Tortured Soul is the 1st book of The Soulless Series. It's a Fast-paced, post-apocalyptic, Reverse Harem Romance featuring Demons, Angels, and many other types of supernatural beings.
Recently freed from her obligations to hell, Lola is now a lone 1500 years old Succubus wandering a dangerous world. Finding refuge among other immortals in what appears to be a human-deserted place, she’s quick to realize that nothing is as it seems.
Divines and Hellrisers might be getting along, but one Angel is out for her throat, seemingly not affected by her charms, while another immortal is hellbent on keeping her at his side.
But everyone holds secrets.
And Lola won’t let them get close enough to unravel hers.
Good thing she has a powerful Nephilim on her side...
I fear I need this right now or I will perish 5 stars already shut up are you kidding FEED ME IT
updated review: ok so this will be an auto buy author for me, I absolutely LOVED this, it felt like a mesh of all my favourite fantasy books rolled into one glorious story, but it still had its own distinct style, i love anything dystopian with angels/demons etc, I took my time reading this because I didn't want it to end I could of stayed in this world forever, the writing is scrumptious, the chemistry was sizzling and the banter had me giggling and kicking my feet! the characters felt 100% real and I'm kinda depressed they're not, you ever read a book so good you get sad its all just made up 😭 ill probably add more to this review I've just finished and I'm like...well what now? I can't wait for the next book!
I fear I messed up by getting the ARC bc now I have to wait even longer for the next one!
If you're a fan of Tessa Hale, Jaymin Eve, Isla Davon and E.P. Bali - you will love this. I felt enraptured within the first chapter, the writing style is very easy to read, the FMC is snarky and takes no shit, meanwhile the MMC's have you blushing and giggling....not to mention the jaw dropping cliffhanger 🫠
Cannot wait to see where this story develops! Thanks Laetitia for allowing me to be an early reader ✨
"He felt holy. He felt like sin. I felt like I either needed to light him on fire and run or jump his bones and ride him until I could barely breathe." Crying, screaming, and praying to the goddess for a reverse harem love story as tantalizing as this one!
This book offers a fresh perspective into a dystopian world of angels and demons and all the delicious things they can get tangled up in or should I say who they get tangled up with? The character building is done well and the intricate storyline leaves you wanting more when your done. Sprinkling in some steamy scenes and yearning that don't take away from the plot of the book is a great choice because who doesn't want a little angel and demon action.... hehehe 😉
The overall pacing is good. Moving the storyline without dragging it out for the sake of a word count. There's decent world building with a lot of backstory flashbacks sprinkled in to add to the overall character development. This helps you understand the FMC motivations and thought processes. We do get a little backstory on the MMCs. The ending leads to a gear up to flesh out more of the MMCs backstories in subsequent books.
Overall, this is a top recommended book for me as the story is fun and engaging and fresh. I've already recommended it to several friends to read! I can't wait for my special edition to arrive!
I was an ARC reader and I did receive this book for free.
If you're here because you saw that art on tiktok, lemme tell you now, its deliciously accurate and that scene was sooo good. Now the review: ALL THE CUSS WORDS. I'm speechless, withering away in despair and shock. This book consumed my entire brain and robbed me of a piece of my sanity. I will be unwell until book 2 is out. This Angels and Demons (which includes dragons!!) story was so unbelievably good. First of all, an RH with a sassy and hilarious FMC is always a hit with me. Add in some bullying, some hot and cold and disgust, and instalust and love (they went on a journey lol) and baby were cooking up a 5 star read. The angst and agony in this book was enough to torture my soul and I fear I will feel this pain until I see the HEA. Lastly, this was a Dystopian-ish dream with throw backs to AD times! I love, loveeeee stories about after the humans finding out that what goes bump in the night is real and fallen angels exist.. of course humans being garbage and destroying the world because they're idiots always makes it better imo because its so true. I want to say a million more things but they'd be spoilers so ill stop yapping and leave it here.
I received an arc for this book and I feel so lucky !
