I wasn’t expecting this story to be as good as it was! Every character gets meaningful development, and their motivations—whether they’re working together or clashing—feel grounded and believable. I’m not very familiar with Venom’s comics, so seeing him portrayed as this capable and confident was a pleasant surprise, and a refreshing change from the usual “grrr, we hate Spider-Man” dynamic I’m used to. The cross-universe pulls were fantastic, and I loved the way the various Spider characters and symbiotes interacted. The ending was incredibly satisfying and ties everything together beautifully. Highly recommended!
Spider-Verse Vs. Venomverse is meant to be the big conclusion of all these disparate mini-series we've had over the last few years (until they want to do a new one), bringing multiple versions of Spider-Men and Venoms from across the various anthology books together in a battle royale with the fate of the Web of Life & Destiny and the Symbiote Hivemind in the balance.
The stakes are high, but I think we all know going in that it's not going to be as easy as just one side winning out over the other. There are some good character moments here, and it's nice to see some of the variant Spiders and Venoms that we've seen over the last few years come back to complete some of their character development, like Weapon VIII and the post-apocalyptic Ann Weying from Cate's Venom run.
I just think that there could have been a little more to the story - taking it to such a big stage inevitably sets it up to have a bit of a fluffy conclusion, because we all know that the Web or the Hive isn't going to be destroyed at the end, because they print money for Marvel.
It's the Web of Life vs Hive Mind... They both do the same thing, yet neither thinks the other should exist....soooo....they fight we lose ====== Bonus: I'm so TIRED of these crossover alt universe 'romps' Bonus Bonus: Now we have yet ANOTHER protector to protect both things? FFS
