A mysterious young woman is found wandering in the desert near a military base. Her discovery is surrounded by bizarre circumstances. She has no memory of who she is or where she came from, but one thing quickly becomes clear- she may be one of the most powerful psychics ever known. She proves adept at Remote Viewing and uses her skills to spy for the government. But what are her true motives? View is the story of how she affects the lives of the people around her-and how one man falls under her spell.
My books do not always fit into established genres - most of them have elements of sci-fi, mystery, crime, action, and especially - romance. I will warn that my idea of 'romance' is not typical, but more along the lines of strong women and men making sacrifices for them.
While my books are not a series in any sense of the word, many are connected through characters and events. I will also say I strive for realism and logic. My books are never fantasy, but rooted in what is actually possible,
I invite you along for the ride and hope it will be memorable.
When a story begins with a page marked "Warning" and "Secret", followed by the first chapter titled "It Begins", you suspect you're in for quite a ride. View fully delivers on that promise. A young amnesiac woman is found alone in the desert, and Air Force Sergeant Max Leszek makes a life-altering mistake. What's the connection? And where will it take all the people involved? Seemingly disparate pieces combine to create a compelling paranormal thriller that also contains elements of intrigue, mystery, and romance.
The characters are strong, both the main characters and the supporting ones. The story is told in first person, mostly from Max's perspective, but a few chapters tell events from the perspectives of the other characters. Those chapters were well placed, with smooth transitions from Max's tale, and really enhanced the story. The characters in those chapters have their own distinct voices - some great, skillful writing! And the story's ending... wow! I didn't see that coming.
From brief histories of locations Max visits to technical fine points about a military plane, many such details are incorporated into the story, adding depth and reality to the tale. They were skillfully included and deftly avoided a common problem of turning into "info dumps".
While the story contains some violence and the aftermath of violence, and instances of rape, abuse/torture, and addiction, these elements were important to the plot and weren't gratuitous or dwelt on overlong.
A few typos that popped up throughout the book had me rereading some sentences. They were somewhat annoying but their impact on the strength of the story was minor.
Overall, this is an engaging story that grabs the reader right from the beginning and takes them along on a fantastic ride. A wonderful read with plenty of twists and turns, it entertains as well as provides some thought-provoking pieces that linger well after the end of the book.
Yet another compelling action-packed piece of work by Ed Morawski. He has a way of keeping your brain swimming! This story's theme is all about remote viewing on a government level, which can be hazardous if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. I myself have a very good friend who is a remote viewer that I met through paranormal channels some years ago.
This story is more on the darker side... I wasn't prepared for the ending. That's for sure.
**I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review** Now first of all I have to say this is not a book I would have picked on my own (since I usually gravitate to YA novels), but that's the great thing about the read to review's that are out there they give us that chance, and I am glad I signed up for this one. This book in my opinion could be compared to a action movie I would like to watch, but this one was played out in my mind, and the author did a great job in creating a fantastic picture. It had a damaged girl with no past, government working in secret, and abilities that no one can explain, but that`s not all you will get much more in the pages of this exciting book. I enjoyed most of the characters in the book, Angel was the one exception and yes I noticed how funny that was too. I liked how the majority of the story was told from max`s point of view but also to give the reader just enough to keep them interested the author gives a few different perspectives. I enjoyed those little bits of information cause just when I thought I had sort of figured out I was wrong and I needed to know more. Alicia was by far the biggest mystery and I want to know more about her story, well I guess what I really want is her take on the whole thing. I got to know her story through the eyes of others and even a bit from her, but I wish I knew more about her motives, and why she did the things that blindsided me, that being said I really felt for her and I'm glad she got to have some sort of happiness. I found the author to be very knowledgeable I can really tell he is smart and did his homework, the information provided during their travels travels was so in depth it felt like I was with a tour guide and I loved it. I could also tell he is a photographer I got a great lesson in photography and I found it very neat. I also really enjoyed the quotes and the beginning of each chapter, I found them to be both deep and relate able to each chapter or the story, some even had me pausing for a moment to really soak it in. That ending was something else and as I sit her writting this review I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I never saw any of it coming and I'm also not sure I believe everything I am told, I find myself conflicted and very very stunned, so good work Mr. Morawski I'll be thinking about this one for a while.
Max is an Air Force sergeant who joins a secret government team where he meets Alicia, a mysterious young woman with psychic powers. Alicia is amnesic and was found wandering the desert after suffering some horrible abuse. No one really knows what her motives are, and that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. This story is a mash-up of thriller, action, speculative sci/fi, and paranormal romance. It’s told primarily from Max’s 1st POV, but occasionally, the other characters pop in with their own chapters. The mix of POVs flowed well and gave the story more depth. Max is a strong, likable character and his relationship with Alicia and his work with his new team led to one twist after another. Fans of thrillers will enjoy this book a lot. 4 Stars
View by Ed Morawski was an interesting read if one wants to read about twists and turns throughout the story. The story begins with Max, a photographer, who takes the wrong photo of a government property. He ends up getting involved with the government, and he ends up meeting Alicia and who has the unique ability of “Remote Viewing” — a psychic like ability that the government finds useful.
This book has adult themes, some of which I don’t necessarily agree with, but I found the ending of the story to be unexpected and a worthwhile read.
It is difficult to pigeonhole View to a specific genre or category. The subtitle clearly states it is a ‘Paranormal Romance’ but in reality it is also quite the thriller, with tidbits of historical (fact or fiction?) thrown in, as well as healthy dose of the paranormal in the form of remote viewing and perhaps mind control. Mix all that with astounding twists and turns which left me breathless and guessing. Each time you think you see where it’s going, the story takes an abrupt turn. In any case all this makes for an interesting read which I found unable to put down.
Also unusual is the fact the story is told in the first person from many different characters. So although the reader never knows exactly what is on one character’s mind- or their motives- we do get to see it all from various different view points. I found the action sequences thrilling but never outlandish. In fact each one, although set in this fantastic world of ‘remote viewing’ telepaths, rings absolutely true like something you would see on the evening news. The military sequences are especially colorful and it is obvious that the author has extensive experience in this area.
I really enjoyed the two main characters- Max and Alicia and reading their back stories and the way they interacted. Several times I wanted to scream out: “Don’t do it!” but for the most part it is impossible to know where the story is going.
Max is a sergeant in the Air Force who is for the most part a loner although sensitive and with artistic talent. One day he does something totally out of character for him- and highly illegal. Like many- he is caught instantly. But there is more to his arrest. It turns out to be a gambit to force him to work for a top secret team comprised of various military officers-and Alicia, a powerful psychic. Alicia’s story is even more astounding and mysterious. She was found wandering in the desert on a remote Air Force base very near death from being horribly abused.
When the military discovers her powers they put her to work spying via her ability to ‘remote view’ – or see distant locations. Little do they really understand the extent of her powers. Even though there are ample signs of what she can do, the project leaders are blind to it in the hope to thwart terrorism. It is Max finally who begins to learn first hand what she is capable of, and him who ultimately gets caught in her web.
Author Morawski is an accomplished story teller and I look forward to reading more of his work.