This story was so good ! I had a good time then again it’s Reverse harem so … my kind of read. the written was so smooth and mature . Lola is amazing I love fmc like her who can stand for herself ! There is so much secrets in this story that you don’t know who you can trust not even the fmc since everyone in this book seems to hid something 😭 The plot line is a bit slow but isn’t disturbing the story since there is so much details that need to be introduced for the next books. I knew someone will be a betrayer and I guess correctly that was a bit obvious but still it hurt. My favorite boy is Dimitri of course but that could change in the future… The book isn’t out yet and I already need book 2 😭
HOLY FUCKING AIRBALL THIS SLAPPED SO HARD????? like?? I haven’t been this invested in AGES. my brain has been running a constant play-by-play like it’s the champions league final.
and the STORY??? the layers??? it’s like a little cake built with delicious, dangerous, unhinged tiers and I’ve eaten every single crumb because apparently I don’t value my sanity anymore. I am actually unwell. I need the next book NOW. N O W.
ok so my thoughts gathered (barely): Lola 💅🏼🫦 my queen, my boss-ass bitch, my obsession. her past?? I have theories, so many theories and I want to know so much more UGHHH. Arc 🥵🫡 the RESTRAINT on that man??? impeccable. I could never. Carter 🖤🪽🪽 my sweet, damaged, fallen angel… let me hold you, babe.
But Dimitri. No. DIMITRI. 😭😭😭😭 YES. JUST YES. I am screaming, I am feral, I want him in ways that are not legal in several countries. he is literal perfection and I am DOWN BAD. and then BLAKE??? can’t say anything about you but damn am I waiting for you. and the fact that there’s ONE MORE after that??? no because this series is about to become my entire personality.
I’m hooked. I’m obsessed. I’m questioning everything and everyone and also possibly my own moral compass. send help—or the next book. preferably the next book💅🏼🫦❤️🔥💀 this NEEDS to blowup. booktok WHY are you sleeping on this???
This was my first ever ARC that I’ve received, I’m not a bookstagrammer or a booktoker, I’m just a girl who loves to read and then talk books with her friends and trade recommendations so when I finally got this arc approval I was pumped but also NERVOUS(!)
So first the initial feelings were that it was SO much fun to be a part of this arc reading group. The book was written well and the characters were flushed out enough that I wasn’t annoyed but enough information had been held back where you know it was on purpose and you’ll be getting it in the next books. The hierarchy of immortals was easy to follow and the world itself was interesting! In terms of world building, I was only confused once. This is a dystopian novel that takes place in a city behind walls, there was a mortal/immortal war that went on for decades but I’m confused on just ~how~ desolate the world is. Are we talking The Book of Eli movie desolate or hunger games desolate? Is everything a wasteland or just people more spread out now?
The characters, oh BABY the characters, were so entertaining to read! And I love how intelligent Lola is. She knows when something is up in her gut and doesn’t just brush it off like other heroines might. She digs down. And she’s mature! It’s so nice to read an FMC that’s over a thousand years old but also acts like an adult! When something with a friend upset her, she says give me the time to think about it and investigate to see if these thoughts are even sound. HELLO MATURE LADY!!
I don’t feel like the relationships were rushed and I love how we technically got introduced to 4 either physically or through stories. And they’re all on different levels. That’s really refreshing, sometimes with RH stories each one moves at the same pace regardless of how they feel about each other but here it was like: here’s one guy I’ve known forever, here’s the story of one but you won’t physically meet him yet, here’s another that’s curious, here’s one that is against it. And I know by the end of the series everyone will be grand but ugh it’s so nice to see it progress at different speeds for the different people.
I usually hate reading books that aren’t in a finished series and now I have to go through the pain of waiting not only for the second book, but for the first one to come out too! But this was worth it and a great first ARC experience. I believe if you love RH, urban fantasy, dystopian etc, you should give this a try when it comes out!
This book had me hooked from page one. The suspense, the intricate plot, the sizzling sexual tension, and the delicious angst—it’s everything I crave in a paranormal romance. What truly sets it apart is the dynamic female main character, Lola. She’s not your typical heroine; she’s a 1500+ year-old succubus, the first of her kind, and she owns every scene she’s in. I adored that she’s older than most of the male leads—though calling it an “age gap” feels ironic when some of them are ancient beings themselves 🤭.
