exceptional world-building in Las Vegas, and characters that are alpha, captivating, and realistic. Reed and Ava are total opposites. She's a planner. Structured. Married to her job as an ER doctor. A relationship is the last thing she wants. For reasons. He prefers not to have a plan. Likes to live a little more freely. His easy-going nature is often calming to the patients he sees as an EMT. And he has rules about dating someone he works with. There's always been an attraction between them, though neither would ever admit it. They prefer to keep their distance. But when their best friends elope to Vegas, there's more than one couple that wakes up married the next day. Instead of annulling it, Ava realizes that the marriage could work out in her favor at the hospital, finally putting her ahead for the permanent ER position. But living together and pretending to be a couple presents its own problems, and real feelings start to creep in. Was this the worst drunken idea in the history of Vegas? Or the best thing they ever didn't plan? Either way, it will change their lives forever. I really liked this. Flawed characters, good story. Reed and Ava were opposites, but they complimented each other. Reed tried to encourage Ava to get out of her shell and relax, but she had a hard time achieving that work-life balance. And her experience with relationships had never been good, so she had a hard time letting anyone in. It was nice to see Ava's growth in working through her issues as Reed tried to break down the walls she used to protect herself. She was a tough nut to crack. There was also more than one person who threatened to expose their secret, which added to the stress on them. Welcome to Kissing Springs, where love might find you when you least expect it.

What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas, especially when you wake up married. After losing her parents young, she doesn’t leave much to chance. She is a planner and has devoted her life to becoming an er doc. When their friends decide to secretly elope, they take them along for the ride. What they didn’t expect was to wake up married themselves. With her career on the line, he agrees to keep the illusion alive even though he risks something else, because she is also his best friend’s little sister. In reality, they’ve been circling each other for years, even though they’ve been in denial. One drunk wedding later, and they are forced to confront what neither has been willing to admit. The spice in this one walks the line between closed door and open door, you get more illusion than you do detail. The story is all about the building of a relationship and it does a good job with that. It shows you not only their growing attraction but also the vulnerabilities. It did feel as though the story went on longer than it should have. The last third felt like it drug out their conflicts when it just didn’t add to the story, it felt like it kept recycling the same issues. I did find a soft spot for these two characters and how they fit together even before they knew it. It was tender and it was sweet.

Reed and Ava have known each other years..he is her brother's friend. A romance between the two seems most unlikely as they have different personalities. They work together; he is a paramedic and she is an ED doctor. He is carefree and she driven. He is kind and open, she is insular and closed. An unlikely liaison and spontaneous marriage in Vegas seems disastrous. It has its disadvantages and difficulties from the outset, but Rred is determined it could work. Ava gives little and has a foot out of the door. It is never explained who disclosed the marriage being a sham in order for her to secure the ED position. This I felt was frustrating, especially as her behaviour and accusations to those close to her are despicable. It actually was a mess, created of her own making, in order to get what she truly felt she deserved. It has its moments and its disappointments.

Reed and Ava are attracted to each other but they don’t acton it until they are in Vegas with their friends and she impulsively asks him to elope. Ava is a planner who is very thorough in her diagnosis as an ER doctor to the dismay of her boss. She asks Reed to stay married and pretend a relationship in the hopes that it will help show she is committed to staying and gain a permanent job in the ER. I was surprised she would want a job like that knowing she wasn’t supposed to spend as much time on her diagnosis. Reed thrives under pressure as an EMT and working with kids at the town rec center. He’s not as methodical as Ava but even their marriage was impulsive for him. Now he just has to convince her to make their relationship real. But Ava has abandonment issues she has to work through. They both jumped into this relationship backwards and lied to so many in the process.
He is the reason she can let go, a reason to breathe.
She is stubborn and brilliant where he is spontaneous and reckless. He somehow found out all her buttons and pushes them properly.
He wants to build a life with her where she is terrified of disappearing into their marriage and losing the person she'd been before. Can a tangled web of lies turn into a solid marriage?
They challenge, frustrate and fascinate each other every single moment. Would they be able to overcome her harse words, her accusations? Because I have to tell you, I think I would have turned my back and leave right away. The pain was so intense. The betrayal... They both carry the weight of the entire world on their shoulders. Will they be able to share it?.

Brother-best-friend romance. Ava is a young doctor working in the emergency room and is waiting for a residency position. She's also deeply in love with her brother's best friend, Reed, and hides her crush under a heavy layer of sarcasm when she's with him. But then they go to Vegas with friends and end up in a drunken wedding. Reed is a paramedic who spends his days crossing paths with the love of his life, Ava, but he doesn't dare confess his feelings to her, given their differences and the fact that she's his best friend's little sister. So when they finally get married, he sees it as a way to get closer to her and maybe make their marriage work. Will Ava be able to open up to Reed, or will their childhood traumas tear them apart….

