This is a wonderful story at the heart of it is love and the many forms it takes. Lou thought her life was going well after building up her life after an abusive marriage ended in tragedy. Then all of a sudden she needs to find a new home but at least she has her job. When the job goes she is upset but understands. She is a caregiver a role that she fell into and loved.
In a turn for the worst she bumps into the worlds most grumpiest octogenarian Edgar Allsopp. He mistakenly thinks she is about to attack him when they trip into each other. He then asks her to drive him home in his mini. He happens to be the owner of Foxwell Hall. Edgar wants her to move in and look after him. Lou needs a job but he is far too miserable to be stuck with.
Edgar decides to make her an offer. His offer means that she would leave the area she knows to be closer to someone who she has her eye on. He is not available so another distraction is on the way, is the object of her desire doing the same thing?
We also see how Lou changes how Edgar views the world and there is a beautiful moment towards the end of the book that had me in tears. Edgar makes a monumental mistake and he is powerless to change it.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the book tour hosted by Random Things Tours.
Provise me is a heartwarming read about Lou. Lou has lost everything being left homeless and jobless in Birmingham. After a short stay in the Cotswolds Lou received a job offer from Edgar ( a grumpy eighty year old man ). Lou is hesitant to take him up on his offer due to his grumpiness but he is persistent and makes her an offer she just can't turn down. Lou begins her new job in a new town as Edgar's live-in-carer. Lou sets out to turn things around for Edgar and herself and wants to change his life and make him enjoy it again (which is very hard when he is so hard to please). Lou certainly has her work cut out for her. We also meet Remy - the handsome brother of her friend whos a bit of a ladies man. Lou sets out to avoid being another of his conquests. I didn't like Della when she turned up on the doorstep and was very weary of her character. Each character had a side story cleverly interwoven within the main story and I felt so many emotions throughout this book! And I completely fell in love with little Captain Oates! I suggest having tissues at the ready for this book - you'll definitely need them.

Lou is een weekend op bezoek in het pittoreske dorpje Foxwell als ze op de parkeerplaats van de supermarkt kennismaakt met de chagrijnige Edgar Allsopp, die, nadat hij haar heeft beschuldigd van een poging tot beroving, nogal wat dringende verzoekjes voor haar heeft. Deze excentrieke tachtiger woont helemaal alleen in een groot landhuis en heeft een inwonende hulp nodig, en Lou lijkt hem de perfecte kandidaat voor die baan – of de enige, omdat hij al veel werknemers heeft verjaagd. Lou staat daar niet echt voor open, maar als ze haar baan en haar huis verliest en Edgar een wel heel bijzondere regeling voorstelt, besluit ze het toch een kans te geven. Zal ze weer wat vreugde in zijn leven kunnen brengen?

De leuk neergezette personages brengen leven in de brouwerij, creëren opschudding en drama maar zijn er ook voor elkaar, ze zorgen voor verrassingen en schuwen grote gebaren niet. Hierdoor blijft het verhaal afwisselend, wordt het geen moment saai en worden de verschillende perspectieven mooi met elkaar verbonden, al had ik over enkele elementen en achtergronden graag nog uitgebreider willen lezen.
Dit is een hartverwarmend verhaal over de kracht van aandacht en omkijken naar elkaar, over echte vriendschap, liefde, begrip, eerste indrukken en verandering, over kiezen voor geluk, wat miscommunicatie en interessante afspraken, over charmante façades en twee gezichten, over verdriet en vreugde. De warme, vloeiende, luchtige, beeldende en vlotte schrijfstijl van Jill Mansell zorgt zorgt voor uren puur leesplezier en dit fijne en meeslepende verhaal zal je feelgoodhart als een zonnetje verwarmen!

A light hearted read full of awful people that seem to have been written in to provide shock factor and depth, but instead they just provided heavy amounts of annoyance.
It's frustrating reading a book full of adults who just don't seem to have their stuff together and not because they are still on their way to figuring themselves out (fair and can happen at any moment/age in your life) but just because they are somewhat cruel, enjoy being spiteful and act as though they aren't aware of how negatively they impact others around them - even though the internal monologue and narration provided, proves that they are all more than well aware.
There are many different characters and storylines to get accustomed to that I am not actually sure who the main character was supposed to be even though the story is apparently about Lou.
Edgar's final decision was supposed to redeem him for making other decisions out of spite...it doesn't.
I suspect that I simply went into this book expecting way too much and maybe being misled by the synopsis.
It really isn't bad but it really isn't great either.

