Pucking Your Best Friend

Rate this book
Never fall for your best friend... especially when she’s using your face to sell her dreams.

Maddie’s life is a mess.
Homeless, heartbroken, and ready to give up on her dream of running her own dating agency, she’s desperate for a way out. Thank goodness there’s a solution to all her problems, and his name is Matthew Payne. After all, having a famous, sexy hockey player as a best friend has to have perks, right? Like the use of his guest room when she has no place to stay and his handsome face for an ad campaign. She just has to teach Matt how to convincingly give a woman that feeling of being his one and only … and comes to wish he wasn’t such a good actor. And that he’d quit walking around shirtless.

Matt’s life is fantastic!
He has the best job in the world, a stress-free love life, and no reason to change a thing. Which is why there’s no way he’ll let Maddie put out a public call for “his dream woman.” Firstly, because that person doesn’t exist. Secondly, because Maddie has got to stop giving him whole-body flirting lessons. Thirdly, because the only woman he’s ever been interested in gave him a pass ages ago. And is now sleeping in his guest room …

Sierra Lewis has done it again. What an incredible story and relationship she has managed to create between Matt and Maddie. It deserves five stars for the many feelings it made me feel, the tears, the laugh, the joy and mostly the smile I had plastered on my face the entire time I read this book.

Character development is wonderful here. Maddie has always avoided confrontation. As matt said, she can and will stand up for those she cares about, except for herself. Matt is the ladies’ man. He’s not looking for anything serious at the moment, so if the random lady he meets is okay with a hookup, he’s game.

Until one night, when they both dared each other whether their version of the perfect kiss is actually the best, the lines start to get blurry.

But what will happen once their fears and past issues come knocking down the door? Will they protect their friendship, or will they have the gut to see what they could be like together?

Well, you just need to pick up this book coming out today, June 10th, to find out what they end up doing.

I'm loving this series! Pucking Your Best Friend is book #2 in the L.A. Hawks Hockey series. I was lucky to get the first book as an ARC as well....
You met Matt and Maddie in the first book....and it was well set up.
Maddie is a matchmaker! But living in L.A. is expensive and the business is brand new. After losing a big client because her company, Match Me!, is still too small; and coming home to a flooded apartment Maddie is at wit's end.
Thank goodness for best friends!! Matt saves the day by offering up his guest room.
Matt is a professional hockey player and just the sweetest cutest guy ever. He and Maddie have been best friends for around a year. And while she turned him down on the night they met, Maddie is really good at finding him suitable ladies to "date".
Matt texts Maddie one morning while sneaking out of his latest dates. He can't remember her name.
Things have gotten a little out of hand. He's having a blast but what kind of jerk can't remember the girl he just slept with's name?
That's as far as I'll take you.
Stumbling in on Matt stepping out of the shower and getting an eye full. Late night conversations. Signing up to for Maddie's matchmaking service. Double dating. And one scorching kiss. The lines are starting to blur.
You are going to love their banter. And the locker room talk and texts from teammates.
I'll tell you what I loved....the what if questions aren't just asked in their minds....these two talk it out. I love love love that.
Thank you Sierra Lewis for this arc....I cannot wait to see who's next!!

I love this book! it is such a funny, heartbreaking, hot and amazing story!

I just love the kind of relationship maddie and Matt has, it is beautiful and rare. And oh my god! The misunderstanding in the beginning of their relationship is so funny😂 But then all of the sudden, something happend that shifts both their worlds and oh my god it is hilarious, hot and so so exciting! The power some small words can have, it's fascinating. The main characters both have their own issues due to past happenings, and i really emjoyed reading the different ways the insecurities was shown, and how they handle or tried to handle them.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars, because it made me feel both happy, hot, sad, angry and i laughed a lot😂 the conversations and the banter is top notch, there is drama that i really like, and there is a red thread through out the entire book and everything makes sense. Sierra Lewis did an amazing job with explaining without explaining in words but by actions and interactions. I cannot wait to read book 3!

I can recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romcom with hot open door scenes. And even though it is a hockey romance, you dont have to be into hockey to love this book, it is that good!

I was so excited to read the next book in this series. The banter is this book was so good and had me laughing.

Maddie doesn’t like confrontation and arguing when it comes to her. She will stand up for everyone else, but doesn’t want to make a wave if it’s for herself. Out of her 3 sisters she is the one taking care of their father and holding it all together. She is the owner of Match Me and still waiting for it to take off. She wants the HEA: marriage and kids, but she hasn’t been with anyone in 5 years.

Matt is the ultimate playboy. He just wants a hookup and one night stand. Not looking to settle down anytime soon. He has some past insecurities when it comes to friends and losing them.

Matt and Maddie have been best friends for a year. She is his wing woman. So when she needs a place to stay, he offers his place to her. But then the two start looking at each other a little differently. Noticing things they never had before. Maybe just maybe Matt was ready for more. Could Maddie have her best friend and dream man all in one?

This story was funny, sweet, had some sad moments, and will have you a bit angry.

He met his best friend a year ago and hasn’t let himself think about her in any other way, but what happens when one comment changes your entire view?

Pucking Your Best Friend is the follow up to Lewis’ debut novel and is just as fun as the first! Maddie and Matt are best friends that never want that to change, but somewhere along the way, it starts to become obvious that something has to give.