Midnight and Marriage by Megan Ryder is part of the multi-author Welcome to Kissing Springs: Midnight Season series. The story is about Ava Spencer and Reed Campbell. She is an ER doctor who always follows the rules. He is an EMT who get things done his way and that does not always mean coloring within the lines. These two have a hate/love relationship with him also being her brother's best friend. Reed knows how to push Ava's buttons and that will end up including some personal buttons also before the end. They bicker, poke, flirt, have some sizzling hot passion and more along the way from a fake marriage to something very real. This is an entertaining book. The story is nicely written, the characters are very likeable, the sizzle simmers until it erupts and you end up going on an enjoyable ride to the HEA.
Midnight and Marriage is part of the multi-authored Kissing Springs: The Midnight Season series. It's a friends-to-lovers, accidental marriage, opposites-attract, girl gets her brother's best friend romance. Ava is an ER doctor who thrives on control and order. Reed is a charming hunk who is her co-worker and brother's best friend. The two have always liked each other but just circled around each other. Ava doesn't have time for love. When they end up drunk in Vegas, they wake up married and Ava, worried about her reputation, asks Reed to maintain the facade, but he's playing for keeps. I loved Reed, Ava got on my nerves at times, but I am happy they find their way to each other. I did find it a bit slow at times, but overall, I enjoyed it.

What a wonderful story. Ava is an ER doctor who has a tight control on her life. Reed, an EMT, lives in the moment and loves to tease Ava to get a response from her. A trip with friends to Vegas turns both of their worlds upside down when they wake up married. Panic ensues as this could threaten Ava’s hopes for a permanent job position. Their love journey is a rough one as they navigate past loss, doubts, vulnerabilities, small town gossips, family judgement, and so much more. I found myself totally immersed in their heartache, joys, humorous moments, personal/relationship growth, passion and hope for a future together. HEA.

Midnight and Marriage was a sweet and emotional read. FMC Ava is a buttoned-up doctor who needs to learn to loosen up ad have some fun. She also needs to learn to listen to her heart. MMC Reed is a fun loving, flirtatious EMT, who is also Ava’s brothers best friend. Reed is sweet, caring, protective and naughty (wink, wink). They are the definition of opposites attract and after a drunken weekend in Vegas for their best friends elopement, end up married themselves. I love the marriage of convenience/fake marriage trope! Ava REALLY did need to let her hair down though. She was wound so, so very tight. The friends and family in the book also shone with their ability to support the couple.
Ava is focused on her career as a doctor, and she lives her life by the rules which doesn’t leave her much time for fun. When circumstances unfold and she finds herself unexpectedly married to Reed she is concerned that the end result could affect her career so they agree to remain married.
Reed is a good man and a paramedic who is always there for anyone in need and that includes Ava. He views their marriage as an opportunity to finally pursue the woman he has feelings for but it wasn’t without its challenges.
I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Reed and Ava unfold as they must not only deal with the emotional turmoil of the past but the challenges that their marriage brings both personally and professionally.
Midnight and Marriage by Megan Ryder makes a great addition to the Welcome to Kissing Springs series. This enemies to lovers, best friend, small-town, medical romance is one I couldn’t put down. It is well-written, engaging, has wonderful characters, and is full of heart. Ava and Reed make a surprisingly charming pair. Ava is cautious, determined, and goal oriented. Reed is protective, lives in the moment, and easy-going. They both love family and their careers. They have bantering with one another perfected and share some unexpected twists that make their story entertaining and worth the read.

This is a stand alone read in the multi-author "Kissing Springs-Midnight Season" series set in the small town of Kissing Springs. This is surprisingly a full length story most of the stories set in Kissing Springs are not. This one is about Ava, Reed and a Vegas wedding. Ava wakes up in bed with her co-worker and her brother's best friend and there is more to that story. I enjoyed their journey from a marriage mistake to so much more. It is a good witty and emotional story with some great banter, passion and humor. "Some mistakes weren’t mistakes at all. Some were just fate in disguise."
Ava and Reed work together, he has a rule no dating in the work place although the sparks between them are real. Then they find themselves in Las Vegas and throw caution to the winds. Can this pretend marriage survive given Ava's penchant for leaving before she's the one left.
Its a great read that we've come to expect from Ms Ryder. The characters are well developed and the story line is easy to follow. As always there is a happily ever after. Absolutely recommend this book. Its part of a collaboration series with multiple authors but its a stand alone and can be read as such.
Ava is a single doctor who works in the emergency department at the hospital. Ava Spencer goes to Las Vegas with her best friend Rachel. Reed is a single man who works for the Emergency Medical Services. Reed Campbell goes to Vegas with his best friend Kyle. When they get there Kyle and Rachel tell them they are getting married in Vegas because of their wedding planning was going haywire at home. After Rachel and Kyle’s wedding Ava and Reed have a great time together. This is such a fun book to read.

