Love this! The banter between the two main characters is absolutely everything! Dylan isn’t there for any type of distractions but Kai has other plans for her!
The spice is hot and here! A one night stand doesn’t end there (like we all hope) things become very interesting!!!
Kai is an established Rugby player for the Men's team and is quite the ladies man, but far away from home, he's distracted by news of his mother's health and is becoming numb to his own emotions. Along comes Dylan. Dylan has come to train with the club and try out for a spot on the women's team. She's focused, single-minded, and doesn't need anything to distract her from her goal of getting a place in the club.
An after practice night out with the women's team thrusts her into Kai's attention for a night to never forget.
The book was well written, with characters you could identify with. Dylan's character was strong, unyielding to typical macho arrogance, and she held her own in challenging him. Which is great to read! Kai's character revealed the emotions of man destined to never achieve his greatest goal and battling with feelings of inadequacies in his family life.
And the spice! Well, blimey! Their activities were written in a way that you felt you were in the room with them, feeling the tension build and their intimacy grow whilst still having a great back and forth banter that never detracted from the action.
And as someone who doesn't know much about rugby, I wasn't bombarded with terms or play, I wouldn't understand! I really enjoyed this book and would absolutely read more of Heidi's books!
Dylan is a tomgirl, and her talent leaves her chasing her dream and becoming a professional rugby player. When she gets a new chance to prove her worth she takes it, and when a new club reaches out to her, she decides to give it a try. Her new teammates one evening after training invite her to a party, but at first, she declines, it's not for her. But she decided to go with the flow, but she wasn't prepared for Kai.
Kai is a player who fights to be as good as he can get. But as a rugby player, he travels a lot and leaves his home behind him. But every girl wants him for a night and he finds himself running for the hard truth, that he blames himself for not sticking around at home. But when Kai sees Dylan at a party, one thing is clear. She is not like any other girl, and that is just what he needs. He wants her and take the chance.
Spending time with the most beautiful women he has ever been with, he soon realized she is the only one he can be himself with. At both of them can`t seem to let go. But their life goes in seperat ways, and Kai is force forget her.
Undtil one day he spots the new teammate, a young women he can´t place where he has seen her before. But Dylan is a change women.
Will they two of them find each other again, and can their livestyle be united.
Dylan & Kai are PERFECT. witty banter & spicy scenes? sign me up 2x
This book was *Chefs Kiss*. I appreciate how the characters had doubts, BUT it’s not repetitive & overdone. We get overthinking, doubts, and a bit of self loathing from both characters but then they rally. The book isn’t boring, and it has some dirty talking as well as on page spicy scenes. (I will not confirm nor deny how good Kai was at it). My only issue was the 6+ “adult time” in a span of a few hours. Sounds physically impossible and i kept thinking. “That’s 3x in less than an hour!” Unless i didn’t understand the timeline correctly.
Kai’s character has depth. We get into his mind of him leaving home. His regrets, his wanting to do better with communication but not knowing how. (We see all the deleted texts and personally i can relate).
Dylan, being a girl in rugby can be hard. Constantly having to prove yourself and be doing Ted from EVERYONE leads her to overthinking. Even though she is amazing. I’m glad we see her progression from Doubtful to “this is routine” but she amazes everyone.
Highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a quick palate cleanser inbetween books.
I received this as an ARC and all I can say is wow!
If you’re looking for a book that grabs you by the collar and refuses to let go, Quick Tap by Heidi Stark is exactly what you need. From the first page, Stark knows how to weave tension, chemistry, and unrelenting passion into a story that leaves you breathless. The characters? Electric. Their connection? Explosive. The plot? A rollercoaster of emotion and thrills you won’t see coming.
What I loved most was how Stark masterfully built the slow burn of desire, teasing just enough to keep you hooked while delivering moments of scorching heat that hit at all the right times. The banter between the leads is sharp and witty, balancing the steam with enough heart to make you care about the stakes.
There’s no holding back in Quick Tap. If you like your reads to sizzle and your characters to spark, Heidi Stark delivers in a big way. Trust me, this book will have you turning pages faster than you can say "game on."
