I’m so desperate for a date to my cousin’s wedding, I’ll take anyone. Even the mysterious black sheep Stone brother everyone is whispering about.
It all started with the usual badgering phone call from my mother that had me spouting out the lie that I’d be bringing my boyfriend to my cousin’s wedding. Only problem? I’m very much single.
Roman Stone is the man I’d heard so much about but never met. Until he carries a bag of flour into my bakery. The size of a refrigerator, with tattoos and muscles to spare, he is something straight out of my fantasies. Add in his adorable pink puff of a daughter, and I’m smitten. Which is why I blurt out a request for him to attend the wedding with me.
Despite his rough exterior, he is my knight in shining armor, agreeing to spend the weekend with me. He protects me from rude family members, reminds me to be confident, and rewards me with the hottest night of my life.
But what we found in that hotel room is more than the weekend, and I can’t help falling for this grumpy single dad. I just don’t know if the skeletons in his closet will come back to haunt him or us.
For The Weekend is the final book in the Stone Family Series. Don't miss out on this grumpy sunshine fake dating romance.
Sophie Andrews’ latest was a joy to read! I fell in love with Roman and Eloise right away, and the foul-mouthed Mazie stole every one of her scenes.
Without spoiling this delightful and long-awaited novella about Roman, the youngest and arguably most complicated Stone sibling finding love with Eloise who’s a fully realized person in her own right, a bada$$ entrepreneur and an unapologetically queen-sized woman. The way they are so perfectly suited to each other is obvious from the first moment they encounter each other, and the way Eloise gels so well with Mazie is believable and admirable. There are some rocky moments, but it’s impossible not to root for them. There’s steam and so much heart, it’s the perfect conclusion to this series.
I received an advance reader copy from the author, and I’m sharing my honest review.
I devoured this book faster than Eloise's bakery could bake a batch of cupcakes.
After following the Stone siblings—Griffin, Taryn, and Ian—it was finally Roman’s turn, and his story was worth the wait.
Once the estranged brother who left town and made more than his share of mistakes, Roman returns home with his daughter, determined to give her a better life and prove he's changed. His journey as a recovering addict and devoted single dad is heartfelt and easy to root for.
Then there’s Eloise, the radiant, plus-size baker adored by her small town, who lights up every scene she’s in. She's warm, sassy, and full of heart, and her connection with Roman feels so natural. Their adorable meet-cute leads to a fake date that quickly turns into something real, full of spark, heat, and vulnerability.
I loved how they brought out the best in each other. Eloise helped Roman see he's deserving of love, and he reminded her she's perfect just the way she is. With emotion, small-town charm, sweet sibling banter, and a satisfying HEA, this story hit all the right notes for me.

Grateful to Sophie Andrew’s and her Team for providing this Advanced Reader Copy. All views expressed are solely my own. ✨
What a cute story!! Eloise is the sunshiney, ADHD baker, and Roman is the bad boy single dad who’s just come back to town after years away. Their meet-cute on his first day back was adorable and honestly, it was all uphill for him from there.
Roman is a recovering addict who’s been working so hard to turn his life around since becoming a dad, and he’s doing such an amazing job!
I loved watching him, his daughter, and Eloise together, it was so sweet. It was also really touching how his family just accepted him back; he really needed that. Even if griffin was very grumpy about it haha.
But the chef’s kiss moment was the cameo from my ex-boyfriend 😂😂 A year ago, Sophie asked us to name a “douche” character for her new book and Kyle was my pick. I completely forgot about it until he showed up, and I could not stop laughing. Thank you so much, Sophie, for the amazing book and the hilarious callout it absolutely made my life
“You said I’m beautiful. No one’s ever called me that before.” “Oh.” She tucks a few strands of hair behind her ear. “Well. You are. I mean, behind all the mean mugging.”
I have been waiting on the last Stone brother since the 1st book. This series is just so refreshing and I love that all the main couples are over 30 years old. These are normal problems and realistic feelings and relationships. The spice is spicing and this one was no exception. The dirty talk is there, the toys are there, the 'will it fit' is there. I love the grumpy sunshine aspect of this couple. So cute and how he loves her loud, rambling, always at 100. I really like how the family came together. Those Stones are so good. I want more of Sloane. I want more of all Ian's kids. Watching the hea's from all the Stone's was by far my favorite. I will be reading the next book about the athlete with the bad attitude and babysitter. Who is is love interest going to be?!??!
