I hate cheating. Spoilers below
I couldn't stomach H lying to h while being in a committed relationship and going to his sex club (that she doesn't even know he owns) to play a game called "chase" where all women are put up for a chase, primal play and the host/organiser/H - hunts them down and performs sexual acts on them.
The game was pre- planned, he knew he was going to play it but since he wasn't going to stick his dick in them (this time), it makes it okay acc to him. h is an unknowing participant, that gets put there without consent. He doesn't know she's one of them and doesn't rescue her even after finding out - why rescue? because the rules of the games states all but the winner will be killed.
She gets violated with a sex toy that H controls and in his pov he's performing it on a random women not knowing it was her actually and later when he finds out, he doesn't stop the game. He still plays it, touches ow, while h, from her pov is suffering, scared to death, gets violated with a toy by a random man (it's not non con, fight me on this) and then to win the game and find out it was her boyfriend hosting the game for all those other women.
Hair pulling, Restraints (of entire body), Use of sex toys, Sensory play, Branding, Anal, Vaginal, penetration, Choking, Biting ,Spitting,Rough play, Role play, Self-gratification, Edging, Orgasm denial, Torture, Degradation, Cold conditions, Extreme temperature play, Being hunted for sport Humiliation, Death. --- list of what will be done to them by the host(i.e H). Shit side characters too, her bff is rooting for the cheater and his brothers doing their best to get him to play the game, well knowing he was in a serious relationship is just ew. Barely any grovel, she's pregnant so she goes back to him and he gets shot so all is forgiven. The best part, she blames herself and asks him to forgive her for pushing him away 🤦♀️

The way I ATE THIS UP!! I always love Luna's books, but this might be my favorite to date!! The banter between Conan and Hallie is my absolute favorite! I was laughing at so many different parts. And the chemistry between them....sheesh it's so hot that I can feel it while I'm reading! Plus seeing Conan be down so bad had me loving him so much. And to top it off, we get some 'good boy' moments and I was a puddle on the floor! Everything about this was pure perfection for this series!

This is a Dark Mafia Romance, and this is the second book in the Beneath the Blaze series. I have read the first book in this series before picking up this book, but I do think you could read this book as a standalone. There are a lot of things in this book that could trigger a reader. I read this book by listening to the audiobook for this book, and I really enjoyed the audiobook. I really enjoyed this book, and I got pulled into this story. The characters in this book are just so great. I enjoyed the mixture of suspense, drama, and romance. I did not love the erotica stuff mixed in this book, but I see what the author was doing with it. I love how much Conan loves Hallie. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

But what I got??? Was actually SO MUCH MORE.
If the LORD series had a baby with Willing Prey, you would get Ignite—and I ATE. THIS. UP. 👏🔥
First of all—apparently I have a “hunt me” kink now???
Was I aware of this before? No.
Will I be exploring this further in my reading choices? Also no… but also maybe yes??? 😭
Conan??? Sir???
This man is VIOLENT. Morally gray. Absolutely unhinged.
And yet the way he fixates on Hallie??? The way he chases her???
I was locked in.
Hallie, on the other hand, is dealing with grief and trying to hold onto the pieces of herself, and I really loved how she didn’t just immediately fold. She sees Conan for what he is—and STILL gets pulled in. The tension between who he is and what she believes in??? CHEF’S KISS. 👌
Their relationship is messy, intense, and honestly a little toxic—but in that way where you cannot look away. The push and pull had me fully invested the entire time.
Also—this is technically book 2 in the Beneath the Blaze series and I had NO IDEA going in. Zero confusion. No issues. You can absolutely read this as a standalone.
Now let’s talk audio 🎧
The narration??? SO GOOD. Like truly elevated the entire experience. The emotion, the tension, the delivery—ALL of it worked.
BUT. I do need to say it.
Why… are… all… mafia men… IRISH… lately??? 😭
I am BEGGING the dark romance community to branch out. The accent wasn’t bad, but it’s starting to feel a little overdone and occasionally pulled me out of the story.

