If my daddy taught me anything, it’s you don’t wait for the world to fall apart—you prep like hell before it does. And let me tell you… it’s falling apart faster than anyone thought. People are sick. The government’s cracking. Civilization? On its last gasps. But me? I’m ready. I’ve got land. Water. Power. Livestock. Enough canned goods to feed a small, horny army. And now? I’m just collecting the men. Five of them. Handpicked. Vetted. All their preferred supplies acquired. I don’t want random strays in my bunker. I want assets. Useful, competent, resilient men who bring something valuable to the end of the world. It just so happens that mine are also hot enough to cause dehydration. Meet my 💘 Dr. Evan Wolfe, my emotionally repressed ER doctor who hates how much he loves being manhandled. 💘 Dean Mercer, mechanic, menace, and the reason I can’t look at a wrench without blushing. 💘 Brock Tanner, the grumpy ex-sniper who threatened to kill me, and now spoons me in his sleep. 💘 Holden Graves, survivalist, ex-recluse, and low-key terrifying daddy figure with a knife kink. 💘 Wade Colter, the sweet-talking farmer who smells like hay, sunshine, and the kind of pleasure that ruin lives. The world may be ending, but I’ve never felt more alive. And my men? They’re not going anywhere.
This isn’t just a reverse harem. It’s not just a doomsday plan. It’s a love story, built out of MREs, restraint cuffs, and one very determined woman who knew the world was ending and made sure she didn’t do it alone. There will pancakes and inappropriate banter. Buttered Pop-Tarts and bunker-bound bonding. Utter filth. (Like… do not read this on public transport filth.)
Gwendoline Rose admits she’s not quite right. But who the hell wants to be? Maybe it was the steady diet of fairy tales spiked with horror. Maybe it was the cream cookies and undiagnosed autism.
Either way, she’s always rooted for the villain, questioned the happy endings, and wondered why the hell the princess would ever settle for Prince Beige.
Now she writes emotionally raw, hilariously unhinged romance for the beautifully broken, the chronically overstimulated, the neurodivergents, the survivors, the ones who feel too much and love even harder.
Diagnosed late with autism, cPTSD, and enough rare disorders to fill a bingo card, she now channels the chaos into characters who crave connection but have absolutely no idea how to do it “right.”
Her heroines are feral. Her men are emotionally constipated. And her stories don’t fade to black, they set it on fire.
If you’ve ever been told you’re too intense, too sensitive, too much… welcome home.
*3.5* This story is really dumb, but also highly entertaining. Someone compared this to a blend of Claire Kent post apocalypse/Jessa Kane erotica, and I have to agree.
My random notes:
-Enjoyably unhinged -RH but only one scene w/2 men -No mm -Fmc is the aggressor -Why does she bother with a stockpile of condoms when they are never used? -Zero discussion about safe sex, everyone is all in, completely bare. -Not showering between sex partners is kind of gross. -There are hints about possible zombies, but no actual fighting to defend their territory. -The ending was way too brief, no epilogue, no group sex, no hea. Just, hfn, keep prepping because the world is going to get worse, kind of ending.
He squeezes his eyes shut. Exhales hard. "You kidnapped me” he says I tilt my head. "That's a really negative way of looking at it”…………….
Most apocalypse books drop you straight into the chaos, but not this one. Our heroine had been prepping before it even started and was following a step-by-step program. The most important…recruiting viable, useful men for her bunker. And how did she find them? By stalking them for a year, of course. Learning their routines, their jobs, even watching them sleep. Crazy? No. Just thorough
I loved the heroine's character. She was completely fucking insane 🙃 She did the most deranged things and talked about them like, ‘oh well, oops, silly me’, which somehow made it even better.
I mean, after she kidnapped one man she said…
I set my burger down, wipe my fingers on a napkin, and lean forward with my most reassuring girlfriend smile. "Evan, sweetheart, I need you to stay calm, okay?" His nostrils flare. "I am literally chained to a bed." "Yes," I agree. "For your own safety.” There's silence. A very loud silence.
This book had no place being this funny! She was very excited for him to wake up and realise he was “home.” The delusional energy was strong.
There wasn’t much of a transition between the men being kidnapped, realising it, and then them having sex with the heroine and laughing about it…usually all in one chapter. A few had reservations, but most were insta-love situations. She was hot, kept mentioning sex, and the world was ending anyway… so they rolled with it.
The heroes were wildly obsessed and possessive, and honestly, if you’re reading this, it’s not for the survival/apocalypse plot. It’s for the spice. Plain and simple. There’s a brief mention of zombie-like things, but that gets forgotten about really fast.