I love this author, and this book certainly didn’t disappoint. We are taken on a wonderfully heart-warming journey of love and friendships with the main character Lou. Lou is visiting her childhood friend, Sammy when she bumps into grumpy 80-year-old, Edgar Allsopp. Edgar isn’t the easiest man to get on with, but he seems to take a begrudging shine to Lou and makes her an offer she can’t refuse. I loved Lou’s character and connected with her straight away. I’ve worked as a carer and have come across many grumpy old men like Edgar in my time and knew right from their first meeting that they would end up being friends.
The storyline moves along at the perfect pace, building up not only Edgar and Lou’s relationship, but also Lou’s relationship with childhood friend, Remy. Remy was lovely and I soon realised why Lou had fell for his charms so easily the first-time round – I just hoped she trod more carefully this time! Most of the characters were likeable and I was caught up with their storylines. I have to admit to not really liking Della, but I suppose that was the whole point! My favourite had to be our four-legged friend, Captain Oates and I thought the relationship between him and Edgar was just absolutely delightful!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, there was so much to be captivated by. Each of the characters has their own little side story, yet they all come together so well. It did have me in tears at certain parts of the book, but there was still plenty of fun, love and laughter throughout. This was the perfect book for me, and I was sad to finish it! "It just went to show, you never knew when one seemingly insignificant action might cause another that was capable of changing your life."
Sometimes you just need a simple and quick light-hearted read like Promise Me that doesn't have you ponder the meaning of life or think about the cheating love scandals that muddle up your life. Sometimes you just need to sit back and relax and travel to a small rural Foxwell Town and take care of a grumpy old man and move into his lavish home, with the promise that once he passes away, he'd leave his entire inheritance to you.
And along the way, you re-discover the meaning of friendship, re-kindle first crushes, and genuinely learn that despite the first impressions someone makes on you, everyone is capable of change and no matter how unsavory their behavior may be, deserves a little bit of kindness and happiness.
This was a lovely heart-warming story that sang with all the delights of a typical cozy Hallmark film, complete with the cozy British feel-good warm fuzzy feelings of a large and loud colorful cast of characters that charm their way into your heart with their frantic antics and lovable moments. 🥹🥹 Simply an endearing and light read that makes you want to move to the countryside when all else fails, much like, Lou, our heroine did.
And with that, she discovers so much more about herself, helps the people around her, genuinely just cares to do what's right. Edgar, the old man set upon living life to the fullest before he passes away, does push her to her limits; but, she knows that despite the pay-off she believes she'll receive after, she just wants him to find a bit of happiness, no matter how late in life it comes.
I didn't have much to complain about Jill Mansell's prose - the pacing was fluid, the shift between character POV's was very well-handled - the cast themselves, were such a whimsical and playful and colorful lot, that as you bounced from each of their lives - it is how they inevitably were connected with one another is what made it such a delightful read. 💞💞
Lou's relationship with her best friend, Sammy, and his older brother, Remy (who she's been harboring feelings for since their younger days) was one of the highlights of the story. And Captain Oates, of course! Truly man's best friend, in this case, Edgar - their relationship was so wholesome, so very sweet, so very sad at Edgar's final moments, that had me tearing up.
Plenty of charming laughs, plenty of clever twists, plenty of romantic touches and the special bonds we make throughout life, that while this isn't my usual cup of tea, I was happy to sip alongside this delightful and heartwarming story. ✨✨

Gelezen voor het boekentoernooi en het viel me niet tegen. Een makkelijk verteerbaar verhaal dat voorspelbaar maar ook wel grappig was.