We’re introduced to a few of her mates, each bringing their own flavor of chaos and desire:
• Dimitri: Her first lover, dangerously obsessed, and absolutely my favorite 😍. The quintessential bad boy with layers of intensity. • Carter: The one who hates her, adding a delicious dose of tension and unresolved history. • Arc: The one who wants her, mysterious and compelling in his own right.
The world-building is lush and imaginative, weaving together Devines, Demons, and Earthwalkers in a way that feels fresh and immersive. Lola’s journey—from being released from her contract in Hell to arriving at a camp meant to protect her—sets the stage for an adventure that’s anything but predictable. Every twist kept me guessing, and I loved that I couldn’t anticipate what would happen next.
And that ending? That cliffhanger? The snippets from the next book? Holy moly 🔥—I was not ready. I need the sequel yesterday.
If you’re into powerful heroines, complex relationships, and a world brimming with magic and danger, this series is a must-read. I’m officially obsessed.
Troupe
Reverse Harem / Way Choose 5 fated mates Enemies to lovers Second chances Forced proximity Possessive / jealous mmc’s Building harem Angels / Demon / Hibrid Slow burn
This had me hooked from the start and now I’m sitting here dreading the fact I have to wait even longer for the next book. All of the characters are so fleshed out and even without knowing their full backstories yet you get a sense of their personalities so well and why they act the way they do.
I wish there would have been slightly more world building in the beginning, however I do know that this is one of six books so I’m sure we’ll get more background as the series goes on. Overall this was the first 5 star read I’ve had in a while and I cannot wait to see where this series goes! (Desperately waiting for Carter’s full backstory.)
Also, completely floored at the sneak peak for book 2! I need it now!! Thank you to the author for the opportunity to be an ARC reader of this amazing book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tortured Souls by Laetitia Aldin completely hooked me! I could not put it down I devoured it in one sitting. The banter is top-tier, the chemistry between the characters had me grinning like an idiot, and the mates dynamic? Perfection. I’m already desperate for the second book because I need more of this world and these characters! If you love fast-paced reads with addictive dialogue and swoon-worthy connections, definitely check this one out!
are you kidding me? this is like crack. I need the next one NOW!
can’t decide which of Lola’s men is my favorite but I need more of them and their banter immediately!
the characters are well thought out, the world building and magic system are unique and well done, the story is mostly plot-driven with believable character development in between.
First off, I was immediately sucked into the story. Literally page 1 and I was LOCKED in. I can’t think of another book that this has happened with.
THE WRITING. Laetitia, I don’t know what you did or how you did it, but I feel like I just watched a movie. I could picture so many scenes because of how captivating your writing is. ALSO, the amount of times I reread a scene just so I could feel something again.. more please.
Let’s talk about our FMC. I absolutely loved being in Lola’s head - Her internal dialogue is so funny and relatable. The amount of times she kept her mouth shut when another character would say the rudest thing.. love a sensible queen.
Now onto the romance. Reverse harems are so fun (because duh who wouldn’t want more than one) but when not done correctly they can be distracting to the plot. That was absolutely not the case here. And the MMC’s.. I’ll take one of each, please.
Thank you so much Laetitia for the ARC. I am so glad I came across your page while doom scrolling and I am so excited to continue the series!
I had the absolute honor of beta reading Tortured Soul, and I loved every second of it. This series holds a special place in my heart. Some of my all-time favorite book boyfriends live in these pages.
I seriously loved this book so much. The characters, the story. I love why choose and this was done so incredibly well. I can’t wait for the rest of the series!
I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this book and I’m so glad I was because I devoured it. The story was immersive and I immediately fell in love with the characters and felt like I was living in their world. I love the way she world builded this story so much. Im probably going to re read this a few times because I need the next book like yesterday. The banter in this story is so good as well. I found myself giggling and smiling while reading.