I thought it was an interesting premise and really liked how unhinged the heroine was. It was a good palate-cleanser read, so I’m giving it 3 stars. Again, this book is not like ‘Willow’ , you’re not reading this for the apocalypse plot. The decision-making is wildly illogical, and everyone was way too okay with being kidnapped, so set your expectations accordingly. I won’t spoil the ending, but I wish it were more climactic, as it left me a little disappointed.
This was bonkers, like an unhinged Jessa Kane stalker girl meets a Claire Kent dystopian romance, except multiply the number of MMCs involved because you gotta resource that bunker! 🤣🤣🤣 I could have done with a few less MMCs (there were definite overlaps in personality), but I still had a good time.
Idk what it says about me that I always love a deranged FMC. A deranged MMC is 50/50 but give me a happy-go-lucky FMC with psychotic tendencies and I am locked tf in.
Read this when a friend's review brought it to my timeline a few hours ago and I'm so glad I did. Vee said it all better than I did and I agree with everything there so go read her review then read this book of you want some amusement.
Edit: 3.5 stars. Would have been 4 if they didn't suddenly lose/gain clothes in certain scenes or go from holding her to standing with her in others, and if the ending wasn't...that.

"I’ve spent years prepping for this, planning, refining, making sure every detail is perfect. And I’ve finally found the last thing I need. People. The right people."
"Dean’s room is right next door, of course. Same layout. Same high-end mattress. Only the best for my boys. I invested, okay? It’s not kidnapping if you provide premium memory foam."
“You’re like a horny Martha Stewart with control issues.”
"She’s walking ahead of me now, giving me the grand tour like this is her Barbie Dream Bunker and I just won the contest to move in."
"He jerks hard against the cuff and the bedframe actually groans. I love that for me."
“Oh, I know you don’t want to,” I say sweetly. “But I also know once you stop fighting me and start using that energy to wreck me instead, everything will start making a lot more sense.”
“They’re not hostages,” I say immediately. “They’re family in transition.”
"She’s laughing like she didn’t kidnap all of us and chain us to beds like some kind of twisted survival romance starter pack."
"Because the thing no one ever tells you about freedom? It’s a little overwhelming when you actually get it."
Never wanted the world to end so badly as I do now 😅
While I'm questioning my morals and debating the merits of stalking, I'm also ready to hunker down to research prepping and all that is unholy. Let it be known that if the world ends, I will be hunting down my perfect harem who will be making me their bunker queen!
Seriously though, this was a totally unusual and fun read. The perfect breather between series when you need something both dark and light with a HEA. Loved every insane moment of it!
Maple is right there with some of the "off the wall" characters I've read. Who wants cookie cutter anyway.
"If my daddy taught me anything, it was to be prepared for the worst. Shit’s always gonna go sideways, baby girl, he’d say. So you gotta be ready."
So a little kidnapping goes a long way lol
There is a lot of smut, somehow I didn't mind it so much. No MM yet... What I did mind was the ending, felt like we just read the prologue. The MMCs are all Alphas, always a plus in my book. Just wanted to see them in action.
Maple does turn into a kitten though, I liked her cray cray at the start. Life goals and all that lol
I actually want to know more. Oh okay 4* instead of 3* because I would read more.
I love an unhinged fmc and Maple is exactly that 😂. I cackled SO much 😂. And Dean? The absolute best. Daddy Holden? Yes please! MFMMM. No virgins, no specific details about their histories. 1st person POV (Maple only)
Fun, quick read. FMC is enjoyably unhinged. I appreciate stories that do not take themselves too seriously and I can just enjoy the ride. I honestly would have liked it to be longer.
this one didn’t hit like her other books i’ve read. i enjoyed it overall, but felt like i needed a little more from their relationships and also Maple.
I want to read it but this just feels like an Entangled by Rebecca Quinn knock-off.
It's set in a similar sounding dystopian setting with a singular bunker/location seemingly being the main focus and also has five men in the harem. I can even hazard a guess as to which characters are meant to resemble whom:
💘 Dr. Evan Wolfe, my emotionally repressed ER doctor who hates how much he loves being manhandled. - (Jasper, he's also part of the medical field and emotionally repressed)
💘 Dean Mercer , mechanic, menace, and the reason I can’t look at a wrench without blushing. - (Jaykob, also a mechanic, menace, and very grumpy)
💘 Brock Tanner, the grumpy ex-sniper who threatened to kill me, and now spoons me in his sleep. - (Probably Dominic)
💘 Holden Graves, survivalist, ex-recluse, and low-key terrifying daddy figure with a knife kink. - (Can't tell now, but might actually be a unique character.)