Lou had a good job, and a flat in Birmingham, but every changes overnight and she’s homeless and unemployed. Lou recently stayed with her friend Sammy in the Cotswold village of Foxwell. Whilst there, she was offered a job by eighty-year-old loner Edgar. Edgar is probably the most offensive, grumpy old man ever created and Lou has avoided his numerous calls so far. However, needs must and when he makes an offer that she can’t refuse, she decides to give it a go and becomes Edgar’s live-in carer.
Lou is a good person at heart and is determined that she will make Edgar begin to enjoy life, and slowly, she does begin to make changes, although Edgar is still rude, still grumpy and still hard to please.
Meanwhile Sammy’s brother Remy has begun to catch Lou’s eye. Handsome and charming, with women falling at his feet, Lou is determined that she will not become another notch on his bedpost. Resisting temptation is not easy!
When Della, a woman from Edgar’s distant past arrives on the scene, things change for Lou. She leans on the members of the small community that she’s become part of more than ever and Edgar is going to learn a stark lesson about human nature too.
Whilst Lou and Edgar are the human stars of this book, it is Captain Oates, the tiny rescue dog who really steals the show. Almost as grumpy as Edgar, with a snarl to match, he’s a joy to discover.
Heart warming, emotional, romantic and tear inducing. Once again, Jill Mansell proves she deserves her crown of Queen of Feelgood Fiction.

I received a free copy of Promise Me, by Jill Mansell, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. There are a lot of characters in this book, Lou is my favorite, I did not like Della at all. Edgar took awhile to grow on me, but he did. A nice read.

Op 2 titels na ( die mijn bibliotheek niet meer heeft ) heb ik alle boeken van J.M. gelezen . Ook nu weer weet zij meerdere ( liefdes) verhalen kunstig door elkaar te weven . Het hoofdverhaal gaat over Lou die voor de oude knorrepot Edgar gaat zorgen maar in hetzelfde plaatsje woont ook een goede jeugdvriend van haar met een zeer aantrekkelijke oudere broer , doe daar nog een oude jeugdliefde - met haar kinderen - van Edgar bij + een knorrig asiel hondje en je hebt weer zo'n typisch J.M. verhaal goed voor uren leesplezier .

In ‘Het zonnetje in huis‘ volgen we het verhaal van Lou.
Op zoek naar een baan, woonruimte en wat rust in haar leven, loopt ze per toeval tegen de brompot van het dorpje Foxwell aan wanneer ze haar beste vriend Sammy bezoekt.
Een bijzonder toeval dat haar leven een bijzondere wending geeft.
In dit nieuwste boek van Jill Mansell maken we kennis met Lou, maar zoals altijd in de verhalen van Jill, ook met andere interessante personages.
We lezen dan ook wederom vanuit verschillende perspectieven.
De verschillende perspectieven, de verschillende levens en dus de verschillende verhaallijnen, maken ook dit verhaal weer intrigerend en vlot leesbaar.
Er gebeurt van alles en over het algemeen sluit je de meeste personages ook zonder enige moeite in je hart.
En ondanks de voorspelbaarheid van het genre, weet Jill je in dit verhaal toch weer te verrassen met wat leuke en spannende twists in het verhaal.
Twists die je hart raken, maar je ook soms ook even de adem benemen.
En uiteraard hebben deze allemaal te maken met de personages.
Want naast Lou en de aanwezige spanning tussen haar en de broer van haar beste vriend Sammy, maakt ook Sammy het één en ander mee in zijn leven.
En uiteraard, komt ook het leven van Edgar aan bod. De man waarvoor Lou gaat werken.
Overigens was hij meteen mijn meest favoriete personage in dit boek. Wie kan er nu niet houden van een heerlijke oude brompot als Edgar? En wat zit er schuil achter zijn humeur?
De dynamiek tussen hem en Lou was echt heerlijk en verrassend.
Het deed mij overigens wel denken aan het boek ‘Een man die Ove heet’.
Aan het einde van dit boek, neemt Jill ons mee in een wel heel bijzonder perspectief. Dit is de eerste keer dat ze dit doet in een verhaal. En ondanks dat ik een traantje moest laten, vond ik dit heel erg speciaal.
Gek genoeg gaf het mij ook een soort van hoop. Hoop dat er meer is na dit leven.
Alle personages waren wat mij betreft voldoende uitgewerkt voor dit verhaal en ook hun belang voor het geheel was meer dan duidelijk.
Jill weet als geen ander personages met elkaar te verbinden middels verschillende verhaallijnen en dat vind ik persoonlijk echt een grote kracht in haar verhalen.
Ook zorgt ze altijd voor een fijne afronding aan het einde en dat was bij ‘Het zonnetje in huis‘ ook zeker weer het geval.