Tortured Soul completely surprised me—in the best way possible. From the first few pages, I was hooked. The story is fast-paced, the world-building is immersive without being overwhelming, and the characters? So well-crafted that I found myself deeply invested in their journeys.
What really stood out for me was the slow-burning character development. You don’t get everything upfront—instead, Laetitia Aldin expertly sprinkles just enough detail throughout the story to keep you guessing and piecing things together. When those “aha!” moments hit, they really hit. The backstories were rich and meaningful, not just thrown in for drama, and they added real depth to the characters’ actions and motivations.
I'm excited to learn more about Lola's backstory and mates. Dimitri is absolutely my favorite, and the ending had my mouth on the floor!!!!
If you're into fast-paced, character-driven fantasy with addictive dialogue, emotional stakes, and a good dose of supernatural intrigue, Tortured Soul is definitely worth picking up.
This was my first ARC ever, and I really enjoyed it! Thank you, Laetitia
Uhm, hello, hi, excuse me? What exactly did you put in this book? I devoured it in one siting!! It quickly became one of my 6 ⭐️ reads. It had everything I could have asked for ✨️I liked that the world building wasn't just an info dump and that it was carefully constructed ✨️I liked where the plot was going, and truthfully I am a bit scared for the second book. I feel bad things coming their way 🥹 ✨️I also am a sucker for RH paranormal romances, and boy did this one deliver ✨️Our FMC Lola is a baddie, who just wants a frickin' break and a coffee. I feel you girl 😂 her character is beautifully written and I can not wait to see her juggle all her fated mates without a soul 🥹 ✨️So far, we have met 3 of her fated mates and I call dibs on Dimitri 🥹 that man is utter perfection, not to mention mad ❤️ what more could you ask for? ✨️I loved Carter, am really curious about why he is being such a douche, but that just makes me love him more 😂 ✨️ Arc is imposing and controlling and authoritative and he made me melt 🥹
I do not have the words to describe what I'm feeling whenever I read an amazing book, such as this one. You could say it feels a lot like home for me ❤️ I am so frickin' lucky to have been part of the ARC team for this book. Please go read it and thank me later 🥰
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I was very lucky to receive an ARC for this book and for the past few days it has occupied my mind at all times. I cannot fully explain how I’ve managed to function whilst not reading it.
For me the world building took a little time to work out but after a few chapters I was fully hooked to the dystopian world that was created in these pages. The fact that this book focuses around angels and demons and felt like heaven and sin to read just put the cherry on top.
This book ticked boxes I didn’t even know existed, whilst also meeting all of my favourite tropes. I love fated mates, enemies to lovers and found family and this book gave me that and so much more.
I cannot wait for the next book and need to get my hands on a physical copy for my bookshelves (a trophy book).
For anyone not sure whether to pick this book up, here is my favourite quote!
“Like kissing me gave him his first inhale of breath after suffocating for years.”
This book had me smiling to myself, laughing out loud and feeling every emotion for each character. Laetitia Aldin knows exactly what to do to fully immerse a reader.
Waiting for the next book may be one of the hardest things I will have to do.
It has been a while since I felt a book needed four stars and I'm super glad I picked this one up. spoilers.
Alright I am gonna break this down by category so I can formulate thoughts better!
FMC: I really liked her, I wish she had a few less bratty moments and could be genuine with another person for a real conversation but I'm hoping that happens in book two. Her back story is really well thought out and her behavior towards every makes sense because we get to know so much about her in a short period of time. It was hard to read the sections about her being assaulted and how people view her. As a woman it's hard to realize that how you are dressed or how you are perceived by others holds so much of your worth. I know it was in context to her being a succubus but anyone who has been assaulted or had verbal abuse can relate to that empty and angry feeling she portrays in this book.
