Since this is the author's first attempt, I will tone down the criticism. I'm not a Chetan Bhagath fan, am barely a teen anymore. It was a mistake to ask me to review this book. The target demographic should be 14-15 year-olds.

No, I did not like this book. I am sick of boy-meets-girl and nothing happens. No chatting is not a new approach to the story. It is a tried and tested method. Read Cecelia Ahern's Where Rainbows End

Even then I could maybe stomach if the writing was captivating. It was not. I'll leave it at that for now. If you want to read my full-rant, click on the spoiler button.

I was sent this book to review. I hope the author doesn't regret it now. I failed to connect with the characters and the language really didn't resonate with me. I am sure for the readers of chetan bhagat this book would be a breathe of fresh air as it matches the tone and style of writing. I however don't enjoy that style of literature. apologies to the author but this was just not for me. Good luck with the writing ahead.

I got this ebook from the author. It was a mistake to ask me to review this book. The target demographic should be 14-15 year-olds. It is completely teenage stuff with no twists or message.

I received the e-book from author. I am sorry but no matter how much I try I cannot provide much of a positive response. I read the book (somehow) and here is my review.

Considering it was a self-published book, and first attempt at that I would start by saying that this review is not to discourage or disrespect the author.
The plot is simple and straight out of the lives of most of us who lived their teenage/adolescent life between the period of year 2000-2010. Well, Ashu, out of curiosity, begin chatting experience as Junglecat through yahoo flirting chatrooms. After a series of desperate messages Junglecat finally finds a person with an ID Lionking. After that first half of the book continues in chat logs, which unfortunately adds nothing unique but what all the yahoo chatters have randomly experienced at one time or another. There were jokes and riddles, popular and copied from internet, nothing unique again, though it did bring up nostalgia. By the end of first half Lionking is shown almost in love with Junglecat, and then comes up a twist.

And I never knew that women can have orgasm just by a sexual or even non-sexual chatting (without self-touching), or presence of a guy around or a light kiss. In fact, some years back the existence of female orgasms was a debatable topic. I agree that women can have multiple orgasms, but for each of them they need appropriate stimulation. Also, the portion involving character named Ruby skipped me too. Was the author trying to justify that a guy (whop is actually a girl) having sexual talks with Ruby was alright, but Ruby doing the same wasn’t alright. In my opinion, if that sexual talk was faulty, they were both at fault, and equally. Also, Ashu was at fault too, because I don’t see why I wouldn’t call their chatting sexual. Anyhow, I would say that it is Author’s own opinion and he has every right, and I have my own right to find it biased.
Next, let’s talk about the prose, author’s language and style. Style is too weak, almost no creativity at all. It seemed as if I was reading through a copy paste of someone’s chatlogs. Alright may be what I am saying is relevant to the first half only, but that makes the second part even more ridiculous. Whatever happened to a writer needing to describe things in details, adding emotions through words, creating scenes through actions and not by telling? In fact, I would have loved it more if the Author had actually done a bit of detailing through ‘telling’ also. Language was simple, and not without errors. If first half was reading through chatlogs, second half was as if reading through the diary of a twelve year old kid.
I think I would leave at that, and save myself the trouble of adding more criticism. In truth I wanted to leave the book right when I was at chapter one, but I continued further ahead only so I could atleast add another review the book’s profile (even if negative) for the Author’s marketing effort by giving away free ebooks (I wonder if he is regretting doing that already, though). I would recommend the book to those who doesn’t care about language, and can read anything that is given to them, and like to read chatlogs.

I got your Ebook
And i have finished the book in just 2 days only
I have my opinion on book is
Although its your 1st attempt that we have to keep in mind but frankly saying i felt your book is more like article too much social issues u have discussed from shivling to baby girl abortion that content was general too and it was kind of informative talk between juglecat and lionking.
Sorry but i could not enjoy the essence of romance happening between ashu n radha further u have tried to portrait other character abhi and meeta very typical like filmy or tv melodrama soap type which i could not connect there.

Only one thing i like about your book is you have really used very easy and routine language to express the feelings n views of character which perhaps carries interest in reader to read fully.

As it don't takes much time to read book. Overall i fee your book is 2.5 from 5 ( that too keeping in mind that this is your 1st endeavor in writing)

I hope you will not mind for my straight opinion but i being honest reflected pure view about book geniunly.

I feel you can surely write better than this

All the best dear

I got the soft copy of the book from the author for an honest review. I would do just that.

its a love story basically , the story which starts from a chat room with some dirty talk and ends up some twists and turns.
A female lead enters the room for some fun. The room is full of guys and girls just wanting sex , chat sex to be precise.
She meets a guy who is little different , he wants sex but is not direct about it. the story continues with lots of chat conversation and goes on and on.

The concept of the book narration moving as a chat conversation was nice.
The language is pretty easy and i was able to breeze through the book. it took 5 hrs to finish the book.
the characters are Ok , i was not able to like them much. For me if i like the characters I end up liking the book.

A decent read , can be read for some light reading .

I give this book 2.5 / 5

A love story. I don't have the words to express it. I have mixed feeling for this story. The plot is simple with a small half way twist. Things go pretty vague. The author could not portray the feelings of the characters involved.

The book is written in chat format. You read a typical Yahoo Messenger chat between 2 people( male and female) , hence all the grammatical mistakes and typos must(compulsive) be ignored or else you will leave it half way between.
The story line is routine with a few pervert jokes taken from the internet.
The number of pages doesn't matter. I say its an easy read not a great read.