Wat mij betreft wel! Jill weet keer op keer je hart te verwarmen met een heerlijk verhaal.
Hoe voorspelbaar ze ook zijn, het is steeds weer een feestje om haar boeken te lezen en zo dus ook ‘Het zonnetje in huis’.
De personages waren heerlijk, hadden allen een geheel eigen karakter en de verhaallijnen waren interessant.
Samen was het een compleet en goed uitgewerkt geheel en was het oprecht weer een heerlijke Jill Mansell!
Een fijne feelgood om in te verdwijnen en om van te houden.
Op zoek naar een baan, woonruimte en wat rust in haar leven, loopt ze per toeval tegen de brompot van het dorpje Foxwell aan wanneer ze haar beste vriend Sammy bezoekt.
Een bijzonder toeval dat haar leven een bijzondere wending geeft.
In dit nieuwste boek van Jill Mansell maken we kennis met Lou, maar zoals altijd in de verhalen van Jill, ook met andere interessante personages.
We lezen dan ook wederom vanuit verschillende perspectieven.
De verschillende perspectieven, de verschillende levens en dus de verschillende verhaallijnen, maken ook dit verhaal weer intrigerend en vlot leesbaar.
Er gebeurt van alles en over het algemeen sluit je de meeste personages ook zonder enige moeite in je hart.
En ondanks de voorspelbaarheid van het genre, weet Jill je in dit verhaal toch weer te verrassen met wat leuke en spannende twists in het verhaal.
Twists die je hart raken, maar je ook soms ook even de adem benemen.
En uiteraard hebben deze allemaal te maken met de personages.
Want naast Lou en de aanwezige spanning tussen haar en de broer van haar beste vriend Sammy, maakt ook Sammy het één en ander mee in zijn leven.
En uiteraard, komt ook het leven van Edgar aan bod. De man waarvoor Lou gaat werken.
Overigens was hij meteen mijn meest favoriete personage in dit boek. Wie kan er nu niet houden van een heerlijke oude brompot als Edgar? En wat zit er schuil achter zijn humeur?
De dynamiek tussen hem en Lou was echt heerlijk en verrassend.
Het deed mij overigens wel denken aan het boek ‘Een man die Ove heet’.
Aan het einde van dit boek, neemt Jill ons mee in een wel heel bijzonder perspectief. Dit is de eerste keer dat ze dit doet in een verhaal. En ondanks dat ik een traantje moest laten, vond ik dit heel erg speciaal.
Gek genoeg gaf het mij ook een soort van hoop. Hoop dat er meer is na dit leven.
Alle personages waren wat mij betreft voldoende uitgewerkt voor dit verhaal en ook hun belang voor het geheel was meer dan duidelijk.
Jill weet als geen ander personages met elkaar te verbinden middels verschillende verhaallijnen en dat vind ik persoonlijk echt een grote kracht in haar verhalen.

I love a story which features a cantankerous character and eighty-year-old Edgar was the perfect complement to Lou’s sweet demeanour. It was a joy to watch the relationship between these two develop into something more than employer and employee. This is my first book by Jill Mansell, but it certainly won’t be my last.
The two meet when Edgar falls in a parking lot. Lou is in town for a couple of days to spend some time with a good friend. Being the caregiver she is, Lou quickly runs to Edgar to assist him. The next thing she knows, she is driving Edgar home and putting away his groceries.
Lou is surprised to see the size of the estate that Edgar is living alone on. It is evident that he needs help to maintain his home and she soon learns that he has gone through a series of caregivers. When he offers Lou the job she explains that she already is caring for a woman in the town she lives in. He continues to pursue her and shortly thereafter her circumstances change. To sweeten the deal, Edgar offers to leave his estate to her upon his death.
The book is filled with a diverse cast of interesting and well-developed characters including a woman from Edgar’s past and her family. I enjoyed the sweet romances in the book and the special bond that Edgar forms with his rescue dog. It was the special relationship that develops between Edgar and Lou that made this book such an enjoyable read.
I listened to the audiobook version of Promise Me which was narrated by Katherine Press. Her performance felt natural and easy to listen to at my usual playback speed of 1.5x. I recommend the audiobook version to all those that enjoy this format.