From best friends to roommates to flying chickens, Maddie and Matt’s story is entertaining and captivating. I loved the friend relationship between them, and the banter was just fun. Lewis takes their relationship from friends to tension to burn in a storyline that is easy to fall into.

Your favorites from the first book are back and just as fun as when you first met them. Dax, Lucy, Jack, and the rest of the crew bring a lot of fun as well as tense moments into the story that make their relationships even deeper than before. I am excited for the next installment of the series and to see where these characters go.

If you’re looking for a story that you will easily fall for, Pucking Your Best Friend is it!

Maddie has been best friends with Matt for about a year- she even helps him find his hookups! But when her apartment floods and Matt offers her his spare room, things between them shift. Suddenly they find themselves walking very close to the line between just friends and more. But Maddie isn’t interested, right? She just wants Matt to help her with her matchmaking agency, make it look like she’s helping him find The One. But The One doesn’t exist for Matt. Or at least, The One for Matt rejected him a year ago and is now his best friend….

Loved every second of this!! Even in the first book you could see the chemistry between Matt and Maddie, so it was good finally read their story!! And seeing Maddie start to stand up for herself thanks to Matt’s encouragement was the best!! I really hope we have Jack’s book next because I just know he’s hiding something!!

This is an ARC review and all opinions are my own. Thank you to Sierra for the ARC copy of this book and for the opportunity to read and review it

Pucking Your Best Friend Is Maddie and Matthew’s friend’s to lovers story and it’s book two in the L.A. Hawkes Series. This is a well written, entertaining read that at times has me laughing out loud and in the next breath I wanted to bang this couples heads to together but in the end this book left me smiling.
Coming to terms with baggage is not always easy and when you both have baggage it becomes near on impossible but when Maddie finds herself homeless it’s her best friend she turns to.Matthew and her are best friends for a reason and it was the bond they shared as friends that has them finding love when they least expected it.
This book had me swooning and smiling, it has characters that are easy to love and a journey is believable. Loved it.

🏒Book Review🏒

4⭐ 3🌶️

Well the chicken really stole the show in this book. Seriously, this book was everything I wanted for these two main characters. There was misunderstanding and miscommunication. I mean who could mistake moving a bench for a kiss request - hilarious!
I really enjoyed the ebb and flow of the will they/won't they? And I really enjoyed the mistakes they made along the way.
Was it an angst driven drive? No, but that's okay. It was a sweet humorous trip through a cute storyline. As per the previous book in the series, there are enough Easter eggs to make me want to read the next book in the series. Bring on Jack!

Big thanks to Sierra Lewis for a copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion.

Another fun one from Sierra Lewis. I enjoyed the first book and ended up really enjoying this second one in the series.
The MCs played supporting roles in the first book and it was really awesome to get an expanded view of them in Book 2.
Maddie, the FMC, felt so grounded in reality that I felt like I was listening to one of my girlfriends. She was funny, relatable and you just wanted to root for her to get her dream man.
Matt, oh my sweet Matt. His willingness for growth as well as ability to listen and internalize what his partner was so refreshing to read.
There were a couple of plot points I felt Lewis rushed to explain away and could have expanded on how the characters navigated it. But all in all, this was another solid pick-me-up.

Okkkkk now I can’t decide which one I liked better from this series so far!! I loved Matt and Maddie’s story!

Matt (pro hockey player) and Maddie (owner of a matchmaking company) have been best friends for a year.. totally platonic. But after a night when Maddie admits she had been attracted to Matt if he wanted a relationship.. he cannot get her off his mind! When her apt floods and she moves in with him for a while.. they find their attraction to each other growing by the day. And… they might even want the same things in life 😉

I honestly felt her people pleasing tendencies to my core!!!
I am so obsessed with Sierras writing and cannot wait to keep reading 😘

We love a best friend to lovers romance! Maddie owns a dating agency and needs help. Who else would she ask but her professional hockey player best friend Matt. Matt and Maddie have been best friends for a year and Maddy has been Matt’s wing woman. Matt will do anything to help Maddy. What happens when their platonic friendship finds out about feeling that are not something friends think about? This book has forced proximity, problem solving, dating, family issues, ex boyfriends, and character development. You will have to read to find out. Can’t wait for book 3! I highly recommend!💗🏒

Loved this best friends to lovers romance. Maddie and Matthew have been friends for a while, so when she needs a place to stay, he has no problem helping her out. They both have issues from previous relationships but living under the same roof has them both look at each other in a different light.

I liked that Matthew always knew Maddie was the one for him. The friendship and banter between them was fantastic, the chemistry was sizzling.

I don’t like a friends to lovers trope basically because it doesn’t make any sense. She’s been finding him ONS for a year and she’s been celibate for 5 years? It’s so unbalanced! I would have rated it lower but it was cute in some parts.

4 Star Review Pucking Your Best Friend (L.A. Hawkes #2) by Sierra Lewis

Sierra Lewis is a new author to me and I really enjoyed this book.

This is Maddie and Matthew’s story and I quickly became invested in their story.

It was well written with plenty of witty banter, romance and steam. The miscommunication between these two had me shaking my head and laughing at the same time.

Both have baggage and they have to come to terms with it. I enjoyed the development of their relationship and was happy that they girls the happily ever after they both deserved.