MMC: Before I jump in individually I want to say I really like how this author is setting up the group and their dynamic. It's a nice introduction to the actual characters and allows us time with each person. I will say though we needed more dual pov, if it's dual pov don't go 60 percent of the book before we add someone else's pov. We could've really gotten to know the other characters in a way that was not just from our FMCs opinions. Arc- I want to know what this man is hiding. What is he protecting everyone from? Did he see this in a vision? I can't wait to see what happens next I need answers. I liked how even though he's billed as the big boss he isn't an asshole like RH usually does with that role. He gets to be kind and push her to be open and still be in charge and that was a super nice change of pace. Carter- I will say I am super torn about Carter. The fact that he knew she was meant to be his mate and he beat her when she came to the town......just I don't know. I see where it's coming from the voices in his head being pretty largely the issue but it's hard as the reader to route for the guy that physicians abused her. We like our love rough at times, but not abusive. I also don't feel like he was even close to redeemed by books end. He wasn't even decent to our FMC one time, and now they will have to get closer in book two because the other two were captured. Dimitri- I wanted more I suppose.....and going back to arc and Carter real quick, our FMC yells that Dimitri has never treated her badly? Can we relive the scene in the 70s when he was horrible to her and left her alone to sit there for 24 hours silently falling apart to then not be seen again for almost a century. Girl he did worse. Maybe not the physical abuse from Carter but emotionally? come on. I think that's why I held back from enjoying this character that much, he did some shitty stuff and never apologized and just took back up where he left off in the 70s before their fight. overall the romance is doing good, we have the slow burn connection building and I'll admit I'm annoyed we will be staring book two with two of them captured because it means we will just have Carter for a bit and meh.
plot: I will admit I have no clue where this going right now. It seemed to start pretty simple with hell and demons etc, we then get the details of the war, the human issues and fights and the fact that everyone in this book is lying to one another. everyone has a secret they are hiding and it effects whose pov we are allowed to see and all the relationships. but I am on this rollercoaster and I am EXTREMELY mad at myself for not realizing the next book isn't out until March
"What, would you have preferred my Hellriser's side to throw you over that table to f*ck you in front of Carter, Carrie, and Dimitri?"
I am officially obsessed with this book! I will be thinking about this book for a while! I want to read it again!
I love the world of Demons, Angels, and maybeee Dragons! The character building was great! I know we have so much more to learn about everyone, but it seems like we already know them so well! There is some steamy scenes that make you blush and giggle!
The pace of the story was perfect! It did not feel like it was dragging on at any point of the story! I love that we get the back stories of the FMC, and why she is the way she is.
I loveeeee Dimitri!! He definitely loves stirring the pot! He is basically the ideal bad boy!! I know he will do anything for Lola!
Arc I need him to let his Demon out! Like I feel like ill cheering him on once he finally lets that side out!
Carter my poor boy! He needs a really big hug and to get laid! Lol I do love all of them though, but Dimitri is my favorite! I definitely need more of him!
I can not believe I have to wait for book two now... *throws tantrum*
The artwork videos got me on TikTok, and this book did NOT disappoint!! It was such an enjoyable fun time reading this book. I think I just needed something different to read at the moment so I picked this one up on a whim. Angels, demons, all things paranormal plus make it a reverse harem/why choose? Sign me tf upppp. Binged it all in a day! I can't wait for book 2 already.
I enjoyed the pacing of the book. The different POVs and also the few flashbacks were well done and well placed within the book too. It gave great context in the characters and their development.
I love Lola as a character. She's a strong FMC with some obvious trauma due to her classification, but she handles it very well. I am deeply intrigued in her soulmates, and how everything will play out with that. I'm definitely going to recommend this to friends and also convince them with the art.
What do you mean I have to wait for book 2? Are you sure it isn’t time for the sequel’s release? I seriously could not put this book down and was so upset when I realized I was at the end.
Despite the majority of the book taking place in one area, there was a lot of diversity in the scenes and they didn’t feel recycled or boring. Each visit to a place gave more background on the characters and relationships were built in familiar settings to the readers.
The author does a really good job in getting you interested in the characters. Information about each character is slowly revealed and little bits of information is scattered throughout the book, giving you eureka moments when everything clicks together. The reveal of certain backstories also push for some character development. It’s nice to see characters have a reasoning behind their actions instead of them just doing something because the author said so.