I received this book as an ARC, but the review is completely independent and reflects my genuine thoughts, feelings, and opinions.
Roman Stone is the elusive Stone sibling. We have heard about him in previous books, but he has been MIA. Until now when he shows back up in his hometown wanting to make amends for those who he has ghosted. And to introduce him to someone very special – his daughter Mazie.
🩷Single dad 🩷Grumpy x sunshine 🩷Fake dating 🩷Small town romance
Eloise is the sweet and adorable owner of the local bakery. She is sunshine personified and she brings all the light to those around her; even Roman, who never smiles and is the grumpiest refrigerator (IYKYK) to ever walk the earth.
Roman’s character development was so great to see. We only have seen him as this mysterious brother who was going through hard stuff, but now we get to see him on the other side. And see him as a father, which was so beautiful!
These two don’t make sense on the outside, but their souls are totally connected in so many ways. Their connection and chemistry was off the charts!
All series long I have been waiting for Roman's story - having already fallen in love with his siblings Griffin, Taryn, and Ian. His life after leaving his home town was full of poor decisions and difficulties, and he doesn't feel he deserves love. (Spoiler ... he does.)
Eloise has a flourishing bakery, and is adored by the town. Unfortunately, she's struggling with other's opinions that she is just "too much": personality, weight, etc. (Spoiler ... she's not.)
The emotions and feelings in this one were really easy to connect with, empathize with, and enjoy. I loved the way the siblings reconnected with him, and how the relationship with Eloise progressed.
This has it all... heartwarming expressions, steamy times, sweet exchanges, small town feels, sibling banter and support, heartbreaking backstories and a rewarding HEA that was exactly what I wanted!
I recommend reading this series in order for the best experience and to avoid spoilers. Fortunate to have received an ARC (thank you) I happily leave my thoughts.
The wait is finally over! The prodigal son has returned, and Sophie Andrews didn’t disappoint. Bad boy, Roman, is everything I could have asked for! His redemption story is chef’s kiss… or better yet – baker’s kiss! It’s an instant attraction he feels for Eloise, the radiant, plus-size, sunshiny baker with ADHD who lights up every scene. She’s sassy, full of heart, and she’s adored by everyone in town, including Roman’s daughter, Mazie!
Roman is the estranged "bad boy" brother who returns home determined to change his life. He’s a recovering addict and an incredibly devoted single dad. His journey to realizing he deserves love is truly heartfelt and easy to root for.
I fell head-over-heels for these two together! Their meet-cute was simply adorable, and watching their fake date quickly turn into something real was pure magic. The spark, the heat, and the vulnerability between them felt so natural. Eloise helps Roman see his worth, and he reminds her she is perfect just the way she is.
Add in the hilarious, foul-mouthed little scene-stealer, Mazie, and you have a perfect recipe for found family and a satisfying HEA. This book is full of small-town charm, sweet sibling banter, and a whole lot of heart. 💖
Rating: 4.5⭐ Spice: 3🌶️ FMC: Eloise Thorne MMC: Roman Stone
I was so excited to read Roman's story as he was such a mystery in the other books, and damn Sophie, you wrote him well.
Roman is such a sweetheart with a rough past, but he is trying his best for himself, but mostly for his daughter Mazie. Eloise is a very sweet woman who brings sunshine into everyone's life. But she is also having her own struggles. I loved how they were so understanding of each other, always getting pulled towards one another and wanting to make each other smile.
Their love was so strong from the start. Both of them were crushing hard after meeting each other, and it grew into a beautiful friendship.
Roman was a sweet and good single dad. Mazie had him wrapped around her finger, and it was hilarious at times. It made me so happy that Mazie was immediately fond of Eloise and then her having a conversation with her dad about asking Eloise if she wanted to be her mother. Swoon!
I’m really sad that this series came to an end because the Stone family really became a comfort for me. They all warmed my heart deeply, and i’d be thrilled to read them all over again. But I am also very excited to see what Sophie’s future will bring and which amazing books she’s still gonna write ♥
Thank you so much to Sophie Andrews for the ARC copy and giving me the chance of reading and reviewing For The Weekend early. I really appreciated it, and the Stone family will forever have a place in my heart!