💘 Wade Colter, the sweet-talking farmer who smells like hay, sunshine, and the kind of pleasure that ruin lives. - (Lucien 'Lucky' + Beaumont 'Beau' mashup, sunshine figure and a farmer/country background.)
Whew what a ride. You have to admire Maple’s planning, stalking and preparation. That girl knows how to put it all together and bring them home to momma! To those not interested in RH, this is a good book explaining why it can be amazing. Every single one of those men brought something different to the table and who wouldn’t want an adorable slightly unhinged woman in their lives? Aren’t we all a little unhinged at times? I don’t tranq people, but hey to each their own. I don’t yuck someone else’s yum. Love the multiple POVs, but Dean is so it for me. A man after my own heart. He is in from the jump and his sense of humor is perfection! Add in a bit of persuasive kidnapping of men and livestock, bit of burglary and a dose of doomsday apocalyptic flu you got an amazing standalone book!
So i love a good stalker romance and this one was even better as she was the stalker this time around. It mixed my favourite tropes of stalker and apocalypse together. It was a little fast paced for me. Thought it could have been drawn out more before they jumped into bed. So this would be classed as an insta lust fast burn. But it was a quick read that was well thought out. Kept it interesting. Brought new light to what preppers should actually be collecting.
I will hands down, admit I cackled through the whole smutfest book. I live this writing style, the snark, and of course Maple.. let it be said the unhinged fmc Is a great plot The mmcs... I will say Dean had my ❤️
I have never downloaded a book so fast after reading the blurb and boy it didn't disappoint! I was laughing my head off in the first chapter! I would love to read more of these guys
This author is amazing!!! Maple is such a fun character and each of the guys are perfect for her. I’ve heard of laughter through tears but never laughter through orgasms!!!!
This one was absolutely beyond funny. The FMC is as batty as they come, and the men she collects have a wide variety of personalities. It was cute and funny to see them reacting to their kidnappings in addition to the mild apocalypse glimpse.
I don’t even know what to say? At this point, cult/stalker Gwendoline books are my favorite. She’s become an auto-buy author for me with zero hesitation.
Needed at least one more round of edits. That’s being kind. The writing is repetitive and super cheesy, even for erotica. I’m mad because it had so much potential to be sooo good. As is, I finished it because it was crack trash—which I can get into when the mood strikes—but also because I skimmed the last 10%. Some random thoughts:
- I mostly don’t understand why the author has her FMC repeat “Oh Baby” until my eyes were bleeding. Or some variation of “Oh_____.”
- And the similes, oh my god. Way too many similes.
- The FMC kinda sucks. I really don’t like a “cute, innocent little psycho” character, and for some reason that’s big in romance. But the MMCs in this book are fascinating.
- Everything happens so fast. Like ridiculously fast. I hate that shit.
There are other annoying writing style quirks and plot holes (like people being clothed one second then naked the next) that bothered me. I just want to be done with it though, get it out of my mind and return it to KU, so that’s the end of this review.
I like the premise of a morally gray heroine and love an unhinged FMC and I'm a fan of feral leading ladies, so the storyline drew me in. BUT. Gwendoline's writing style is not for me. She uses a lot of colorful imagery that's colorful for the sake of colorful but means nothing. There are many examples in the book, but one of the examples/phrases that tripped my high limit switch is in her "About Me" section where she says "And her stories don’t fade to black, they set it on fire" --- what does this mean? What is the "it" that's being set on fire? Who speaks like this irl?? I'm seeing this writing style a lot more often lately and I would like to ask the authors using this style to please stop. Phrases like that feel like the literary equivalent to nails on a chalkboard.
Maple is a prepper. She's ready for the end of times. She has food, safe water, redundant energy supplies, and the means to protect her bunker. What she needs are experts in their field. So she gathers a group of men. No she doesn't ask them to volunteer or join. She stalks them, drugs them, and chains them to a bed in her bunker before she introduces them to their new normal. In a weird and backwards way it manages to work. Funny moments for sure and a quick read if you're capable of suspending belief. 4 stars
If you want to read something with substance, look somewhere else. Despite the blurb, this is bit a love-story. It's insta-lust and insta-love in its truest and I am not here to it. Maybe I'd enjoy it better if the story focused on two characters. All the insta-feelings were rushed even more because we're supposed to read about 5 people from 5 povs. I can't say it was funny, I didn't laugh. It wasn't fun reading the same 'love-story' 4 times in a different font. I guess I can see the appeal, but I didn’t enjoy not a single thing about this book.