In addition to this, the supernatural aspects of this book were a breath of fresh air. The hierarchy was super interesting to read about and it wasn’t overwhelming in terms of how much information there was to digest. It felt nice to be reading something new. And honestly, this book has pulled me out of my big reading slump!
There's only one thing you need to know about this book.
WHY CHOOSE 🫠😏
Three men. No, sorry, three celestial beings. All of them obsessed with the very first, OG Succubus!
And bitch do I want to trade my place with her!!! HELL YES I DO!!!!! Especially because of DIMITRI 🤣 Laë knows I'm forever absofuckinlutely obsessed with him, and I fell in love with him the second I saw the art she shared on TT to hook us.. Fuck yes it worked 🤣
Please do yourself a favor and read this book, because these three fine men are waiting to meet you and spoil you with some quality time 😏
You won't regret, because the art is as good as the story!
Thank you for letting me beta read this for you, and making me fall for yet another fictional man 🤭🖤
There's spice, lore, tension (a lot of it), action, humor and emotions.
I loved the background story of the FMC(FFS I can't remember her name 🤣🫣💀) about meeting Dimitri(yes, his name I will never forget 😝) and about becoming a Succubus..
I am already upset that the second book is not in my hands. I immediately loved Lola and her personality. She’s fun, loves to cause trouble, and truly might be the best kind of brat, but she also has another side that comes from her traumatic life. Despite that she is a strong woman who was so fun to read. My favorite kind of FMC. I CANNOT WAIT to learn more about her backstory and how she will handle her boys. The cliffhanger that it leaves on and the lead up to it made me scream loud enough that my dog came running to make sure I was okay. And he’s used to all of the noises I make when reading. I’m quite upset that the boys were made lovable, even with their flaws, but for that cliffy, if what is happening is truly happening oh BOY I can’t wait to see Lola’s anger. These boys have no idea that they should never make their woman upset.
I was an ARC reader for this book, and absolutely loved it.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review....
*makes grabby hands at author* gimme the next one neeeeeeooooooooowwww!
I ate this book up in one day! It was such a fun read, the characters were so entertaining, I loved the FMC and her take no bs attitude. I always enjoy the idea that just because you are fated mates doesn't mean that you get along immediately with no growing pains, and let's be honest that one guy definitely should get his ass handed to him at least one more time (iykyk)
I was really excited to be chosen as an ARC reader, but now I'm a little sad that I'm going to have to wait even longer for book 2 to come out. I'll be waiting....
Don’t just walk but run when this book is released, it needs to immediately be on your TBR list. I devoured this book, Lola is hilarious and sassy, the mate dynamic is top tier and if the artwork is what drew you to the book just like it did with me, then you won’t be disappointed.
I desperately need book 2, I don’t know how I’m going to survive.
Thank you Laetitia Aldin for allowing me to be an ARC reader 🤩
Oh my gosh where do I even begin!! This book is so good and I’m so upset that there isn’t a second book for me to read yet! I am obsessed with the main character and can’t wait to see how she progresses throughout the books. I highly recommend!!
I was so honored to receive an ARC copy of this book! This book was soooo fun!!! I loved all the characters and the trauma was 👩🏼🍳💋 and the smut 👀 needless to say I am extremely excited to continue the series when it comes out!! Highly recommend reading if you like authors like Jasmine Mas and books like Zodiac Academy.
From the very first chapter, Tortured Soul pulled me in. I couldn’t put it down, yet I didn’t want it to end.
Set in a dystopian world, the story follows a 1,500-year-old succubus who has been freed from her obligations in hell. As she searches for a new place to call home and disappear, she discovers so much more than she ever expected.
I found this book incredibly engaging, with an easy-to-read writing style and pacing that kept me hooked from start to finish. The dystopian setting that Laetitia has crafted feels both fresh and immersive, and I’m excited to dive deeper into this world as the series continues. (Yes, I’ve already ordered the special edition!)
Overall, this is a fantastic read for anyone craving a new series that blends dystopia with angels, demons, succubi, fated mates, and just the right amount of spice.
A huge thank-you to Laetitia for the ARC - I can’t wait to see where the series goes next!
