After studying arts at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels, he first tried being a graphic artist, but eventually settled for writing instead.
His main series are 'Spirou and Fantasio', 'Sir Pyle' and 'Merlin', all with José Luis Munuera, and 'Sillage', with Philippe Buchet.

Continúan las aventuras de Navis a la vez que se da inicio a una trama que se prolongará en los álbumes siguientes. Es divertido, aunque me parece que la historia central del álbum es algo más tópica que la del anterior.

Tome 5 qualifies for my exclusive "masterpiece" shelf!

It just occurred to me that I can't review both of these appropriately without losing my afternoon. Too much to say. Just trust me and read them. I'll be brief:
The first would actually not take long because it's the kind of action and intrigue that nobody could possibly regret reading- objectively attention grabbing too difficult not to enjoy.
It's the second which is so intelligent and emotionally moving that I would ramble on for paragraphs of laborious lauding. It forcibly tackles the massive subject -that "first world" thinking mostly ignores and obfuscates because it is led to view it improperly- which is the intimate plight of the desperately poor and disadvantaged. Most effectively, Morvan allows the reader to see the issue through a mindset that is woefully absent from "popular psychology"

Undoubtably, Navee is BOTH the most adorable and exciting female in all my international and domestic reading of somewhere around 3400 books (not issues). Her facial expressions and body language are the loudest and most captivating. Even Morvan, the writer, must be shocked at how well Buchet has modeled the effervescence and spunk of his character.
These two tomes are no different. Especially the latter in which pages 4-5 are an open->book->spread->across setting that places her in 23 panels as she tours through the setting with a different excited pose in each. I've never seen such a dense representation of character. She is captured in what amounts to a music-free ballet of kinetic excitement that is endearing beyond proper description- she is emotionally and visually mesmerizing. Then, the genuinity of a ten-panel appearance apology must be mentioned as well. Perfect.
Both of them also highlight Buchet's command of species diversity. I cannot imagine being able to create so many different creatures- I'd bet that there were 100 between these two alone. The impossible to name tome had an absurd amount in a huge gathering of representatives from the totality of the Wake's population.

Après sa difficile mission dans l'album précédent (Engrenages),Nävis doit aller sur la planète Hurumaru afin de découvrir ce que sont devenus les "scruteurs" qui ont été envoyés dessus et qui ne donnent plus signe de vie. Elle ne sera pas seule car une équipe de six autres agens de Sillage l'accompagneront. Chacun devant retrouver "son" scruteur.
Une fois arrivée, elle découvre une planète où la race des Escotes est réduite en esclavage au profit des cinq races supérieures.
Seulement, les escotes ont décidé de se révolter derrière la bannière de Monéva. Ils s'emparèrent de la cité d'Ovariahn et défièrent les cinq races qui étaient leurs maîtres autrefois. Le combat est inévitable et les agents de Sillage tombent en plein milieu.
Toutefois, ils seront faits prisonniers par les Escotes avant la bataille finale et ils découvrent que Monéva est secondée par un homme mystérieux...
Encore une histoire magnifique réhaussée par ce trait si élégant et ses couleurs si éclatantes. Chaque album de Sillage est un enchantement et quelques idées sociétales sont développées qui ne me laissent pas indifférents...

Les dialogues sont toujours aussi mal écrit et on dirait que le scénariste s’attaque à des intrigues trop complexes pour lui. Il finit donc son histoire avec une bagarre mal découpée, une morale à deux cennes et en restant essentiellement flou sur la plupart des points majeurs. Pas certain que je vais lire les autres…

Finalement on découvre que Sillage est organisation corrompue. J'espère qui cette information fera Nävis évoluer et créer son propre chemin.

Valerianin manttelinperijäksi povailtu scifi-sarjakuva tarjoaa lukijalleen komeaa taidetta, mutta sekavanpuoleisessa käsikirjoituksessa olisi vielä parantamisen varaa. "Sillagen" ostaminen taisi loppua tähän.