Quotes: “You’re trouble.” - “I don’t know what you mean. I’m always on my best behavior.” ‘I imagine Roman, Mazie, and Steve all cuddled together, and I need to stop by CVS for a pregnancy test.’ “You said i’m beautiful. No one’s ever called me that before.” “You don’t owe anybody anything. Not your smile and definitely not your tears.” ”Don’t you start too. Having one sassy female in the house is more than enough.”
This is book 4 of the Stone family series. I wish I could read this book from the beginning again it was just that good! I fell in love with Eloise and Roman! Eloise owns the bakery next door to the tattoo shop owned by Roman’s brother Ian from the previous book. She is a plus size ball of sunshine with blond hair who loves pink. She also has ADHD. Roman is the youngest of the Stone siblings and a tattooed giant of a man with a little girl named Mazie. Roman has been gone for a long time and has overcome drug addiction and turned his life around. He has bought his childhood home and moves back to town to raise his daughter near family. He sees Eloise on his first day back and falls for her instantly. When Eloise needs a date for her cousin’s wedding she asks daddy Roman to pretend to be her boyfriend for the weekend just to get her mom of her back.
The fake dating weekend begins to feel very real soon after Roman and Eloise start to fall for each other the more time they spend together. I loved their chemistry it was just magnetic and the way she loved and treated Mazie was just adorable! I loved this little instant family. This is a sweet romance with spice and it was just right! I couldn’t put this book down, I loved every minute of it!
Thank you Sophie Andrews for gifting me this e-Arc of this book!
The 4th instalment in the Stone family series and it was worth the build up to get here. We finally meet the estranged brother Roman who comes back to town with his daughter in tow to give her a better life surrounded by family
Roman runs into Eloise the sunshine baker who’s as sweet as her baking and falls for her gorgeous curves and cheeky charm!
Instantly taken by the giant hunk of a man, Eloise asks him to be her fake date to a wedding and sparks are flying everywhere!
The chemistry was freaking hot and I loved what they brought out in each other, Roman giving her the confidence she needs while Eloise made him realise he was loveable despite past mistakes!

Bonus points go to little Mazie with a mouth like a trucker, I laughed out loud at her cheekiness and cinnamon roll obsession. The family vibes in this is beautiful!
Roman & Eloise. Final instalment of the series is the story of the mysterious Stone sibling.
He is 40, a bit grumpy, recently moved back to home town with his 6y.o. daughter and starts falling for the town baker who is 30 and has ADHD which makes her adorable and quite funny at times.
The story has a rather fast pace, skipping parts that don’t evolve around the romance but without ignoring them completely, like his relationship with his siblings.
The sexual tension and attraction between them is strong from the very beginning without falling exactly in the instalove category. I like that our MCs are not so young and have their issues. I liked both of them, they have their pros and cons. I wasn’t very fond of their argument towards the end; I don’t think it was needed and made me question Eloise’s maturity.

Overall: 3.75/5 ⭐️ for me.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Listen, this was never going to be my favorite of the whole series, that’s reserved for Just This Once, but for the first 75% of this book, it was a solid 4 star read. Roman and Eloise weren’t blowing me away with their pairing but they were reasonably good and fun and sexy and I was here for it. And then, the 75% mark hit and Eloise does something so egregious that I lost all respect for her and really didn’t give two shits about the HEA.
Let’s backtrack. Roman is the youngest of the Stone siblings, he’s been gone for years, barely keeping in touch with his siblings and then after many years, he suddenly reappears back in town, with a young daughter in tow. He’s looking to make amends and forge familial bonds because he wants to give his daughter the best upbringing he can. He’s also a single parent and his daughter Mazie’s mom is in prison for criminal activities related to her drug addiction and stealing prescription pills and money from the doctors office she worked at. And furthermore, she was arrested when the cops burst in to her apartment with her young daughter present. So rightfully, Roman is very concerned about his child and her emotional wellbeing and is protecting her and refuses to bring her to see her mom in prison.