Arc Review!!!
I’ve loved Luna Mason’s book since I started with Keller and Sienna last year. However I think Conan and Hallie take the cake as my favorite Beneath universe couple! This book is officially my favorite book of 2025 so far. It starts as a rom com vibe and about 45% in gives you all the dark romance vibes. Conan has such unique vibes and he is perfection. The twists and turns are just perfection and really keep you on your toes. The plot is so good and hooks you in from the very beginning. I legit didn’t want it to end. 10/10 would recommend.

I actually was enjoying the first 50% of this book until the games started. There was some fun banter and, while intense, I didn’t mind how fast they were falling for each other.
The problem was the second half once the games start. I found them to be extremely problematic and against what they were supposed to be representing, per the characters hosting them. Like, why host games where the point it to give woman new lives away from sex work (faking their deaths) where they are involuntarily entered into the games by the people that own them and they are told with complete certainty that if they lose they will be killed. During these games they’re forced to participate in sexual fantasies of the person hosting these games or immediately lose, this game is Conan’s Primal Play themed event. The author talks about consent and implies that sex has been a heavy part of past games, but is it really consent if you think your options are participating or dying? Keeping in mind, Hallie, when entered by her ex unknowingly, didn’t even know that Conan was tied to the mafia at this point, so as far as she knew she was just kidnapped and entered against her will.
The way she took him back was incredibly frustrating after he put her through that, regardless if you view it as cheating, and the final resolution felt forced due to her pregnancy/his injury.

April 2026 Update:
ALC Reread thanks to Dreamscape Audio and Luna.
This dual narration audiobook was done so well. Both narrators did a phenomenal job capturing the raw emotion felt within this story. Absolutely insane. I also really enjoyed the male voice the female narrator did as it matched similarly to the male narrator which made the story feel really fluid. 5/5 would recommend the audio if you're into that!
Thoughts on the Story:
I absolutely LOVED this story. Having read book 1, they flowed naturally into this story (so I would recommend reading in order) but could also read as a standalone.
Conan will always have my heart, the big chaotic giant with all the laughs, a big heart and a dangerous very protective beast within.
Hallie is so sweet and hella stubborn which leads to a bit of a miscommunication trope but Luna did it so well and I didn’t feel annoyed while reading it.
I cannot wait until this hits audiobook, you KNOW I’ll be signing up for that! (Thank GOD its available now!!!!)

this was SO bad, i cannot believe how many 5 star reviews there are, they honestly had to be bought bc idk how ppl think this was good. I feel bad for the ppl who actually thought this was five stars bc that must mean they’ve been reading shitty ass books. once it got to the hunting game thing plot point i just had to skim the rest, it was literally so random and weird. also its weird how Conan hooked up w/ some of the previous contestants bc they literally thought they were gonna be killed, so idk the consent aspect of that is iffy bc they get a safe word but think if they use it they’ll be killed🤨 so they can’t rlly actually use the safe word even if they want to stop. anyways that whole plot point was weird and unnecessary to me, the author definitely could’ve come up with a better conflict for the couple. also “beastie”?!! 🤢🤮 i HATE that, literally the worst nickname I’ve ever seen, it gave me suck an ick every time I read it.