Jill Mansell has done it again, "Promise Me" was another brilliant and heart - warming story with so many curveballs in the second half that I couldn't stop reading, and well, I didn't stop until I've finished it, deep into the night. Finally it was a book that I wanted to get back to, that I felt involved in characters' lives, so brilliantly written, light - hearted and also a little tear - jerker. Although I was sure that Edgar is only joking.
What I love about Joll Mansell'S books is that they are always a real rollercoaster ride of friendship, loyalty and lovely romance. I immediately fall in love with Lou, you simply can't not like her and all the other characters are written just the way they should have been written, even the bad ones are not too overdone. Each of them has their own story to tell, and there is so much to it, but they come together so well. The story moves just at the right pace and the author knows when to add something to laugh or to build a tension.
It is a story that will make you feel better and cozy and warm. There is something special in the book and in the writing, this something you are looking for in a book, that touches and pulls at the right heartstrings and yet makes you feel so warm inside. It's addictive, this story, you can't stop reading it, full of little surprises and it will bring a smile to your face. Absolutely loved it!

Jill Mansell is a incredibly talented author who has delivered flawless books over and over again and her latest novel Promise Me is no exception. We have the warmth and depth of emotion that we are accustomed to in Jill’s novels but there is also a modern spark to this storyline too.
The characters are all so well developed and they are not all perfect either they each have their flaws, may that be with our grumpy old Edgar who many find rude or the lovable Lou who although hardworking and caring only took Edgar up on his offer for her own gain but she was not the only one. I had such conflicted thoughts and emotions throughout this storyline, how I could love a character so much but not be onboard with their actions.
This really was a captivating read that held my attention the whole way through and there were predictable and unpredictable parts in equal measure which just made the book such a joy to read. I was championing the outcome of this book and I was so pleased that the author chose to end the book the way she did, I do love a dose of Karma!
The romance is plentiful and a rollercoaster of emotions for many added to that we have strong friendships too.

Oh I loved this book. It is warm, whitty and full of joy. Heartwarming and uplifting too.
Lou is needing to start over, her husband (although not a very nice one) has died, she has just lost her job and been turfed out of her home.
So she goes back home where her friends are. Where she has been offered a job, home and the promise of a brighter better future that she simply cannot turn down.
However the job is tending, looking after and being assistant to grumpy old man Edgar. But there is lots more to Edgar than meets the eye. But as they begin to grow on each other it's not just Edgar who begins to evolve and change but Lou too.
Throw in two handsome brothers and a adorable is cranky doggo and you have the recipe for a fantastic feel good romantic book.
I simply adored it.

Wie had kunnen denken dat de excentrieke Edgar Allsopp de oplossing zou hebben voor Lou’s problemen? Hij biedt haar een baan en een dak boven haar hoofd in het dorp Foxwell in de Cotswolds.
Een heerlijke plek, waar toevallig ook nog Remy woont, de aantrekkelijke oudere broer van Lou’s vriend Sammy.
Niet dat Remy haar ziet staan, maar toch…
De immer knorrige Edgar heeft echter wel een voorwaarde, waar Lou over moet zwijgen. Kan Lou zich aan die belofte houden?
'Niemand is perfect.'
Wanneer het zonnetje schijnt en de vogeltjes hun mooiste melodieën ten gehore brengen, leven we toch weer een beetje op. De zonnestralen, vol vitamine D, toveren een glimlach op ons gezicht. De lente hangt in de lucht. Maar de lente begint pas écht als je de nieuwe Jill Mansell in handen hebt.
Dit jaar heeft Luitingh-Sijthoff Amsterdam flink uitgepakt. 'Het zonnetje in huis' schreeuwt lente. Wat is het toch een prachtig exemplaar! Met fleurige bloemen die de cover én de edges sieren. Mooi vanbuiten, maar is het ook mooi vanbinnen?
De heerlijke, soepele schrijfstijl van Mansell neemt je vanaf de eerste bladzijde mee naar het dorp Foxwell. Daar ontmoeten we verschillende personages die we gaande het verhaal beter leren kennen. Het ene personage meer likeable dan het andere.
We lezen het verhaal vooral vanuit Lou, maar we krijgen ook de hersenspinsels van andere personages mee. Lou is lief en behulpzaam en al snel ontmoet ze Edgar Allsopp. Een grumpy old man met een klein hartje. De interactie tussen Lou en Edgar verwarmde mijn hart en ik betrapte mezelf erop dat ik dit boek met een glimlach op mijn gezicht aan het lezen was. Daar heb ik dus helemaal geen zon of fluitende vogeltjes voor nodig.
'Liefde is veel belangrijker dan geld.'
Dit verhaal bracht mij pure ontspanning. Het kwam precies op het juiste moment. Rijkelijk gevuld met feelgood, doorspekt met humor, soms wat voorspelbaar én toch ook een beetje hartverscheurend. Jill Mansell heeft weer een succesformule op het papier weten te vangen die het begin van de lente inluidt.
Het was een coup de foudre tussen dit boek en mij. ****