After Eloise and Roman begin their relationship, Eloise is tasked with picking Mazie up from school and bringing her back to Roman’s house. She finds a letter there and opens it and sees it’s from Amy (Mazie’s mom) begging Roman to let her see her daughter. So, WITHOUT TALKING TO ROMAN, she takes it upon herself to fix the situation, reaching out to Amy in prison because she just feels it’s the right thing to do. WITHOUT TALKING TO ROMAN. I can’t begin to explain how horrified and angry I was at this turn of events. It’s such a violation of boundaries and privacy. Roman only finds out when he’s sleeping over at Eloise’s and finds a letter addressed to her from the same women’s prison his ex is at. He opens the letter and reads and is rightfully furious and leaves while Eloise is in the shower. And then, she has the audacity to be mad about him leaving and cutting off communication from her. If the book ended there or if at that point, Roman found another woman who understood boundaries, this would have been a great book but alas, with only 25% of the book left, that is obviously not what happens. I don’t know if I’m more angry about Eloise’s boundary violating behavior or the fact that she decided she had a right to be mad at Roman for his response to her actions. And of course, once she finally reads Amy’s response to her letter, she understands that Amy needs to do a lot of work on herself before she can be allowed back into her daughter’s life but her acknowledgement of that is so casual and like “oh, I get it, whatever,” and I can’t support a HEA for this pairing at all. I’m actually mad about it which maybe is a silly thing to be for a fictional pairing in a work of fiction but here I am, big mad at Eloise being a total fucking ass and displaying not a lick of common sense in her actions. And yes, she’s neurodivergent, she has ADHD but that doesn’t begin to justify her behavior. One has nothing to do with the other.
The more I think about it, the more I want to drop it to a one star but the actual writing, the sentence structure, that was good and for the first 75%, as I said, it was a 4 star book. But the last 25% whiffed it so bad, there’s no recourse for me but to drop it to a 2 star. I liked the first 3 books of this series a lot but this one was a huge HUGE miss for me.
Thank you so much to Sophie Andrews for the complimentary copy of this book!
This book is out now!
WHEWWW Roman Stone. Holy moly. I was a little hesitant going into this fourth book because 1) I am sad to see this series come to an end and 2) if you have read the others in this series, you got an idea of what Roman was going to be like. We knew a shell of man leading up to this book but I knew Sophie wouldn't let me down. Turns out Roman is now my favorite leading man! The man he is - my goodness.
Roman is dark, brooding but also extremely protective of those he loves. I love that we have the dual POV because I love being inside of his head. He was immediately smitten with Eloise after a meet cute in Wawa (a popular convenience store in PA). And one their paths crossed again, he was not letting her go. Eloise is this tall, voluptuous woman who owns the local bakery in town. She is well liked in the community and is such a ray of sunshine (also her nickname by Roman). The two would not seem like it would work but they are truly each other's ying and yang. When he is quiet, she is chatty and they compliment each other so well.
Eloise has her own set of issues going on. Her mother does not provide her any support or the kind of love that you would think a mother would do. She is constantly comparing her to her cousin, wanting more from her and just talks down to her. And other family members let her get away with it. Roman comes into her life and now she has someone who isn't afraid to stand up to her mom and is constantly reminding her that she is enough. I had a lot of moments that stood out to me but one of my favorites is when Roman comes with her to her cousin's wedding.
The chemistry between these two is so electric! I love the way that Sophie writes her sex scenes. You are always left feeling flustered. The way she writes her male characters and how obsessed they are with their women. The women's needs always are at the forefront and consent is a must.
"I'm out of practice." "What?" "Smiling. I don't do it a lot. Maybe that's why it looked weird."
There was a small conflict between the two in the 3rd act but it does not drag on for too long. And it makes total sense why it happened. I will be vague but I did not understand how Eloise thought it was helpful for her to have done what she did especially without Roman's consent. The incident though allowed Roman to have this connection and important conversation with Ian.
Mazie was probably my favorite child out of all the siblings kid. She is sassy, happy and has a mouth like a sailor. And you can't help but laugh even when Roman tries to get her to stop. And I love how his family took her in and those in the community just loved her. Her and Eloise relationship was so beautiful to see and you could tell that Mazie just loved her (and not just for her cinnamon buns).
As I am at the end of any of her series, I am sad to see this one end BUT she did give us a little teaser at the end as to what book is next. I am super excited to see how she takes on sport romance!
PS - The model for this book is exactly how I pictured Roman - bravo match!
Who doesn’t love a grumpy-sunshine, single dad, age gap story and Sophie once again does not disappoint. Sophie Andrews has quickly become one of my favorite authors because her writing is always sharp, witty, and deliciously romantic with wonderful complex characters and steamy hot scenes too!
