Centurion: From Glory To Glory

Rate this book
Gaius spent a lifetime fighting for the glory of Rome and her gods, but what he was taught as a child was tarnished by the harsh reality of life. Through the loss of love and friends Gaius hardened his heart and became the consummate Roman Soldier seeking nothing but the honor of his name. In a most unusual place and most unexpected way Gaius' longing for glory was filled by a greater glory than he could have ever known. From the wars in the forests of the Germanic north to the harsh desserts of Palestine he rises in rank to from glory to glory. From myth to majesty. From fortune to faith. Interview the What inspired you to write Centurion? I had a very vivid dream about a Centurion who was imprisoned for using unorthodox methods for motivating his troops. As I thought about it later a story started to develop. Is this a war story with lots of blood and gore? There is a military component to the story, but it is really about relationships. Gaius' relationship with his fellow soldiers, commanders, and the aristocrats. Centurion also is a story of Romance and its loss and then finding it again. The fighting scenes are descriptive but not gory. Would you describe Centurion as a Christian Novel? Not in the general sense, but it does contain the story of Christ. The rise of Christianity in the Roman world and its effects can't be denied. It would be disingenuous not to present it here. It is part of the conflict that Gaius faces. Why should I read Centurion? I think it honestly portrays the emotional conflict that existed in the Roman world. It presents difficult issues and wrestles with them without flippant or easy answers. Centurion is about rejection and redemption. In a lot of ways its a story about each of us.
