I'm the perfect solider. Feared. Respected. And utterly alone.I don't need friends. I certainly don't need a partner. But the Styx Syndicate has paired me up with Sunny Santiago.
She's everything I'm not—reckless, warm, alive. She laughs during missions, flirts during combat, and treats danger like a dance floor.
I hate her relentless optimism almost as much as I hate how perfectly we work together. Because somehow, despite every attempt to keep her at arm's length, we're unstoppable together.
One moment of weakness in the aftermath of a mission changes everything. I know better than to let anyone close—a weapon that cares is a weapon that fails.
But when a high-stakes mission brings Sunny's tragic past crashing into our present, I'm faced with an impossible remain the emotionless killer I was created to be...
Or risk everything to protect the one person who makes me feel...something again.
Lone Wolf is a Red Rivals story starring one very damaged ice queen who loves her solitude and one very determined (but also damaged) ray of sunshine who has made it her mission to melt the ice. It's best to read the Red Rivals books in order because there are major SPOILERS for the rest of the series in this book.
This book also contains spoilers for the Colombo Family Duet.

Mafia syndicate with a heart and a purpose. Scarred characters learning to survive . There is beauty to overcoming trauma and finding teamwork, trust and love while healing. A beautiful love story.
Another thrilling read of Persephone Black and the amazing mafia romance. This is Ariadne’s story. She is now a recruit at the Syndicate even though she is beyond advanced but she has to earn her status. It’s kind of hard to do when she skips therapy, ices everyone out and is always on guard. Sunny is kind and warm and personable. Total opposites. They are paired to spar as a team and find that they move well together. They also seem to see more in each other than meets the eye.
Well written and engaging read! Loved the pace and the spice flowed well with the story. Highly recommend!!
Persephone Black never fails to deliver. Every book drop has been a binge read. I cannot wait to see what character she chooses for her next book! She has not disappointed yet.
Persephone Black is one of my favorite sapphic authors and she always delivers in her ongoing mafia series. Lone Wolf is a surprising addition to that series because the Syndicate is not under outside threat but are using their organization to bring down those who do bad things to women and girls.
In the midst of doing the right thing, Ariadne is struggling to shed her past and become something more than she thought she ever could. That only way to find that path is with Sunny Santiago by her side.
There are some spicy scenes which we all know Persephone writes extremely well.
Ariadne/Sarah gets her chance. Not only to prove herself worthy of being on the Styx’s team but also to show she is capable of doing the things how the Styx Syndicate does it not what was inbred in her mind by Grandmother. That part has been hard and skipping therapy is not going to help. But when Lyssa & Scarlett bring back from the recent mission, a woman who was also under Grandmother’s control, things start to take a very different turn. Add to the mix, Sunny Santiago. There is something about this woman that seems to get to her but she is not sure why and knows she must control her emotions. But Sunny has other ideas. She is a new recruit vying for the same role on the team. Sunny also can’t get Ariadne off her mind. Her control is impressive, her demeanor is stoic but she is hot and in wicked shape and Sunny just wants to break that tough exterior. Sunny has a mission of her own. But when they are teamed together for a mission, definitely a test by Ariadne standards, things happen. For one stupid moment, Ariadne lets her guard down and she finds herself in an uncomfortable position and doesn’t know why. Again we have the team back and probably getting ready for their toughest mission. Love this group!
Sarah aka Ariadne is at the Styx Syndicate, but she knows she's being judged as one of Grandmother's agents. Worse, one of the trainees is annoying her... possibly too much.
Sunny has joined the Syndicate for a reason, but she's distracted by the cool but gorgeous Ariadne. She's also one of the few fighters who's her match, surprising her.
Ariadne is NOT happy when they start getting paired up in combat and missions, but Sunny is determined to crack her shell. Then we find out why Sunny is there...
I kinda went 'huh' at the psychiatrist, I'm not a expert but I don't think you're supposed to treat unwilling clients. Also, once Sarah learned her sessions were NOT confidential between her and the Doc, she should have said 'fuck this.'
Such a good story! I love and devour all of Persephone Black’s books; this one is just the latest in a long line of amazing books. This book focuses on Ariadne and Sunny. Again, we are in Elysium and it’s like a visit with old friends… I felt like this book was warmer than the other books by this author. Of course, there is the complexity that comes with a crime syndicate story, and the spicy scenes are definitely spicy, but it seemed to me that this ice queen melted faster than any of the author’s previous ice queens, and that little change was very nice!
A lovely redemption for a character that seemed to have none.
Ariadne seemed irredeemable in the first books about her, and spoiler, she's not. She just needed the right girl, somebody who could see past the barrier she threw up, could see past the walls. It's a good lesson, because lots of us in the world have put up walls around ourselves out of fear and desperation, and it's good to remember that the right person will see right through it all
Ariadne story is about her survival after Grandma's training. She is trying to reconnect with her feelings but is having a hard time she is the ice queen the perfect soldier. Sunny is popular funny and just vibrant everything Ariadne is not. Sunny is determined to break the ice, until things changed for her and then it's Ariadne that step up to help. A great story of two women coming together and surviving their pasts.
The author recommends reading her prior mafia books and I agree. With each book she builds on the saga, picking up where the last left off, adding new characters but keeping the old. This book has several stories woven in, but 2 strong and exciting new characters. The connection between these women is electric, the story dynamic and action exciting. I hope these tales continue!
Since the story between Ariadne and Sunny is only one book long, it felt a bit rushed. However the story itself was nicely paced in this constraint. I think I wish it was 2 books like her other stories. The development of the plot seemed too fast. I would like to see it slowly pan out. It still is a good story!
I wasn't sure that I would like Ariadne after meeting her in the first two books. But I think the author did an excellent job making her likeable. I just have a little complaint, the book needed more sex.
Fantastic read!! I love this author, her books are so good. Filled with excitement, being lost, finding yourself, finding love and healing. I don’t know if there will be another book to this story, I won’t be mad if there is. 🤗
Heartbreaking trauma, intense action that leaves you on edge. True love prevailes in this unique set of breathtaking strong woman finding their true love and healing. A 5🌟 am the way.
I loved this book. It was amazing in all the ways that Persephone's books always are. Seeing the development of a well established character in the last two books was beautiful. The way we were able to see her work through her trauma and really begin to heal was *chef's kiss*.
I really enjoyed Ariadne's story, I'd hoped after Red Rivals she would get her own and I'm glad she did this was a wonderful tie in to Scarlett and Lyssa's story and an excellent way to wrap up the stories of the Styx Syndicate (at least for now)
This is a fantastic captivating storyline, I was hooked from the beginning. Excellent writing that is simply superb. I can't wait for the next instalment.
I really enjoy how the author’s books are all interconnected—it adds so much depth to the reading experience. I'm definitely hoping for a sequel to this one!
Love love love this author! The entire series is 10/10. My fav will always be the first instalment, but I absolutely loved Sarah/Ad the stone cold masc rep is what I live for😍