Ok, first off, I absolutely adore Eloise! She struggles with her ADHD but this ray of sunshine babbles on in the sweetest way possible and completely steals grumpy Roman’s heart. When Eloise interrupts her best friend Sloan while Sloan is inking a customer and babbles on about desperately needing a date to her cousin’s wedding, I couldn’t stop smiling. And Eloise ends with . . .
And guess who overhears Eloise’s entire rant? Roman.
Roman goes with Eloise to her cousin’s wedding as her fake boyfriend and immediately shows his protective side in defense of Eloise when her mother demeans her and makes her uncomfortable. Roman is everything Eloise needs. He sees her. Really sees her. And when their physical attraction heats up, it is FIRE! I mean there are some super steamy scenes in this book. Whew!
This book can absolutely be read as a stand alone but those of us who’ve read the previous books in this series have been anxiously waiting for the Stone family baby brother to appear. Roman Stone was definitely worth the wait. A single dad? Yikes! And look out because six year old Mazie is the most adorable little f-bomb, swear-happy little girl. Plus we get to meet Steve, the pet bunny that Roman won’t admit he adores, but can’t help but cuddle. Steve even has a bunny condo! Roman is a recovering addict which had him disappearing from home for years and he’s now trying to reconnect with his siblings. Bring on the Stone siblings! They are the best entertainment when they’re all together.
Roman desperately wants Mazie to have a real family and stable home. Roman is an amazing dad. The dialogue between Eloise and Roman is emotional at times, especially when Eloise talks about her ADHD struggles and how her mother is so critical of her. Roman’s compassionate nature and protectiveness toward her is absolutely swoon worthy. But he needs to recognize his own worth. And when Eloise thinks she’s helping Roman and Mazie’s family dynamic, Roman feels betrayed and both of them struggle to reconnect. But then Ian, eldest Stone sibling, imparts his brotherly, if not more like fatherly wisdom when Roman needs it most. And Sloan, while going thru her own family upheaval, is still the best friend to Eloise every one of us wishes we had.
Finally, Sophie writes some of the most enjoyable inner dialogue and out loud thoughts. Here are just a few gems from Eloise.
I loved this book. It not only tugs at your heart strings but it’s sweet, funny, and super spicy! The Stone family continues to own my heart. Five. Huge. Stars.
“It's as if my whole life has led up to this moment, to this woman, the opportunity to make her happy, win her smiles, and, if given the chance, protect her from anything that might hurt her.”
To say I'm obsessed with the Stone Family series would be an understatement, and For the Weekend is my favorite one yet. Everything about this story from the dynamic characters to their relationships to the small town setting worked together to create a story that will have you laughing, crying, & swooning.
“There is no worrying when she's with me. No thinking. No anxiety about not being good enough. Because she's perfect. She's beautiful and bright and pure sunshine.”
Every Stone family member has stolen my heart: Griffin with his protectiveness, Taryn with her fierceness, Ian with his openness, & now Roman with his dedication to giving his daughter the life she deserves. Mazie solidified herself as my fave Stone kid from the first time she spouted profanity. She had me laughing so hard, even though Roman is exasperated by it. He's a gruff giant with a melty cinnamon roll center. He's made mistakes, but he's owning up to them and overcoming them. Eloise is like a burst of sunshine. She's always smiling & laughing, yet beneath it all, she doesn't feel good enough. Things are harder for her because her ADHD makes it difficult to focus & her mom always treated her differently because of it. From the moment these two meet, it's like getting struck by lightning. They see the hidden parts of each other, they love the dark parts, and will fight to protect what's theirs. And the spice between them? You'll melt.
“I didn't need time to know I loved Eloise. I needed time to realize I can't do what I've done before and run away. There is no running away from Eloise. It would be like losing a limb. An organ. My heart.”
Sophie Andrews is a must read author for anyone that loves contemporary romance. She has a beautiful way of crafting characters that feel like real people; they're loving, flawed, and just want to be seen for what's in their heart. Sophie is also the sweetest human who fights for the rights of others. She's amazing, her books are amazing, and you should also be amazing & read her stories.