Quick Tap dives straight into the world of professional rugby, where raw ambition, intense competition, and sizzling chemistry collide. Kai and Dylan. 😍 She’s not here to be a distraction—or be distracted—especially not by the arrogant star player who’s used to getting whatever (and whoever) he wants.
What sets this story apart is the palpable tension both on and off the field. The dynamic between the two leads is electric, with sharp banter and undeniable heat fueling their interactions. When a bet leads to one night of no-strings-attached passion, it ignites something far more complicated than either of them expected.
If you’re looking for a spicy, high-stakes sports romance where fierce ambition meets undeniable attraction, Quick Tap delivers a thrilling, passionate ride.
Dylan and Kai leave you annoyed and wanting to throw your Kindle the first few chapters with their insecurities and self doubt, but I promise you just hang in there for the ride that comes afterwards. You'll get whiplash with the change in their attitude. It gets HOT, and you'll be clutching your pearls with the biggest shit eating grin. I'm ready for more of their story.
"Then take me somewhere we can actually break shit." Kai's grin is all teeth. "Say less."
A hand snakes around my throat, tilting my head back so his lips can brush my ear. "Come for me again. I want to feel you shake." -Kai
A quick spicy read. Dylan goes and tries out for the professional rugby team and after a successful win in the scrimmage her and a few teammates go out to dinner and then a bar. While at the bar she catches the eye of Kai and they have some witty banter before going to a hotel for a one night stand and she goes home soon after. While home she gets her official email to come for the pro team as an assistant captain. A few months later Kai checks team roster but can figure out why he knows her name and face. If you want a quick read grab this and if you haven’t read Rucked as well.

I received this amazing prequel to Rucked as an ARC! Heidi does it again with a Rugby spicy romance!
I love a good origin story, especially with two characters written so well. Dylan and Kai and how they meet and their one unforgettable night together. The spicy scenes did not disappoint at all. Now, I want to read Rucked again!
Heidi Stark has a way of describing the characters, their actions and the world around them, that makes it come alive in my imagination. I love her writing and was thrilled that she wrote this prequel for my favorite book of hers, Rucked.
Just a good Novella prequel to Rucked! So much spice and angst and I ate it all up.
Gave a nice insight to the beginnings of Dylan and Kai and how it leads into the next book.
Enjoy the slight cliff hanger of what could come in the next book but also wrapped up the story in a nice tight bow!
Since it was a novella, definitely more spice than true plot, but I don't mind that at all. Love me some good steamy non-stop spice! There was enough plot as a prequel but definitely need to read next book Rucked to get more plot and continued spice and enjoy the story as a whole.

Read if you vibe with: -Sports Romance -Rugby -ONS -Novella -Banter
An all night, one night stand that leaves a lasting impression on both participants. A quick hot, dirty read! The banter between Dylan and Kai had me rolling. Dylan is not afraid to give as good as she gets, she’s not shy or timid. A lot of spice packed into this novella and it’s very steamy!
Quick Tap is the prequel novella to Rucked by Heidi Stark.
I received an ARC copy of this novella. It was really good. It was short and sweet. It was a great introduction to Dylan, the FMC, and Kai, the MMC. It is written in a dual POV. You really got to understand the inner workings of their minds in this novella. You got to see how they biew themselves, their relationships, their rugby ability, and their perception of those around them.
This was honestly a great prequel. It made me look forward to picking up the series. Heidi Stark does not disappoint.
I didn't even realize how much I needed "Quick Tap" until I read it! Heidi has done a fantastic job with this prequel that dives into the backstory of Kai and Dylan. In "Rucked," you catch glimpses of their history, but this novella fills in all the gaps and really enhances what you already love about their relationship.
Reading "Quick Tap" gave me insight into their connection, and I found myself appreciating them even more. It's like getting the missing puzzle pieces that make the whole picture clearer. If you enjoyed "Rucked," you'll definitely want to pick up this prequel. It adds so much depth to their story and makes their journey even more special. Highly recommend it!
