Vampires are no longer safe. The Venatrix exists and her name is, Tasi.

The fae magic seeps deep into Tasi’s blood holding her hostage. It coils around her bones, tightening inside her, wanting her to destroy every vampire in existence to satiate it needs. The problem is the bond to the man she loves is fighting to try and bring her back. Torn between submitting to the magic or ridding herself of it, she turns to the only ally she knows.

While Tasi is off finding herself as a lethal vampire hunter, her family will stop at nothing to bring her back from the brink of destruction. But, in order to help Tasi, truths will be discovered, secrets revealed, and a brewing war with the fae queen is surfacing.

In the series finale, is devastation the means for a new beginning, or will this found family triumph and conquer the endless hate sewn into the one they love.

What an ingenious and enthralling way to bring this adventure to an end! I say that because these characters are nowhere near done with their stories. In fact, they are just getting started. This was a fascinating and wondrous origin story for this intriguing group of characters. The next part of their journey may come in fits and starts, but it is certain to be eye-opening and magnificent. I honestly can't say enough good things about this incredibly exquisite series! It is full of struggles that mirror our own enough to deeply root for each and everyone one of them. I have come to love our main characters with all my heart although I will always have a few that will remain my absolute favorites. They stir my heart and breathe life back into it each time I immerse myself in their world. The only differences are the masks they wear compared to us.

Tasi was changed into the Venatrix at the end of Tortured, She needed to find someone like her who could help her sort through what was happening to her. The only other person she knew who had gone through what she did was Nic. He was the only other dhampyr she knew of. Nic's experience did not exactly match hers, but he still wanted to help her through this time. Unfortunately, the power flowing through Tasi had other plans in mind.

Tasi knew deep in her soul that her family would never give up her like she didn't give up on them. However, fighting what she has become was harder then she ever imagined. Keeping her steps on the right path was like climbing a hill covered in oil and molasses. It was incredibly difficult, slow, and heartbreaking, but Tasi being who she is at her core was not one to give up at trouble. Her heart fought for her when her mind was set on its ruin.

Watching Tasi's inner struggle tore me to pieces. She was no longer her beautiful, compassionate, and loving self. She was turned into something hateful, confused, and ugly. I wished for her to know peace and to understand what was going on with her. I was so glad that she was not fully giving into the new hate flowing through her veins. She wrestled with what was left of her heart trying to painfully guide her to the right choices.

Walking with these extraordinary characters through this excruciatingly painful experience broke a part of me. I was lost just like them, but I knew that all was not lost. If they just kept going, anything was possible. Just like in life, it's harder to keep pushing forward then it is to just sit down and give up. Continuing to work toward your goal is character building because you find out what type of a person you are and what you are made of. Do you give up or do refuse to be stopped until you have reached your goal? The sweet ending made up for the pain and lost felt at the beginning, but it also makes the rest of their days that much sweeter to know what they could have lost but didn't since they refused to give up.

VM Nelson has done it again! The final book in the Dhampyr series is full of so much emotion. I was left torn at the end of book 3, Tormented, and was waiting to heal in book 4. I felt so many back and forth emotions, love and anger conflicts throughout the book.
Tasi has become something her family and friends fear. They will have to save her or die trying. With help that comes from unexpected characters, this book has so much going on for it. Bravo, Vm Nelson for bringing a beautifully written series full of memorable characters to a beautiful ending. This series is YA has been a gift and joy to read. I can’t wait to see what else VM Nelson has planned!