I was excited to read the story of the last Stone sibling. He was absent all the time. Not just for the short times of the other books, but for 20 years. I always felt sorry for him, even without knowing his full story, but now I feel even more sorry 😭
Yes, Roman is grumpy. But he is also so super cute. And such a perfect daddy. Mazie has him wrapped around her finger so perfectly 😁 She just needs to say she wants something, and she gets it. Like Steve, her bunny. But Steve is so cute, and it's not just Mazie who loves him, Roman loves Steve too 😍 And he has a very dirty side 😎 Especially when it comes to Eloise 😉 It's definitely love at first sight between these two, even though they don't want to show it too much. But even Mazie sees it 🤣
I so love reading books with plus-size FMCs, and Eloise is amazing. She stands for her curves. Even though her mother gives her bad attitudes 🤬 Not just for her size but also for her ADHD 🤬 This woman is 👿 And even though I always feel sorry for the MCs when they have such a family, I love reading it. I know I say that all the time, but it helps me to see I'm not alone 🩷
And even though I'm sad about the end of the Stone family. I'm very excited about the next series. I'm just saying 🏈 😎
Thanks to the author for trusting me with an ARC 🩷
Eloise is a plus sized baker with ADHD who owns Sweet Cheeks Bakery in West Chester, Pennsylvania. She loves all things pink from her bakery walls to the lipstick she wears. Roman is a grumpy single dad who moves back to town with his daughter Maizie to be around his siblings. He opens an auto repair shop in town down the street from the bakery. Eloise and Roman meet in a gas station on the way back to town. Eloise sees Maizie asking Roman for something and after a short conversation without sharing names, Eloise walks away calling Roman “daddy”. Both of them are shocked when they see each other in town.
Eloise is looking for a date for her cousin’s wedding and asks Roman to be her pretend boyfriend for the day. He says yes and the two of them go on a date beforehand to talk about the wedding. Eloise says maybe they should practice a kiss and the heat level jumps up. At the wedding, Roman stays by Eloise and stands up for her to her family. The two of them realize that this relationship may not be fake after all.
I loved the relationship between them and how instant the attraction was. Maizie is so cute with her swearing and how Roman is trying to learn how to be a parent. Roman helping Eloise stand up for herself and start to believe in herself was perfectly written. Both of them need each other and are the perfect puzzle pieces to fit with the other. I have read all the other books in this series and I was so excited to read this one for the last sibling.
I love this series so much! Sophie does a phenomenal job with these characters, and I’m already looking forward to what she has planned next.
For the Weekend is a fake dating, grumpy x sunshine, single dad, forced proximity romance between Eloise and Roman.
Eloise is such a fun heroine! She’s a total sweetheart, and has so much love for her family/friends, and especially Roman and his kids. I loved how the more time she spends with him, the more she’s able to realize what love is actually supposed to be like, and that it’s okay to have a different vision for your life than what everyone else expects from you. I related a lot to her, and I think so many other readers will too.
I’ve loved every Stone brother @authorsophieandrews has written, and Roman is yet another favorite for me. He has so much love for his family and for Eloise, and I loved how perfectly his grumpy fits with her sunshine. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for his loved ones, and I loved that he sees that Eloise needs that same love and support, and he’s more than happy to give it to her. He’s absolutely perfect for her, y’all will love him!
Thank you so much to @authorsophieandrews for having me on your arc team, and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
For the Weekend will be available on November 6th💗
The Stone family does not disappoint! I feel like I’m not alone by saying I’ve been dying for Romans book. He was such a mystery in his siblings books and honestly I was a little skeptical how Sophie was going to give him a redemption arc, but she did with all the rainbows and sunshine he deserves. I loved that Roman showed his flaws but was working so hard to move forward. I loved that the Stones, although still a little mad at his lack of presence in the past still showed up for him. And Ian’s speech to him had me in tears. Roman deserves so much good and I loved that his counterpart was Eloise. Eloise was so sweet and jumbled. Her struggles with her family broke my heart but the way that refrigerator of a man stood up for her was everything! Much like Sophie’s other books prepare so delicious spice, fun banter and all of the Stone family and their significant others to make fun appearances. I can’t wait for more of Sophie’s writing although I am so sad that this was the last of the Stone family. 4/5 stars 2/5 spice
Tropes Fake dating Grumpy x sunshine Single dad He falls first Age gap Only one bed
The Family Stone is complete here with Roman's story and it's terrific! Roman is back in the family fold after ghosting his siblings for years. He's bought back the old family home, started a business working with cars and is settling his daughter Mazie in to get to know her cousins and extended family.
