Fleeing into the heart of the Carmine Nebula, Izzy risks everything to find Crix and uncover the truth behind her family's past. With their ship barely holding together and a storm closing in, she leads a daring rescue mission that uncovers lost technology, buried secrets, and a legacy more valuable—and dangerous—than she ever imagined. As alliances form and choices weigh heavy, Izzy must use her wits, courage, and a mysterious creature named Pixel to survive the storm and bring her makeshift family home.
But safety is short-lived. When a powerful corporation begins circling Hellix Station, drawn by the Garcia name and the secrets hidden in the nebula, Izzy discovers her parents’ research holds the key to transforming space travel—and the reason they were silenced. With danger closing in, the found family must split, placing their trust in uncertain paths. As the Wayward Comet heads into uncharted space, Izzy prepares to face the truth. And those willing to kill for it.
Often sequential books lose the story along the way but not in this series. This story just keeps getting better. Jon is a very good author, the story is well written and well edited. The adventure is exciting and keeps you in suspense.
I liked this book but there seems to be a lot of repetition of facts that have been mentioned earlier in the book seeming to drag the story out. You could stop reading with this book as it has an ending sort of. I am going on to read another genre to cleanse my palette but I may be back for the next two books in the series.
Started and ended with action. The middle and end really upped the harder aspects of what many will call old school science fiction. Kiln added layers upon layers to this heartwarming buddy/family story. Remember family is as much about who you travel with as it is about blood. I'm glad Kiln swam this story to the deep end of the story telling pool.
Can not wait to read the next awesome book in this fantastic story. I am so glad I just happened to stumble upon it. These days, it's almost impossible to find a story healthy for the soul amid all the garbage out there. I can6t say thank you enough. You, Jon, write what the world needs. Soldier on, Izzy.
Please start reading this series with the first book, otherwise you will miss a lot. This ending is much more satisfying than the previous, which was a cliff hanger.
