A Jamaican getaway before her best friend’s destination wedding was supposed to be Kennedy’s chance to breathe. Between her literary agent pressuring her to revisit a book she swore she’d never touch again, and her mom picking fights from across the ocean, she needed a break. A little sunshine and solitude sounded amazing… until her ex-situationship showed up.
Khalil came to the island to unwind after years without a real vacation. A few quiet days before his twin brother’s wedding chaos sounded perfect...until he ran into the woman who walked away with his heart. The maid of honor.
What started as no promises and no complications turned into something neither of them could ignore. Now stuck together under the Caribbean sun, with unresolved tension and nowhere to hide, Kennedy and Khalil have to decide if this is closure… or the start of something real.
How does a woman heal when she has been broken not just from her previous marriage but by her childhood? How does a man who has grown up but is still seen like a un-serious adult by their very judgy father, push through & find love? Well you have to read this book to find out how these people besides their circumstances find love in each other.
First of all, can we talk about this cover? It perfectly captures the vibe of this touching love story! K&K uncovered and confronted their love for each other and found that they not only loved each other but found the person who could heal their tormented hearts. Their story unfolded beautifully. Can’t wait for what’s next from this author!
4 ⭐️ I ate this book up Kennedy and Khalil just worked. This book had me giggling and screaming like girl get your man and stop playing this one line literally summed up how I was feeling at one point…. “He’s a real life book boyfriend, and I'm the annoying female character everyone wants to strangle because-hoe let that man love you!” I definitely enjoy reading books from Mrs. Rielle Knight. Khalil was the epitome of patience & intentional (just like his twin brother) and I loved that for him/them.
“Art is just like love. It grows where you nurture it. And it’s not about perfection, it’s about presence—choosing to show up. Again and again and again.” ~ Khalil Lamar Thompson
I’m so happy Kennedy gave herself a chance at forever with Khalil. His humorous yet loving & thoughtful persistence was top tier. The way they both slowly started to understand how they were seen deeply by the other was absolutely beautiful because to be seen… and understood is definitely “transcendent” 🥰
Ex-situationships forced back into the same space, tropical setting, and a whole lot of tension is exactly my kind of setup. Watching Kennedy and Khalil deal with old feelings, unfinished business, and that “do we try again or let it go” energy kept me locked in. If you’re into second-chance-ish romance, destination drama, and couples who never really got over each other, this one is a fun pick.
He falls first but she doesn’t want more….why? This story was truly more than what meets the eye. Kennedy battled a lot after being broken by her ex-husband in more ways than one, which made it challenging to be open to something genuine with Khalil-it’s much easier to push him away, than commit.. for the fear of history repeating itself. Kennedy also battled with mistreatment from her family and the reason that came to light of the ‘why’, saddened me… just, wow! In spite of it all, Khalil wanted Kennedy, however, her knew she had to make the decision to want him on her own. Khalil also struggled with his family dynamics and the way they saw him. This story was touching, two individuals learning to trust the other with who they truly are and learning to have a voice with their family, setting necessary boundaries. Kennedy had to learn to see love in a different way than what she was conditioned to become accustomed to. Seeing Kennedy heal and grow into an individual that no longer feared love, was warming. Love now became her safety, not her fear!
I enjoyed this book and I love the cover! it had characters that I loved and ones that pissed me off so bad I wanted to write myself in lol. (I like diversity) anywho miss kennedy if you would call her that, had a hard life with her family and love life. Khalil loved her and loved her right to get her back where she needed to be and that was in his orbit! 🤭 this was a cute story and all the while she’s an author writing a story. I feel like their story isn’t over but that’s up to them…..
I enjoyed this book so much Kennedy and Khalil they were definitely a fun time I like the backstory behind it Kennedy family was definitely something else especially her mama and her sister I love that Khalil stood for his self when came to his dad I love that he was patient with Kennedy and I love man that just pays attention to you and your needs because if wanted to he will. Rielle I'm so proud of you this book was good like the first one I can't wait to see what else you have in stored. 🤗☺️

First of all I would suggest you read 8 dates of Christmas first before reading this one but you don’t HAVE to. Second of all RIELLLEEEE!!!!!!!! You did that. You wrote tf outta Kennedy & Khalil. I did start off side eyeing Kennedy but I now understand sis & she’s alright with me. I’m not gone spoil it but Kennedy deserves all the forehead kisses in the world from Khalil
This book takes you through so many valid emotions that many of us don’t think about or try to hide from. It makes you human when you can identify with characters that were written to inspire thoughts, feelings, and healing! Her pen didn’t miss! I love their love and healing!
Loved this book. I was engrossed in the easy banter and the humor, which made for an easy read, but I could appreciate all the emotion and intensity, too. There were a couple of confusing moments when I didn't know/ couldn't remember who was who, but it wasn't enough to take me out of the story.
This was my first read from this author and I'l certainly be reading more from her.
Gah!! Kennedy and Khalil man on man. This story was so good so relatable and touching. How equal parts of them were broken that could only be healed by each other. Chefs kiss
I love Khalil and Kennedy! Their dynamic and connection from book one had me running to grab book two. This book was absolutely everything! Highly recommend
I was so happy that this girl decided to get her head out her ass and let that man love her because she was pissing me off. Overall I loved their jokes and banter and I love that she finally chose him because he was so busy trying to show her that she was worth loving just for him to be wonder if she would choose him. This was a good funny story.
Her family is triflin’ as hell and I wish that Denitra and Kat would’ve gotten dragged. The daddy also needed an ass whooping. Glad that she cut contact with that toxic ass family.
Loved it!!!! Khalil was the definition of a hopeless romantic. He never gave up on love and although he his love healed Kennedy, the reciprocated love from Kennedy also healed him from his own trauma.