Soon he meets Eloise, owner of the thriving bakery in their small town. This is low-angst, and trope-y, but so much fun. Eloise has a toxic relationship with her super-critical mother, and conflicted feelings about all her family. She has good friends though and after meeting Roman – a big guy, bearded and tattooed, she impulsively asks him to come to a family wedding as her fake boyfriend. It's fast paced as he takes on her mother, manages only one bed, fingers Eloise as a confidence booster 🫢 and makes everything better. It's not all rainbows though, as Roman has history with Mazie's mother who wants contact with her daughter, and our Eloise has ADHD, and she can be impulsive.
Happily, it all works out, and Roman and Eloise are excellent together!
Thank you Sophie Andrews for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
Thank you Sophie Andrews for this ARC of For the Weekend! Book 4 in the Stone Family series, I don’t want this series to end! 😢 I have LOVED all the stone siblings!
Let me start off with as much as I loved Ellie and Roman, MAZIE STOLE THE SHOW!!! 😂 That little girl is a FIRECRACKER with zero filter and a mouth of a sailer (yes she is Romans 6 year old daughter).
From the moment these two first met in the grocery store, even before they knew exactly who each other were, the chemistry was UNDENIABLE! Even after when they were officially introduced, it like it clicked for each of them, their attraction to one another is heart stopingly wonderful!
When Roman jumps in to be her “fake” Boyfriend for a wedding he does not hesitate, when Ellie needs saving from KYLE, Roman jumps in, when Ellie is down on herself because of her ADHD and her mother, Roman is there for her!
The way these two fall hard and fast like there was never a time that they didn’t love each each other was chefs kiss

Roman Stone. We’ve heard a lot about Roman through the previous books about the Stone siblings, he was such an enigma. I had no idea what to expect, but I did really love this refrigerator of a man. Stoic, grumpy but such a loving dad to his daughter, Maizie.
Eloise Thorne is the baker and owner of Sweet Cheeks, who we have definitely met and loved before. It was interesting being inside her brain, her ADHD felt really authentic and I liked that. Actually the entire book felt authentic, I really liked how respectfully we treated Roman’s past with his addictions and mistakes. We could really see how hard he worked to grow into the parent that he needed to be. He’s a solid guy and amazing dad. Of the two main characters, Roman was my favourite, but Eloise is sweet and caring and I liked how she grew during this book too.
This was a solid book in the Stone family series, had some heat and spice. Maizie was adorable with her bad language and I liked the grumpy/sunshine of the couple.
I received an advance copy of this book in return for my honest review. Sophie Andrews is one of my favourite authors and is always a must read for me.
What a cute little romance! I enjoyed the flirty exchanges Roman and Eloise had right away. You could really feel that underlying attraction. It was sweet to see them become friends and then eventually lovers. I did appreciate that the fake dating aspect was only used in times of necessity and that Roman and Eloise did not lie to their close friends and family. Eloise lying to her mother was okay in my eyes because that woman was terrible. I found it amazing that Roman helped Eloise learn not to care what others thought, which in turn gave her the courage to stand up to her mother.
I do wish we would have gotten a few scenes of Eloise and Mazie, Roman’s daughter, together so that we could have seen their bond form on a deeper level. I think that part felt a bit service level. And, I hate to say this, but it felt like Maxie’s cuteness was forced — like the author was trying too hard to make her an adorable, foul-mouthed girl who loves pink.
I also found the ending a bit lackluster. We did not get any real resolution regarding Maxie’s biological mother — did she try to fight for custody after her release? — and I think that is because we did not get any glimpse further into the future. We got an epilogue, but I felt it was wasted trying to introduce the next book series.
I loved For The Weekend! Roman and Eloise were so bloody cute together and had this magnetic chemistry and a connection from that first meeting. Watching them fall in love and getting to read those scenes where they get to know one another and share their pasts and hurts with one another was done so well, you really felt what they were feeling. Roman had been through so much and seeing him not only be a great dad and falling in love but reconnecting with his family and getting that support system in place was so nice to see. Getting to know Eloise and how she managed her adhd was really interesting and how her mum treated her was sad but i feel like Roman instilled this confidence in her she didn’t have and really bolstered her up. Sloane and Eloise’s friendship was awesome, they supported and loved each other through everything. Seeing how Roman was with little Mazie was great and the relationship that Mazie and Eloise built was so cute. I loved little Mazie she was such a crack up! Loved seeing my favourite secondary characters from the previous books in this series as well as the other secondary characters we got to know more about.
