"Some scars run deeper than blood, and some love stories never die-even when they should." Iraj thought she left the pain behind when she traded the 9th Ward for the lights of Los Angeles. A successful therapist by day, she's built a new life with a new man. But ten years after the tragic murder of her daughter and the sudden disappearance of her husband, the past refuses to stay buried. Now, back in New Orleans for a business trip-turned-emotional reckoning, Iraj finds herself haunted by a city full of ghosts-some real, some imagined, and one that still wears the face of the man who left her when she needed him most. As memories resurface and truths unravel, Iraj must confront the questions she's avoided for a Why did Nuh abandon her? What really happened that day? And can you ever truly escape a love that's written in blood? Bloodlines of the Bound to Ma Fille is a gripping tale of love, trauma, and resilience set against the vibrant soul of New Orleans-a city where nothing stays dead for long.
I really enjoyed this story! It’s a gripping Urban Fiction tale with a supernatural twist that kept me turning the pages. The plot twist was wild—part of me knew so and so were doing it (lol). And that ending? I was literally in tears. I asked myself, why am I crying right now?! As someone from New Orleans, I absolutely adore books that include voodoo and spiritual elements. This one hit all the right notes for me. Highly recommend if you’re into suspense, surprises, and a little magic.
I was immediately taken into Iraj’s world and loved every bit of her story.
I wish the author didn’t feel the need to describe how every sentence is said - he said with his head bowed and hands shaking, she whispered startled and afraid. But this was because the storyline and dialogue was so captivating, I didn’t think it was necessary and I really just wanted the dialogue itself to continue because I was so excited to see what was going to be said next!!
Now this was a good southern gothic kinda read I’ll tell you that, was some parts predictable and did they dance around some stuff a bit YES but the twist REALLY ATE DOWN now I gotta see what else this author has going on cus I am SEATEDD. This was a nice refreshing book for me lol very much a change of pace for me but BOMB af.