I really enjoyed Conan and Hallie together. They just clicked for me in a way that felt natural - both of them a little broken, both trying to feel something again, and both able to give and take control depending on what the moment needed. That dynamic was honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole book. Hallie especially stood out. She’s bold, stubborn, reckless, and absolutely not the type to roll over for anyone. One of her early lines - “Right. So what game are we playing? The one where I’m a stupid bitch who takes her cheating ex back? Because I’m not playing.” - told me everything I needed to know about her.
Conan was just as strong of a character. He’s wild, dominant, and carrying so much internal guilt that it shapes everything he does. He definitely falls first, and he falls hard. His devotion to Hallie is intense in a way that fits who he is, and it made his grovel hit even harder. There’s a line he says - “You’ll always be everything to me, Hallie… You are my first and only love, trouble.” - and it just sums up his whole arc. This man loves with his entire being, even when he thinks he doesn’t deserve anything good. And the way he responds to praise - and gives it right back - was chef’s kiss.
The plot was pretty predictable, but honestly, I didn’t mind. The pacing is quick, and the mix of angst, danger, pining, and heat kept me turning pages. I liked that the third‑act breakup happened early so the grovel had a chance to have more impact. It didn’t feel like drama for the sake of drama - it felt like emotional fallout that both characters had to work through. And I appreciated that the story didn’t stop at the breakup. There’s still action and danger afterward, which made the ending feel more complete. Hallie’s reactions also made sense for her character, especially considering what she went through.
The side characters added a lot. Lily brought some needed lightness, Finn was fascinating (and clearly being set up for his own book), and Berdie was just the bestest good boy. I love when the supporting cast actually matters.
The audiobook was great overall. Paige Reisenfeld’s accents and male voices were honestly fantastic, she could’ve carried the whole thing. JD Tomlinson was strong for the male characters too, though his female voices weren’t as good. The only downside was the technical stuff: the audiobook chapters don’t line up with the eBook, and one chapter is missing about a minute and a half. Not the end of the world, but noticeable.

I wasn’t expecting this book to be so much spicier than the first one! I LOVED Conan so much (if you like a groveling but unhinged MMC, this book is for you). The dynamic between him and Hallie was amazing and hilarious and there were a few parts with them that I was literally like “oh sh!t!” 😂 I loved the relationship between him and his brothers and how supportive they are of each other. Also, love another badass FMC in this series.

If you love a dark romance MMC who is only soft for one person you NEED to read Ignite. I liked Conan in Inferno but in Ignite he is everything I didn’t know I needed. Dare I say Conan and Hallie are my new favorite Luna mason couple? Their dynamic and chemistry was top tier. I can’t wait to see where Finn’s story takes us next.

Ok. So I knew walking into this book that I was going to love Conan, but this book was everything and more! Ms. Luna Mason ripped my heart out and put it back together with this book and made me love the Quinn brothers even more than I had before! I can’t wait for more!!!

I knew I was gonna LOVE Conan. This primal, cage fighting beast of a man. He’s such a big softie. I love it. Plus a switch? *fanning myself* I melt for a ‘good boy’ moment.
Hallie is such an amazing character. She’s so fierce, so strong. Her and Conans connection and chemistry was everything.
I love the Quinn brothers and their relationship.
And Lily. I adore her. Her always sticking up for and having Hallies back. Plus she’s a lil spitfire.
Hot as hell spice, funny af parts that had me giggling so bad, emotional connections and moments that tugged on my heart. This book had it all.

The audiobook narration is done by Paige Reisenfeld and JD Tomlinson. Sooo good. They both crushed it! The Irish accents were great from both sides.
Hallie and Conan together had me laughing and the switch between dominance back and forth was a fun change to read about. I loved their nicknames for each other- trouble and beastie. The side characters were good,too. If you like spice and dark romance in the mafia world, you’ll like this one!!!

Would’ve given it 5⭐️ but the nickname was pretty awful and also overused. Like have a bad nickname but then don’t use it aggressively and unnecessarily. But I can overlook that hence the rating. All in all couldn’t put it down and had some surprises which was pretty impressive because normally these are full of cliches!! Definitely a recommended read

I have only read a couple of books by this author and so far this is my favorite. This is the story of Conan & Hallie. Hallie is a nurse that works for Conan’s brother who is a doctor but who is also part of the Irish mafia. The story is fast paced lots of action & some groveling from Conan when he does something Hallie doesn’t think she can forgive him for.