This one surprised me in the best way. Eloise felt real, a plus-size FMC who wasn’t written like a walking Pinterest board of “body positivity” quotes. Just a woman existing, dealing with ADHD, family baggage, and her own chaos like the rest of us. I related way too hard to the ADHD struggle and the mom issues.
Also, there’s a rabbit named Steve. I don’t know why that was so funny to me, but it was. 10/10 name choice.
Some quotes that hit a little too close to home:
“Tells me I don’t need therapy or medication. Just a cup of tea and a good night’s sleep.” “And they wonder why we need therapy.”
And then there’s this line — simple, sweet, and kind of perfect:
“I kissed you because I wanted to.”
Funny, honest, and low-key emotional without trying too hard. Definitely worth picking up for the weekend (see what I did there).
I received this book as an ARC and am leaving this review completely voluntarily.
The perfect fake dating trope storyline ✅ Cute & curvy FMC with a touch of neurodivergence ✅ Single dad putting his troubled past behind him ✅ Kiddo with a case potty mouth that steals the show ✅ Feeling good after finishing the book ✅
I absolutely adored the 4th installment of the Stone Family series. The push and pull of Roman & Eloise’s romance had me on edge, just waiting for the moment they’d snap and give into the connection they made during their meet-cute.
Both characters come with a ton of baggage that wants to weigh them down. But the beauty of the story comes in realizing that sharing the emotional weight can bring out the best in one another.
Roman is so swoon-worthy because he recognizes Eloise’s ADHD in a way that’s completely validating and he worships her curvy figure. Eloise is as sweet as the baked goods she makes in her store, especially with Roman’s little girl. This classic sunshine-grump trope is one you won’t want to miss!
In the fourth Stone siblings book, we finally meet the elusive Roman….and he was so worth the wait. After years struggling with addiction and avoiding his hometown, the youngest Stone returns home with a foul-mouthed daughter that no one knew about, hoping that his siblings will be willing to welcome him back into the family. It’s not an easy road, but Roman is committed to redeeming himself and doing what’s best for his daughter. That just happens to also include spending lots of time with beautiful baker Eloise.
Mature characters, curvy heroine, ginormous hero, instant attraction, grumpy/sunshine, fake relationship–Sophie Andrews brings together my favorite tropes in another satisfying small town romance. Both Roman and Eloise need to deal with their demons in order to move forward, challenges that many of us can connect with.

✨ Fake Dating ✨ Forced Proximity ✨ Age Gap ✨ Single Dad ✨ Found Family
Okaaaaay, I absolutely devoured this in one sitting🥰 I’m obsessed with the Stone siblings and couldn’t wait for Roman’s story. Just give me a single dad and an age gap and I’ll eat it up 🤭
I loved both main characters. Roman the MMC is a single dad, mechanic, long hair, tattoos, beard… you get it 🥵 And Eloise our FMC is a baker, loves pink, and is just a ray of sunshine 🥰
Roman is a little closed off but seeing his instant attraction to Eloise and all the sweet things he does for her was so lovely. And watching them both slowly accept that they deserve love had me smiling so much throughout ❤️
And then there’s Roman’s 6 year old daughter, Maizie…. When I say she stole the show, I mean it. I love her and her foul language 🫣😂😂 She was so funny and adorable ☺️
This story had it all for me, a cute first meet, chemistry, laughs, love, the spice was spicing 🔥 but it also had a lot of moments that pulled on the heart strings. Mentions of addiction and family issues. It was done so well! I absolutely loved it 🩵
Roman Stone - Ladies, please get your fans out, you're going to need it to read all about the youngest Stone sibling!! The run away bad boy self inflicted outlier has finally returned home and he's got the sassiest 6yr old tagging along - Mazie is absolutely hilarious! The premise of fake dating when really, nothing between Roman and the gorgeous Eloise was fake, right from the get go their chemistry was blistering. Their flirty banter was spot on despite the gruff grumpiness of Roman, he was not wrong to call Eloise Sunshine, she is the epitome of it. They are both a little broken, but together they work. Such an enjoyable read and I'm sad to see the end of the Stones - What a brilliant family, full of love and support for each other.