If you've read Rucked by Heidi Stark, you'll love this prequel. This is a short but very spicy origin story of Dylan and Kai. It starts off showing how dedicated they are to the game of Rugby. Then, one night out with teammates, Dyan attracts the attention of Pretty Boy Kai. She doesn't even do it on purpose. That's what catches Kais' attention, the fact she's not like the other girls. The spice between the two explode from there.
It got me from page one. It was captivating, and steamy only a few chapters in. And it made a natural progression towards the end. Which ends in a cliff hanger. So if that is on your “don’t read” lists then, its not for you. But if your ok with w short steamy read you can read at work, or the subway, (but don’t let people read over your shoulder! You could also read it alone in bed at night. 😉 🌶️ 🥵
This was definitely a short read. BUT it did not lack on the chemistry, character, or spice! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The only thing I wish is it would give a little more insight to their future ( and I just seen where it links with Rucked) so I will be reading that as well. I love me some Kai and Dylan and can’t wait to see what more Heidi comes up with 🩵🖤
This book is the prequel to Rucked. It shows how Kai and Dylan actually meet and a little bit of backstory on what is going on in their lives.
The night they meet is such a spicy "one night stand." At least that is what they think it's supposed to be, until they start thinking about each other after the night of their wild encounter.
This one is such a good prelude to “Rucked”! If you need a “Quick” spicy read this one is the best to go with! I loved Kai and Dylan’s back story! And let me tell you is SO SPICY!! Like they really went for it in this one nighter! lol 5 stars!! Love this Heidi and of course love you and all your books!
This was the perfect prequel to Rucked! I loved that we got the opportunity to learn more about Dylan and Kai and how it all began.
It was a quick read, with no shortage of spice! Dylan and Kai had undeniable chemistry. The banter and steam between them was everything! Now, I need to go and reread Rucked!
I loved Kai when I read Rucked, so I was really looking forward to this novella. And it did not disappoint!! It was a quick read, but I loved the look it gave us into how they met and got together. His banter with Dylan was amazing, and the spice was off the charts. This was an amazing read and I’m looking forward to more from this series!!
This is a quick steamy novella, two rugby players out to blow off steam. Kai from some personal issues and Dylan is out with some of the girls from her team. If you're looking for a good spicy read of a one night stand this is the prequel novella you need. Make sure to read on to Rucked for more of their story.
This was a fact paced book that followed two main characters. It was a little too fast in terms of like being confusing to read but when there were emotions, you could feel it. It was a bit relatable as well. I did read this book within a few hours so I definitely recommend this book for someone who likes the spice and fast pace.
Oh the spice of the one night stand that they can't forget. Kai and Dylan's attraction was instant and steamy, they balanced each other's banter, and for one night gave each other the exact things they needed. Both really not wanting to feel but feeling all the potential.
I had to instantly download the next book to get the rest of their story.
This story is about how Dylan and Kai met and how their relationship started. It's a spicy novella that will keep you turning the page. It's the prequel to Rucked. It's a hockey romance. I enjoyed seeing how Dylan and Kai started, it made sense seeing how they interacted in Rucked. Definitely recommend this book!!
Dylan and Kai have such electric chemistry, fun, flirty, and full of heat. It’s a quick, steamy read that totally pulled me in. As a prequel novella to Rucked, it’s the perfect intro to the series and left me wanting more of their story. Definitely worth picking up if you love sports romance with heart and spice.
I loved this novella! Getting to know that Dylan met Kai before and the Deja vu moment! And still spicy ! If you haven’t read Rucked yet read this first and then rucked or vice versa either way it’s a score!! Go lucky to have been a ARC reader for this !!!
this was definitely a short read but damn was it good. this author never disappoints. it was nice to get a bit of background from these characters. you guys should totally pick this one up if you are looking for good spice... and story lol
🌶🌶🌶🌶 Holy hot and heavy. Goodness gracious these two are in for trouble. What a spontaneous dynamic to kick out off and a cliffhanger of an ending!! Their rugby careers are about to get a whole lot more intersting.
