I loved this book I thought that the age gap and best friend's daughter/goddaughter angles added a real juicy bit of the forbidden to this romance that was very seductive to me. The chemistry sizzled and the attraction was electric between Roman and Laken and I was quickly invested in them and rooting them on all the way.

I found this book to be...I don't know the word for it. Abrupt? Shallow? I'm not sure what the right word for it is.
I enjoyed the premise of the book, age-gap, taboo god-father/god-daughter romance. That's right up my alley. But one minute they are fighting the attraction between them, and then 5 minutes later they are making out. Then it's "no we can't", and the next scene is her giving him her V-card. Then it's more "no, this is wrong", she's crying because she is heartbroken (is she?) but then they are dating and he's taking her to New York for a weekend trip. Then he breaks it off AGAIN because he is unworthy of love and he's traumatized from what happened in his past, but then 3 pages later he is chasing her down because he loves her and being with her makes him realize he IS worthy of love. Like, no therapy, no self-reflection, no nothing. Just bam, he's cured and ready for his HEA.
I mean, I understand that this is fiction and that nothing like this happens in real life, but this is even a stretch for my imagination. I guess there is just not enough development in either the characters or the plot for me. The spicey scenes are good, but again, they seemed abrupt. It was a roller coaster of emotions from our FMC, Laken, and it just seemed like she was very immature. And I know she is supposed to have just turned 21 in the book, but she just seemed all over the place. Roman even seemed all over the place with his emotions as well. We had some Daddy kink mentioned, but then nothing came of it. There was a brief hint of BDSM, but then again, it just kind of fizzled out. He got her 2 fun gifts on their trip to NYC, but then they were never mentioned again.
The book was very all over the place for me; plot, emotions, characters, everything was just not very cohesive. I gave this book 3 stars, but would not read again. There are better steamy, taboo age-gap romance books out there that do a better job with the troupes IMO.

High Roller was such a well-written age gap story. I loved it so much. I loved the characters and devoured their story.
Laken is in Vegas to work as an intern with her dad's casino. Roman is the other owner in the company and is her dad's best friend. He hasn't seen Laken in years and remembers her as a young girl. When he sees her again he is unprepared for the beautiful woman she has become. He tries to fight his attraction since she is so much younger than him. Laken is young and wants to explore what it means to be a young woman. She and Roman get close and share a night together. He feels like that was a mistake and then Laken is hurt. Roman finally gives in and invites her on a business trip out of town. What happens when Laken's dad finds out about their relationship? This is a story you don't want to miss.
I loved the chemistry between Laken and Roman. They were so good together. The slow burn of their relationship was off the charts. Highly recommended.

This book strikes a great balance between plot and spice, giving you the best of both without leaning too hard in either direction. The pacing felt just right—fast-moving with short chapters that kept things engaging, but never rushed.
While I’m usually not a fan of the whole breakup-and-makeup trope, the way it played out here was surprisingly heartfelt and sweet. It added emotional depth without dragging the story down.
One of my favorite touches? The chapter art! Each chapter features illustrations of the main characters (MMC or FMC, depending on whose POV we’re in), and it really helped bring the story to life. It’s such a thoughtful detail that enhanced the reading experience visually.
And that ending? Hilarious and totally on-brand. It wrapped everything up with just the right amount of humor. A solid, satisfying read from start to finish.

The overall plot of the book was really entertaining. It felt a little rushed through the resolution though. I just wanted more drama.

Okay, wow. I devoured this book in one sitting and now I don’t know what to do with myself until the next one drops.
I love a good age gap, and the author nailed it here. The heroine wasn’t just some naïve pushover—she actually grows so much throughout the story, finding her voice and pushing back against the billionaire’s walls. And him? Ugh, the perfect mix of broody, powerful, and secretly vulnerable. The tension was insane, and when it finally got spicy… let’s just say I had to fan myself a few times.
But THAT ENDING?? Absolute torture in the best way. I need book two immediately.

I love this book, it was brilliantly written. The age gap and dad’s best friend were delicious. I couldn’t get enough but also didn’t want it to be over. Roman and Laken are the perfect couple, even if Roman was a dumbass most of the book and denying himself and her what they wanted.