Het was lang geleden dat ik een feelgood had gelezen en wat heb ik ervan genoten om het wel te doen! Met zo'n sprankelende persoonlijkheid als Lou is dit boek een enorme vrolijkmaker. En hoewel je de grote lijnen van dit boek wel redelijk kunt raden, zijn er genoeg grappige details of onverwachte momenten om je het hele boek geboeid te houden en de personages in je hart te sluiten. Overigens is 'het hele boek lang' niet heel lang, want dit boek leest als een trein! Een prachtige balans tussen feelgood en af en toe wat tragiek of dingen die niet lopen hoe je verwacht en/of gehoopt had, maken het boek realistisch en wel optimistisch.
Ik had feelgood lang gemeden, omdat ik geen groot fan ben van verhalen die hoofdzakelijk om de will they-won't they vraag draaien. Dit boek heeft me laten zien dat het erg jammer is om om die reden een heel genre af te serveren, want er zijn nog zoveel andere thema's (zoals het vormen van een zelfgekozen familie in dit boek voor mij de hoofdlijn vormt). Natuurlijk kan een beetje romantiek niet ontbreken, maar juist door de rest van hun leven ook zo'n duidelijke plaats te geven, raak ik ook invested in die romances, leef ik met ze mee en gun ik ze de duidelijke liefde van hun leven!
Bovendien zijn het heel voorstelbare personages; van sprankelende Lou, via Ed Sheeran-Sammy, mopperkont Edgar met zijn kleine hartje (hij deed me denken aan een oudere versie van mr. Darcy), kieskeurige chihuahua Captain Oates, de knappe Remy naar de gladjakker Tom, zijn flapuit zus Fia en vergankelijke terugkijkend op vervlogen tijden ex-beroemdheid Della.
Ook wil ik nog even complimenten maken voor de paar medische scènes die in dit boek zitten. Deze zijn realistisch en geloofwaardig en als professional in het vakgebied kan ik zeggen dat dat vaak anders is.
Tot slot: de Nederlandse titel is heel goed gekozen! Dekt ontzettend de lading van het verhaal en het boek zelf was de afgelopen dagen mijn zonnetje in huis!

Een ontzettend fijn verhaal met hele mooie en interessante personages. Wel had het boek een stuk dunner gekund, waardoor het nog net wat vlotter had gelezen, door niet zoveel bijpersonages aan het woord te laten (maar hen bijvoorbeeld gewoon hun eigen boek te geven).

Bijna iedereen die feelgood-boeken leest, heeft weleens iets gelezen van Jill Mansell of in ieder geval haar naam gehoord. En terecht, want het zijn heerlijke boeken voor in de zomer. Haar humoristische romans zijn vermakelijk, gemakkelijk te lezen en uiteraard grappig. De cover van het boek straalt ook een en al vrolijkheid uit.
De schrijfstijl van Mansell is prettig en toegankelijk, waardoor het een erg gemakkelijk te lezen boek is. Ik heb hier wel een puntje over de vormgeving, maar dit heeft geen invloed op de beoordeling van het boek. De hoofdstukken starten namelijk direct waar het vorige hoofdstuk eindigt: niet mijn favoriete vormgeving.
Het verhaal is niet mega uniek ten opzichte van andere feelgood verhalen, waardoor de beoordeling wat aan de lagere kant ligt. Dit betekent echter voor mij niet dat het een slecht boek is, het voldoet namelijk wel aan mijn verwachtingen: lekker in het zonnetje weg kunnen dromen met een ‘licht’ boek.
Ik heb onwijs genoten van dit verhaal en met name om het karakter van Edgar en zijn hondje. Zij zorgen regelmatig voor hilarische situaties en ondanks dat ze beide grumpy zijn, sluit je ze in je hart. Het liefdesverhaal in Het zonnetje in huis is ook zeer vermakelijk. Vriendschap is ook een belangrijk en goed uitgewerkt thema in dit boek.
