Hidden Harbor is one of those small-town romances that sneaks up on you in the best way. It’s soft but strong, cozy but layered, and emotionally rich without ever feeling heavy. Drew and Anya’s story is tender, grown-up, and deeply earned.
The story is about Anya Rose, who’s trying to start fresh in Friday Harbor, hoping to find some peace and maybe, a little healing. She’s sweet, calming, and the kind of person who runs a yoga studio and actually makes you want to stretch and breathe. But she’s clearly running from a past she’s not ready to talk about. She’s constantly trying to stay a few steps ahead of something that might catch up. Cue the intrigue.
Then there’s Drew Fenwick, local search and rescue hero and resident grump. He’s all about structure, safety, and keeping people at arm’s length. He doesn’t open up easily, and he’s not looking for love, until Anya comes into his world with her sunshine energy and quiet strength. The way Drew melts for her (even if he’s the last to admit it) is so swoony. He’s protective, loyal, a bit clueless emotionally, but completely smitten and it’s adorable. Anya gets under his skin in a way that feels both terrifying and inevitable.
Their slow-burn romance is full of tension and tenderness. They dance around each other for a while, each dealing with their own baggage. Drew’s trying to figure out how to let someone in, and Anya’s learning to trust again. But when they finally let their guards down? It hits hard. There’s something so satisfying about watching two people who don’t believe they deserve a soft landing actually find one in each other.
And through it all, there’s a real sense of community, nosy neighbors, found family moments, and even some salty sea farm life thrown in for good measure. It’s not overly dramatic or high-stakes, but it’s got heart, healing, and some seriously sweet moments (plus a few steamier ones that definitely deliver).
If you’re into a small town romance with a gentle edge of suspense, and you like your heros golden retriever-loyal under that tough guy shell, Hidden Harbor will feel like a warm mug of tea on a rainy day. Also: Drew’s grandma steals every scene she’s in. Just saying.
Thank you The Author Agency and Amelia Simone for this arc opportunity! I volunteered to review.
