A farmer will always vote for whatever benefits his farm . . .
The embargo of Phaethon has ended, and all three galactic systems are vying for the planet’s alignment in upcoming elections.
Now that ships can arrive freely, the Republic, League and Alliance have all decided that Phaethon is a worthy addition to their folds. Each system sends diplomats to the frontier planet in hopes of swaying minds and capturing votes.
The League is desperately short on territory and is looking to restore its former glory, so Clarion sends several agents to help facilitate this outcome. The Alliance also seeks to expand, while Republicans want to stymie their competitors’ growth.
In the midst of all this turmoil, Tom Savage keeps working on his star farm, learning more about harnessing the power of Phaethon’s sun for energy and growing his family of businesses across the globe. But depending on which system the populace votes for, his operations may soon come to a screeching halt.
Now it’s time to get involved in politics. With Tom and Gwen and all their friends in the mix, that usually means far more action than words . . .
Grab Book 10 in the exciting Star Farmer series! Featuring gun fights, drama and political intrigue, you won’t want to miss the latest in this fast-release saga. Come on out to the farm, sit down and stay a while. The weather’s fine no matter how stormy the politics are back home.
From the first moment I started reading Routine Diplomacy, I was captivated by its world. I liked seeing Tom as he was working on his farm, especially when he encountered the chickens. I find it impossible to get enough of Tom's planet because of the incredible things that can occur there.
I love everything about this world and its inhabitants. The world-building is outstanding. So are the descriptions; they are so vivid that I can see it all playing out in my head as if I were watching a movie. Speaking of which, I would love to see the Star Farmer series adapted into a TV show.
I adore the capabilities of the bots. I relish the battles and learning about the planet and its future plans. I wish this series could go on forever.
If the votes do not go Tom's way, he could lose everything. While some individuals are excited for the world to grow, others wish to stop it from doing so. If things don’t unfold in their favor, Tom and his crew may need to get involved, and if they do, it won’t be pretty.
What are they going to do? What steps will they take to address their issue? Will they be able to save their fields and their planet? Reading Routine Diplomacy is the only way to find the answers to the many unsolved questions. As I eagerly awaited the conclusion to find out how Tom and his world would fare, the tension kept me riveted to the story.

Never a dull moment in the life of Tom and his friends. Now we have three galactic systems suddenly interested in the planet’s alignment going their way for their own greedy reasons. The Republic wanting to interfere with their competitions’ growth, the League needing more territory to be ‘great’ again, and the Alliance wanting to expand, all find Phaethon now worthy of becoming theirs and they won’t care how they force that to happen… nor who they have to crush to get what they want. But if the upcoming voting picks the “wrong” system, Tom Savage may end up losing everything he has been working for on his star farm. World expansion sounds noble, but it may instead be chaotic and deadly to others. But knowing Tom, he will gather his own people and step in to make things right. So hang on and prepare yourself. If you have come along on the ride this far, you know what you can expect. What are they going to do to make things right for everyone who has an investment in this world? What can they do to make their issues listened to? Is there a way to save their fields and the planet that they have already invested so very much in?
The pattern of Jaxon Reed’s storytelling continues to pull me into his stories. I Love the youthful exuberance of Tom and Gwen, tempered by their upbringing and good genes. The introduction of old foes and political tensions makes me itch for the next installment of Star Farmer!
A young man heads to a frontier planet and manages to build a very odd little family. There are gunfights, political maneuvers, and much more! I will definitely read the next book in the series.
Lots of politics and underhanded deals. The three major players each want this system to join them and are willing to try anything to get them to join. A great story.
Alternate universe, SF advanced technology, fantasy western, OP MC, space opera
Tom's plans to control the critical infrastructure proceed apace, while diplomats jockey to persuade the people what interstellar group to align with. Above average editing.
I am still fascinated by how the children of various nation-builders are working together to build their own nation (and their intention to NOT join any of their parents' nations). I applaud Tom, Gwen and their cohorts for their stances and plans and I really hope that the 'bone' (Phaethon) will not be hurt too badly by the 'dogs' (empires) fighting over it.
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This story was a hoot as always. Tom and the rest of his friends are back for more adventure. The embargo is lifted and elections are coming as the story opens. So of course outsiders pop in to add to the usual chaos that happens. But it had me laughing and groaning and enjoying it all play out. Plus Big Ugly is back and that is always fun. The usual citizens and the ship visitors also are about causing trouble and chaos too. So much fun to read.
This was a nice addition to the overall series, but it was too short. Honestly, with the next book out in a few weeks, it would have been better for the reader to combine the 2 books. But for the author making a living it’s makes sense.
...but it is too short. Reads more like a Short Story. Yes the author did find a good stopping place but there could of been more in the story. Overall a good (short) read.
In this volume, word gets out of some of the actions taken by one citizen couple and their AI. We also see more actions taken behind the scenes to influence the next election. Who will win the election...and the planet?
