Peter Brown is an American writer and illustrator who is best known for children's picture books.
"Peter has always loved telling stories. Growing up in New Jersey, he told stories by drawing whimsical characters and scenes from his imagination. Then, as a teenager, he fell in love with writing, and told his tales with words. While studying illustration at Art Center College of Design, Peter’s love of both words and pictures led him to take several courses on children’s books, and before long he knew he’d found his calling.
After graduating from Art Center Peter moved to New York City to be closer to the publishing industry. He was working on animated TV shows when he signed a book deal to write and illustrate his first picture book, Flight of the Dodo. Peter quickly signed up his second and third books, and his career as an author and illustrator of children’s books was under way.
Peter’s books have earned him numerous honors, including a Caldecott Honor (2013) for Creepy Carrots!, two E.B. White Awards and an E.B. White Honor, a New York Times Best Illustrated Book award, a Children’s Choice Award for Illustrator of the Year, two Irma Black Honors, and five New York Times bestsellers.
Peter lives in Brooklyn, New York."

These 3 books were so fun! We started reading these chapter books when my son was 4 yrs old, there were enough drawing scene depictions to keep him interested, but they were very much his introduction to chapters and having to use his imagination to create the scenes. Read the first book before we saw the movie & we were hooked! Make sure you have book 2 on hand when you finish book 1 because both my kiddo and I were bawling our eyes out & NEEDED to know what happened next!

These books made me want to read on and on.The books have short chapters so it feels like a short book but its not. I would recommend these books to kids who like adventure books.

I just finished reading the third book in the trilogy of The Wild Robot called the The Wild Robots proctects. This is a good book to share with your children and grandchildren. I liked reading it with my grandchildren.
The author said of the third book:
The most important idea of the books is home.
He wanted to show the interconnectedness of life in the water and on land and in the air.
I like this quote very much:
When they passed under an old oak tree, Roz explained that old trees could support a broad swath of forest. "Underground, their roots entwine with the roots of their neighbors," she said. "Through that connection, they share water and nutrients and even information. The forest is a diverse community of living things which is linked together by old trees, this oak."
"Grandma, you have a lot in common with that oak tree," said Quickwit.
"Yeah, you're always helping others and bringing everyone together," said Monorail.
"Maybe this tree is a grandma too!" said Widestride
I hope I can be the kind of grandma Roz is.

Book one: "The Wild Robot is the story of Roz, a newly manufactured robot who becomes a castaway on an island with no human inhabitants when the ship transporting her sinks during a hurricane. The other crates holding the robot cargo are destroyed, but Roz remains the sole survivor. When she is accidentally activated by some curious otters, Roz awakens to find there is no one there to assign tasks to her. She is free to explore the island and needs to learn how to survive.
Roz learns how to camouflage herself, and by observing the animals of the island she learns how to speak and understand their language."
Book two: "The Wild Robot’s story continues in this sequel. Ros wakes up to find herself on a farm. She has been reprogrammed to do farm work, and acting like an assistant manager to the farmer, she ensures all the tasks on the farm are completed. This includes looking after the cows, machinery, buildings etc. The farmer looks after the accounts etc."

When student teaching a second grade class last semester. The teacher was reading this book to the students and they were always engaged and when the teacher asked them questions about the book, they knew the answer right away. Even though the story doesn't have any pictures it's easy to imagine the scenes in your head because how well it's described. Adding on, the story is kid friendly and has a movie to go with it.

Loved the entire series. Read it with my nephew and found so many sweet moments about family, community, looking beyond what you see. I think this series is so great for kids and adults too. I was so charmed by Roz and the way she saw life and experienced new things. She was courageous and loving and set out to do the right things. High praise for this wonderful series.

I loved it. I think the whole series is fantastic and each book is distinct from the others, but also ties into the others. I thought it was expertly written and look forward to reading it with kids.