It’s basically a love story, with many elements suspended between the fantastic and the realistic that make this an original work, reading nice and smooth and the characters that immediately get into the heart of the reader.

An atypical story of love and hope from which emerge the intense taste for a dense narrative and fairytale, with the colourful descriptions tell an epic of passion and optimism.

The title of the novel is highly effective and grip on the reader, as also the love story that is told is worthy of attention, narrated in a imperious and penetrating style, extremely delicate and never boring.

Luv.net by Bharti Mohan is a made of teenage stuff – romance, web chat, sex chat, the idealistic “I-can-change-the-world” philosophy, the predictable happy ending. It is targeted at the romance-loving age groups and first-time readers of the English novel. Published by Partridge Publishing India – a self-publication platform operated by Author Solutions LLC in partnership with Penguin Books India – the book is a breezy read, tries to be funny, does not tax your brains, and is written in simple language.

The story is based in the heyday of internet chatting in 2001-2002, when Yahoo Messenger was way more popular and aspirational than Google Hangout can ever dream of being. Junglecat and Lionking begin their friendship in the Flirt Chat chatroom of Yahoo Messenger and go through several phases of trust before confiding in each other their true identities and starting a long-term real-life relationship. The book is divided into two parts – the first part focuses on internet identities while the second part moves on to real identities of the characters.

I personally found the first part more interesting than the second one, especially because the chat language, conversation format and jokes that seemed natural in the formal, “unknown” webchat scenario lost their teeth when the story shifted to real life and required more narration and dialogues that should have sounded less clunky. English may not be the language Bharti Mohan is used to writing in, but the novel suffers from ponderous Indianised English at many levels.

Anyone in India who was introduced to the internet and chatting in the early 2000s can relate to the conversation and the story. The first part makes a statement on the senseless chatting in those early days, and with the profusion of social media options today – Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter – the message is still relevant. However, the author does not overdo the preaching in that department – he merely makes sure you get the point, and then moves on to other points he wants to make.

And Bharti Mohan does have a lot of points to make. In the first part he touches upon environmental cleanliness and eco-friendliness, women’s empowerment and female foeticide, and a bit of social reformation. In the second part, the caste system in India and the reservation for various communities, and the fickleness of social display of wealth are critiqued. However, he has taken care to avoid making these social evaluations meddle with the flow of the story, and dialogues centering these issues sound just how they would when two or more friends are gathered around discussing them.

If I may be permitted a minor digression and nitpicking, a problem I had with the story is that it showed a woman as being able to have an orgasm at the drop of a hat. Being a woman myself, I think that is ridiculous. Women hardly get a proper orgasm in life. Men can “come” in less than five minutes, but women aren’t made that way. They need stimulation, foreplay, good hard thrusts and a lot of love. If men think women come soon, it’s probably only because the fairer sex is great at deception and at faking orgasms.

Since the entire story is built on conversation (webchat format), it is almost like a play. And because the exchange is in webchat/SMS lingo, it spares the author and editor any scrutiny from language Nazis. Despite that, there were a few typos and grammatical errors that could have been avoided with a careful eye. The only reason I’m mentioning grammar and spelling is that one of the persistent problems in self-publication or independent publication is lack of good editing.

The language of the novel belongs to the nouveau-English speaker. Luv.net does not boast of any outstanding writing style, narrative technique or literary value, but manages to keep itself floating on the novelty of the tale. The book belongs to the post Chetan Bhagat-era of English novel writing in India, where a simple love story seeks to attract aspirational English readers in the Indian subcontinent.

The story line opens in the year 2001 with Internet chat rooms providing the framework for the evolution of characters and the play. The story serves to create a flash of reminiscences in the minds of readers who grew up signing into Yahoo Messenger and spending long hours coping with a deluge of simultaneous messages laden with voyeurism. The initial chapters attempts to portray the repetitive yet wild perversions that are anonymously fed into those virtual rooms without fear and without remorse. For those who never tried these chat rooms first hand, the narrative serves as an eye opener.

The characters are too plain and their interactions are mundane. The evolution of story is relatively predictable despite the author's attempts to take the reader through a series of blind alleys. Although an attempt has been made to portray the characters as being socially sensitive, the voyeuristic overdose neutralizes the so called noble image. However, the author doesn't wish to idealize any character and as far as possible tries to keep them rooted in reality.

I am sure, it will be a hot fantasy for teenagers and young adults alike. Overall it's a good first attempt. All the very best!

(this review is on request by author)
back in 2001 when chat rooms are new here this story takes place. as you know at that time there are new wordings (luv instead of love) introduced to indians. like that in an flirting chat room two people become friends. and how their relation grows.. in between a twist. and story goes as expected .flatly. i am not revealing full story here .
to be frank i felt the novel is just like took PDF of chats and printed it. made a cover ,and labelled as novel. 'the sweet nothing talks' (if you loved you know what i mean) , romance, too filmy story ( not bad as the indian romantic fiction these days) .
personally i am not fond of romantic novels.. this novel is romantic but if you love chat room sessions you may like it.
suggested for 16- 18 age group. strictly.lol

I got this book through goodreads giveaway. The book is about romance and intends to attract youngsters. However, author has not been very successful in his goals. Though, a decent read for starters, the book is not so great for avid readers. Again, author is in the starting phase of his writing journey, so it's a bit too early to count him out. I wish him all the best for future writings and hope that they are better.