Dr. Ava Spencer is an ER doctor. Reed Campbell is an EMT whose laid back personality stirs her up every time they are in each others’ presence. Ending up in Vegas is a true life-changer for them when, after a bit of excessive drinking, they wake up married and in bed together. Rather than make a fuss and draw attention to their situation, they go along until they can figure out a way to fix this! Instead, their differences stop seeming as important anymore, and they realize they might be falling in love! And maybe that’s ok!
Ave was an emergency room doctor. She has her life planned, hoping to get a permanent position in the emergency room. Reed is an EMT and loves to fluster Ava, teasing and jokes. He figures he’s safe sine he has a policy of not dating anyone from the hospital. Now Ava’s best friend and her are going to Vegas for a girls night before Rachel ties the knot. What can happen to them with laying by the pool and seeing a couple of shows? Remember it’s Vegas!!
Vegas wedding...with a side of guilt! Ava and Reed know each other as he is friends with her brother and an EMT in their town. One weekend away in Vegas and they know each other in a whole different way! I love Reed! He falls first and fast but is constantly hurt by Ava. Only complaint is he doesn't make her grovel more.

This one features an uptight career woman and an easy going man that regularly cross pathing where they work. Now they cross paths in Vegas and we know what happens in Vegas never stays in Vegas. This was a great soulful read.

Ava is certainly a bit high strung and not a fan of Reed at the beginning but throw in a trip to Vegas, a job that is slipping through her fingers and we get a delightful story of how they need to make things work after tying the knot to save face and well if there are sparks even better!.

Dr. Eva’s vacation time ends up a trip that’s absolutely divine and a hell of a time . ..A drunken mistake with Reed her brother’s best friend . Dr. Ava doesn’t even know she likes his flavour . But full of fervour he is as well as easy on the eye . But does he deserve her? Of course he does ,nobody dotes on her like he does . This cute couple are a sure thing as far as he’s concerned . But Ava she may as well have him spurned . As her love he has yearned. You see Ava Spencer is an E.R.Doc who’s ready to settle down ,family the lot . Reed Campbell her coworker is also her brother’s best friend. How the heck did they get to go to Vegas to tie the knot in the end? Well I ain’t telling ,just Reed ( sorry couldn’t resist) the book and find out for yourself . I’ll tell you this for free . It’s full of heat and mercy me ,top shelf ,a brilliant story . Wonderfully written ,well Megan Ryder has been around and her surefire storytelling is most sound and profound and ever so compelling as well as immersive and entertaining storytelling. Love this whole series and this certainly appease. More ? Yes please!. Excellently penned and I’m certain on these books and the wonderful authors in the whole series we can depend. Bravo, top notch read ,just as I knew it would be Megan Ryder , thanks lovely, I loved every immersive bit of this ,it was surefire bliss.
This was an emotional ride that was funny, sweet and an attraction that Ava and Reed didn't know whether to give into or deny. She's a serious doctor and he's a EMT that takes life as it comes. They get married in Vegas while drunk. After returning home will they try for a future together? A very enjoyable read! Received a free copy.
Ava and Reed are connected because of their professions. They are opposites that make for a great story. They take a trip to Vegas and get drunk. They wake up to find a new future, but is it a mistake. The characters are well written and compliment each other.

What Happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas...that's the saying, right? What happens when marriage is involved...does that stay in Vegas also? Great story, characters and addition to the Midnight Season for Kissing Springs.

I think this book is puke be great for someone else. I had to DNF then start it up again all because it was written in 3 POV. Once I forced myself to read it, it was okay. The romance and drama was doing it for me ! If this wasn’t written the way it was, I would have given it a higher rating.

Enemies or Lovers? It’s Vegas, Baby! Amazing. One over-stressed ER doctor hoping for a promotion. One flirty perpetually single EMT. Now let’s factor in that both are heading to Las Vegas to celebrate with their best friends. You figure out where the gold bands tie in when they return home.

A great story! Read in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down, loved Reed and championed him from the beginning. Their combined pasts gave them a strong connection towards their HEA. Recommend to all that love a small town romance.
Sweet story from a drunken Vegas oops to a plan. He characters seem real and the sentiment and story flow really well. The emotion is palpable throughout parts of the story and it keeps the reader engrossed.
